File permission problem with File:Prof. Eric Grimson.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Prof. Eric Grimson.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 20:46, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

DYK nomination of Biodiversity of Wales

[edit]

Hello! Your submission of Biodiversity of Wales at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! BlueMoonset (talk) 23:20, 19 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I am aware of the problem. Everything seems fine apart from there's no other sources to cite the evolution section, help is welcomed. --RexRowanTalk 10:11, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
From what was said in the review, the problem is that the Evolution section is an overly closely paraphrase of material from that one source, not that there was only the single source. Unless the text can be rewritten so it doesn't so closely mirror that source, the DYK cannot be passed. From what you just said, it doesn't sound like you plan to make the attempt to reparaphrase. Do you? BlueMoonset (talk) 20:41, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No, I would like to drop the nomination. --RexRowanTalk 09:10, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wolfram Alpha?

[edit]

What does being a curator of Wolfram Alpha mean? If it means you help maintain it then I have to thank you. I probably should have made wolfram alpha my home page last year. Ryan Vesey 15:46, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, you provide thoughts on what they should improve and stuff, add data to the projects and earn points. I like the structure a lot, but it still needs a lot of work. For example, if you search IQ, you get some simple data, but when you search EQ, there is nothing, if you search Emotional Intelligence, there's not enough data. You can give feedback in the box on the bottom and they will get in touch with you. Here is the Volunteer Central[1]and here is the community Forum[2].:D --RexRowanTalk 15:50, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Awwwww. Thanks for the kitten. Lol. You have been very nice. So- here's a bird in the snow- a symbol of the winter. I like the winter because you can sit by the fire and drink hot chocolate. DEIDRA C. (talk) 17:15, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much! I like nature and animals, I also like chocolate and fresh cream! Don't be discouraged by minor setbacks, you gotta have thick skin on Wikipedia, it is not a place for people with timid nature. Ask Worm, I was way worse than you, I committed Wiki suicide and did quite a few stupid things. We all learn and we move on to become better editors. If you need any help, just buzz me. :D --RexRowanTalk 17:27, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Hi Rex. I find myself becoming rather concerned with your knowledge about copyright policies on Wikipedia. You've had two articles flagged for copyvio/paraphrasing issues at DYK, and I've found three more - Eric Grimson, Federation Day, and Petrus van Schendel - with serious issues. Five articles is enough to take to WP:CCI; I'd rather not do that if I can avoid it, but you really need to read and understand Wikipedia:Copyrights, Wikipedia:Plagiarism, and Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Furthermore, while copying from other Wikipedia articles is allowed, you need to include attribution for such copying as outlined at WP:CWW; edits like this one, for example, which copy from another Wikipedia article without saying where the text is from, are not okay. Nikkimaria (talk) 18:34, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, thank you for the reminder and I am aware of these issues, I tried to correct a few articles but haven't covered all. Unfortunately I am currently busy in real life which re-editing is difficult, if you find anything that does not meet the standard, feel free to take them down or comment them out. I would not mind at all. Thank you for your understanding! --RexRowanTalk 19:38, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Llandeilo Primary School, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages ICT and National curriculum (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 11:05, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Llandeilo Primary School has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable primary school

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on The Painting & Drawing Channel, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Sionk (talk) 17:35, 17 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
