Orphaned fair use image (Image:Sublogicjet.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Sublogicjet.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Together Dating

[edit]

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Together Dating, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. Garrie 05:01, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:VX3optics.jpg

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:VX3optics.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 10:35, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Testpattern10.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Testpattern10.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 09:50, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of The Mom and Dads

[edit]

An editor has nominated The Mom and Dads, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Mom and Dads and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:44, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello. I have removed the image associated with an award granted by you to User:BetacommandBot on 20 January 2008. The image associated with the award you gave is the image for a decoration of the United States Air Force and probably should not be used in association with a Wikipedia award. Could you please choose an alternate image for the award? Thank you. --Pesco (talk) 04:02, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You recently nominated Boeing 797 for deletion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. However, this page is not an article, it is a redirect to Boeing Yellowstone Project. Speedy deletion of Boy Krazy

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Boy Krazy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Goochelaar (talk) 21:48, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Testpattern10.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Testpattern10.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 23:21, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, your amendment to the article asserts that Playa Giron is outside Bahia de Cochinos. In all the maps and documents I've seen, that is not the case. I plan to reverse your change within 24 hours, unless you can provide a source or convincing rationale.PeterWD (talk) 08:33, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi PeterWD -- in your note you said "Hi, your amendment to the article asserts that Playa Giron is outside Bahia de Cochinos. In all the maps and documents I've seen, that is not the case. I plan to reverse your change within 24 hours, unless you can provide a source or convincing rationale.". This map [1] shows that it's just outside the bay, though I can see how some might disagree. Maybe "at the mouth of the bay" might describe this more accurately. Feel free to change it to whatever sounds best. -Rolypolyman (talk) 19:17, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that; I am familiar with the map you cited. I think it comes down to the definition of a bay - one simplistic definition in Wiktionary is 3/4 surrounded by land. If we count the reefs as 'land', Giron beach is just about where the definition ends, so your new suggestion is probably the best we are going to get. Regards,PeterWD (talk) 19:28, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I hate to bother you, but do you have any references to prove this incident was notable? This article has many serious issues. Bearian (talk) 20:23, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the message. It was notable in the respect it was an unprecedented infection and was cited the New York Times, Chicago Sun Times or Tribune, and in a bioterrorism paper (which I failed to add). I can add those if it helps. However if you and others think it's questionable and it warrants a speedy delete, I totally respect that. I am replying on your page too as I don't understand Wikipedia messaging protocols very well and am not sure that you are monitoring my own talk space for changes. -Rolypolyman (talk) 20:58, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
O.K., please add the citation. No need to reply. Bearian (talk) 22:20, 9 November 2009 (UTC) P.S. I think you mean Index case, though. Bearian (talk) 22:27, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

Can we remove the "citation needed" from this page, as it has loads of references now?

Thanks,

Absolutely... not a problem. That was a long time ago and the page has progressed nicely. Thanks for asking though. -Rolypolyman (talk) 02:57, 23 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated It's a Super-Spectacular Day, an article that you created, for deletion. Fair use rationale for File:FeaturelessVoid.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:FeaturelessVoid.gif. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Proposed deletion

[edit]

The article Seaboard World Airlines landing at Marble Mountain has been proposed for deletion. The proposed-deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. (Just letting you know, since you created the article in 2006, though it doesn't appear you've done anything with it since then.) Textorus (talk) 04:42, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Seaboard World Airlines landing at Marble Mountain is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Seaboard World Airlines landing at Marble Mountain until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article.

License tagging for File:Dallas-loop-9.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Dallas-loop-9.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 23:07, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Turkmenbashi International Airport, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Interceptor (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver).

Arctic Control Group

[edit]

Dear, many thanks for your contributions regarding aviation in the former Soviet Union. You appear to have good sources! Allow me to suggest: you could do worse things than to create an article regarding the Arctic Control Group OGA, a division of the Russian/Soviet air force tasked with keeping the air bases in the far North up and running. Not always an easy task, one imagines. Kindly yours, Jan olieslagers (talk) 12:00, 30 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Jan olieslagers, unfortunately almost nothing about it has been published in English, and it would require a native Russian speaker going into original source material. Unfortunately I'm not one. Maybe if something is published about it on Russian Wikipedia it can be translated over. -Rolypolyman (talk) 22:27, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Pristan (air base)

[edit]

Hello, Rolypolyman. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Pristan".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 07:16, 27 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:DiomedeIslands.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:DiomedeIslands.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:02, 29 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

US Grid Image

[edit]

Hi there! I see you created File:UnitedStatesPowerGrid.jpg and released it into the public domain. I'm curious what method you used to create this file, and whether you still have the original files you used to create it? It would be better as an SVG image. I am happy to do the conversion. It would be much easier if I could start from the source files if possible, rather than trying to vectorize the existing JPG. Just thought I'd check with you! Thanks :) MrAureliusRTalk! 02:49, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
