Thank you.

Hello Rmcmurrer, welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Our intro page contains a lot of helpful material for new users—please check it out! If you need help, visit Wikipedia:Questions or place {{helpme}} on this page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

Unfortunately, however, a tag has been placed on Robert McMurrer, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you feel that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. {{{2}}} --SquidSK (1MClog) 07:17, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved, as you did at Robert McMurrer. This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your band, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.

Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.

If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you. --SquidSK (1MClog) 07:19, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your article Robert McMurrer

[edit]

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a notice-board or a social-networking site or a vehicle for any sort of promotion, least of all self-promotion. Writing articles about yourself is strongly discouraged, for reasons explained at WP:Autobiography.

Also, article subjects have to be notable; that is not a subjective opinion but requires that they can show "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Significant means actual comment, not just listings; reliable excludes Myspace, Facebook, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website and affiliated ones. There is more detail on the standard required at Notability (people) and (for actors) WP:ENTERTAINER. When I do a search

Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

what I see is Myspace, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook... Nothing to suggest that you meet Wikipedia's requirements to have an article. Sorry; I am sure there are many web-sites that would be happy to host your story, but this is not one of them.

A tag has been placed on Robert McMurrer requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. I have nominated Robert McMurrer, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Robert McMurrer. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. —Largo Plazo (talk) 22:35, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Careful Now

[edit]

Hi there. I see you have recreated an article about yourself that has been deleted twice already today, since it failed to demonstrate how you are notable, according to Wikipedia guidelines. The current version of your article fails to address this problem, and will soon be deleted as well, unless you can provide reliable sources that verify notability. You should also treat this message as a warning that if you continue to recreate this page about yourself without being able to satisfy Wikipedia's inclusion criteria, it is likely that you will be blocked from editing. Cheers, Steamroller Assault (talk) 22:38, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
