Disused railway stations in Renfrewshire / East Renfrewshire / Inverclyde
Hello, you recently reverted a number of changes I made concerning the above categories. Of course you are perfectly correct to state that the closures happened when the locations concerned were in the county of Renfrewshire, but I respectfully disagree with your interpretation of how this should affect categorisation. As such, I would like to draw your attention to a discussion I have initiated at Category talk:Disused railway stations in Renfrewshire and would be interested to hear your views. Kirknewton Railway Station
Hiya
Any chance you could poll other editors about the 'footbridge' issue at Kirknewton? An unregistered (new) editor is making repeated edits and previous citation requests have been ignored. Fact: there is no footbridge at the station.
Personally, I know it was not there in 1982 (long before electrification), although the new editor appears to believe otherwise. I think it's fairer to state there is no footbridge at the station (fact) and not connect it to electrification until a sourse is quoted. Thoughts? Forthbridge (talk) 22:17, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
This [1] shows that there is no footbridge at this station. To see this you click on "satellite" and zoom in on the station. The clear presence of a level crossing at the west end of the station may be the reason. Britmax (talk) 22:50, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
This is correct. Two accommodation bridges (one east and one west of the station) existed, and one of these was removed at electrification (the other rebuilt). The was a footbridge at the station, but as far as I am aware it was removed well before electrification as access between platforms was available at the crossing. Crieff Junction
Thanks for converting the line diagram here to a template. I would point out to you that I can find no reference to Crieff Junction as a separate station and Butt has it renamed as Gleneagles, so would appreciate you double checking my findings and then maybe we can decide what to do about it. As you know HyL is not a station by the normal definition (a place where passengers start or end their journey) - it is a loop - Just like Traeth Mawr was --Keith 05:00, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
- But there is a platform there; I have seen passengers get on there. As far as HMR&C are concerned there is a station there otherwise there would be a VAT burden on the fares the passengers are being charged. There is also to be a permanent halt in the future. --Stewart (talk | edits) 10:35, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
- I bow to your "on plot" knowledge, and appreciate your point. However, current official publicity still indicates passengers "cannot join or leave the train at this location". The small platform is "provided for emergency and operational purposes". As for the future "permanent halt", yes - (a rhetorical) - when? --Keith 11:31, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
I notice you created this back in 2007. A request has been made to merge it with Innocent Railway. It would be interesting to know your view. --John (talk) 21:35, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
- I went ahead and merged. Thanks for your input. --John (talk) 04:24, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
Linking question
Hi, can you direct me to the discussion from 18 months ago which you mentioned about linking in railway template headers? It'd be useful for future reference. Thanks! Cnbrb (talk) 23:37, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
- No problem - I did a prelimary search last night but could not find it. I have been linking as you had been and I think it was User:AlisonW who started taking them off as the same time the v.d.e ledgend appeared at the top. I started adding the main article tag to the templatees at the same time. will get back to you once I have completed reviewing the relevant talk pages. ~~----
