Image deletion
Hi. I'm confused by the tag you put on File:Soul2SoulII2006.jpg. If an image is being used on a fair use basis, why does it matter exactly what its source was? There's no doubt that it is under copyright, but the fair use rationale should allow it to be included in the one article where it is. Or have I missed something here? Thanks. - Every image, regardless of its copyright status, must have some source information, be that own work, a URL, whatever. But Google Images does not count because that is only a search engine. Please note WP:NACD "Closing discussions in which you have offered an opinion or for a page in which you have a vested interest (i.e. a page that you have edited heavily) should be avoided." You can't close it and drmies was withdrawing his personal attack - the nomination was by me not him and his withdrawal had nothing to do with the nomination. - Could we please avoid piling on and needlessly denigrating other users? That comment is neither productive nor conducive to a pleasant editing environment, and while it does demonstrate some prior history of trouble surrounding NACs, there is a very simple solution here. WikiCup 2012 September newsletter
We're over half way through the final, and so it is less than a month until we know for certain our 2012 WikiCup champion. 
Grapple X (submissions) currently leads, followed by 
Sasata (submissions), 
Cwmhiraeth (submissions) and 
Casliber (submissions). However, we have no one resembling a breakaway leader, and so the competition is a long way from over. Next month's newsletter will feature a list of our winners (who are not necessarily only the finalists) and keep your eyes open for an article on the WikiCup in a future edition of The Signpost. The leaders are already on a par with last year's winners, but a long way from the huge scores seen in 2010. That said, a repeat of the competition from 2010 seems unlikely.
It is good to see that three-quarters of our finalists have already scored bonus points this round. This shows that, contrary to criticism that the WikiCup has received in the past, the competition does not merely incentivise the writing of trivial articles; instead, our top competitors are still spending their time contributing to high-importance articles, and bringing them to a high standard. This does a great service to the encyclopedia and its readers. Thank you, and good work!
The planning for next year's WikiCup is ongoing. Some straw polls have been opened concerning the scoring, and you can now sign up for next year's competition. GOCE September 2012 drive wrap-up
Guild of Copy Editors September 2012 backlog elimination drive wrap-up
 Participation: Out of 41 people who signed up this drive, 28 copy-edited at least one article. Thanks to all who participated! Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. Progress report: We achieved our primary goal of clearing July, August, September and October 2011 from the backlog. This means that, for the first time since the drives began, the backlog is less than a year. At least 677 tagged articles were copy edited, although 365 new ones were added during the month. The total backlog at the end of the month was 2341 articles, down from 8323 when we started out over two years ago. We completed all 54 requests outstanding before September 2012 as well as eight of those made in September. Copy Edit of the Month: Voting is now over for the August 2012 competition, and prizes will be issued soon. The September 2012 contest is closed for submissions and open for voting. The October 2012 contest is now open for submissions. Everyone is welcome to submit entries and to vote. – Your drive coordinators: Stfg, Allens, and Torchiest. - And I found another problem that Lego missed:the article on Ricky Dilliard which he prodded, I took a look at it, and it was obviously professionally written, so I checked the ref to his bio on his blog, and there it was, at http://rickydillardlive.blogspot.ca/2008/01/biography-ricky-dillard.html .I deleted as G12 When something looks both smooth & promotional, I usually find something like that.
- It is absolutely essential for any promotional page that you check the websites. Sometimes, like here, they're conveniently listed in the article. Sometime they're not, and that's a real warning sign that the editor is just a little more clever. Every contemporary person who might conceivably be notable in the US and Europe at least has at least one personal page somewhere.
- The rough criterion for accepting AfCs is the that they must be able to pass speedy and have at least a decent chance of passing AfD, It is no help to the editor to accept something that won't. The most basic check is for copyvio. You should try to develop a greater awareness of its prevalence. DGG ( talk ) 04:15, 6 October 2012 (UTC)

I have noticed I am mentioned quite frequently in the above oppose. I agree with your well thought-out points about co-noms perhaps targeting me after my recent neutral !vote in this RfA. Two things I need to say though; I think that the co-noms investigating my AfC reviews was sparked by a recent event on IRC (no screenshots this time) involving Fire and Water. It was just a coincidence they were nominators, although that could have had something to do with it. Also, what do you mean by whistle-blower? Don't get it. After I had made a few PROD nominations, I asked Dru of Id in the public #wikipedia-en-helpers channel to review my PRODs to ensure that they were within policy, and asked him to do so a few more times that night. - Once again, I would like to apologize if it came on as I was targeting or attacking you for your vote, that simply was not the case. I discovered that an AFC reviewed article was lower quality than I expected it to be, and noticed that you were the reviewer. I decided to go through a few other articles, and after the first 3 I marked, I made the decision to go through the rest because they were not up to the quality that I expect out of AFC articles. I tagged a total of 17 articles for PROD (removing one after consulting with another user on IRC), and 2 were tagged for speedy. User:DGG then did the due diligence and noticed that Ricky Dilliard was a copyvio. He left me a note on my talk page, so I let him know that I would check through the rest for copyvios. I found two partial copyvios (listed at User_talk:DGG#Eric_Mika) and one blatant copyvio (Meriem Maza), which has since been deleted. The others seemed to check out.
- I also tried to PROD when possible so there would be a buffer period of 7 days and so other users could object (as one did), and I also believe another PROD tag was removed after some content removal.

I must say your message on here was rather unprecedented, what with us never having made our acquaintance before or you being involved in the subject of the section (afaik). Now, in response to it, I'm afraid I must inform you that no, I am not a follower of Fascist ways, however much you may have been hoping I said yes. You appear to be saying that like its a bad thing and I must remind you of WP:NPOV. So what if I am?
- I will point you towards User:Rcsprinter123/Station symbols. This SS thing was brought up on a recent RfD in which the redirect of Wikipedia:Operation SS was put into question. I must tell you that it simply means "station symbols" and has absolutely nothing to do with the Schutzstaffel, this is merely coincidental. Furthermore, why not do it on my own? Is there a rule against that? Not like its entirely private anyway; people are encouraged to help. On my defence the thousands of pages I have added it to we're largely clean additions and have had no trouble at all. I won't just stop, although I do stop and start whenever I feel like it.

- I had no idea what that meant and the reference to SS was a "light hearted" comment to break the ice since, as you pointed out, we have never communicated before. I am not poking my nose in - you are, by stomping over Canadian railway stations, and creating duplicate Wililinks there without properly explaining what this is about. . . . and Yes - I will help, whenever I am editing Via stations. If you look at Abbotsford railway station, that I refer to above, you will see that I have removed the previous, now redundant, link to Via Rail and cleaned up the look of the infobox heading. Some Confusion
Dear Rcsprinter123. You recently rejected an article, [1], saying that it contained phrases from something called "noozley.com", "shutking.blogspot.com" and "waatp.com". However, those sites are not related to the article, and the article certainly does not contain phrases from them. It's a programme of lessons with a test at the end, resulting in "graduation". I am currently taking on new adoptees, but only want to focus on one at a time due to real life commitments. WikiCup 2012 October newsletter
The 2012 WikiCup has come to a close; congratulations to Cwmhiraeth (submissions), our 2012 champion! Cwmhiraeth joins our exclusive club of previous winners: Dreamafter (2007), jj137 (2008), Durova (2009), Sturmvogel 66 (2010) and Hurricanehink (2011). Our final standings were as follows:

Prizes for first, second, third and fourth will be awarded, as will prizes for all those who reached the final eight. Every participant who scored in the competition will receive a ribbon of participation. In addition to the prizes based on placement, the following special prizes will be awarded based on high performance in particular areas of content creation. So that the finalists do not have an undue advantage, the prize is awarded to the competitor who scored the highest in any particular field in a single round.
- The featured article award goes to Grapple X (submissions), for four featured articles in the final round.
- The good article award also goes to Grapple X (submissions), for 19 good articles in the second round.
- The list award goes to Muboshgu (submissions), for three featured lists in the final round.
- The topic award goes to Grapple X (submissions), for three good topics (with around 40 articles) in round 4.
- The did you know award goes to Cwmhiraeth (submissions), for well over 100 DYKs in the final round.
- The news award goes to
ThaddeusB (submissions), for 10 in the news items in round 3. - The picture award goes to
Grandiose (submissions), for two featured pictures in round 2. - The reviewer award goes to both Ruby2010 (submissions) (14 reviews in round 1) and Grandiose (submissions) (14 reviews in round 3).
- Finally, for achieving an incredible bonus point total in the final round, and for bringing the top-importance article frog to featured status, a biostar has been awarded to Cwmhiraeth (submissions).
Awards will be handed out in the coming days; please bear with us! This year's competition also saw fantastic contributions in all rounds, from newer Wikipedians contributing their first good or featured articles, right up to highly experienced Wikipedians chasing high scores and contributing to topics outside of their usual comfort zones. It would be impossible to name all of the participants who have achieved things to be proud of, but well done to all of you, and thanks! Wikipedia has certainly benefited from the work of this year's WikiCup participants.
Next year's WikiCup will begin in January. Currently, discussions and polls are open, and all contributions are welcome. You can also sign up for next year's competition. There will be no further newsletters this year, although brief notes may be sent out in December to remind everyone about the upcoming competition.
