Australian Literature WikiProject
Hi there, I thought you would like to know that we are trying to get an Australian Literature Project going. I came across your site when I was looking up info for the Robbery Under Arms article. I like it. If your interested, we currently have a WP Australian literature development page.
It would also be helpful if you could list your support of our proposal at the WikiProject Council. There's a lot of work to be done, I think, and the project will really help manage it.

Thea Astley
Well, let that be a lesson to me - next time go to the primary source rather than authoritative-"looking" secondary sources. The literature is confused out there - I assume the original edition has no hyphen either? Can't see copy on internet but NLA catalogue - which MUST be right eh? - has first edition without hyphen. (I must admit it got me to pondering Astley, last night - she's a great wordsith and I wondered what her thoughts were re hyphen or no hyphen. - I suspect only a small band of us notice (notices?) such things as hyphens and who care about the implications! It's a bit like Peter Carey's "True history of the Kelly Gang" not "The true history...". I sometimes wonder whether it matters but I think, really, that it does. Otherwise, what makes literature? - I have my copy - I actually think the spear just goes into Twist's hat and ear, and not through his head...until someone can argue otherwise from cited sources proving a "mistake" or, even, some "confusion" amongst reviewers, I think that's how we should read it? - Well, colour theory is not my thing but I do like to think about presentation. My theory is "less is more" but the Coetzee with the two greys is a bit too "less" and looks rather dull doesn't it? I think the grey for Booker and the lovely blue you've chosen for MF works really well on the Peter Carey article...so I'd leave it at what you've done. It looks good. I suppose what i brought up above was more a warning to know what to expect in worse case scenarios - its not really a big issue unless some misguided enthusiastic fly by ed thinks there is an opportunity to have fun - I would consider your edits good faith and notable and so on - its the insurance issue i am thinking of - cripes if you werent editng there wouldnt be much happening at oz lit - although the canberra gals sure do their bit SatuSuro 02:27, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Yeah there is an invisible intangible place between of getting an art up and being beyond being prey to the speedy delete hawks on recent changes - the list is well beyond that now - well worth initiating hot cat in your prefs if you havent used it - well worth checking out and so much easier than in the old days - cheers SatuSuro 02:33, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

1999 Worldcon Attendance
If the number you are citing for the 1999 Worldcon is correct, you should make sure the WSFS Long List Committee is notified of the correction since the figures that were cited on the chart before your correction match up with the Long List. Shsilver (talk) 01:16, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Les Murray
On the Les Murray page,I've added details to the reference for the source of the quote - he was speaking on stage at the Royal Festival Hall during Poetry International 2000. I hope the quote survives but I know in the world of wikipedia there's a high deletion rate. Incidentally, it says further down in the article he has three children, but in the same interview with Clive James he says his fourth child was diagnosed with autism and that was a reason they stayed longer in the city than they wanted.Sayerslle (talk) 03:21, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
If you want 'a link to an external reference'..well, I'm not totally sure what that means to be honest, I only started editing a few articles on wikipedia a month ago. All I can add to the reference is that the interview was screened on a digital tv channel in Britain called Sky Arts. If you mean where could you check a transcript I don't know , maybe there isn't one, but details of the programme are presumably available from Sky Arts. One thing I like about wikipedia is the way it can catch odd fragments, odd quotes that reveal character etc..I didn't make it up you know, I think the internal evidence of the quote, it's style, it's humour , proves it's provenance. If you don't like it being there then delete it, but it is an accurate quote.Sayerslle (talk) 01:26, 1 February 2009 (UTC) I've just searched the Sky Arts website and though unfortunately there is no transcript of the interview there , it does have an alphabetical list of their programmes and under 'c' there is 'Clive James meets Les Murray' and gives a list of the poems Murray read on the occcasion. Warning: You're being robbed
This is to inform you that I intend to rob you blind for information on Australian poetry books in the various "[year] in Australian literature" pages. I'm sticking information from there into the corresponding "[year] in poetry" pages and adding a "see also" link at the top of the Australian sections of those pages back to each robbed page. Feel free to retaliate by stealing information from the year-in-poetry pages, which identify Australian poetry books either in their own separate sections or in the "Other in English" section. These Australian poetry sections go back to somewhere in the 1950s or so (much of it from the Encyclopedia Britannica Book of the Year, apparently). There seems to be surprisingly little overlap in the few pages that I've raided so far. Also, the births and deaths sections, going back into the 19th century, have Australians, which I took from the List of Australian poets article. AFL nicknames, critations
Hi,
I'm new to wiki, I don't know much about critations. You recently removed some of my addins such as Jonathan Brown, and a few others.
I was wondering if you could maybe replace them again, with all due respect, I don't really know where to get critations but all AFL fans do know about these nicknames.

The concept behind Wikipedia is that it should be "encyclopedic". That is, we should only only add "facts" if they can be verified by independent sources. These sources are normally other internet web pages from newspapers, books, websites etc. If an AFL nickname is used in a newspaper article then it's available for citation, otherwise it's just a rumour or hearsay. The idea with this list is to include nicknames in common usage. The way I work is to run a Google search for the player and the nickname. When I find it I add it to the list along with its reference.
May I suggest that you register a user name for your edits. I use my real name but it's up to you what moniker you use. Without one your edits will be looked on as drive-by, and therefore as having less authority: other editors won't trust them in other words. We all start out as novices. And we all make mistakes in the beginning - I've been doing this for years and still make errors. Doesn't matter, if your intention is good it will be fixed by you or someone else, and you learn from it and do a better job next time.
Also, I didn't revert your edits on 19th September. That was done by "Blue520". The page was just reverted to my last edits as that was the last "clean" page that editor could find. Some editors just revert edits and don't try to fix them up. This may be because they want to show the reverted editor that they need to do better, or because they don't have time, or...pick a reason.
I prefer to fix edits where I can on pages I follow. I've just edited the page to add "the Little Master" as a nickname for Gary Ablett, Jr. Have a look at what I've done and see if you can duplicate it for the other nicknames you previously added that have been reverted.
