Hi, i'm Sanha
I have just finished edited articles and I have a question about userbox. Actually I didn't understand how to use userbox last class. Would you leave the tutorial link about userbox here? One more question!. I am a little bit confused about next assignment ' Informal Reviews ' Do you mean that we have to look at articles ,individual creations made by other students, not creations made by group and review them on that article's talk page, right? I am not sure i can get it perfectly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tksgk262 (talk • contribs) 17:02, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

Hi Mr.Piotrus. Editing Wikis, I have one question. When I click to 'edit' button of the top menu, It says 'You are using an alpha version of the VisualEditor. Aye Piotrus, thanks for the Barnstar! Much appreciated. On your mention, I checked up on the Casimir Pulaski page and did some image size adjusting and caption work. Hope it meets with your approval. Btw, the image of the Pulaski stamp is from a photo I took of a stamp in my stamp album. (Yes, I am the proud owner.) When I first started editing/contributing on WP a few years ago I uploaded 100's of stamp images, most from my stamp collection. Cheers! -- Gwillhickers (talk) 05:58, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
Deleted AGAIN how should we do?
Our team7 Beautiful Store's page was deleted again. A person name 'Deb'? deleted it because it is thought as an advertisement. That was what the warning?? sign said.... how should we do ?? help ~~ SOS please~~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by GaHee Park (talk • contribs) 10:31, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
- Hi. Please don't tell me that the criterion for deletion is wrong when you admit you haven't read the article. The fact that it was not intended to be promotional does not alter the fact that it is written in a promotional style. I can see that it may well be a notable topic, but is a very long article and the English is extremely poor, otherwise I might just have tagged it. Also, it's clear from the user's talk page that they have already been recommended to use a sandbox before creating the article. I have now uploaded the content for you here. Deb (talk) 10:57, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
- Hi. Sorry, but I definitely will not restore it. The English is so bad that it is practically incomprehensible, so it is hardly surprising that we disagree as to whether it is promotional or not. If you are acting as an adviser to these students, you owe it to them to help them correct their work before they upload articles. Deb (talk) 11:04, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
- I can't imagine what you are expecting to find in the edit history that you can't find in the creator's sandbox. Deb (talk) 11:47, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
- Actually, come to think of it, I should never have put it in your userspace anyway because it's not your article, so shall I just delete that whole page? Deb (talk) 11:51, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

Your candidacy
Oh, difficult one! I genuinely had not noticed that you were up for consideration. If I had, I would not have voted for you, but I would probably not have opposed you actively either. I have not had much contact with you in the past, and in your favour is the fact that you sought to make up the dispute with me and not to turn it into any kind of ongoing confrontation. However, I did think that your initial approach to me was rather aggressive and that your attempt to get the article restored on technical grounds was a poor use of everyone’s time and showed a lack of judgement. Although I appreciate what you are trying to do with the Korean students, it would have been more profitable if you had just helped them to lick the article into shape rather than making a major issue out of it – in my opinion, this was setting them a bad example, making them think that Wikipedia is here purely to help them practise their English. I would not hold the fact that you have previously been blocked against you in the long term – this has happened to many people who have later become valued contributors. However, I think there may be a communication issue and this may be partly cultural in your case. But don’t misunderstand me, I am not opposed to people becoming administrators just because English isn’t their first language. In short, I see no reason not to trust you but I would not feel able to vote for you at this stage.Deb (talk) 14:24, 25 April 2013 (UTC)

No idea, really. I never seen the term used in any context other than a brief mention that the people who were trying to reach France after 1939 were sometimes jokingly called that. Hello,
I am unable to vote in your RfA; I can only edit via Kindle Fire right now, and I am unable to navigate to the bottom of the Support section. However, I just want to let you know I would support you if I were able.
Love, Keepscases (talk) 00:20, 26 April 2013 (UTC)
- I am able to vote in the RfA, but I will choose not to, as it so much reminds me of what my RfA would look like, were I ever daft enough to submit to one again. If I were Piotrus I'd stick it out now though, nothing much to lose. Malleus Fatuorum 01:31, 26 April 2013 (UTC)
- Piotrus, I really wanted to be on your team there, but the way you let loose on Giano and then others pretty much dictated the rest of events. During RfA, candidates should kiss babies and hand out puppies. Tit-for-tat, whether one is right or wrong, will always end in a failed RfA. Sorry. Drmies (talk) 05:02, 27 April 2013 (UTC)
- Why should they Drmies? Why shouldn't admins be normal human beings with normal reactions? Why must an admin be an ass licking civility obsessive?♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 10:15, 27 April 2013 (UTC)
- Ernst, if I respond to criticism in a more civil way than Piotrus did at the RfA, am I an asslicking civility obsessive? What an odd dichotomy to insert here, and I wonder if you meant to call me that. And I didn't say an admin needs to be anything--you're confusing "being an admin" with "being successful at RfA". Drmies (talk) 15:11, 27 April 2013 (UTC)
- Fair enough w/ regards to my reply to Giano, although I don't believe I was uncivil towards anyone else. I understand now, however, that it is considered improper to reply to others' votes in RFA. I thought I'd impress people by showing that I respect their views and care enough about them to try to engage them. I badly miscalculated. Shrug. Live and lean. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:55, 29 April 2013 (UTC)

No Drmies. You said that Piotrus should be engaged in ultra civil behaviour as the expectation for people running RFA is to "kiss babies and hand out puppies". That is expecting ass licking behaviour from candidates which I think is unreasonable. There is a big difference between a civil, unheated response and ass licking. I'm more suspicious of editors who "hand out puppies" than make a sarcastic retort as I think it often comes across as false and shows a desperation to please everybody just to grab some tools. I think it's time the RFA process was given a complete overhaul. It is just an example of the general extreme approach to wikipedia and the worst case scenario outlook which is prevalent here. Candidates are treated as likely to become the worst case scenario in the same way things like images are treated as "there is a 0.01% chance of being sued, we must not use it" kind of approach. At RFA, every imperfection of a candidate is turned into the primary reason to oppose somebody, even if they are over 90% perfect as an editor, rather than giving them the benefit of the doubt and at least a chance to prove their worth. The wikipedia community generally has the tendency to grossly overreact and look at worst case scenario as a probability, and in my opinion this rigid outlook is slowing down progress and change for the better on here. Just how many positive proposals for reforms (like DYK etc) have been proposed and rejected as no consensus because of hyper response from many? ♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 11:36, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
- Dr. B, I will make the point that it's not so much that the Wikipedia process is particularly broken, as that RfA is little different from any political election. There is a body of academic literature on RfAs, through I don't recall any comprehensive treatment. Unfortunately, I am not enough of a political scientist to be able to provide a better analysis of the RfA, but I doubt that the system is unique. I have written several essays on admins in 2008, back when I still was an admin: On why good admins don't exist. I am afraid that in the five years since the problems I identified back then have not went away, and likely intensified. I am considering writing another essay based on my recent experiences, through I am not sure if this is a good idea; I wouldn't be surprised if by criticizing the RfA I wouldn't open myself to future oppose votes due to disrespecting the RfA process or such :> After all, as I note in my essays, on Wikipedia, everything can and will be used against one, naive spirit of WP:FORGIVE and its larger brother AFG and such be damned, and rotting in their virtual graves for many, many years now :( --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 13:22, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
- Just to let you know that my oppose was singular, and I would remain open in the future. I think Drmies sums it up pretty good above. I would argue that much more is expected from admin than when I started in 2006, and seemingly, more axes to grind as time goes on. There is more established consensus in many areas, so ignoring rules or being bold is more difficult. In most respects, I think this is good for wikipedia, but it doesn't make having (or getting) the bit easier. Anyway, it wasn't personal and I wouldn't have considered events from years ago. I didn't even go look them up. Dennis Brown - 2¢ © Join WER 22:12, 30 April 2013 (UTC)

Tourism
Replying to your message on my talk page:
- Categories include articles as defined on the category page, not as defined on the (sometimes) homonymous article page.
- Category pages do never include references; they do not explain the topic, but only state the scope of the category.
- "Business tourism" does not include war, or refugees.
I'm amazed that an admin candidate wouldn't know about the first two points; the notion that "business tourism" could be stretched to include war seems to indicate a poor knowledge of the English language. Anyway, as youself say here above, "live and learn." Kraxler (talk) 15:19, 30 April 2013 (UTC)
- Replying to your reply: Please read WP:Categorization for more info. Military is not part of the service sector, it's government/administration. And waging war is not business tourism. Just ask your English teacher about it. And now a piece of advice (which you are so eager to get): Do not ever ask somebody about references for common knowledge, it disqualifies you from further debate because the other participant(s) get the notion that you don't know what you're talking about. Farewell! Kraxler (talk) 13:57, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
- P.S.: The source you added today to Service sector, is self-contradictory, since the military has not the public as customers, they work exclusively for the government. Kraxler (talk) 14:10, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
- Feel free to add any article connected with business tourism to the category "Tourism", please avoid to add articles on waging war and refugees, since they are unconnected to the subject. Kraxler (talk) 14:18, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi Piotrus...sorry your Rfa didn't succeed...one thing, while not admin related, that won't hurt is to take 2-3 of your former featured articles and bring them back to that level. I've been working off and on with my oldest FA to get it updated before it winds up at FAR. WikiCup 2013 April newsletter
We are a week into Round 3, but it is off to a flying start, with Sven Manguard (submissions) claiming for the high-importance Portal:Sports and Portal:Geography (which are the first portals ever awarded bonus points in the WikiCup) and Cwmhiraeth (submissions) claiming for a did you know of sea, the highest scoring individual did you know article ever submitted for the WikiCup. Round 2 saw very impressive scores at close; first place Casliber (submissions) and second place Sturmvogel_66 (submissions) both scored over 1000 points; a feat not seen in Round 2 since 2010. This, in part, has been made possible by the change in the bonus points rules, but is also testament to the quality of the competition this year. Pool C and Pool G were most competitive, with three quarters of participants making it to Round 3, while Pool D was the least, with only the top two scorers making it through. The lowest qualifying score was 123, significantly higher than last year's 65, 2011's 41 or even 2010's 100.
The next issue of The Signpost is due to include a brief update on the current WikiCup, comparing it to previous years' competitions. This may be of interest to current WikiCup followers, and may help bring some more new faces into the community. We would also like to note that this round includes an extra competitor to the 32 advertised, who has been added to a random pool. This extra inclusion seems to have been the fairest way to deal with a small mistake made before the beginning of this round, but should not affect the competition in a large way. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please feel free to contact one of the judges.
A rules clarification: content promoted between rounds can be claimed in the round after the break, but not the round before. The case in point is content promoted on 29/30 April, which may be claimed in this round. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. - I think you are missing the point.--IIIraute (talk) 09:15, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
- dementi: Why do you (Tobby72) want to single out one country, i.e. Poland/Poles, while on the other hand you want to summerize the civilian casualties of Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine, etc. as "East Slavic peoples"? [5] The current version does not single out any nationality, but rather gives a short summary of the different categories of (non-combat) casualties: ethnic/ethno-religious groups, POWs, people with mental and/or physical disabilities, homosexuals, and members of the political and religious opposition. The groups mentioned consist of civilian casualties from all European countries, not making a difference between a Jew, Roma, Slav, homosexual, or member of the political and religious opposition from Germany, Poland, France, the Ukraine, or any other European country. And there is a good reason for it, as otherwise the section of this article would have to contain far too much detailed information. The Germany article only includes a short summary of more than a 2000 year history. This is not the right article to deal with such details - other articles do, and the appropriate links are provided.--IIIraute (talk) 06:36, 12 May 2013 (UTC)

Blue Army
For a quick snapshot of the primary source's account of the events, please see the Wikipedia page of the United States envoy to Poland Hugh S. Gibson, and if you would like to reference his official report on the issue you may do so at the US State Department archive. I am not sure how much more bias the 'Controversies' page can get, and what kind of individuals are pushing a special agenda, but if you honestly looked what the US envoy wrote, you would not think that Faustians' contributions are legitimate.
Note how Faustian uses Weasel word to create an overall exaggerated impression of the events in question, and others are used to cast doubt on anything reported by the Polish side as being legitimate... you don't think that this is bias? Everything the Polish side said --68.191.79.36 (talk) 12:53, 12 May 2013 (UTC)is just a "claim".
Also, note how Faustian conveniently referenced a book that had the shooter of the Blue Army soldier in Czestochowa listed as "unknown" I referenced a book link, and it states that the suspected assailant was a local jewish man. And I bet that if I do more research I can find more information that he was indeed a supporter of the Bolshevik cause.
Also, the US envoy stated that may of the newspaper articles reported were false or exaggerated, and actually planted by German and Soviet government sources. Now, these "historians" conducted their research based on those very same false reports, so you can "source" Faustians' version all you want it is still inaccurate. How else could someone like William W. Hagen say that based on his research the Blue Army took part in the Lwow Pogrom when French, British, Polish and American government records had the Blue Army on the Western Front when the Pogrom happened?
Finally, You mean to tell me that secondary source accounts of the events made by the so called "historians" who did their research out of their office, override the primary source accounts made by a United States envoy (no less) who was on the ground at the time of the events?
At the every least the 'Neutrality Tag' should be re-added until the accuracy of the sources can be reviewed, and the language used in the article reviewed by someone else than just You and Faustian. --68.191.79.36 (talk) 12:27, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
- I don't have time, I am afraid, to look into this right now. Please register, and WP:CITE the sources properly, through please remember that Wikipedia prefers secondary to primary sources (see WP:V, WP:RS). --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 12:33, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
- hehehe... You don't have to be afraid, it is nearly impossible to discredit an American envoy, and the man himself was very honorable by all accounts. His report was buried and forgotten, while historians like Hagen sourced and resourced over again. As I stated before there were individual soldier who engaged in antisemitic acts, but the challenge is not to make the text blame the entire army. Theoretically, just as an example you could go into an American Army page and say that "some" troops engaged in racist or anti-Islamic violence, but you don't see that, because claim like that can carry 'undue weight'. --68.191.79.36 (talk) 12:53, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
- Gibson might have been a very credible person but you still need to find a secondary source to include the info. We can't use primary sources for controversial text. See if there's any secondary sources which discuss Gibson's trip to Poland.Volunteer Marek 18:23, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
- But, at the moment I would recommend that the Neutrality Tag should be re-added to the section. I think that there is enough evidence to legitimately raise questions regarding the neutrality of the article, and how the events have been presented. I'd like to point out that even secondary sources can be deeply bias, with authors having their own personal prejudices that infect the research process, thus one should be careful, when fully casting unquestioning faith in secondary sources only. Again, I am not trying to whitewash antisemitic behavior, But, I am convinced that the Polish people have been unfairly demonized by exaggerated and at times false accusations of antisemitism.--68.191.79.36 (talk) 20:49, 12 May 2013 (UTC)

I have watched some of the disciplinary procedures go on, and it is total high school elections all over again, with cliques all supporting each other and few or little oversight. I wonder how basically decent people like you even survive this nonsense. -Samsara9 (talk) 08:16, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
- If you have the time, I appreciate your oversight over Sexism in South Korea; the problem is one of press clubs, and one editor removing references, and some subsequent editor then removing 'unreferenced' claims. -Samsara9 (talk) 20:48, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
- If you can help participate in the Rape in China issue, that would extremely helpful. It's going to be a nightmare because we have editors repeatedly quoting government statistics and therefore gaming WP's rules on notability of sources to claim there is no rape in China. It's mind-boggling what these people are doing. I'm trying not to vomit. -Samsara9 (talk) 03:11, 20 May 2013 (UTC)

Woolwich
You've been around long enough to know how things work here. Please don't edit or touch the 2013 Woolwich attack article because it's pretty clear that you are grinding some sort of axe,[6] though I have no idea what it is. Plenty of eyes are on the article and will do whatever is needed. As a further note, it is definitely not civil to insult somebody's country by declaring a major incident to be trivial. DYK nomination
I have just nominated for DYK an article I just created, the USS Ferret (1822), located at Template:Did you know nominations/USS Ferret (1822) and noticed you are more or less active in such reviews there. Most issues have been dealt with on the Ferret page but a reviewer has an issue with the bibliography formatting. I pointed out that the Tadeusz Kościuszko article employs such formatting in its bibliography and was granted GA status. The reviewer hasn't responded yet (at this time). If we can avoid stripping away all the formatting there that would be nice IMO, lest the sources listed in the bibliography would be all run together. Would appreciate your review also, for better or worse. -- Gwillhickers (talk) 21:01, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
- Piotrus, thanks for your input. As you may have gathered, I am not that familiar with the requirements of DYK. Seems you almost have to have a 'Good Article' to get a DYK rating -- which I suppose is good. Again, thanks for your help. -- Gwillhickers (talk) 22:19, 31 May 2013 (UTC)

The article Tim Jordan (sociologist) has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article. The nominator also raised the following concern:
- All biographies of living people created after March 18, 2010, must have references.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Tassedethe (talk) 01:00, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
- I think its now protected from deletion! :D ツStacey (talk) 09:07, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
A couple of questions ...
Hi Piotrus. It's a while since I have been in contact. I trust you are well. I have a couple of questions/issues:-
1) The page (about the song) "Rose of No Man's Land" should (I believe) be called: "The Rose of No Man's Land". I'm not sure what the procedure is to rename this?
2) How do I apply for an article to be a "good article"?
Thanks in advance and best wishes Richard J Myers (talk)
Hi - thanks - yes your answer was fine - it gives me enough to go on for now. Best wishes - Richard J Myers (talk)

Hello. You have a new message at ColonelHenry's talk page.
Problems with "Your King and Country Need You"
Hi, A couple of days ago I was creating and editing 3 related pages about world war 1 songs with links between each. Right in the middle of my (complicated) edits another editor "jumped in" and thought he knew what I was trying to do and started to rename pages that I was still working on (he didn't understand that there were three similar songs and not two!). Oh dear! Confusion. He has created an erroneous redirect page: "Your King and Country Need You (Pelham)" to link to Your King and Country Need You. Can I ask you to delete this so that I can move the relevant page to this title with the actual content that it should have - in other words this redirect is not required. If you can let me know when you have done this - please let's not have any more complication over this one. I just want to finish properly the work that I started. This has already wasted 2 hours of time. I left a note about editor etiquette on his talk page - he never replied - looks like I'm not the first he has caused problems for. Thanks in advance. Richard J Myers (talk)
Thanks for your reply. I have now fixed it myself as best I can by moving the re-direct page to a temporary name, then renaming "Your King and Country Need You" to Your King and Country Need You (pelham). I cannot use uppercase "p" as the old redirect page is still somewhere in the system. So we now have:-
- Your King and Country Need You (Pelham)
- Your King and Country Need You (Trevor)
- Your King and Country Want You
I hope this all makes sense. Richard J Myers (talk)
Hi, Thanks for your help. I requested deletes of the redirect pages using: "db-g6|". A Bot had created more extra ones trying to fix this! But they have all gone now and the songs have (what I think are) the correct titles to avoid confusion. The confusion between these titles seems to be everywhere on the Internet and also elsewhere in Wikipedia - I have already fixed some of these. The links above have been adjusted to the current titles. Richard J Myers (talk)
