Using Talk
[edit]Queries and comments can be made (and 'signed' with four ~) at Teahouse, at an article Talk page, and on the Talk pages of individuals. Asking a question on your own Talk page goes nowhere, as no one views that unless asked. If you want to get the attention of a specific editor, you can 'ping' that person (but no need to do that if on their Talk page). To ping, put their User name inside double curly brackets {{ }} with a u| before the name. The vertical line is called a 'pipe' and is above the backslash. David notMD (talk) 15:38, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
- P.S. Your name appears in red letters because you have not added any content to your User page. Look at what a few editors have on their User pages to get an idea what that is all about. David notMD (talk) 15:40, 1 December 2021 (UTC)

@HickoryOughtShirt?4: hi there, somehow when I resubmitted it went the wrong place. Is there a way for you to see the lastest in my sandbox? (The banner on this second resubmission was different from the first one you sent me. This one looked the same as a first-time submission. Thanks for any help you can give. Prof Mo Lill (talk) 01:46, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
- When I go to your sandbox, this is what I see User:Prof Mo Lill/sandbox. Is this the correct version? HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 01:48, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
{{Ping|HickoryOughtShirt?4}} Yes, that should be the correct one. No "citations needed" in the footnotes.

Theroadislong (talk) 17:36, 13 May 2022 (UTC)- Wow, this is exciting. A few questions: 1) If the article is "start-class," can people find this article for Richard Lillard in wikipedia if they search? (He already comes up in wikipedia because he has been quoted and mentioned in other articles.) 2) I had been working with someone else (HickoryOughtShirt? 4) as an editor. Does this mean she no longer is involved? 3) I'm not quite clear what more should be done to help develop the article? I thought I had put in enough citations, and I thought I had the correct wikipedia tone. Can you give me some pointers? Or should I ask HickoryOughtShirt? 5) What do you mean that I could "create an article myself" without posting a request? Would I get out of "start class" by doing that? That seems odd. I also asked these questions on the help page. Thanks again for this great news. Prof Mo Lill (talk) 21:20, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
- Hey Prof Mo Lill, I can answer a couple. The template above is a bit misleading. I strongly encourage anyone with a COI to use WP:YFA or other draft submitting processes. The Start class rating is about the article itself. Check out our quality assessment scale to see how to improve. If you wish to create an article you are not connected to, simply type their name in the Wikipedia search bar and click the You may create the page header underneath it.HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:28, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Hickory, thanks for all your help. I'm happy that this article is up. Should I have someone else resubmit it, someone without a COI? Or just let it be there? It looks as if someone without a COI will need to remove the template. Shall I just wait a while and see who wants to edit? Anyway, your suggestions have been invaluable. Thanks again.
