1979 local elections

[edit]

It's really good to see the new pages you've created recently for council elections. I might build on these myself in the coming weeks, as I'm planning to review and touch up all articles on Irish local elections ahead of the June 2024 elections. A small note thing to note on sources. The IrelandElection.com website is a great resource, and I use it myself frequently. However, it does fall under the category of a self-published source, as opposed to a reliable published source. For older 20th century elections, it might be the best comprehensive data we have, so we should use it in building out those pages (supplemented where possible with newspaper reports, and any academic coverage). But with the 1979 election, I think we use should the officially published results in the first instance. Iveagh Gardens (talk) 08:19, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited The Irish People (party), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Neutrality. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

What are you talking about? How am I being "disruptive"?! Elva Reichel (talk) 10:48, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In all the undo edit spam, you reverted a couple of spelling corrections back to incorrect ones. Those weren't necessary reverts, and fit being disruptive if you aren't properly checking what you are reverting. R0paire-wiki (talk) 10:52, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for reporting that vandal! I think it's the same vandal as yesterday. I also replied by adding that they also vandalized the 1953 West German federal election and the fact that they change IPs. The vandal may be a communist as they keep mentioning the "bourgeois state". Hlsci (talk) 08:50, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I think so too. ARV will probably stop them for now, but if they keep changing IPs it probably won’t be for long. R0paire-wiki (talk) 08:53, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The best course of action would be to protect the pages the vandal is especially interested in. Hlsci (talk) 08:55, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah that’s likely the best course of action R0paire-wiki (talk) 08:56, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Improper Reversals

[edit]

Hello,

While I see no indication of it being in bad faith, you have twice reversed my edits without just cause. In the first place, the fact of a marriage between Abelard and d'Argentfuil renders "wife" more proper than "lover." As to the other issue, I did, in fact, provide two sources. One was from a Rabbi and professor. The other from a well-respected Calvinist ministry. Both agree with the "dedication" view as opposed to a sacrifice. Both are proper in this circumstance. Why does this article describe the latter as the main opinion? I can find a reference in a source that it is supposedly the majority view in history, but it doesn't actually list any commentators and the author himself disagrees with the notion. Lastly, you reversed even the minor style changes I made (adding first names to make it uniform). Why did you do this? You appear to be using some sort of program. Was it unintentional? Shouldn't you check each item individually rather than erase everything? Thank you,

TanRabbitry (talk) 18:18, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The second source you cited is not WP:RS and the first source requires attribution (e.g; "X in an article for Y stated...") alongside citing the source. The article for Héloïse states it was a "love affair" with a cited source to support it, so I'm more inclined to support that then an uncited wife edit.
The sacrifice mention also has an existing citation for it. I would create a discussion on the talk page regarding that change as it may be disputed due to the existing source.
Yes the reverts were done with a tool, and yes they were intentional for the aforementioned reasons. R0paire-wiki (talk) 18:32, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Cease and desist defaming me please

[edit]

Dear Roparire-wiki

You keep writing on the Wikipedia page about me that I was "found" to have lied and that I said "pedophile rings" were operating in the Northern Territory. Neither of these things are true and there is no evidence to support these claims. They are false and defamatory and this misinformation has on numerous occasions caused harm to me - including threats of violence based on hatred of mye by individuals who I do not know and who have read this misinformation. I was alleged to have lied by the former NT Chief Minister who was later forced to resign as a result of her misinformation and lack of action in relation to child abuse and neglect. The NT Treasurer made the same allegations. They were not "findings". The funding from the Independent Complaints Panel about the evidence that I gave on the ABC Lateline program was that I was a credible witness. There have never been finding that I lied. There have only be allegations. The findings were that I told the truth along with th other witnesses. Similarly, I have never used the term pedophile rings to describe what was happening. A Minister did. But not me. This is again, false and defamatory. Please cease and desist immediate. Respectfully, Gregory Andrews GregoryWAndrews (talk) 23:59, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The edits to the article have reliable sources support them, so there really isn't a valid reason for removal unless you have reliable sources stating the contrary.

You have yet to actually provide any reliable sources that absolve you of what is detailed in the article. The coroners report only makes a single general remark about your work which is far too broad to be construed as "his evidence wasn't false"; and the links to your website both fail WP:RS and don't actually support what you claim with them, and weirdly aren't available directly from the organisations that they are purported to come from.

You may not like what the article states, but it is neither false or defamatory if it is supported by reliable sources.

You have also been notified several times across a number of accounts and IPs that your WP:COI means you should not edit the article about you for the sake of neutrality. You can suggest edits via the talk page, but your edits thus far should inability to follow WP:NPOV.

If you are dead-set on 'rectifying' what you consider "false", I would suggest getting these news and media sources to publish their findings absolving you themselves or via wayback machine. R0paire-wiki (talk) 00:26, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The Independent panel's findings reference me as a credible witness and make no allegations or findings that I lied. I have given you this already. If you don't cease and desist I will pursue this through legal channels. Here is the link once more:

That is the type of sources I was referring to being WP:RS - however that particular source makes no reference to what you claim it does.
Also legal threats are prohibited on Wikipedia, see WP:LEGAL. R0paire-wiki (talk) 08:11, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Michael Sloan - Please make a change to my bio?

[edit]

Hello-this is Michael Sloan. Could you please make a change to my biography? The last sentence should read: “Michael is a member of PEN America, the Lute Society of America, and the Society of Illustrators.“ I would like to remove the part that mentions that I was a member of a Pulitzer prize jury since it turns out that that information should be confidential and not released to the public. Thank you! 38.126.98.218 (talk) 15:42, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed it, though do note that it was sourced from their website (you can find the links to the website pages in article history) so you may want to contact them about that also. Very welcome. R0paire-wiki (talk) 16:15, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
