{{helpme}} I currently need several images of a Masked Ringtail. If you can provide, that would be great. If not, websites or sources where I can find my requirements would accepted too. (KnowledgeRequire (talk) 22:22, 22 July 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Since there' nothing in the article, and there doesn't appear to be anything on the the Wikimedia Commons, it appears you're stuck with a Google image search.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 22:27, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, KnowledgeRequire, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions, especially what you did for Severe weather. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date.

Also, since you seem to be interested in the subject, consider signing up for one of the many weather-related WikiProjects, where Wikipedians collaborate to improve articles related to a certain subject. Currently, there are four weather-related WikiProjects: Meteorology, Tropical Cyclones, Severe Weather, and Non-Tropical Storms. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}} before the question. Again, welcome!

Gallery articles go on the Commons. You will find your elephants at Commons:African elephant. You should now use Magnus' toy to request the transfer to the Commons of those images which are not already there. Once they have been moved, go to the descriptions on the Commons and put them into appropriate categories.

I have moved File:BushElephantProvidenceZoo.jpg & file:Bull elephants small.jpg for you. They need categories now. — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 17:25, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hail

[edit]

I think I've responded to all your comments now. As for the hail size comment, I did add a line concerning measurement of hail with a ruler prior to comparison to common objects, per your comments. Thegreatdr (talk) 20:28, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • I've posted article specific information on the talk page of Sever weather. I restored my edit to the lead; I think it's an improvement. If you disagree we'll seek consensus on the talk page. Specifically, the lead had problems with WP:UMD, but also WP:LEDE and some other general MoS guidelines.

My real concern though was that you very quickly reverted my edit, saying that it was already cited. My concern was a style one. I worry that your revert would quickly scare away newcomers because it's very different for a repeat editor of an article to revert than for a vandal patroler to do so. It's bitey to blithely revert a good faith edit, particularly when that edit is specifically within guideline. It would be better to restore the part you thought was right, while keeping the rest.

There's a reason that the page is showing up on the copyedit guild--from the first sentence it needs revision on a few MoS conventions. Don't scare off those trying to help you improve the article. We all have different strengths. We've all done it, me included. When we edit articles a lot we tend to know what's going on, and think they're in good shape, but sometimes an outside eye is helpful. As you may have seen, Wikipedia's gaining a reputation of scaring off new editors. I understand the process, but if I was new I don't know if I'd bother to do that. Shadowjams (talk) 00:57, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • One of the editors contacted me about new ideas regarding this article. Since I've been away from the article for eight months, I saw it with a fresh perspective. I think we went about things in a way that was too complicated last year. This morning, I simplified the format. I'd be interested in your opinion as to whether this reorganization improved the article or not. Thegreatdr (talk) 19:24, 30 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Announcement

[edit]

Hello! I'm The Arbiter, one of the coordinators for WikiProject Zoo. I am proud to announce the launch of a new portal: Portal:Zoos and Aquariums! ZooPro, ZooFari, and I worked hard to create a new portal for information on zoos, aquariums, and the associated projects and articles on Wikipedia. If you could head on over, take a look at our work, and maybe learn some more about zoos and Wikiproject Zoo, it would be great! Cheers and Happy Editing!

Science lovers wanted!
Hi! I'm serving as the wikipedian-in-residence at the Smithsonian Institution Archives until June! One of my goals as resident, is to work with Wikipedians and staff to improve content on Wikipedia about people who have collections held in the Archives - most of these are scientists who held roles within the Smithsonian and/or federal government. I thought you might like to participate since you are interested in the sciences! Sign up to participate here and dive into articles needing expansion and creation on our to-do list. Feel free to make a request for images or materials at the request page, and of course, if you share your successes at the outcomes page you will receive the SIA barnstar! Thanks for your interest, and I look forward to your participation! Sarah (talk) 20:06, 16 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. WikiProject Weather: Map Dot & Template/Infobox Colors

[edit]

Dear project member, This message is being sent out to encourage new ideas and feedback on those proposed in regard to the colors debate for WikiProject Weather. For those who are unaware of what's been happening over the last year, I will give a brief summary. We have been discussing proposed changes to the colors of the dots on tropical cyclone maps and templates and infoboxes across the entire weather project in order to solve issues related to the limited contrast between colors for both normal vision as well as the various types of color blindness (MOS:ACCESS). We had partially implemented a proposal earlier this year, however, it was objected to by a number of people and additional issues were presented that made it evident this wasn't the optimal solution. We tried to come up with other solutions to address the issues related to color contrast, however, none of them gained traction and no consensus was generated.

We need your help and I encourage you to propose your own scale and give feedback on those already listed. Keep in mind that we are NOT making a decision on any individual proposal at this time. We are simply allowing people to make proposals and cultivate them given feedback from other project members. Please visit our project page for additional details. The proposal phase will close no later than December 31st at 23:59 UTC. NoahTalk 04:15, 21 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
