I'm no IT expert
I'm no IT expert, but I've always assumed that you can't edit the history page -the comments are those you make manually when you edit the article, or are automatically generated by rollback or various bots. AFAIK, only developers can change history, and they are unlikely to do so without a very good reason.
You're right about vandalism, I have all the NAm species I've seen on my watchlist, and articles like Bald Eagle are regular targets
Let me know if I can help with any info for the missing articles. Most of these, almost by definition, are peripheral to the US, but I have the Croom Helm family guides for several families, and the field guides for Venezuela, Costa Rica and T&T for species having ranges extending that far south.

Hello, I noticed that you made a copy of Template:Infobox Town MA and changed the leader field to default to "Mayor". Were you planning on making any additional changes to the template? If that was the only change you were planning to do, your template is not really necessary as you can change the leader_title to whatever you want with Template:Infobox Town MA. -- Gogo Dodo 20:24, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
- Re your message: Ah, okay. Thryduulf already fixed the problem that prompted me to contact you [1]. I'm not familiar with how the government of cities/towns are usually setup in Massachusetts, but if the Worcester setup is common, you might want to modify the Infobox Town MA template to support the city manager, mayor, and city council. That way it can be used with other cities/towns. -- Gogo Dodo 22:18, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
Osprey
Your comment reminded me to ask a US editor to look at Osprey to check two points.
- Is the distinction bewteen the American and nominate ssp correct?
- The sex and age plumage distinctions are based on the nominate form. Do they apply to the American ssp too?
Thanks for any help you can give

Rock pigeon link removed?
Hello,
If you could take a minute, I'd like to know why you removed the link I added to the Rock pigeon article. Were those birds not rock pigeons? The article is just a stub, I'd like to expand it. Please reply on my talk page or the article talk page when you get a minute. Thank you!--Son of More 06:12, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

Import Wikitable from US House Current Members
Expanding on your idea of another list, how's this: I'd like to import the wikitable someone created for the List of current members of the United States House of Representatives and import it to the Congressional roster of the 110th Congress. The graphics I think make for a better read, although it does extend out the article a bit more. The other option is to link the table from a seperate article to the 110th. I'd also like to create the same wikitable for the U.S. Senators over the next few weeks. They then could be used as a template for future congresses as we move forward. Any strong thoughts either way. No comments I'd interpret as to go forward............ Pmeleski 12:22, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
- Sounds great, having this information (in the nice table format) integrated, rather in a separate article. Either way it will definitely be an improvement over the past situation. Let me know what I can do to help - it seems like you've got a lot of this under control. :-) Qqqqqq 18:26, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
The Sortable Table
Well, you can put them by state now by clicking on the sorting button in the state column. I'm not an expert with the techie stuff, the sortable CSS class only works when the cells are equally sized. But thank you for the compliment otherwise, feel free to help me finish that table off and/or expand it into new categories! Just H 01:05, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Massachusetts
Yellowdesk, I've made a first attempt at narrowing the focus of the Massachusetts article. I've also noticed there are now two articles of famous people from Massachusetts. One is the List I've created moving all the names off the Massachusetts article, the other is a previously named article . They should probably be merged. You can find them at the see also area for Category:People from Massachusetts. Let me know what you think of my consolidation.Pmeleski 00:15, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
- It's a start.
- Yes List of Famous people from Massachusetts should be merged with List of people from Massachusetts. I put in tags to do that.
- I think the various other historical "see also" items should be revived.
- There should be a section on people, so that editors will not be tempted to start new lists again, and cite the List of people from Massachusetts as the main article for that section.
* Probably desirable to create a stand-alone list for the federal parks/heritage/wildlife areas, and cite that list in some section.
-- Yellowdesk 20:22, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
- I found the stand-alone list for federally supervised areas. If you had described your edits all the time in the edit summary, I would not have missed it. It's good practice, and saves editors that are sympathetic to your efforts confusion and grief. -- Yellowdesk 04:43, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
I like the box. It seems to be looking much better. Ideally I see the article as a nice box, which it has, then a series of brief intros pointing to full articles. After all, our state is densely populated and has a long history, all of which is central to the history of the United States. Just about every topic can use an article. As to how much of this I will do, I don't know. It isn't my area of interest. One thing leads to another in Wikipedia and before you know it you are contributing to a chain of articles all of which have to be corrected or filled in before you can do the thing in which you originally were interested. Thanks for the invite.Dave 15:59, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Stonechat
Hi. You asked me about Stonechats a little while ago. The simplest answer is that there is no common agreement yet on whether the three groups of subspecies should be treated as separate species; however, some authorities haven't yet considered the split proposal, so their current sticking with the status quo (lumping the three) shouldn't be taken as support for lumping. In terms of the American list, I'd suggest sticking with the AOU approach for the moment (you could add a note though, to explain that Siberian Stonechat is the taxon involved). Do come back to me if you'd like to discuss further. SP-KP 11:46, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

tags
I appreciate what you are doing, tagging bird articles, a useful and necessary job. However, I have concerns about the number you are tagging as stub level. Few, if any, of the article have a stub tag, and most are a reasonable length. Whilst many could be expanded, they are not stubs, and imho should not be tagged as such on the article or talk pages. Thanks, jimfbleak 11:21, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

I've also noticed some of the delegations (i.e. NH, CT and VT-there may be others ) have A/L representation listed at the ordinal congresses, but listed as district representation when you look at the congressional rosters from each state. The ordinal congresses are cited, so I'm fixing NH right now. Not sure if it's a big deal, but thought I'd try to correct those delegatons. Does take a bit of time.......Pmeleski 11:31, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
- Can you give me an example of an ordinal congress that has the error you're asking about? Thanks. --Appraiser 02:07, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
The ordinal Congresses seem to be fine, since those are referenced. But the rosters from some states list district representation when they should be at-large (i.e. New Hampshire). For example, from 1789-1847 all reps were elected at-large according to the early ordinal congresses. However, the representative congressional roster shows them elected by distict. Not a big deal, but slightly innacurate. CT and VT also appear this way. There may be other states.Pmeleski 00:59, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm...I would have thought the delegations articles were more accurate. They were all done before I started, but I usually go by them when creating ordinal congress articles. If you find any errors that you don't fix yourself, will you put a note on the corresponding talk page? Thanks.--Appraiser 13:22, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Congressional biographies
Where are you copying these from? Please include your source. Also, you must write in complete sentences, this is not a list-serve of snipettes, it's an encyclopedia. Please clean up biographies you have already adding by rewriting in complete sentences, and including the source you copied it from showing that it is not in copyright. Thank you. KP Botany 22:09, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- It would only take you five minutes more to write the article in complete sentences, whereas I, because I don't have the source handy, spent fifty minutes rewriting one of them. It is worse than having nothing, because the style is so poor they look like the sort of articles that need deleted, and this creates far more work for people to correct, discuss and research, than it would be to just write it in English the first time around. Please just write complete sentences, so that you have robust stubs that can just sit parked until someone is ready to work on them. Also, please quote your source, whether it's copyrighted or not. Thanks. KP Botany 22:35, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

One pretty good reason for

List of United States Representatives from New Jersey
Hi! I was cleaning up the NJ US Rep Delegation and came across the aforementioned list. Was going to add/fix links on the New York List as I had time but had a thought before proceeding. Is this type of list kind of duplicative if all the reps are alphabetized already under Category: United States Representatives from New Jersey?????? The list is not as colorful, but most of the same type of info is available there? 1 less thing to maintain??????...Pmeleski (talk) 12:27, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
- From time to time these "List of United States Representatives from" articles are nominated for AFD because in most cases they offer less information than the "United States Congressional Delegations from" articles. User:Markles is probably the major supporter of these articles, probably because he spent a lot of time on the one for Massachusetts. There is some discussion about them here. There is plenty of work to do, especially in the New York Delegations article, but I suggest that you work on whichever ones interest you the most. I know you would get resistance trying to delete any "List of United States Representatives from" articles though. Thanks for all your help creating missing articles for members of congress.--Appraiser (talk) 18:07, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

FYI
Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to move American Hog-nosed Skunk by copying its content and pasting it into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is considered undesirable because it splits the page history which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other articles that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. NOTE: 1) The re-name is proper per MSW3 (so thanks for re-naming the article); 2) This was from Feb. 10, 2008 (so sorry for not catching right away); & 3) I apologize for templating a regular, but this template seemed benign and is very informative. --Tombstone (talk) 14:36, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

Falcipennis and Dendragapus
Hi. I noticed you changed Falcipennis to a redirect to Dendragapus. I have no opinions on whether there's one genus or two, but could you tell me what authority you're following? —JerryFriedman (Talk) 23:05, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. I wish we had some standard authority for taxonomy. I might mention that the authorities you quoted—Clements, the IUCN/BirdLife International, and the AOU—seem to be taken less seriously around here than most others. I had to add Falcipennis because it wasn't in the IUCN, so Polbot didn't add it.
- Has there been a pattern that when BirdLife International makes a change, others follow? —JerryFriedman (Talk) 18:45, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarifications.
- I think you're misreading the WP:BIRD policy. It says, "The de facto standard for Wikipedia bird articles is Handbook of Birds of the World (HBW) for the northern hemisphere, and the Handbook of Australian, New Zealand and Antarctic Birds (HANZAB) for groups from that region. These should be used for all articles except for those dealing with a country or region, where the appropriate local official list should be used, as in List of North American birds and British Birds." The way I understand this is that in articles on taxa we should follow HBW and HANZAB, and "local official lists" such as the AOU's check-list only affect articles on regions.
- I think we more or less ignore the IUCN. Last year when Polbot created all those genus and species stubs following the IUCN, we went through and created all the genus articles that were in HBW but not in IUCN.
- It's very interesting to learn that the AOU typically follows Clements. We'll see what happens this fall. I believe the ABA's policy is to automatically follow the AOU in all taxonomy.
- You're quite right to point out that our policy of going by HBW is repeatedly violated. For one thing, the earlier volumes of HBW are out of date; the one that covered grouse was published in 1994. That's why I'm not trying to defend HBW on this point.
- When I asked at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Birds about overruling HBW on something (maybe Sociable Weaver instead of Social Weaver), I was told to be bold but have a justification in case I was challenged. That's what you did. I may be the only person who watches Falcipennis, but other people must have been watching Grouse, and since they didn't object and you're following a reasonable authority, I'm not going to object. But it's nice to say in the article, talk page, or edit summary what the basis is. —JerryFriedman (Talk) 16:30, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi, not sure exactly what you are asking, the three web refs you list (IUCN, Birdlife, Audubon) all work fine for me, possible a server might have been down temporally, since these rarely give trouble otherwise? Or have I misunderstood your question? jimfbleak (talk) 05:39, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
ʻĀmaui
Sure - IUCN treats it as distinct http://www.iucnredlist.org/search/details.php/40150/summ following BirdLife http://www.birdlife.org/datazone/species/index.html?action=SpcHTMDetails.asp&sid=6348&m=0 which also gives some sources. But ultimately it boils down to this. To which may be added the observation from here that a clear biogeographic break can be seen between Passeriformes from Oʻahu vs those of Maui Nui. So the Maui Nui forms would probably best considered subspecies, whereas the others would qualify as species. The entire group of course is a very close-knit complex. The corrections you made this morning, however, were not right. For example, according to your edits, Samuel Lyman served in the 4-5th and 6th; and Ebenezer Mattoon served in the 6th and 6th-7th. That's redundant for Mattoon. The way I'd tried to leave it had Lyman in the 4-5th and 6th; and Mattoon in the 6th and 7th.—Markles 12:12, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

"elected to fill vacancy"
All members of the House who fill vacancies are elected - there is no other way to become a representative. Thus, "elected to fill vacancy" is redundant for House members. If you know the date of his/her installation, you could replace it with "July 3, 1923 – End". If you don't you should not bother putting in anything other than the new person's name. Pennsylvania's 9th congressional district
At the beginning of the 13th Congress, the districts changed. So on March 4, 1813, the seat to which Smilie had been re-elected, became the 13th district. Smilie represented the 9th until he died on 12/30/1812. On 3/4/1813 two things happened: A) Bard was moved to the 9th from the 4th; and B) the 9th seat, still vacant, became the 13th seat. On 5/24/1813, Griffin was elected to the seat which is now in the 13th district. Got it?—Markles 15:03, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

VA-1 and confederate reps
I'm OK with what you've done to eliminate confederate reps from VA-1. We list those civil war seats as vacant in other articles, so I see no reason to list them there. However, you may want to consult http://bioguide.congress.gov to make sure. Virginia did not secede until April 1861, and some reps from seceding states opted to remain in Congress (like Andrew Johnson). So, you would include them up until the time their seat was declared vacant by the House. I'm not privy to your sources, but those are my thoughts. They would be listed as members until the point that they resign their seat or are expelled from the House.DCmacnut<> 21:27, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
Another clarification. I hadn't realized that someone was adding CSA representatives to the list, as opposed to claiming these were US reps (for example from a Union-friendly district prior to the creation of West Virginia). I agree 100% with removing CSA reps from this list. Those are more appropriate in a stand-alone article about representation in the CSA House of Representatives. Sorry for the confusion. I would still recommend bioguide as a good source, though.DCmacnut<> 21:31, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Reviewer granted
Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. The Rambling Man (talk) 17:39, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

44th Congress change
Regarding this change. Should you also change the party summary?—Markles 15:34, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of Eastern Whip-poor-will, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Whip-poor-will. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 21:48, 25 December 2010 (UTC)
Unsubstantiated changes
You have been making various changes to bird taxonomy, some of which I have reverted. I have two objections - firstly, you provide no cites to support the changes and, secondly, you erase any history of the species ever having been considered in any other taxonomic position. If you want to change taxonomy you should at least note the deposed synonym in the article. What list are you using for your birds? For exampel Aimophila botterii, this is considered Aimophila by every current list (see [2]) but you decide to change ti to Peucaea. Why? --Chuunen Baka (talk • contribs) 13:45, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
- You wrote: A number of changes from the AOU (American Ornithologists Union) occurred this past August. Others weren't changed yet (i.e. the Aimophila Sparrows, the Greater Antillean Oriole, the Verivora New World Warblers, the Elepaio and the Whip-poor-will splits) so I changed them.....
- You seem to take the latest AOU list as some god-given fact that has alway been and always will be. You can't just erase the existing taxonomy without (a) citation justifying the change and (b) noting in the article that the taxonomy has been changed in some lists (but not all). --Chuunen Baka (talk • contribs) 10:19, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
- Will you please stop making edits without adding a cite for the change. If changing to recent partially adopted taxonomy, please remark on that in the article rather then just doing a bulk replace of the previous name. Chuunen Baka (talk • contribs) 15:45, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Also according to Wikipedia:WikiProject_Birds#Taxonomy and references the standard is the IOC list [3] for articles and the appropriate local official list for regional lists as in List of North American birds. So in the article Botteri's Sparrow should be Aimophila (but maybe add a synonym with cite for Peucaea). --Chuunen Baka (talk • contribs) 16:02, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Copy-paste moves
Hi there, thanks for updating several article to their current names. When fixing the names, it is best to use the move button rather than to copy-paste a new entry and convert the old to a redirct. The move retains the edit history - the copy-paste gives the appearance that you wrote the entire article. Sometimes the moves may fail because there is a pre-existing page on the destination - you can then post a note on WT:BIRD and someone can fix that. Shyamal (talk) 16:31, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
Bird taxonomy again
Hi. I hope you're keeping in mind that the IOC is our standard for English names only. For scientific names and for lumps and splits, it's just another source.
Unfortunately, we have no standard source for bird taxonomy. In my opinion, you shouldn't make taxonomic changes on Wikipedia unless you've reviewed the secondary sources (such as checklists and monographs) and have some understanding of the primary sources they're based on. As I'm not capable of evaluating those sources, I don't make taxonomic changes.
Steve Pryor, who knows a good deal more about this than I do, doesn't trust any of the current regional and world checklists and has suggested that the next edition of Howard and Moore will be better and we should wait till comes out.
In the meantime, when authorities such as the AOU or the IOC make changes, I think we should mention that in the articles. For instance, "This species is placed in genus X following these authorities, but these other authorities place it in genus Y."
What do you think? Maybe we should discuss this at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Birds. —JerryFriedman (Talk) 15:28, 6 August 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, it's a big mess, and I'm not doing much to help. My only advice is to focus on things like inconsistencies, and not worry about keeping up with changes, such as what the IOC did with Bonasa or the SACC did with Pipile. Or if you do want to take changes into account, add them to articles ("the SACC treats it this way") without changing our taxonomy. —JerryFriedman (Talk) 15:54, 7 August 2011 (UTC)

Classification
Woah, hang on. Paleobio database is good for some things but it seems to be following Livesey and Zusi, exclusively, and as far as I know no other fossil bird workers have adopted their extremely quirky and flawed taxonomy. Their "Odontoholomorphae" seems to be a synonym of Odontoclae, which is an 1800s name for the group of toothed birds, which is not recognized by any modern researchers. Most of their groups are paraphyletic, and some are both paraphyletic and contain groups which have never even been proposed to be close relatives, without comment (Rahonavis + enantiornithes, Archaeopteryx + Confuciusornis, etc.). I would classify L and Z as fringe and recommend it be excluded from fossil articles. MMartyniuk (talk) 17:46, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

Hi Pvmoutside, just wanted to let you know that Skier Dude has added the autopatrolled right to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the patroller right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. Wisconsin
Hi, I noticed you editing the Wisconsin districts pages. You added "The district from 2003 to 2013" maps However those added pictures are the exact same picture and file as the 2002 pictures in those page's infoboxes Since they were the exact same file. I deleted the extra picture. If the districts truly haven't changed since 2002 then simply update the caption to the infobox picture to show 2002-2013 Thanks --Jamo58 (talk) 12:59, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
District article problems
There's a user, User:ANTONI20, who means well when she/he edits district pages. Information has been added, but the editor makes additional changes such as removing old information, reformatting lists to out-of-use formats, and using reverse chronological order. You can find some of our discussions on her/his and my talk pages. Please keep an eye on this editor's work as it overlaps with yours. Let's make helpful suggestions and keep this editor doing good work. It's frustrating, but maybe she/he will learn.—GoldRingChip 01:13, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

Contributions
My contributions have been rather insightful, however I have come across an arrogant egoistical wannabe Congressional historian (GoldRingChip). Why are we reverting back to Census 2000 figures, when I have placed updated 2010 Census figures? Why are we listing towns in a district from ten years earlier? Why not list the towns present in 1990, 1980, 1970, 1960, and 1950. We can make the page appear even more presentable. Why are we listing electoral results are the bottom of the page, with the latest first and the earliest last? It's quite absurb. Maybe the Baby Boehner prodigy gets enjoyment out of this, but I think its quite pathetic. Also, if we're going to list electoral results, then why stop at 1992? Why not go into 1910, 1866, 1824, and 1810? Wikipedia is not the National Archives, GoldRingChip seems to thinks it actually is. Rather than undoing my edits, like an immature prodigy son, maybe he should consider some of my recommendations. I do not think electoral results beyond a certain year are relevant and rather they belong on the individual member's page. I also do not think it is relevant listing towns in a district from 40 years ago, yet he seems to think that such is. If the purpose is to get reader's to understand that what they're viewing, then information overload is not necessary. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ANTONI20 (talk • contribs) 06:17, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
- I think GoldRingChip is trying to save as much info as possible which isn't necessarily a bad idea...Let me take your ideas 1 step at a time:
1) We should use the 2010 census figures, but I can't find a place where they relate to the new disticts......do you have a source, and can you share it?
2)The towns (within reason) should be listed comprehensively in the district history section (see MA District 3)
3) Election results, latest first so people can find it earlier than scrolling down to the end of the section. If you can find earlier results than what is posted, by all means have at it....just list a source.
Bottom line, I've found GoldRingChip to be a pretty reasonable guy when I have dealt with him in the past. Just discuss things with him before you do them, I'm sure he'll be reasonable. If not, let me know. Sometimes what we think is illogical makes sense to someone.......Pvmoutside (talk) 19:20, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
Your edit
Your edits reverting my removal of outdated PVI are incorrect. How can you presume this is correct, when it is from 2006, and every single Congressional district boundaries, and therefore their ratings changed on January 3. CTF83! 11:40, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
- I pulled them off the Cook PVI for the 113th Congress. The references were old, so I deleted that instead.....Pvmoutside (talk) 13:53, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
- How about you go ahead and refernce the updated ones then, as is policy. And not to call you a liar, but it's highly suspect they are both the exact same, being that the 2nd district now has ultra liberal Iowa City. CTF83! 04:14, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
Warning
Please do not add or change content, as you did to Iowa's 2nd congressional district, without verifying it by citing reliable sources. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. CTF83! 04:39, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
- I think you are taking referencing a bit too far. It is very easy to research the CVPI from the Cook Political Report where ALL the CVPI's come from. Did you look it up? Using your logic, we should reference each congressman, and each district because they are not verified.....Pvmoutside (talk) 04:46, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
- No need to be condescending, read WP:V I challenged what you had, and you're required to verify it, if you allegedly have the 2013 numbers no reason to not source it. I did a search with no luck CTF83! 05:34, 10 January 2013 (UTC)

- Thanks!!! I did look but apparently you are a better searcher then me. Appreciate the findings! :) CTF83! 11:17, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
- If you continue to update district ratings, can you please put this after the rating, changing the access date to whenever you put it on there. Thanks!

Verify that photos match NRHP buildings
Hi Pvm ... Thanks for your photo contributions of NRHP-listed buildings. I've been going through photos in National Register of Historic Places listings in eastern Worcester, Massachusetts and adding date built and architectural style categories based on what's in the MACRIS database. I've come across a few that you took that I think may have gotten mixed up, although it's a little difficult to tell for sure based on the photos available in MACRIS and through Google Street View. I think the photo you identify as the John Johnson Three-Decker (140 Eastern St.) may actually be the Erick Kaller Three-Decker at 148 Eastern St. (when I zoom in on the photo, it looks like the number on the house is 148 and it looks like the photo MACRIS has for 148 Eastern St.). I think the one you identify as the Erick Kaller Three-Decker at 146 Eastern St. may actually be the John Johnson Three-Decker. And I think the one you identify as the Kaller Three-Decker at 148 Eastern St. is the one that's at 146 Eastern St. Can you check these photos? --sanfranman59 (talk) 21:17, 12 March 2013 (UTC)

From women's basketball to AAC to Ruddy Shelducks (with an SI sidetrack)
Did you ever watch Connections (TV series)?
I was reminded of it today.
I've been working on articles on basketball coaches, which led to wanting to see who will be in the American Athletic Conference next season, which led me to wodnering who wrote that well-researched article, so I decided to see who was working on it, which led me to you.
I noticed that Sarah left you a note indicating she was involved with the Smithsonian; I have a to-do item to talk to someone abut the Terms of Use of the Smithsonian, so I think I will contact Sarah.
I noticed you have a lot of interest in birds, and I'm trying to figure out how to respond to an OTRS email which involves birds, so here goes. Someone has provided an image that they believe are Ruddy Shelducks in Texas, and believes that is unusual. We aren't, as you know, into OR, and simply reporting that this is a photo of the bird in Texas feels ORish. But I'm out of my depth, so wondered if you had some thoughts.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 01:13, 6 May 2013 (UTC)

Rutgers Big East soccer
The same announcement that Denver was joining as an associate also stated that Rutgers would be an associate for 2014 season only. GWFrog (talk) 00:06, 3 June 2013 (UTC)

Denver will join members Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, St. John’s and Villanova, as well as Rutgers, who will remain with the league for one season." I'm not making this up out of thin air. I don't do an edit without some solid confirmation; in fact, I often revert edits so lacking. As far as there being no notice on the Big East website--- that site is being run by personnel from the future American Athletic Conference, not by the new Big East, so until the Big East Conference sets up its own website, much of what they are doing will be probably continue to be ignored by the current conference. - I think the reason Rutgers isn't saying anything about playing in the Big East next season is because there's no change--- They've been playing in the Big East, they'll continue in the Big East next year, just like this year, so no mention need be made--- But when they move the program to the B1G, that's a change that must be mentioned... GWFrog (talk) 23:32, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
- It's all just soooooo confusing. I'm not sure even the schools involved know what's going on... GWFrog (talk) 13:44, 4 June 2013 (UTC)

Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. Brambleclawx 14:09, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
- Can you at least explain your revert on the user's talk page, and perhaps cite a relevant guideline? Otherwise, you're just edit warring. Brambleclawx 14:15, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.
- Not sure if you saw my comment, but I have created a talk page for that user [[5]], so if you could discuss the issue with him/her instead of edit warring, that would be appreciated. Brambleclawx 14:02, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

New UB Leaders Category
Hi, I really like the new UB Leaders category that you created! That is awesome. I want to know how to create categories! At any rate, I wanted to let you know one detail regarding Martin Meyerson. There is an article about him on Wikipedia, though in your category, he is identified as Martin M. Meyerson, for example, in the article about Robert L. Ketter, and therefore, his article is not reflected and his name is red-linked. I wonder if you might update that, or I can try to. Nice job, again! Thanks, Daniellagreen (talk) (cont) 03:35, 19 July 2014 (UTC)
Request
Hi, I wondered if I might ask you for a little assistance regarding a new template that I created on Daniel R. Gernatt, Sr., found at the foot of that article, as well as that of his wife and son. It seems that I've found a glitch in the system, and I wondered if you might know how to correct it. After I created the template, I went back and edited it, adding the names of the man's daughters in the 'family' section. But, the daughters' names have not come up in the templates in the associated articles, including Daniel R. Gernatt, Sr., Flavia C. Gernatt, and Daniel R. Gernatt, Jr.. I wondered if you might know how to correct that, and would like to ask if you would correct it if you know how. I tried to correct that minor glitch in the template that you created about the UB leaders with regard to Martin Meyerson, but I wasn't able to, so I just left it alone. Perhaps you might know more about this type of thing than I do; I would appreciate your assistance as this is the first template that I've created and I'm trying to learn about it. Thanks, Daniellagreen (talk) (cont) 22:19, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

Chancellors of colleges of the University of California
Hi, I noticed you changes this template, from Chancellors of the University of California to Chancellors of colleges of the University of California. I don't think this was a good change. The problem is that the University of California does not have colleges, it has universities. It is one university made up of 10 universities. Like, UC Davis and UCLA are universities, not colleges. In fact, UC Davis, UCLA, etc are made up of colleges, which have deans, not chancellors. Could you please change this back? The grounds are that UC Davis, UCLA, etc do not call themselves colleges, they call themselves universities. Any colleges in the UC system have deans, not chancellors. Thank you. Logical Cowboy (talk) 13:00, 23 July 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, did you ever notice that I responded to you here? [6] "Chancellors of colleges of the University of California" is still really wrong, for all the reasons noted. Logical Cowboy (talk) 02:41, 2 August 2014 (UTC)
Future non conference opponents
Those are helpful lists but would be even more so if they included sources, not just because they should be included generally, but so the lists can be properly and easily updated as opponents are added, or some fall out (as is sure to happen in some of the further-out plans - a lot can change in a dozen years). Thanks! JohnInDC (talk) 17:05, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
Louisiana State University System presidents
Thank you for creating this navbox for the LSUS presidents, PVM. I work a lot on articles related to the University of Florida, and the overlap is John Lombardi, who was president of both UF and the LSUS. I've had creating a novbox for the LSUS presidents on my to-do forever, and I'm glad that you did it. Couple of follow-ups: (1) Could you tweak your new navbox so it includes the full common name for the LSUS presidents, like the University of Florida president navbox does? (2) Could you also edit the LSUS presidents' tenures so it follows the pattern "(1990–98)" per MOS:DATES? (3) Don't forget to delete the redundant LSUS succession boxes from the LSUS presidents' pages now that we have the much nicer navbox. I almost did these things myself, but it looks like this has become one of your personal projects, so I thought you would want to do it yourself. Cheers. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 03:36, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
Edit summaries, multiple consecutive edits
Hello, Pvmoutside, and thanks for your contributions. Here are a couple of general editing suggestions for you to consider:
- Please make a habit of providing an edit summary when you make a change to an article. Doing so makes it easier for your colleagues here to understand the intention of your edit.
- Plus, it will be easier for you and your co-editors to collaborate on articles if, instead of making multiple consecutive edits in rapid succession on an article, you use the "Show preview" button to view your changes incrementally before finally saving the page once you're satisfied with your edits. This keeps the page history of the article less cluttered.
Thanks in advance for considering these suggestions. Eric talk 03:33, 14 August 2014 (UTC)

Hello Pvmoutside, I see that you had worked on this bird's pages and that you know birds, so I hope you can help. Your contributions to Rutgers University
Your edits go against guidelines from WikiProject Rutgers that have been around for nearly a decade, like your creation of campus-specific infoboxes. And your deletion of the main Rutgers external link from Rutgers Scarlet Knights. The Rutgers university infobox should be (and was) the primary infobox for all Rutgers articles (and had been until your edits this year). All other infoboxes are subordinate to that one. You also should not refer to any campus as a main-campus. -Kai445 (talk) 03:31, 22 September 2014 (UTC)

I appreciate the fix to the article Rondo dwarf galago. I'm sorry I reverted you—I didn't have time to look closely, but now I can see this was a taxonomy issue between Groves and others. Moving species articles from Latin names to obscure common names
Hi Pvmoutside, I noticed you have moved a number of rodent species articles recently from Latin name titles to obscure (and basically unused) common name titles. I'd like to suggest that you not do this. Many of the common names that are derived from Mammal Species of the World articles, which use the genus name as part of the common name, are not in widespread use and are't really suitable for article titles. Regarding a page which you recently modified: I believe that a contribution made July 28, 2014, by MGMudel was purposefully slanted in order to cast the subject in a bad light. Lists of Caribbean reptiles and amphibians
This was unacceptable. Not only did you leave a rump amphibian page with three whole species in it, notwithstanding the very common coverage by reliable sources of an island's herpetofauna together, but more importantly you copied and pasted a lot of content without attribution (and if a split was to be done, you would have done much better to move the existing page to the reptile title and then split off the amphibians, thus keeping the bulk of the content with the history). I've restored the page back to the way it was, but I'll consider and discuss your reasons for any further changes. postdlf (talk) 19:00, 25 April 2015 (UTC)
- Looks like you did the same thing here with the Puerto Rico list, removing most of the list and then copying and pasting it without attribution (and suggesting you had created it by your edit summary) here.
I'm not going to undo that as I have no involvement with that particular page, and there are arguably enough amphibian species to merit a split. But you need to stop doing this until you both 1) discuss your proposed changes on the relevant talk pages, and 2) figure out how to do a WP:SPLIT properly so you're best preserving the history and not violating the editors' content licenses. postdlf (talk) 19:18, 25 April 2015 (UTC)
- Postdff...I split reptiles and amphibians Saint Lucia because the higher classes should have their respective pages for each political jurisdiction rather than have them lumped together. WP:Split does say to be bold. You are correct I should have cited the WP:Split properly, and should have kept the article with the more content in place, copying the lesser of the 2 content pieces, but the 20 or so articles should be split for consistency........I don't plan on creating articles beyond what is already established under reptiles and amphibians ....BTW, the Bahaman caracara article is doing just fine with a very little bit of content......I'd like to split the 20 articles following WP:Split procedures being bold if you have no objectionsPvmoutside (talk) 22:37, 25 April 2015 (UTC)
- Let's keep the discussion in one place; I have your talk page watchlisted.
On the Puerto Rico list split you've already done, I see you added {{split to}} to Talk:List of reptiles of Puerto Rico, but you've left one necessary field incomplete and another completely blank. You also did nothing to fix your failure to leave a meaningful edit summary, which I did my best to fix (as here). So you still have not yet been diligent enough to take the time to do this properly. How many other lists have you improperly split in this manner that also have yet to be fixed?
And I've already objected to your splitting of the St. Lucia list or any other Caribbean lists, and objected to you performing any splits without discussing them first on the lists' talk pages. postdlf (talk) 22:53, 25 April 2015 (UTC)
- So no need to be condencending. The original article was cleaned properly to reflect amphibians one page, reptiles on another. Most every country/political jurisdiction has a page with just one class identified to it, except for the Caribbean (see Lists of reptiles by region, Lists of amphibians by region). I was going to clean up and make the 20 pages consistent with the other nation/jurisdiction pages to avoid confusuion in the future (i.e. they should be ALL either split or ALL together.......Obviously you feel strongly to keep things as they are (inconsistent), I have no time to discuss the page changes, so I'll be moving to other places.......This isn't real important to me, I thought I was helping outPvmoutside (talk) 22:59, 25 April 2015 (UTC)

I was patrolling new pages and found this one that you recently created: 1999 Navy Midshipmen football team. In your edit summary you stated that you copied the material from another source. I am assuming from your contribution history that you might mean something else. You are probably aware that you can't copy and paste info from one place into wikipedia word-for-word. You have added a lot of great content and the encyclopedia is better because of all the work you've done already. I personally feel that those who create content should be treated with appreciation and respect. So that is why I am contacting you on your talk page instead of just tagging this article for deletion. If you need help 'paraphrasing' content so that there is no copyright violation, I would be glad to help. As a matter of fact, I am busy doing that in the article called Pathogenic bacteria in which the original author did do a cut and paste and I am fixing it for him. Best Regards and thank you for making so many great contributions,
I have unreviewed a page you curated

Deletion discussion about 1887 Navy Midshipmen football team
Hello, Pvmoutside,
I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether 1887 Navy Midshipmen football team should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/1887 Navy Midshipmen football team .
If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
Thanks, Arcticgriffin (talk) 12:25, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
Cleaning up Navy season articles
Pvmoutside, saw your efforts to start cleaning up and standardizing the Navy season articles. Please see my edits at 2001 Navy Midshipmen football team and 2002 Navy Midshipmen football team. It looks like you were keying off 2003 Navy Midshipmen football team. That article is loaded with bad formatting and is not a good model for replication. Thanks, Jweiss11 (talk) 01:40, 14 July 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks Jweiss11....Pvmoutside (talk) 01:43, 14 July 2015 (UTC)
Hawaiian honeycreepers
Hemignathus - IOC 5.3 lists only 4 species:
- † Oahu Nukupuu Hemignathus lucidus
- Kauai Nukupuu Hemignathus hanapepe
- Maui Nukupuu Hemignathus affinis
- Akiapolaau Hemignathus wilsoni
The finch article specified 4 species with one extinct and you've changed it to 5 species with 4 extinct with this edit. I'm struggling with all the changes introduced by NACC and then the IOC. Have I missed something? Obviously the genus and the species articles will need changing. Aa77zz (talk) 13:50, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
- You add the Giant nukupu‘u for the 5th species. All changes have already been updated.....Pvmoutside (talk) 13:54, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
AutoWikiBrowser
Hello Pvmoutside, I've seen all the changes you've made with Spizella arborea to Spizelloides arborea and wanted to suggest that you might be interested in using AutoWikiBrowser to do such things more quickly and easily. It is really good for repetitive search-and-replace edits. Alternatively, I would be more than happy to do things like that when they need to be done. Keep up the good work and let me know if I can help. SchreiberBike | ⌨ 19:48, 25 July 2015 (UTC)
Your move of this article is likely to be contentious. Have you read the extensive discussion on the talkpage? I suggest the article moves be reversed, and you are welcome to start a new rename proposal. If you are agreeable to this but are not able to undo the moves yourself, just reply to this and I'll undo the moves.-gadfium 04:12, 15 August 2015 (UTC)

Pvmoutside, thanks for your work of late creating stubs for the Notre Dame season articles. You may want to refer to the Notre Dame Football Media Guide. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Mariana kingfisher, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Rota. Velvet scoter and white-winged scoter
I often see that you clean up species splits so I'm hoping you can help with something that I'm not clear on. A search for "White-winged scoter, Melanitta fusca" returns 92 results. What appears wrong is that the white-winged scoter has the binomial Melanitta deglandi and Melanitta fusca is the scientific name for the velvet scoter. Velvet scoter talks about the species split but it's not clear to me. Also some lists include "White-winged scoter, Melanitta fusca" and have the species status set as endangered and the IUCN number for the velvet scoter. I tried fixing it here and here, but I'm not sure I'm right. If you can make sense of that and advise me, I'd appreciate your help. Thanks, SchreiberBike | ⌨ 06:43, 4 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed that you have been recently changing the genera of various woodpecker articles (Doerries' pygmy woodpecker, Japanese pygmy woodpecker, Sulawesi pygmy woodpecker, etc.) to Yungipicus, a page which you have created. Thank you very much for your edits in Checklist of Birds of Kerala page - I created the page and I maintain it in terms of published records. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_birds_of_Kerala With all due respect, may I know why you edit the list with IOC taxonomy while the page is following Howard & Moore 4th edition as stated? Is there a mandate in Wiki that taxonomy has to be IOC ? I probably can understand the reason for English names - but if there is a mandate for a particular taxonomy to be followed, kindly point me to the area where I can understand the reasons discussed and then contribute my thoughts too. Paintedstork (talk) 18:02, 26 May 2016 (UTC)
Wrt your talk page comment, I am glad that you acknowledge there is no one single taxonomy for birds - be it Wiki or anywhere else. Hence, kindly allow me, as the person maintaining the page, to follow a taxonomy which is relevant for the region as the base Kerala list which is published also follows Howard & Moore. I do have access to Howard & Moore and their corrigenda and I will keep it up to date - but please allow me sometime and avoid changing some of the edits I am doing to keep it in sync. I have stopped updating since you started changing species limits in the Kerala list - and will rejoin to complete the job, i.e. reverting some of your changes, if we in principle agree with what i stated here.
As an aside, avibase is kept up to date with H&M4 and their corrigenda - JFYI

Shy albatross on List of birds of Madagascar page

- It's all the same template. There's a school field too, but that's not needed if there's at least a redirect to the football team, which exists in pretty much all cases for existing teams and prominent defunct ones. Navy schedule templates
Pvmoutside, please take a look at my latest edit to 1950 Navy Midshipmen football team. If you standardize more schedule tables, please be sure to change the rankyear field in CFB Schedule Start to reflect the proper year. Also, setting the poll field in CFB Schedule End to "no" doesn't do us much good. Thanks, Jweiss11 (talk)

- Pvmoutside, thanks for your continued efforts with these Navy articles. Looks like you've copied over "timezone=Central Time" from 1963 Navy Midshipmen football team to the footer of several subsequent Navy season articles.
