Saskatchewan photographs
when you are traveling or looking through old pictures, if there are any of Saskatchewan roads, highways or Saskatchewan highway signs that you would wish to upload to wikimedia commons, it would be appreciated. It would be good to show our highways in various seasons as well as with various geographical terrains. Of especial import when getting involved with photographing highways are junctions, scenic points of interest, historical markers, intersections, divided highways, road crews, historical road crews, historical travel on highways, overpasses, underpasses and road signs showing concurrencies between various highways.
If you have started an article for Saskatchewan, and wikimedia commons does not have a related Saskatchewan image, then place this code on the article's talk page below the banner for Saskatchewan {{reqphotoin|Saskatchewan}} and your request will be added to the above category.
If you have added a request for a map, there are now locator maps for Saskatchewan available which should alleviate some of the requests added at Wikipedia requested maps in Saskatchewan For example see Saskatoon for a locator map in use.
Coordinators and A Class Review
Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new WikiProject coordinators' working group, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.
All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. If your project hasn't formally designated any editors as coordinators, but you are someone who regularly deals with coordination tasks in the project, please feel free to join as well. — Delievered by §hepBot (Disable) on behalf of the WikiProject coordinators' working group at 06:29, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
Saskatchewan B Class articles and Importance ratings
An opportunity to Be bold and find out what is required to raise an aritlce past B class into GA or FA. Some information is included below about how to raise an article to B-class
For B-class articles the pre-requisites have been posted also at a few wikiprojects for the minimums required for B-class before advancing on to GA. Some wikiprojects offering B class outlines are Military History FAQ, Ships WP FAQ and WP UK roads The criteria for B-Class have been tightened up with the addition of a rubric, and are now more in line with the stricter standards already used at some projects.
The new C-Class represents articles that are beyond the basic Start-Class, but which need additional references or cleanup to meet the standards for B-Class.
A-Class article reviews will now need more than one person, as described here.

TO DO
Saskatchewan clean up and SK communities and are lists of selected articles with cleanup tags, sorted by project, is available. The list is automatically updated each hour when it is loaded. Please try to fix any urgent problems in the selected articles.
Place this articles for deletion page on your watchlist to know if any Saskatchewan articles are under discussion. Likewise if there are issues with improvements for Saskatchewan check out articles to improve periodically. At the moment this article name has been changed Rural Division has been changed to Saskatchewan Rivers School Division(NPOV) and there has been discussion if placenames require the added note that it is Foo, Saskatchewan or if the article can remain as the placename name: Foo. In this regards this article which needs disambiguation has not been reduced to placename title only. Regina --> Regina, Saskatchewan

Our first collaboration article for 2009 is Cockatoo—a well-known Australasian family of parrots. The article is already in reasonable shape, thanks to early efforts by a number of contributors, and with a little more work, we should be able to get it to GA/FA status. Can we get our first "group star" for the year on this one?
On a related note, be sure to vote for April's collaboration article, which will be chosen on March 31. If none of the existing nominations interest you, consider adding a new one!
Please be sure to mark any featured lists as FL-class rather than FA-class. All of our current featured lists have been moved into this new(ish) category.
Beginning in April, we'll be removing from our "active participants" list the name of any editor who hasn't edited on Wikipedia for 6 months or more, putting them instead into a "retired editors" section. (Please note that will be easy to move yourself back into the active category if you start editing again after an extended absence.) This should help us to better evaluate our project's editor retention and make for more efficient newsletter delivery.
Videos
We all know the old adage "A picture is worth a thousand words." And if that's true, videos are probably worth 10,000! They're a great way to add information to articles—for instance by showing behaviours that are hard to explain with text or static pictures. They can also include audio, adding a dimension unavailable in a photo. If you don't have your own video camera, you can still help the project by finding and requesting videos from others who have already taken them (checking, for example, at Flickr, YouTube or The Internet Bird Collection). If you have questions about how to upload videos, several project members, including Richard001 (talk·contribs) or Aviceda (talk·contribs), may be able to help.
Newsletter challenge
Shyamal (talk·contribs) took up the last newsletter's challenge, and started our article about distraction displays—behaviors used by birds to lure or drive potential predators away from nests or young. This month, we're looking for someone to start an article about acoustical luring, which is a method used by some predatory birds to lure potential prey into reach. The person who creates this article and gets it beyond a mere stub level will be mentioned in the next newsletter.

The Christianity project and its related projects currently have 65 FAs, 7 FLs, and 146 GAs. That is a wonderful number, particularly of the GAs. Thanks to all those who worked on these articles!
Secisek was interviewed by the Wikipedia Signpost in their 9 March 2009 issue here. Thank you for your great work in getting more attention to the project!
Member news
Our membership continues to expand. We are currently at a stunning 278 registered members. A profound thank you to all of you. Without your support and work, this project, and wikipedia itself, would not exist.
Other news
We have recently started a separate subpage of the project dedicated to keeping the members informed of the latest activities regarding FA and GA status, requests for peer review and comment, proposed deletions, and other article related activity. That information can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Christianity/Article alerts. Please feel free to look at the page frequently and respond to any and all items posted there that you wish.

Yes, it's been more than a bit of a rough time for some of us, okay, me, for a while here. Several things, most of them not real pleasant, kept coming up. I think most of that is over with know. I hope and pray as much anyway. Easter is the church's time of rebirth, and I hope it's a good time for the rebirth of this newsletter. I hope that the project grows in numbers and effectiveness as the church itself has over the years. Thanks again for all your efforts to date. Oh, yes, and please note that this section is entitled "From the Members". That means you, all of you. If any of you have any comments you'd like to share with the other members in this section, please feel free to let us know, and we'll put them in the next issue. We would encourage all members to get more involved and if you are wondering what with, please ask. The Christianity project and its related projects currently have 68 FAs, 7 FLs, and 146 GAs, which includes 3 more FAs. We did however lose one FL and 2 GAs over the past month, but we still basically broke even with the 3 new FAs.

Hello from the new Christian films task force! I was recently apart of founding a task force, so this is the story. For several months, I would not only contribute to Christian films, groups, etc., but I'd also see other users working on similar articles. I really wanted to create a project for us to work from. Filmcom contacted me about trying to get a task force going, so we began working together on it. When it appeared the idea was dying, we continued to fight, and several other users joined!
Thanks to the efforts of many users, I'd like to introduce you to the Christian films task force! We are currently having a bot tag all Christian film-related articles, and we are working to define our project scope. We now have our own icon and shortcut (WP:CFTF), with ten users signed out thus far - these are just some of the things that have been happening in the last few days. If you have any interest in joining such a project, we welcome everyone to join and get involved.

Request for tagging WP:Energy categories
Hi. As a participant of the WP:Energy, I would like to ask you to comment the request for tagging WP:Energy articles by bot. The list of potential categories for tagging is located here and the discussion about which categories should be excluded from this list, is going on at the WP:Energy talkpage here. Your comments are welcome. Beagel (talk) 12:27, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
We've done it! With the awarding of a GA rating to Australian Magpie, we reached the milestone of 100 FA/FL/GA articles for the project. And that's fitting, since it was Casliber (talk·contribs) who both shepherded the magpie article to its rating, and who challenged us to the goal of reaching 100 in the first place. We also reached our goal of 50 FA articles, when Rufous-crowned Sparrow got its star. Well done everybody; those are major accomplishments. Now, on to 150…
May's collaboration article is Red Knot, a widespread species which is in increasing peril across much of its worldwide range. (Some scientists have predicted that the American subspecies, for instance, may be extinct as soon as 2010.) Help us to raise the profile of this worldwide shorebird.
On a related note, be sure to vote for June's collaboration article, which will be chosen on May 27. If none of the existing nominations interest you, consider adding a new one!
"Heard" birds
Spoken articles are Wikipedia articles which have been read aloud and recorded. Such recordings make Wikipedia content available for visually challenged users, for those who can understand English but cannot read it, for those who enjoy podcasting, and for people learning English. Currently, WP:BIRDS has 14 spoken articles—a tiny fraction of the more than 13,000 articles and lists overseen by the project. There is a real need to increase this number, and it's easy to help with the process. Recording an article can be done using a home computer with a microphone and the free software Audacity. The Spoken Wikipedia WikiProject oversees all recording efforts, and their project pages should be followed carefully to ensure that agreed standards of access, content and performance are met. Please contact AshLin (talk·contribs) for more information.
Newsletter challenge
Shyamal (talk·contribs) stepped up yet again and created an excellent, well-referenced start to the ornithophily article. This month, we're looking for someone to split the article about Bonelli's Warbler into two species: Eastern Bonelli's Warbler and Western Bonelli's Warbler, both of which currently exist only as redirects. The person who splits this article and separates the appropriate information into each new article will be mentioned in the next newsletter.

With three new additions to the project's FA/FL/GA article count, we're on our way towards our next goal — of 150 such articles. Ruff and Alpine Chough are currently good article nominations; drop by their candidacy pages to comment, review or suggest improvements!
June's collaboration article is Secretary Bird, about an iconic long-legged African raptor, which is widespread throughout sub-Saharan Africa. Our current featured articles display a decided "Anglophone" bent; can you help us to get our first African species to FA?
On a related note, be sure to vote for July's collaboration article, which will be chosen on June 27. If none of the existing nominations interest you, consider adding a new one!
There still 16 bird families with articles currently considered to be Stubs—great progress if you think back to the scores we had last year, but still more than we should have. Any assistance in reducing that number would be much appreciated!
Newsletter challenge
SP-KP (talk·contribs) met last month's challenge and split our former "Bonelli's Warbler" article into Eastern Bonelli's Warbler and Western Bonelli's Warbler, reflecting widespread agreement among taxonomists that the two former subspecies merit their own species; jimfbleak (talk·contribs) helped with taxobox reorganization. This month, we're looking for someone to wikify our Brazilian Merganser article. The editor(s) who perform this needed service will be mentioned in next month's newsletter.

I am in the process of going through the various categories related to Christianity. I am finding that several of them may not have sufficient number of members to continue. By the end of the month, I hope to have the main category list finished (yeah, it might take that long, it's huge). At that time, I think we will review all the categories and see which may not have sufficient articles to continue. Please feel free to take part in the discussion regading what the minimum number of category items is, and how to deal with the non-qualifying categories, on the General Forum page.

Use the Outreach welcome template and extend a welcome to new users who are writing about Saskatchewan.
Biographies
With father's day upcoming, focus is on writing up some biographies on some notable Saskatchewan people. Please categorise these with one of the sub categories from Category:People from Saskatchewan and use the talk page banner and check off Saskatchewan=yes as biographies are harder to trace for inclusion than other Saskatchewan titular articles. With such categories-banners being used, the articles are more likely to be found and expanded by other Saskatchewan users. Take some time to find biographies of Saskatchewan folk on wikipedia currently and categorise-banner them as well.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 14:19, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

I am still working on the categorization matter. With any luck, we should have some results by the end of the month. It has been a long time since the last coordinators election. There is a lot for people to do, and I certainly would welcome seeing any individuals with an interest in such a position put themselves forward as candidates. I in particular would very much like to see some degree of "specialization" in the coordinators, so that, for instance, we might have someone knowledgable about some of the specific Christian faith traditions or other main subjects, like Orthodoxy, Lutheranism, Mormonism, the Jehovah's Witnesses, art, theology, and so on. If any parties who have experience with some of our faith- or- subject-based content would be interested in being candidates, I would love to see them do so. Please feel free to take part in the discussion regading what the minimum number of category items is, and how to deal with the non-qualifying categories, on the General Forum page.

Three new members joined this past month, including new members User:116Calvinist, User:Lrnngrbc, and User:Frazz, bringing us up to 295 listed members. Thanks to you all, and a special welcome to our new members!
Other news
Two new pages for the benefit of members of the project have been created. Wikipedia:WikiProject Christianity/Mutual aid society is designed to be a place where editors seeking specific assistance from other members can with luck find others who have the abilities or materials they need, and Wikipedia:WikiProject Christianity/Special collections is, at this point, the beginnings of a list of publicly accessible special collections libraries which our members might find useful. Anyone who lives near one of the collections listed is encouraged to visit them and see if they can find anything they would like to read or use to improve some of our articles. There are always some discussions regarding project related activities at Wikipedia:WikiProject Christianity/General Forum. I think the timing of the call for elections might have been bad (summer vacation, what was I thinking?), and have thus changed the period for individuals to run to be one of the project's coordinators. Individuals who have a particular interest or knowledge of specific fields within Christianity are encouraged to run, to serve as a kind of "unit coordinator" for that topic.

One area in particular need of attention right now is the content related to the Oriental Orthodox churches. Several of the topics within this field are of great importance, including the churches themselves, their histories, thinking, and some of the individuals associated with it. Unfortunately, the number of people who belong to the churches, and, correspondingly, the number of editors working on that content, is smaller than it could be. Anyone interested in helping to develop this content is more than welcome to look at the Wikipedia:WikiProject Oriental Orthodoxy page and seeing where they can help out.

We're looking for input on several topics this month — including whether we should change the period of time we work on collaboration articles from a month to a quarter, and whether we should change the authority for our species (and article) naming from Handbook of Birds of the World to the International Ornithological Committee's World Bird List. Be sure to add your two cents (or pence or rand or rupees or pesos or bolivars or whatever other currency is appropriate) to the discussions...
The question has been raised as to whether we should change our collaboration article period from monthly to quarterly. Please weigh in on the debate — and be sure to list anything you'd like to have considered for possible collaboration efforts.
There's renewed interest in getting some of our nearly-there topics ready for a run at Featured Topic. Currently, there are a trio of potentials: the Procellaridae, the New World vultures and the choughs. Each of the first two have two articles that will need to be improved to at least GA-class before the topic can be nominated. For the procellarids, Procellariiformes is currently B-class and Diving-petrel is currently Start-class. For New World vultures, New World vulture is currently B-class, and Cathartes is currently Start-class. The choughs are currently up for Good Topic listing — but getting either Alpine Chough or Chough to FA-class would enable us to put that one up for featured topic as well.
Last month saw the start of an Outline of Birds, which should eventually provide a project index, allowing interested readers to more easily access all of the articles associated with WikiProject Birds. Help to populate the outline with any articles you find missing.
Newsletter challenge
Prashanthns (talk·contribs) met the last newsletter challenge and wikified the Brazilian Merganser article. This issue, we're looking for someone to expand the Semnornis (toucan-barbets) article from Stub-class to Start-class. The editor who does so will be named in next month's newsletter.

The Saskatchewan communities has been joined by Wikipedia:WikiProject Canadian communities. Now all communities, neighbourhoods, cities, towns, villages, hamlets, rural municipalities, and any place name can have a rating within the Canada talk page banner. In this way, all articles can be rated as belonging to Canada, and any province or territory as well as any demographic can have their own rating.
The full Canada template is located at Template:WikiProject Canada. When rating articles for Saskatchewan related content, add supporting work groups also such as: cangov, ppap, riding, canlaw, education, tvshow, music, road, sport, geography, and now community!!

New highway change for Saskatchewan. Saskatchewan adopted the International metric system in 1971, and even though school trustees would like the imperial system returned to the classrooms, there is a new change intended for Saskatchewan. The latest news to hit the province of Saskatchewan is to adapt the new traffic directionality concept that Saskatchewan drivers will undertake. As of the beginning of the month, drivers will begin driving on the left side of the road rather than the right side. Which Side Of The Road To Drive On? Left Or Right For more information on changes to Saskatchewan Highways.
Prince Albert is one of the Saskatchewan city articles which has been growing by leaps and bounds. Many communities are being created and are picked up by the new article robot. Please help to tag these and all community articles with the new assessment talk page banner at Template:WikiProject Canada. *Stub class just barely introduces the topic, much is missing.
Start class gives a bit more knowledge but it shows one of these to expand upon a stub article;
a particularly useful picture or graphic
multiple links that help explain or illustrate the topic
a subheading that fully treats an element of the topic
multiple subheadings that indicate material that could be added to complete the article
B-Class checklist
1. It is suitably referenced, and all major points are appropriately cited.
2. It reasonably covers the topic, and does not contain major omissions or inaccuracies.
3. It has a defined structure, including a lead section and one or more sections of content.
4. It is free from major grammatical errors.
5. It contains appropriate supporting materials, such as an infobox, images, or diagrams.

Welcome to the fifth issue of the Birds WikiProject newsletter. June was another good month for article improvement, with a total of seven achieving the highest classes—we're well on the way to reaching our first 100 milestone.
Earlier this year, Casliber (talk·contribs) challenged the project to try to get 100 articles to FA or GA status before the end of the year—and we're certainly well on our way, with more than 80 articles currently at those levels. Casliber has made a listing of existing articles with significant content here; if you'd like to try your hand at improving an article, this might be a good place to start.
Collaboration efforts
Move us nearer to that 100 article goal by helping to improve this month's project collaboration. The Hoatzin is an unusual South American bird known for its unique digestive sytem, foul odor and clawed wings (as a juvenile).
In a related note, be sure to vote for August's collaboration, which will be chosen on 21 July. We could use a few new nominations...
Project news
The ongoing drive to improve our bird family articles continues; despite significant efforts by a number of editors, there are still at least 37 bird family articles currently rated as stubs—mostly because we keep finding articles we'd forgotten to include! If you'd like to help improve one or more, the list of those needing work is here.
A change in Wikipedia's taxobox setup has meant the removal of the IUCN status scale image from all articles. To re-display the scale, add "| status_system = iucn3.1" to the taxobox parameters in any article for which it is appropriate.

Welcome to the sixth issue of the Birds WikiProject newsletter. Things were a bit slower in the "Articles of Note" department last month, but many editors were quietly working away on an impressive array of tasks. Casliber (talk·contribs), in particular, has expanded multiple articles—getting many of them featured in the Main Page DYK section in the process.
This month's collaboration is our first group attempt to upgrade a genus level article. Ara is a genus of macaws—spectacularly large parrots which live in the neotropics. Several of the eight living species are highly endangered (at least one is already extinct), and all are beloved by aviculturalists. Help us improve the article about these intriguing birds.
In a related note, be sure to vote for September's collaboration, which will be chosen on 21 August. As always, we could use a few new nominations...
WikiProject Birds Cleanup listing
Thanks to Snowmanradio (talk·contribs), there's now a link to the most recent cleanup listing right from the navigation bar. And according to that listing, we've added nearly 100 new bird articles in the past month, with only a small rise in the number of articles needing attention, so we're doing something right! There are still more than 700 articles requiring work though—everything from copyediting and the addition of sources, to requests for expansion and verifications of facts. If you're looking for something helpful to do which takes less time than creating an article from scratch, sorting some of these problems out might be right up your alley. Special thanks to Rabo3 (talk·contribs), who's been plugging away on the neotropical articles, resolving all sorts of issues...
Project news
We're finally down to fewer than 30 "stub" bird family articles, thanks to herculean efforts by Sabine's Sunbird (talk·contribs). Can you help to improve the remainder? If so, the list of those needing work is here.
A change in Wikipedia's taxobox setup has meant the removal of the IUCN status scale image from all articles. To re-display the scale, add "| status_system = iucn3.1" to the taxobox parameters in any article for which it is appropriate.

We've redesigned the home page for (hopefully) the last time for a while. If you don't like the new design, the old page is archived here. To match the new design, the newsletter's format has also been redesigned. I hope you like it!
Note about member list
As the member list seems to have gone basically stale, I have removed all members from the list and moved the member list to a page that is transcluded onto the home page. Please DO NOT add your name to the homepage! Thanks!
Sorry this issue is a bit late...
Personal obligations have overtaken my Wikipedia time, and I haven't exactly had time to send out this issue. November's issue is coming soon. I promise. :-)
Article of the month...
Every month, I choose an article that I think needs help, or is just plain interesting. This month's article is Nickelodeon Magazine.
Nickelodeon Magazine's article needs help. There are no sources. I know, for this page, it's practically impossible to get it to a FA, but let's imagine we're trying to get it to FA status. That will be a motive for us to add sources, improve the writing, etc. Let's work on this article for the wellness of it! </pep talk>
Apologies for the long gap between the last newsletter and this one; if anyone is interested in helping to produce these regular updates, assistance would be much appreciated! A new year means new goals: can we get to 50 featured articles for the project before mid-year? We're only three articles away at the moment...
After a few month hiatus, we're about to start up our monthly collaboration article improvement drive again. The results of last year's collaborations were mixed. We started strongly, with three of our first four efforts reaching FA status—two of them before their months had even expired! However, things quickly tailed off after that, and none of our later efforts even reached GA status. Please vote for 2009's first collaboration, which will be chosen on Valentine's Day (14 February). If none of the existing nominations is of interest, consider adding a new one!
Bogbumper (talk·contribs) took up the last newsletter's challenge, and started our article about the Northern Rockhopper Penguin, which is recognized by many of the world's taxonomic authorities as being worthy of species status. This month, we're looking for someone to start an article about distraction displays—behaviors used by birds to lure or drive potential predators away from nests or young. The editor who starts this article and gets it to at least a reasonable stub class will be mentioned in next month's newsletter.
Got a suggestion? A correction? Something you'd like to see included in a future issue? Drop a note at the Tip Line with your ideas!

So close! After many long months of effort, we're only one article away from our project goal of 100 good or featured articles and lists. Can we make it by next month?
April's collaboration article is Puffin—a genus-level article about the "little brothers" of the ocean. Although this is another popular article with Wikipedia readers (the 59th most popular bird article, according to February's statistics), it currently ranks only as a "Start". Help us to improve its usefulness to our readers!
On a related note, be sure to vote for May's collaboration article, which will be chosen on April 27. If none of the existing nominations interest you, consider adding a new one!
The latest copy of the project's cleanup listing shows we're now overseeing more than 14,000 articles. Unfortunately, nearly 900 of them (more than 6%) are tagged as needing cleanup of some kind—from citations for questioned facts and entry of missing ISBN numbers to resolution of POV disputes and requests for expansion. While a considerable number of these could be resolved in a manner of minutes, scores have been awaiting cleanup for the better part of two years! If you've got a few minutes to spare, why not dip into the list and help to reduce the backlog. Of primary importance (from a project standpoint) are the problems identified with our FA articles—including Turkey Vulture.
As noted last month, we'll be removing from our "active participants" list the name of any editor who hasn't edited on Wikipedia for 6 months or more, putting them instead into a "retired editors" section. (Please note that will be easy to move yourself back into the active category if you start editing again after an extended absence.) This should help us to better evaluate our project's editor retention and make for more efficient newsletter delivery.
Commons and bird images
Except in very rare cases, all bird-related images, sounds and videos should be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. Those uploaded directly into en.wikipedia cannot be used by other Wikipedia or Wikimedia projects, and are also much harder to find. Unfortunately, there are currently a number of such images in existence. Some are not used in articles, and most are not placed into a bird-specific image category. If you come across one, please consider moving it to Wikimedia Commons, which has a much better system for categorizing bird images. You can search for and move images yourself, but or you can simply add them to Category:Bird images (which should only contain images from en.wikipedia, with the occasional exception such as featured pictures), which allows others to find and move them. If you need any assistance in getting starting, please contact Richard001 (talk·contribs).
Newsletter challenge
It was decided (by talk page agreement) that last month's challenge was too specific; instead a redirect was created to the aggressive mimicry article, which was expanded slightly with bird-related information. This month, we're looking for someone to start an article about ornithophily—pollination by bird; currently, this "article" exists only as a redirect to the more general article about zoophily. The person who creates this article and gets it beyond a mere stub level will be mentioned in the next newsletter.

As a member of the Aviation WikiProject or one of its subprojects, you may be interested in testing your skills in the Aviation Contest! I created this contest, not to pit editor against editor, but to promote article improvement and project participation and camraderie. Hopefully you will agree with its usefulness. Sign up here, read up on the rules here, and discuss the contest here. The first round of the contest may not start until September 1st-unless a large number of editors signup and are ready to compete immediately! Since this contest is just beginning, please give feedback here, or let me know what you think on my talkpage. - TrevorMacInniscontribs04:56, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
Labour Day & Saskatchewan's Anniversary Article Drive
Labour Day is Monday September 1, and Saskatchewan celebrates its 104 anniversary of joining confederation on September 4, 1905. Goal would be to improve the Saskatchewan article to feature status or add main Saskatchewan topical articles or improve topics of Saskatchewan articles.
The Portal:Saskatchewan is undergoing its second anniversary showcasing to the WWW wikipedia articles about Saskatchewan content which have achieved good or featured class criteria. Please add more contributions to wikipedia and to the portal itself. If you have suggestions for the portal or want help with the "box formatting style of programming" drop a note on the portal talk page.
With fall and school starting up this late August and early September, it is time to start or upgrade the various secondary and post secondary education and Higher education in Saskatchewan articles for Saskatchewan or help with requests . Ensure that principals, vice principals, and current curricula and extracurricular activities are accurate for the 2009-2010 school year. Notable changes in curricula and extracurricular activities could be added to a history section. The newest education article seems to be an U of S article on the University of Saskatchewan Physical Activity Complex. List of universities in Canada this article was recently demoted from Featured list status. If anyone can work on this article and the new requirements to get it re-instated this would be awesome.

Hi! You old name Patricknoddy was listed on the Townsville wikiproject page. Do you still have an interest? The Towwnsville artilce is up for GA nomination, if interested it would be great if you would have a look over the article. Cheers ROxBo (talk) 14:18, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
If there was a collaboration department, then the North-West Rebellion, and its several child articles such as its battles and people would be excellent articles to find references for, expand and achieve GA or FA status. In the words of Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Christine Tell who proclaimed, that "the 125th commemoration, in 2010, of the 1885 Northwest Resistance is an excellent opportunity to tell the story of the prairie Métis and First Nations peoples' struggle with Government forces and how it has shaped Canada today."[1]
At this time, as well, the articles Aboriginal peoples in Canada and First Nations are undergoing GA review. For an idea of updating the Northwest Rebellion articles watch these two articles or assist with their upgrade.
Feature articles are being re-called due to a lack of "alt tags" for the images included in the articles, as in the ongoing screening of FA articles; Canada and Territorial evolution of Canada. When beginning or updating a Saskatchewan related article, ensure the use of alt tags, which will save time later when upgrading the article.
Please make use of Wikipedia School and University projects and project instrutions on wikipedia, inform fellow students, classes, or school instructors. Higher education in Saskatchewan, was a part of a project that encompassed higher education in all the provinces and territories of Canada. As well students in public schools have been working on Saskatchewan town articles in the past.

This is the third December newsletter for the Saskatchewan wikiproject, and two years since we inaugurated the assessment template! It is also how the anniversary of our Saskatchewan new article robot page which helps to identify new articles with Saskatchewan content and future contributors. 2007, 2008
Holiday greetings to everyone editing on wikipedia and especially those helping Saskatchewan find its niche so others on the WWW can know something of this prairie province of Canada. Please invite a fellow editor for a nice cup of tea and a sit down
Photography city scavenger hunts
In the same vein as this Wikipedia Takes The City Scavenger Hunt Contest, please roam around Saskatchewan taking important photographs of your local area, city or neighbourhood or town, school, park, forest, statue, memorial, main street, cityscape view which are needed for various wikipedia articles. If you wish just use this online tool to help upload available public domain and fair use images to wikimedia commons.
Assessment
With 2,442 stubs, there are 73% of articles relating to Saskatchewan which are stubs, describing the province in minimal detail. There are 6 articles and lists which reached feature status. These detailed, and informative feature quality sections amount to 0.2% of the Saskatchewan content. It would be nice if these percentages could be reversed. Everyone's help is requested to make the drive a success.
Portal Saskatchewan
Please make regular visits to the portal and perhaps make it your browser home page. Nominations for selected articles and pictures for the portal are always welcome, and can serve as a great way to show off that new article you just worke on to achieve Good Article status or the super picture you took the last time you attended a festival in Saskatchewan.

Orphaned non-free media (File:Whoisstealing12daysofchristmas.jpg)
Thanks for uploading File:Whoisstealing12daysofchristmas.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 11:40, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
Hello there. Thank you for your note that you may be interested in doing the newsletter. You may set it up in whatever format and delivery style you wish. There are several robots that can deliver it for you. The one which had been used was for the delivery of WikiProject Saskatchewan's newsletter delivery job was with ENewsBot. Thanks again, and good luck!!! Kind Regards SriMesh | talk23:58, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
How is it going with thoughts about the February newsletter. There is a new note on the talk page, which may help the newsletter out, thought I would give you a shout about it. I am not online much, but thought I would give you support in your new venture. Kind RegardsSriMesh | talk02:51, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
Hello there. You are absolutely wonderful! Your pilot newsletter looks great! Can I offer one suggestion. I am so happy you are recruiting members, however I had a "school of hard knocks" when I first began, and ventured out the "wrong way"...so to help others not have my experience, can you suggest that the best way of recruitment within wikipedia policies is to offer the invitation template from the Outreach Page on prospective user talk pages. I can see you will do very well! Thank you for keeping the wheels rolling so to speak. Did you wish to set it up delivery via robot again, or will you try hand delivery to start with? SriMesh | talk16:00, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
Hi there I added a note to the newsletter,...giving up the reins so to speak... I hope you don't mind.
Best wishes and good luck!
Your wonderful act of kindness to take on editorial capacity of the Saskatchewan Wikiproject news letter is much appreciated! Thank you so much!!! Nice cup of tea and a sit down. "A nice cup of tea and a sit down is for when things have gone beyond that, and there is a need for some more formal and serious niceness." Kind Regards SriMesh | talk18:47, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
Hello and welcome back to the WikiProject Saskatchewan newsletter! I, User:Presidentman, am the new editor. You may see some changes due to the fact it's my first newsletter. I'm just going easy on myself, but it will get more complex as time goes on.

We’re excited to announce that User:Presidentman has joined WikiProject Saskatchewan as our Editor in Chief. Presidentman will oversee editorial content and the Saskatchewan Wikiproject community contributions on the Wikiproject newsletter. Presidentman has also successfully developed the Picture of the Day project and has been active on wikipedia for close to three years in a plethora of projects enriching wikipedia with close to 3,000 contributions. The transition between our old editor and the new has been smoother than any of us could have hoped for — SriMesh wrote their last newsletter article for January, 2010, and Presidentman started up without missing a beat for February 2010. The previous years for SriMesh, the past editor, had been richly rewarding, seeing subscriptions grow, informing interested editors of developments and changes to the Saskatchewan wikipedia community and supporting activities on the Saskatchewan Wikiproject. It is now time for me to move to new writing projects to finish, and further responsibilities which are vying for my attention. Please join me in welcoming Presidentman to the their new position! Presidentman is working on a host of new features and an updated look, which will take things to a new level. It is wonderful to have a new editor to bring in the new year! Expect great things.
A tag has been placed on List of U.S. cities with minority mayors, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. 147.70.242.54 (talk) 02:58, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
