Hi. I'm impressed by the above as a beginning for a rich topic (OK, I have a vested interest). I'm on the Kingston PgDip/MA IC course at the moment, so I have references coming out of my ears. I'd like to undertake the radical overhaul that this article has been begging for, for a while. Hallo, I came across this trio while stub-sorting.

I added a hatnote to the first one, to make the other two accessible - we could alternatively have had a disambiguation page but I think this works OK.

Fulham Bridge?

Hi Paul -

Very impressed by your contributions, particularly on London local history and construction.

I am very new to activity on Wikipedia, so please forgive the occasional solecism. I wanted to draw to your attention a possible inaccuracy in the article on Putney Bridge which you commenced. I wouldn't presume to change the article myself, though I have posted a version of the text below on the Talk page. If you agree there may be an inaccuracy we can possibly discuss how the article and its links might be revised.

This is what I wrote on Talk:Putney Bridge:

The naming of the wooden bridge in existence between 1729 and 1886 as 'Putney Bridge' may be disputed. There is evidence from contemporary engravings etc that the crossing was known as Fulham Bridge, and the existence of a gatehouse straddling the bridge at the northern bank suggests that it was named for its northern terminus. The present alignment of Fulham High Street deviates away from the main route over Putney Bridge: below the junction with New King's Road, Fulham High Street runs away to the E, finishing in a cul-de-sac adjacent to the riverbank. I surmise that the main road originally continued over the former Fulham Bridge, which was built on an alignment different from the 1886 Putney Bridge.

The construction of Putney Bridge in 1886, on an alignment which ended on the N bank some 100 yards W of the former alignment, led to some consequential changes to the arrangement of buildings in Fulham. All Saints Church was substantially rebuilt, also in 1886, as the structure, of medieval origin, could no longer be adequately protected from flooding. Quite why this option was taken, rather than the embanking of the north bank of the river (subsequently successfully undertaken), is unclear. The former vicarage of All Saints, which stood on the plot now called Vicarage Gardens, immediately to the W of the Putney Bridge approach on the N side, was demolished in 1915 and a new one constructed at 70 Fulham High Street on land belonging to Fulham Palace. All this suggests to me that a new page should be created for Fulham Bridge and associated articles (e.g. Putney Bridge, Fulham, Putney) edited accordingly.

CIPR

I saw your note in the editing history about whether we should include each CEO under the Leadership section. When I started the leadership section, I didn't realize the position swapped out every year. Knowing that, I think it would be best to scratch the section and merge it with the Organization section. I would actually evaluate (just making conversation) on the basis of whether the President left a mark on the organization or had a distinctive leadership style, as oppose to if the individual is notable on their own, but if each President is only there for 1 year, that doesn't leave us with much rich information to give the reader.

Hi Paul. I'm working on the Chartered Institute of Public Relations article in the hope we can bring it up to GA status. Would love any feedback you have. One of my primary concerns is the lack of available secondary sourcing for huge swaths of history and some of its organization, as well as what level of detail to cover awards, code of conduct, etc.. My interest was initially drawn due to their COI guidelines, but I want to work some of the articles I've been heavily involved in up to GA status. Corporate 20:50, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

Oh congrats! Sounds like fun. I've done a couple trainings for PR agencies in the US, but we don't have anything official like what CIPR is doing. Mostly the US PR community seems to be becoming increasingly more ill-informed ;-)
In any case if you know of any good secondary sources that are missing - in particular about the big gaps in their history, I'll certainly include them. I was surprised CIPR didn't want to take a shot at it following their own best practices sort of speak. Samuel and Henrietta Barnett

Hi, I noticed that you reverted the edit I made last night to Samuel Barnett with a note that he's not a saint. I made the edit after noticing him and his wife (Henrietta) listed as the saints of the day (June 17) in wikipedia's Church of England calendar. I'm not British, and don't particularly know where I could doublecheck their sainthood quickly (phoning Lambeth palace isn't going to happen:)). As an anglican convert in the US know I can doublecheck the episcopalian calendar at satucket.com. Anyway, the Henrietta Barnett entry's much worse, and my time's limited.Jweaver28 (talk) 13:14, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I unreverted my edit when I saw a similar change on Henrietta Barnett's page. I have little knowledge of sainthood or the CofE's liturgical calendar, but I have let it stand for now in the hope that someone more knowledgeable will apply the right nuance to that aspect of the page (I thought saints had to be approved by the Pope). Hi, thanks for the update. As far as I know, the Pope doesn't approve non-Catholic saints. In Protestant churches (as in the pre-1000 church) church councils (in the Episcopal Church of both ecclesiastics and laypeople every 2 years) determine those worthy of remembrance on their calendars. I find the CofE and other calendars offer interesting viewpoints of spiritual developments/responses in recent centuries.Jweaver28 (talk) 01:19, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

London Bridge waterworks

Hi - I see that you originally wrote the article on Peter Morice who built the original water pump under London Bridge. That article states that, following their destruction in the Great Fire of London, "replacements engineered by his grandson remained under the bridge until the early 19th century." The article on George Sorocold says that he "rebuilt London Bridge Water Works". In his book Chelsea to Cairo: Taylor-made Water Through Eleven Reigns and in Six Continents, Gwilym Roberts says that "In consequence (of the fire), the descendants of Peter Morris (stet) sold their rights and title in 1701 to a Mr. Soame, a goldsmith. He engaged George Sorocold to design and install a third waterwheel under the fourth arch". Several other sources refer to Sorocold installing the new pumps in 1705. Can you let me have your comments? My interest is that I am putting together an article on the Coultershaw Beam Pump near Petworth in West Sussex, which my sources refer to as being based in design on the pumps installed by Sorocold.
