University of Houston Wikiproject

[edit]

I'm considering proposing a new Wikiproject for the University of Houston. I'm looking to see if other Wikipedians would be interested in being involved in such a project. Are you? Thanks for your response! Brianreading 06:28, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've replied to your message on my talkpage. Brianreading 19:24, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Edits made my Kim Jagger

[edit]

Hello, Kim Jagger and I work for Gerald D. Hines. She made edits about him bio on wikipedia, but it seems that her version was removed and the previous version was placed back. I am wondering why that happened. Please let me know what needs to be done so that her version can be viewed on wikipedia. She is the Director of Media and Communications for Hines. You can be sure that her version on Mr. Gerald Hines' biography is most accurate.

Thank you,

The Cougar redirect page

[edit]

Hi, I noticed you reverted my change of this page to redirect to Cougar (disambiguation). The title the Cougar could refer to more things than The Daily Cougar and as a result directing it to Cougar (disambiguation) seems to be the most appropriate place. An example of another thing it could refer to -- The Cougar was a comic book series that existed in the 1970s and there are others. If some random person were to type in The Cougar, ask yourself truthfully, in most cases will they be looking for The Daily Cougar. I don't think this would be the case 90% of the time.

I'd like to hear your argument about why you feel this is the most appropriate place for this title to redirect to though. Stephen Day 02:45, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So what if there was a comic book that existed in the 1970s? The Cougar (now The Daily Cougar) has been in existence since 1927 and serves the University of Houston with a population of over 35,000 students—and 240,000 graduates—in the fourth-largest city of the U.S. Can you give me any other example other than that comic book? A former name of a major college newspaper should redirect to the current name—not to a disambiguation page. What would people be looking for 90 percent of the time when they type in "The Cougar" then? —RJN 03:49, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That was just an example. My point was that if a random person were to type in The Cougar, don't you think that in most cases that person would be trying to find something that is linked from Cougar (disambiguation) rather than The Daily Cougar?
Other examples, OK The Mercury Cougar, The F-9 Cougar, both could be mistakenly typed in as The Cougar. Even the main article for the title could be mistakenly looked for by an inexperienced user as The Cougar. Stephen Day 07:19, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've put a disambiguation sentence at the top of The Daily Cougar. I'm hoping this is an agreeable solution to our disagreement. :) -- Stephen Day (talk) 22:23, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Happy Thanksgiving

[edit]

Hi RJN, I just wanted to wish you a happy Thanksgiving (I know, a little late) to one of the Houston old-faithfuls. :) Best wishes for the upcoming holiday season! Postoak (talk) 00:31, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A.D. Bruce

[edit]

Hello, RJN. I noticed you removed the "first chancellor" part from A.D. Bruce's description on the List of Texas A&M University people article. Wasn't he the first chancellor? This source says so. BlueAg09 (Talk) 01:33, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I see. Thanks for the info. BlueAg09 (Talk) 01:37, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Gamma

[edit]

Sorry about the gamma thing, I think we were reverting him at the same time and I ended up reverting you instead of him. Postoak 20:24, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
