[edit]

TNA 2005 Super X Cup Tournament

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article TNA 2005 Super X Cup Tournament, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? iMatthew 2008 23:41, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated TNA 2005 Super X Cup Tournament, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/TNA 2005 Super X Cup Tournament. Fair use rationale for Image:Akakabuto.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Akakabuto.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 18:22, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

FYI the linking of dates is deprecated in the MoS. The standard now is just to use the style of date appropriate for the article subject and leave it unlinked. I didn't agree with this change, but though you might like to know. Robert K S (talk) 20:11, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:AutoPulseLifeBand.jpg

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:AutoPulseLifeBand.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? ViperSnake151 22:23, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Image:Blueribbon.png

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Image:Blueribbon.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I8 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is available as a bit-for-bit identical copy on the Wikimedia Commons under the same name, or all references to the image on Wikipedia have been updated to point to the title used at Commons.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Blueribbon.png|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. JaGatalk 20:27, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:New-orlando-arena.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:New-orlando-arena.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Richard Garriott

[edit]

Hello, Kitch. I noticed you've edited the Richard Garriott entry in the past. I work at VBS.tv and our new technology show Motherboard debuted this week with a series on Mr. Garriott. In it, he explains the beginnings of the Ultima series and takes us on a tour of his home. I feel that this would meet the encyclopedic standard for both the Richard Garriott and the Britannia Manor entries. A former VBS.tv employee abused Wikipedia and all links to VBS material has been blacklisted. After inquiring on proposed Blacklist removals, I was informed a request from a high-volume editor would be considered. If you're interested in the series, you can watch is at VBS.tv/Motherboard. I'd love to hear back from you if you believe this would be a worthwhile link for addition. Thanks! CorridorX (talk) 02:50, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of DDRMAX Dance Dance Revolution 6thMix

The article DDRMAX Dance Dance Revolution 6thMix has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not notable, no sources

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Amway-center-aerial-rendering.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

2009 Election on the "In the News" section

[edit]

Hey, I saw you made a suggestion for the In the News section of the home page that includes the elections today. I think that these article could get put up there as results come it, but wanted to coordinate efforts a little bit, using your hook as a basis. The one you suggested seems a bit lengthy to me. I'm not sure we need the Marianas, though I'd like to. Certainly if the winners are of the same party, it will make for a tighter statement, like "Republicans Bob and Chris won..." verses mixed results that turn out like "Republican Bob won in VA while Democrat Jon won in NJ..." If the Conservative Doug Hoffman wins in NY-23, it could get even longer "Republican Bob, Democrat Jon, and Conservative Doug won..." which might led us to drop party monikers. Hello Kitch! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 177 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

I notice that you're a fan of the Orlando Predators, so if you're interested, pleae sign up on the members list and we'll get things going. Rejoice, for ARENA FOOTBALL IS BACK! I've been rather active lately on Florida High Speed Rail and I noticed that you were somewhat active since the 2009 revival of the project. I was wondering if you would like to review what I've done and give your input. Thanks! Aalox (talk) 05:16, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Also, the Connect Us statement sticks out like a sore thumb, and I haven't found anything that shows how they "championed" the revival. Could you add in where you found that and what they did, and try to blend it into the rest of the section? Aalox (talk) 06:38, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Al-lucas.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Al-lucas.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:03, 30 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Professional wrestling newsletter message

[edit]

It has recently been brought to the attention of WP:PW that the newsletter is being to delivered to several users who have not been actively editing for several months. As a result, their talk pages have become increasingly large, unmanageable and slow to load due to a lack of archiving.
In response, this message is being sent to all editors listed in Category:WikiProject Professional wrestling participants to say that anyone who does not list their name at Wikipedia:WikiProject Professional wrestling/Newsletter/Active before May 16 will be automatically listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Professional wrestling/Newsletter/Nospam, and will no longer receive the newsletter or any notification of it. If you are added to Wikipedia:WikiProject Professional wrestling/Newsletter/Nospam, please feel free to remove your name if you desire.
If you wish to continue receiving the newsletter as normal, please add your name to Wikipedia:WikiProject Professional wrestling/Newsletter/Active. If you simply wish to receive notification of a new issue, but not have the full newsletter delivered to your talk page, please add your name to the notification only list.
If you have any queries please contact me at my talk page or leave a message at WT:PW. Thank you for your co-operation. ♥NiciVampireHeart00:36, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit concerning the Gaza flotilla

[edit]

Hi, please explain this edit. The summoning and withdrawal of so many ambassadors in the same day and protests by tens of thousands of people in cities around the world are part of the reason why this incident is of international interest. That it was marked as a minor edit and had no edit summary makes it all the more puzzling. --candlewicke 21:45, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • First, We don't need to spam Current Events with every single international reaction to an event. Second, WP:NOT a soapbox. Keep a neutral point of view to news blurbs. --Kitch (Talk : Contrib) 03:37, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, there have been days when only hundreds of people protesting about their cause have been included in Current Events, but you believe these protests are "spam"? I don't care very much about what any of them are protesting about on either side but I am concerned that it now reads like an incident which ended abruptly with the deaths and injuries when this is very clearly not the case. That article is not soapboxing but the world reacting in different ways in favour of and against the incident. I still see no reason for you to mark your edit as minor and not leave an edit summary? There is now no mention of the tens of thousands of people who protested around the world, the unusual amount of activity involving the ambassadors. A UN emergency session - how often does that happen? You've removed that too. These are not every single international reaction or what everyone has said which of course would be far too much. SOAPBOX states that it is possible to "report objectively about such things": there doesn't appear to be any more neutral way to phrase the protests and similar events other than stating that they took place which seems undeniably true unless we question the accuracy of most of the media. What would you suggest? Would you not think about summarising rather than deleting half the day's events? --candlewicke 01:32, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm not talking about protests. I am talking specifically about posting every single reaction by a diplomat or head of state to an international happening in Current Events. It's just way too much. I remember when on a busy day there weren't more than 10 items in a single day's frame. Now we're pushing 50. There has to be a line drawn somewhere. Plus, a lot of the blurbs are starting to seriously rape the concept of neutral point of view. --Kitch (Talk : Contrib) 01:46, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
But surely it is good that more events are being recorded? Why should there be less if someone wants to add them? Why do you want to draw a line?
What I was referring to is not "every single reaction by a diplomat or head of state". That is what the reactions article is for. I referred to the events you removed which include the following: the ambassadors of several countries are summoned (that was one item and the ambassadors are not listed indiviually by country). A country which had previously had good bilateral relations suddenly withdraws its ambassador (that is another). The prime minister suddenly cancels his North American tour and flies home (that is another). The UN calls an emergency session (that is another). 10,000 people protest (that is another). There are injuries caused and police use tear gas in Greece (another). A protest outside the UN (another). The imprisonment of those who were detained? Why have you deleted every single one of these (marked as a minor edit without an edit summary)?
They are arguably all significant international developments of one kind or another. They are not the opinions of diplomats and heads of state. It has nothing to do with the circumstances of this particular situation - this would be just as odd if you replaced the names of the countries or other details in any situation where so many events had occurred. Current events of 31 May now reads as though there was a skirmish on a ship and then everyone went home, nobody noticed and the situation has passed. It states Israel blames those on board the ship (which may be right or may be wrong, I really don't know and am quite frankly beyond caring at this stage) but ignores that this upset people in other parts of the world in the ways described. I don't think it is taking sides or straying from NPOV to suggest that these events happened. --candlewicke 03:05, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Actually it did list every single diplomat in the Current Events originally. Just let it go, dude. --Kitch (Talk : Contrib) 11:00, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Why? You have not answered my questions, particularly the matter relating to the edit summary and minor edit. If it listed "every single diplomat" I would see nothing wrong with removing them and have never said they should be listed - that it presumably what the reactions article is there for. But why all mention of the international protests and ambassadors? As I've said 31 May reads like a minor incident which everyone soon forgot. That is not the case. --candlewicke 15:43, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There's nothing to answer. I've described my problem with it, and it's not what you think it is. If you don't understand me, then that's your fault. Leave me alone. --Kitch (Talk : Contrib) 15:50, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Kitch: hee-hee (funny name) ;-)

I noticed your work on TNA wrestling and would like to say thank you. I have been a strong believer in peer review, and I think you are very dedicated and resourceful for your attempts at making TNA that much better. I have a feeling of what it is like to start up peer review and receive little to no response, so I sympathize with you on your reaction.

I have recently taken a strong interest in the TNA article, and one of my major proposals has been to eliminate the clunky championships section. There are a lot of frequent edits attached to that table, and readers could be re-directed to championship articles that cover those in much greater detail. I would be honored if you could give the page a look and tell me what you think on this issue.

Sincerely, --Screwball23 talk 03:23, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Orlando Health has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence of notability. No sources. Promotional in character.

The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. You are now a Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Karanacs (talk) 03:40, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
