Patrick Thompson (artist)
[edit]Plasterofparis Hello. I saw your addition to the article: "What needs to be omitted from this page to stop it from being deleted? Can anyone advise?". There is a notice on the article talk page here. This notice links to the entry where the debate takes place (here) where it is possible to vote. Note that the result will not be evaluated by the number of keep or delete votes, but also by the arguments supplied by the voters. The article can still be improved meanwhile (the debate usually lasts about 7 days). If reliable references are added to the article which can show significant coverage and notability, the article is more likely to remain. More details and links to instructions are also in the notice, and the reasons for the deletion nomination can be found at the top of the debate page, issued by the nominator. Thanks, — PaleoNeonate — 23:07, 10 May 2017 (UTC)

Copyright violation on Patrick Thompson
[edit]in this edit you added an entire paragraph of text directly copied from the source you cited. This is copyright infringement, and is taken very seriously by Wikipedia. I have removed the paragraph, and seriously considered simply deleting the page.
It is essential that while Wikipedia articles are based on reliable sources, they are written in original words by our editors, not copied except when an explicit (short) quotation is used, which must be clearly attributed to its author. Please do not copy content fro othe websites into Wikipedia article in future. Thank you. DES (talk) 00:51, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
- Copying the entire description of the group does not constitute a short quotation. —C.Fred (talk) 01:23, 11 May 2017 (UTC)

[edit]Your addition to Patrick Thompson (artist) has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. I see that you replaced the copied text after i removed it and explained why this was not acceptable. Doing this kind of thing is absolutely not permitted, and can lead to you being blocked from editing. DES (talk) 02:21, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Embassy of Imagination (EOI)
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Embassy of Imagination (EOI) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.embassyofimagination.com/about/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Yeryry (talk) 09:50, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
- You wrote on Draft talk:Embassy of Imagination (EOI):
"Sorry, I don't understand why this should be deleted. There are numerous references to the authenticity of the content in national news journals and on television news.
.Is it because the wording of the content is too similar to a website?"
- Yes. More exactly, because most of the content was directly copied from the http://www.embassyofimagination.com/about/ site. You simply may not and must not copy blocks of text from other sites into Wikipedia (except under very limited conditions which did not apply here). I have delete the draft for this reason. You may start over, but it must be written in your own words except for short quotes in quotation marks, attributed to the person being quoted, and with a cited source to show where the quote came from. Most such quotes are 1-2 sentences at most, many are less than a full sentence. DES (talk) 12:57, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
