Notice

The article Mutate (Marvel Comics) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced, unclear why this in-universe distinction is in any way notable or should be a separate article (or how this is different from e.g. DC Comics)

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Fram (talk) 07:49, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, the article needs work, but I feel it is noteworthy and necessary for two reasons:
1. It is a bizzare term. I just learned of the "mutate" designation because I assumed it was a misspelling of mutant before being corrected. Wikipedia should define this strange term because I believe any layperson will assume it is a misspelling of mutant.
2. Some of the most prominent Marvel characters, such as Hulk and Spiderman are designated as "mutates". Risedemise (talk) 18:41, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm DarkAudit. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to Sid Vicious—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. DarkAudit (talk) 11:05, 2 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I was not experimenting. All of my edits were made to improve the article. Please have a closer look.
  • The Sid Vicious article regularly refers to him by his first name, in clear contradiction with MOS:SURNAME. The same goes for Nancy Spungen being referred to by her first name.
  • Additionally his highschool nickname "John Beverly" is not something he is widely known as and therefore referring to him as such violates MOS:BADNICK.
  • Michael Morra should be referred to by his stage name Rockets Redglare per MOS:NICK. The cited sources refer to him as Redglare, not Morra.

I don't always get it right. This was one of those times. Sorry 'bout that. Your subsequent edits showed I goofed. DarkAudit (talk) 04:33, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on PowerHouse Books (rm) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Hi there! You tagged OpenDocument adoption as needing external links cleanup, but that page has no external links. What did you have in mind? Oona Wikiwalker (talk) 22:32, 21 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Oona. The South Africa, Romania, and United States sections appear to have a few external links in the article body. Most of these are cited articles/reports that just need to be converted to references. There was also an external link in the Italy section, but I've now taken care of it. Ronald MacKeith

[edit]

Hi @Risedemise: Thanks for updating the Ronald MacKeith article. Remember the MOS:ENGVAR applies. If the article is already written in a national variety of English, it must be kept it that. scope_creepTalk 21:56, 12 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Risedemise -- I've declined this A7 because there are several claims in the article eg winning/being nominated for minor prizes. I'd also suggest with longstanding articles that it is usually best to take them to articles for deletion, rather than trying speedy; a longstanding article has been covertly accepted by multiple editors and thus is not a good candidate for deletion by just the opinion of two editors. On a more careful look, however, in this instance the case for notability does look a bit slim, so you could perhaps try proposed deletion and see if anyone objects.
