You were missed

[edit]

Good to see you editing again JarrahTree 10:28, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A needed a break, a BIG break. I was asked to make some changes to a couple of wiki pages and that has sort of re-sparked my interest.
So much to do! Perry Middlemiss (talk) 01:26, 5 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
BTW - the method of referencing that I had suggested is stuffed. Your method is the safest for the purposes required, good on you! JarrahTree 04:51, 20 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

In 1938

[edit]

There was a run of https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/99634743?searchTerm=wings%20above%20the%20diamantina items (with very limited explanation at the head of sections) were run - not sure if they are 1936 repeated or not... need a check, if you are able - if that's ok - if it is not, I will try to make a sequence JarrahTree 12:14, 7 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I can look into it. I'll do another pass over all of the Upfield books over the netx week or so. Perry Middlemiss (talk) 22:53, 7 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If I was an antiquarian bookdealer (well thats another story) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Robert_Thatcher#Bibliography - is a frigging nightmare of very rare versus facsimiles, I think I would need more than just a domestic uv test of the paper and the put a page in the light to make up my mind on that lot... Hi, I apologize that my message above was harsher than it could have been. The issue was that the publisher's synopsis, which is neither in the public domain nor under a suitably free license, was copied directly into the article without any indications that it was a quotation. Thank you for re-adding it in your own words and for the sourced reception, and for your contributions to the project in general. DanCherek (talk) 01:14, 5 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

After very poor reading by me at a poets memorial reading the other week, I think the same goes for me - best wishes as well JarrahTree 01:14, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I dont think so

[edit]

In answer to your question. I think adding the projects and an assessment is not a problem, the likelihood of others coming in and evaluating is low, and in the end, I think it is better to have a project tag and an assessment (from inside rater there is a device that makes an assessment anyways, albeit from automated thinking) than to leave blank... JarrahTree 00:24, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, thanks. Perry Middlemiss (talk) 04:06, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
About a decade ago there was sufficient cohort to discuss such issues at the australian/literature talk space - now there is rater - as a means to ease the assessment labours, and inside rater is the ores process that offers what is fundamentally usually the default - low importance - if anyone finds such and wishes to bump items up the slippery slope - they are free to do so - ORES as such is in the process of being phased out - and as soon as the tech geeks are able, I am sure the newer preferred assessment process will be utilised. Until such time - to have https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Evad37/rater/ as a means of doing the talk page is one way to go, if one is interested. JarrahTree 04:34, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to join New pages patrol

[edit]

Hello Perry Middlemiss!

  • The New Pages Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles needing review. We could use a few extra hands to help.
  • We think that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time, but it requires a strong understanding of Wikipedia’s CSD policy and notability guidelines.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
  • If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please consider applying here.

Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!

Indie Book Awards pages

at the gaskin article

[edit]

there is a mention of - commonwealth prize for literature - yet there are no easy pickings in trove for such a titled item - I am wondering whether it is in effect something that has sections or segments that have different names ? your thoughts? JarrahTree 01:33, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the delay in replying, I've been away from home. I hadn't noticed the mention of the "Commonwealth Prize for Literature" in the article before you mentioned it. I've never heard of such a prize until the "Commonwealth Writers' Prize" started in 1987. Austlit gives no clues to it. I wonder if it is in the Burbidge biography of the author. Perry Middlemiss (talk) 23:44, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Never apologise - just answering is appreciated. I was sure that something of a similar name might have been operating even in the 1940s, but not very carefully researched yet. Will get back on this, but it might be ages - real life intervenes in the coming week(s). JarrahTree 01:36, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Good luck with the research. Perry Middlemiss (talk) 22:57, 10 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Honestly I'm not terribly familiar with WikiProjects, I'm not certain of the next steps. Vanderwaalforces (talk · contribs) is making the userbox, and wrote the intro. I'll start tagging once I figure out how to tag articles for taskforces using WP:AWB and WP:Kingbotk, and then after that it's assessments. Organising the main page would very helpful. Or maybe find an article you'd be interested in writing or improving and message people in the participants section that have overlapping interests? Kowal2701 (talk) 08:04, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Project work like this is new to me as well. I'm busy for the rest of this week but will look into it when I can. Perry Middlemiss (talk) 23:15, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Perry Middlemiss, I have begun a draft article for Robbie Arnott's first novel, Flames, and was wondering whether you might like to contribute to that article. I see you have created articles for Arnott's other novels too, so I thought I might ask. Mr Sitcom (talk) 07:56, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, if you get a basic draft up and running I can add in any details later. Perry Middlemiss (talk) 22:56, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, sounds good. Mr Sitcom (talk) 06:18, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Originally awarded by @Dillard421, although he gave it to me (the wrong person) and for some reason never gave it to you afterwards, so I figured I should.

Sorry if I've done this wrong, I've absolutely never given a barnstar in my life. Congrats on it though, and good luck when it comes to any future contributions! Setergh (talk) 11:01, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

JFHJr () 01:45, 23 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I withdrew the AfD after the first response included convincing reasoning and links. I'm sorry for any consternation my notice may have caused you. If you have time, I'd like to help you improve the article. The links at the AfD discussion look useful. When I have more time, I'll return to them and try to support or expand the content. Please let me know if I can help in the meantime. Cheers! JFHJr () 03:32, 23 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The Tom Flood article now seems to be in petty good shape after a number of edits over the past few days.
I think it's always better to put a flag on an article before moving to AfD. I'm gradually working through the Australian literature pages and cleaning up where I can but it does take some time. Perry Middlemiss (talk) 04:48, 23 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
