Image:99_Flake_Strawberry.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:99_Flake_Strawberry.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 20:56, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Non-free use disputed for Image:Cheshire_Cat_McGee.jpg
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Cheshire_Cat_McGee.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 22:25, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

Notability of Ctrl+Alt+Del
[edit]Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Ctrl+Alt+Del, by Ripster40 (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Ctrl+Alt+Del is an article about a certain website, blog, forum, or other web content that does not assert the importance or significance of that web location. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles, as well as notability guidelines for websites. Please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources which verify their content.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Ctrl+Alt+Del, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 03:08, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

I've got a proposal I'm working on, I wouldn't mind some early stage feedback from editors I know, before any wider review. It's the first time I've proposed something like this. Would you be up to casting an eye over it and giving impressions?

ARJ prod
[edit]Hello, I'm wondering why you would call ARJ as not notable. As for old and obsolete, there seems to be alot articles on old and/or obsolete subjects (such as astrolabes, matchlocks, etc). It should certainly be notable, as it was quite popular back in the day, and you still run across ARJ files on FTP servers now. It was the format of choice on the Amiga. I'll check on your talk page for a reply. 132.205.44.5 22:23, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry, you're right. A quick Google check was inconclusive, so I tagged it for PROD, figuring that if it was important, someone would unPROD it. Which did happen, so there that is. No harm done, and I've certainly no malice towards the article. I'll let it be =) ♠PMC♠ 19:43, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
Non - notable philosopher?
[edit]The reason why I decided to write again in wikipedia despite my decision not to visit again this non-reliable site is the deletion of my article for the so important philosopher of our times, Francois Dintieue. Ok, I understand. Wikipedia may have strict rules in order to fulfill its own evil goals such as preventing its users from learning really important things that could affect their lifes and promoting certain artists, politicians, philosophers and so on. In a few words, I've already figured out that wikipedia is a propagandistic site. Although it's illegal, I understand that it is an unavoidable effect of today's international political and social situation.'It's just the easy way to earn big money'. That I do not understand and irritates me the most is the reason why my article was deleted. How and why could one call Dintieue a 'non-notable philospher', while he is one of the most -if not the most- important philosopher of our times ? Only because he hasn't given himself publicity yet? Beatles were not famous when they started their career too - they were very respected though. One must be famous, in order to accept one's opinions, is that what you believe PMC ? If that is, then you make me very sad. I'm very sad because of you, PMC and all of you who can not or do not want to understand a single thing about philosophy and can't listen carefuly not to what only Dintieue, but other well-known philosophers such as Plato and Socrates have to say. I'm really sad and embarassed of humantity's situation and I hope that someday, someone, will have enough courage to withstand the deep meaning of Dintieue's and other progressive philosophers' -such as he- words. That's all I have to say. If one of administrators does understand, he/she should know that the recreation of my article would really help the others to act likewise.
Let me show you the way.Recreate my article.

delete of page Redeye
[edit]Hi, new to Wikipedia and was trying to learn how it works. I wrote the page on a company that gets quoted a lot in the papers I read but that has a sucky homepage, so I wanted there to be some quick information to look up for people like myself. I took some of the info from their page, some from other pages, and some from what I had figured out myself. WOuld definitely not call it blatant advertising since there was at least two links to critical articles. Had a lot more references than any of the similar swedish companies I searched for on Wikipedia. I get the point that advertising should be deleted, but since wikipedia is also a resource to get a quick overview of many things including companies, how am I to write on a company without it getting deleted? Can I have the text back please? It was a lot of work. HOw does it work when something is important in one (smaller, like sweden) country and area but not in the US? Search "redeye oberoende analys" and you will get the relevant hits - there are a lot (it means "Redeye independent analysis") http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Redeye_%28finance_analysis%29 Felis21 19:00, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Deletion of recently started "Matthew Henry Phineas Riall Sankey" article
[edit]Dear Premeditated Chaos,
Yesterday I started an article on Captain Matthew Henry Phineas Riall Sankey, the creator of the so called "Sankey diagram". The only addition I had made to that article so far had been an external link pointing to another page which provided biographic information on this person; my intention was to continue adding elaborate information to the article and took care not to just simply quote the other page's content, in order not to infringe any copyright rule; then I found that the article had been nominated as candidate for speedy deletion on "CSD G1: Patent Nonsense" grounds. I carefully read the "Criteria for speedy deletion" article and could not find the reason why it had been considered as "Patent Nonsense", so I tried to place an argument in favour of retaining the article, but it was not taken to consideration, and it was promptly deleted on the same grounds, according to the following entry of the deletion log: 18:20, 18 September 2007 Premeditated Chaos (Talk | contribs) deleted "Matthew Henry Phineas Riall Sankey" (CSD G1: Patent Nonsenese) I would like to understand why my article was regarded as "Patent Nonsense", instead of being included in the "Articles... 3. No content" criterion, as per http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:CSD
Best regards
Quote your answer: "You're right. I probably should have deleted that as No Content. If you like, I will recreate it and delete it under the proper reason. Is that fair? ♠PMC♠ 17:34, 20 September 2007 (UTC)"
No problem, I don't expect you to do that, I just wanted to know the reason. May be some other time I will prepare some more ellaborate text and reopen the article.
Cheers and thanks for your reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:A Boy Named Goo cover.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:A Boy Named Goo cover.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Image copyright problem with Image:Ewha Womans University.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:Ewha Womans University.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 07:47, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Aaron Herzog
[edit]I am not Aaron Herzog. I am Joe Scott. If you check my records you will see that the before I knew the terms of Wikipedia I tried creating an article about myself a long time ago, but since have not done so. Also, Aaron Herzog is rapidly increasing his name in the gaming industry. He has been working on the UT series for a few years now. More specifically he has been trying to make the characters move more like humans and less like they were programmed. If you could please place the article back that would be great. I was trying to show you (Wikipedia) that he is notable by referencing the facts I placed on the page to other notables sites like IMDb and MobyGames.
Thank You and I look forward to your response.
-Joe
Update: Sorry, I did not read your header. I created an article on Aaron Herzog and you deleted it. If you could please review it and place it back to where it was that would be great. I will try to check your page but if you could please reply on mine that would be great.
Thank You,

Replaceable fair use Image:Swollen Members group shot.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Swollen Members group shot.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use media which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Remember the dot (talk) 19:48, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Blood logo.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Blood logo.jpg. Hi, I was having trouble adding the official birth date of Eli Todd to the article because the site I referenced it to is apparently blacklisted. The URL address is as follows, although there are spaces in between each character because Wikipedia wouldn't let me post it otherwise. So when you paste it into your browser if you so choose, you will need to delete the spaces: h t t p : / / f a m o u s a m e r i c a n s . n e t / e l i t o d d /
The information seems to be fine, can I trust it, or is there a reason why it was blacklisted? If it is fine, how should I cite it?

I also cited the part of Eli Todd you previously commented out. The section Personal life now looks like this:
“ | == Personal life ==
After graduating Yale at the age of 18, Todd had a two year apprenticeship in Farmington, CT. After finishing his apprenticeship, he spent the next 25 years serving as Farmington's resident doctor, retiring in 1815. He often consulted with farmers to help them with the productivity of their produce.[1] Todd concluded that “the return to social and political stability during the first years of independence was undoubtedly eased by the availability of unlimited land to the west”.[2] He was not a very good businessman and although his fame grew statewide, his wealth never swelled to match until he became director of the Connecticut Retreat. In 1976, shortly after starting his work in Farmington, he married Rachel Hills (possibly Hill; records are not clear). In the same year, his half-brother Michael died at sea. In 1797, his sister Polly died of spotted fever. His mother died in 1806. In 1811, Rachel's brother Reuben died, and Todd and his wife adopted his two daughters Theresa and Jennet.[3] Rachel died in 1825, and Todd subsequently married her younger sister, Catherine. She would outlive him by 33 years, dying herself in 1866. His interest in psychology began when his sister Eunice committed suicide, because of the issue of depression. He received a letter from Eunice's husband in August 1829, that told of her death.[3] Todd had thought he had cured her, multiple times, but she still had episodes. and when she had to attend to a large farm in empty Vermont alone, she was pushed over the edge. This began his theory that mental retardation (insanity at the time) was a disease and had a cause and possibly a cure. This began his revolutionary treatments, and what made the government give so much money for the mental hospital to be built.[3] |

P.S. If you don't want all of this on your discussion page or the references makes it look weird feel free to delete it.--Eli Todd (talk) 00:21, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

If these are worth an article, so is the Itano circus. Search on Youtube, you will find several examples of Itano circus.
Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 20:38, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Cydoor.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Cydoor.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Project FMF (talk) 20:33, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
Admin Status and Bad Faith Images
[edit]Hi, sorry about all this mix-up. I was utilising ideas from existing user pages and must have included an adminbox by mistake, so sorry about that. The images I uploaded, whilst I agree are not exactly in good taste, were intended to be uploaded for constructive purposes. From what I've heard, this site isn't censored. cum hoc "CVS" example
[edit]Why was it removed? It is neither political nor motivated in any sense, but it is a very disturbing example of science often making too early presumptions, or interpreting data incorrectly. Cum hoc is way too common in the scientific world.Gligeti (talk) 06:52, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Trying to resurrect an article that died before its time.
[edit]I recently started an article entitled "Darth Vader's helmet," which was immediately put up for speedy deletion. Although I disagreed with the decision since I put a {{hang-on}} template, I was unable to prevent its deletion. I'm asking you if you'd be able to give me access to the deleted material so that I would be able to fix it. I'd be much obliged, and you would be my favorite wikipedia administrator in the whole wide world. :-) Jimmy da tuna (talk to me) 04:17, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
Thank you very much for returning the article to me.
[edit]Thanks for the article, I think I will take your advice and try to make it as a section. I am very grateful that you helped even though it was such an awfully written article. :) Jimmy da tuna 21:44, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Please restore Fun casino.
[edit]Hi, I wanted to explain to someone what a Fun Casino is so looked for it on Wikipedia but then found that you'd deleted the article. I would have found it useful and I expect anyone else who's going to one would also find it useful, so can you restore it? Orphaned non-free media (Image:Cheshire Cat McGee.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Cheshire Cat McGee.jpg.
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:16, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Cancel deletion of Ella Guru (band) article?
[edit]Hi there PC
Would you consider undoing the cancellation of the article [2] ?
The band received great press for their first album, called The First Album. Sadly to me and others [3] their only album.
The track Park Lane Speakers was number 48 in the John Peel Festive 50 in 2004 [7], and they also played a session on Peel's final World Service show. This kind of Peel connection suggests greater significance than perhaps the page originally conferred.

Tom Flanagan racist?
[edit]I invite you to read "First Nations Second Thoughts" by Tom Flanagan. The book is a repugnant and racist book directed at Indigenous Peoples. Harbor Mountain Press Deletion/Proposed Creation of New Article
[edit]Hi Premeditated Chaos,
When I tried to create an article about Harbor Mountain Press, I learned that you deleted a previous article. Here's the note that pops up, for your reference:
17:48, 18 September 2007 Premeditated Chaos (talk | contribs) deleted "Harbor Mountain Press" (CSD A7 (Group): Article about a club or group that does not assert significance)
I haven't read it and thus don't know how the article failed to assert significance...I notice it happened four years ago, so that would have been before the press's books were reviewed by TIME Magazine, Library Journal and other significant venues, and featured in Poets & Writers, etc. Please let me know if I should create the new article (which references these sources, among others) or not.
Thank you Books2read (talk) 14:36, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
Invitation to take part in Wikipedia research
[edit]Hello,
I am doing research on Wikipedia in multiple languages to see how different Wikipedia websites enable people differently to act and contribute in their ways. A brief description of the study can be found on our project page on Meta-Wiki. The results would give guidelines for further development of Wikipedia in less developed languages.
As an active member of Wikipedia community, you are invited to take part in the study and share your experience about and understanding of Wikipedia with us. It would take 30 to 60 minutes of your time to have an online conversation about Wikipedia. I would be delighted to hear any of your ideas or feedback about the study. Please feel free to contact me with your questions and concerns related to this study and your participation. You can also find the email address on the project page.--WikiTafa (talk) 00:17, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
