Recent changes
- You can use the new termbox interface if you edit Wikidata on a mobile device. This is to edit labels, descriptions and aliases easier on the mobile pages. [1]
- The new version of MediaWiki has been deployed during the last week.
- The previously announced change of positions of the "Wikidata item" link on all wikis has been rollbacked due to unexpected cache issues. [2]
- The limit for rollbacks has been increased from 10 to 100 rollbacks per minute. [3]
- The advanced version of the edit review pages (Recent Changes, Watchlist, and Related Changes) now include two new filters. These filters are for "All contents" and "All discussions". They will filter the view to just those namespaces. However the "All discussions" filter does not include pseudo talk pages, like discussions that are in the Project: or Wikipedia: namespaces. But it will include changes happening on Project talk: or the Wikipedia talk:. [4]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 3 September. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 4 September. It will be on all wikis from 5 September (calendar).
- When you log in, the software checks your password to see if it follows the Password policy. From this week, it will also complain if your password is one of the most common passwords in the world. If your password is not strong enough, please consider to change your password for a stronger password. [5]
Meetings
- You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 4 September at 15:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- You will be able to read but not to edit Wikidata for up to 30 minutes on September 10 at 05:00 (UTC). [6]
- You will be able to read but not to edit some mid-sized wikis for up to 30 minutes September 17 at 05:00 (UTC). You can see which wikis. [7]
- You will be able to read but not to edit some mid-sized wikis for up to 30 minutes September 24 at 05:00 (UTC). You can see which wikis. [8]
- You will be able to read but not to edit Wikimedia Commons for up to 30 minutes on September 26 at 05:00 (UTC). [9]

- The advanced version of the edit review pages (recent changes, watchlist, and related changes) now includes two new filters. These filters are for "All contents" and "All discussions". They will filter the view to just those namespaces.
- A request for comment is open to provide an opportunity to amend the structure, rules, and procedures of the 2019 English Wikipedia Arbitration Committee election and to resolve any issues not covered by existing rules.
- A global request for comment is in progress regarding whether a user group should be created that could modify edit filters across all public Wikimedia wikis.
Dylan Sibanda
Can you please be more careful when draftifying? There was an ongoing AFD (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dylan Sibanda) when you draftified Dylan Sibanda, and it had been un-drafitified before. Iffy★Chat -- 21:53, 7 September 2019 (UTC)
I have unreviewed a page you curated
Hi, I'm Ammarpad. I wanted to let you know that I saw the page you reviewed, Tayo Ayinde, and have marked it as unpatrolled. It's a copyright violation. You should be checking that first, especially on articles as suspicious as that. Thanks.

New Page Review newsletter September-October 2019
Hello Path slopu,
- Backlog
Instead of reaching a magic 300 as it once did last year, the backlog approaching 6,000 is still far too high. An effort is also needed to ensure that older unsuitable older pages at the back of the queue do not get automatically indexed for Google.
- Coordinator
A proposal is taking place here to confirm a nominated user as Coordinator of NPR.
- This month's refresher course
Why I Hate Speedy Deleters, a 2008 essay by long since retired Ballonman, is still as valid today. Those of us who patrol large numbers of new pages can be forgiven for making the occasional mistake while others can learn from their 'beginner' errors. Worth reading.
- Deletion tags
Do bear in mind that articles in the feed showing the trash can icon (you will need to have 'Nominated for deletion' enabled for this in your filters) may have been tagged by inexperienced or non NPR rights holders using Twinkle. They require your further verification.
- Paid editing
Please be sure to look for the tell-tale signs of undisclosed paid editing. Contact the creator if appropriate, and submit the issue to WP:COIN if necessary. WMF policy requires paid editors to connect to their adverts.
- Subject-specific notability guidelines' (SNG). Alternatives to deletion
- Reviewers are requested to familiarise themselves once more with notability guidelines for organisations and companies.
- Blank-and-Redirect is a solution anchored in policy. Please consider this alternative before PRODing or CSD. Note however, that users will often revert or usurp redirects to re-create deleted articles. Do regularly patrol the redirects in the feed.
- Not English
- A common issue: Pages not in English or poor, unattributed machine translations should not reside in main space even if they are stubs. Please ensure you are familiar with WP:NPPNE. Check in Google for the language and content, and if they do have potential, tag as required, then move to draft. Modify the text of the template as appropriate before sending it.
- Tools
Regular reviewers will appreciate the most recent enhancements to the New Pages Feed and features in the Curation tool, and there are still more to come. Due to the wealth of information now displayed by ORES, reviewers are strongly encouraged to use the system now rather than Twinkle; it will also correctly populate the logs.
Stub sorting, by SD0001: A new script is available for adding/removing stub tags. See User:SD0001/StubSorter.js, It features a simple HotCat-style dynamic search field. Many of the reviewers who are using it are finding it an improvement upon other available tools.
Assessment: The script at User:Evad37/rater makes the addition of Wikiproject templates extremely easy. New page creators rarely do this. Reviewers are not obliged to make these edits but they only take a few seconds. They can use the Curation message system to let the creator know what they have done.
DannyS712 bot III is now patrolling certain categories of uncontroversial redirects. Curious? Check out its patrol log.
Go here to remove your name if you wish to opt-out of future mailings.

Hey Path Slopu,
I really appreciate you helping me properly create my first article. I have adjusted the article and would like to submit it for review, hopefully this time there is more reputable information. I also did inline citing where I could, some of that is hard like where she grew up and things like that, a large portion of that all came from one source. Anyways, I clicked the button to submit it for review but it didn't seem to work and comes up with a small edit box in the corner and says something about editing the template. I don't think I want to hit publish at the top because I want to submit it for review first and make sure it meets the standards for being published. For the Edith Covensky article, the Israeli/American poet. Thanks a lot! Manser.ryan

rogue page review
any reason why you marked my well-referenced page as having no citations and as a stub, then templated me? Trying to assume good faith, but I honestly can't think why you'd do that not for trolling unless you hadn't actually looked at the page. Kingsif (talk) 12:43, 13 September 2019 (UTC)

Smitha_Antony article
Hello Path Slopu,
This is about the article on Smitha_Antony that I submitted for review. This article is at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Smitha_Antony There are external references (prominent news paper articles) to the facts that I have submitted.
One of the external reference links is sourced from the Malayala Manorama Newspaper which has a circulation base of 2.1 million (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malayala_Manorama).
Another news paper source is the Hindu (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hindu) which has a circulation base of 1.3 million.
A third news paper source is the Indian Express (http://www.newindianexpress.com/cities/kochi/2019/jul/11/strings-sing-in-her-hands-2002199.html).
A fourth news paper source is from an Australian online publication but it is in the language Malayalam. The link is at http://www.metrom.com.au/articles/smitaa-aanrrnnikk-baalbhaask-purskaarn/
I also have in my possession, a newspaper clipping (print edition) from one of the newspapers and photos from the award ceremony of the award that I mentioned as one of the subjects' achievements.
I went through the reliable sources guidelines and notability guidelines for publishing articles about individuals and I am thinking of what other evidences can I furnish to ensure that the article meets the criteria for publishing. I humbly request you to reconsider and advise me on what more I could do to improve on the article.
--Harshanrajan (talk) 03:48, 17 September 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for the Barnstar. It looks like you moved Satans Black Wedding (2019) to draft space after it was nominated for AfD. While draftify is an outcome that can happen at AfD, please don't move pages up for discussion at AfD out of mainspace - it can confuse the discussion. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 17:11, 17 September 2019 (UTC)
- And on that note, please stop moving/draftifying pages. Your move of Rudolf Värnlund was completely inappropriate. Praxidicae (talk) 17:22, 17 September 2019 (UTC)
- @Barkeep49 and Praxidicae:Hi greetings, extremely sorry for the mistake. I won't try to move pages in AfD discussions in my future activities. Also sorry for the inappropriate moves, I'll move pages very carefully in future reviews. Thank you very much for the advices. Hope to give this kind of advices in the future also. Thank you.--PATH SLOPU 14:20, 18 September 2019 (UTC)

I am not sure why you reverted all the changes made to the WSH page. I have restored them and removed the offending link to indiegogo. I am not not sure why you don't like a link to an indiegogo campaign page, it seems just as valuable as any blog post or social media item, but no matter.
The page is more accurate with my changes and decidedly not up to date without them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.111.232.123 (talk) 19:45, 18 September 2019 (UTC)

Vandalism warning at User:Niggle1892
This was an improper warning. If you had bothered to read the ongoing AFD (now closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dardanus (Raymond Leppard recording)) on this page, Niggle1892 was removing content that was considered to be a copyvio. Please apologize to him on his talk page.4meter4 (talk) 13:42, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
An urgent word of explanation!
Hallo. I've just read your three messages on my Talk page. To cut a long story as short as possible, I recently created some fifty articles about recordings featuring the opera singer Frederica von Stade. A user called Softlavender nominated all but two of them for deletion. Monitoring the discussions about what should happen to them, I noticed that a user called Smerus had said that they should be deleted on the grounds that the paraphrased reviews which I had included in their "Critical reception" sections constituted violation of copyright. I removed these paraphrased reviews in order to try to save the articles from being deleted altogether. I was trying to preserve the articles, not to vandalize them. My intention was then to replace the paraphrased reviews that I had removed with rewritten versions that Smerus would accept. (So far I have had the time to do this with only one article, The Three-Cornered Hat (André Previn recording).) I hope that I have explained all this clearly. If you have any questions, please leave a message on my Talk page.Niggle1892 (talk) 17:43, 25 September 2019 (UTC)

But if you were trying to revert vandalism, it would not come under 3RR, but also should be in good faith ( see WP:3RRNO). Regards. PATH SLOPU 07:07, 7 October 2019 (UTC)

If it seems reliable, we can infer that the users may have any outside conversation about the article as you said in your usertalk. Or the user is trying to create a fake story to show he's honest. Future changes
- The Community Wishlist Survey has a new format. It will focus on wikis that typically get less support. It will probably go back to the normal format next year. It is not decided exactly how it will work this year. You can leave feedback.
- The URL of the Wikimedia wiki main pages could be changed. This is because the current URLs cause several problems. For example
https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Main_Page
would behttps://www.wikidata.org/
instead. You can tell the developers if this would cause problems for your wiki. - There is a new technical community newsletter. You can read more about the work of Wikimedia's technical community. Subscribe to get the information in the future.
- Outreachy is an internship program for groups who are underrepresented in free and open-source software. There are seven Wikimedia projects about coding, documentation and quality assurance in the next round. Persons who fit the criteria can apply. The last day to apply is 5 November.

Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
Note: All columns in this table are sortable, allowing you to rearrange the table so the articles most interesting to you are shown at the top. All images have mouse-over popups with more information. For more information about the columns and categories, please consult the documentation and please get in touch on SuggestBot's talk page with any questions you might have.
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better — thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from Nettrom (talk), SuggestBot's caretaker. -- SuggestBot (talk) 13:45, 10 October 2019 (UTC)

Recent changes
- You can now use more advanced editing tools on the mobile web. You can turn them on and off in your preferences in the mobile version. [15]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 15 October. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 16 October. It will be on all wikis from 17 October (calendar).
Meetings
- You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 16 October at 15:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- Internet Explorer 6 and 7 are no longer supported. This means the browsers might start looking a bit weird. They will not get security support. You can't read Wikimedia wikis in Internet Explorer on Windows XP or Windows versions that are older than Windows XP. This is because almost no one uses the browsers anymore. Supporting them made the wikis less secure for everyone else. [16]
- In the future section headings might have a share link. This is to make it easier to link to the section. You can read more and discuss.

Reviewed Draft:Dr. Gurpreet Singh Wander
Hello Path Slopu,
This is regarding the article that I submitted about Dr. Gurpreet Singh Wander. You have left a message then that the article was not neutral and there were no reliable sources to support the information shared about him. I have gone through couple of articles on Wikipedia and have edited the article with sufficient reliable sources. Kindly check and help me to get this article published. Please suggest if the article needs to be further edited as I am fairly new and this is my first submission. I have deleted all the irrelevant information and added facts about him. Looking forward for your response. Here is the url of the draft for your reference : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Dr._Gurpreet_Singh_Wander#References Envisage Insights (talk) 13:31, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
- @Envisage Insights:Hi greetings, welcome to Wikipedia. I declined the draft because it had to be improved to become a Wikipedia article. Please see that, you have used some phrases which is not compatible with our Neutral Point of View policy. Please read this section to know how to achieve neutrality in articles. Your reference help to pass the notability guidelines. Please consider this and edit the draft with a NPOV. Then please wait for review process. The notable articles will surely be accepted. You don't worry about that. Thank you.--PATH SLOPU 14:47, 15 October 2019 (UTC)
RFPP Declined Requests
Hi there,
I and Scott Burley have just declined a number of your page protection requests.
You were obviously right as to there being various issues on the pages and to revert (or adapt, in a few cases). However, RFPP requests aren't really needed if there's only a single editor/IP causing problems, even if they do so repeatedly - it's easier to warn them and then send them to AIV/ANI, rather than cause the collateral damage of a page protect. Hope that helps, let me know if you've got any questions Nosebagbear (talk) 17:32, 19 October 2019 (UTC)
- @Nosebagbear:Thank you very much for the advice. I'll consider in my future reverts. Thank you.PATH SLOPU 05:32, 20 October 2019 (UTC)

Recent changes
- The API sandbox and help pages now show more clearly when API modules are marked as
internal
. API modules marked as internal were probably internal before. It was easier to miss. You should look for non-internal alternatives. [17]
Problems
- There is a translation tool we use on wikis with more than one language. For a few days it did not create pages for new languages when someone translated a page. The languages did not show in the language bar. This has been fixed. [18]
- The history and diffs can show wrong content. This is because of a cache problem. It will soon be fixed. [19]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 22 October. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 23 October. It will be on all wikis from 24 October (calendar).
- Reference Previews will be a beta feature on all Wikipedias and some Wikivoyages. It shows you a preview of the footnote when you hover over or click on the number. It has been a beta feature on German and Arabic Wikipedia since April.
Meetings
- You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 23 October. See how to join.

Hey guy what's up Decently you're working at this forum.
I'd like to request you to please nominate my name for adminship at Wikipedia:Request an RfA nomination.
It'd be a great favour if you make my aspirations of being an admin a reality citing that I've an experience of about half -a-year of editing and appreciated and thanked by many-a-users.
Thanking you

- @SHISHIR DUA:Hi greetings, wishing you a nice day. I appreciate your intention to become an admin in Wikipedia. Administrator is one of the most responsible person in Wikipedia. It needs a well experience in editing. Administrators assume these responsibilities as volunteers after undergoing a community review process. But as my personal opinion you should have much more experience to become an admin. If you apply/nominate to RfA in current situation, it will probably denied (opposed by other users). Please read these..
But don't worry wait for some more time and be more familiar with Wikipedia. Also please sign your posts with four tildes-- ~~~~

Page mover granted
Hello, Path slopu. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, move subpages when moving the parent page(s), and move category pages.
Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect
is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.
Useful links:
- Wikipedia:Requested moves
- Category:Articles to be moved, for article renaming requests awaiting action.

Thank you for undoing edits made to the wikipedia entry of 'Jan Deckers' by Solsticesummer earlier today. I am not a regular Wikipedia user, and may have wrongly removed some tags (inserted on the page in August 2016). However, the edits make sense as all statements have been verified by reference to external sources. New Page Review newsletter November 2019
Hello Path slopu,
This newsletter comes a little earlier than usual because the backlog is rising again and the holidays are coming very soon.
- Getting the queue to 0
There are now 805 holders of the New Page Reviewer flag! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog but it's still roughly less than 10% doing 90% of the work. Now it's time for action.
Exactly one year ago there were 'only' 3,650 unreviewed articles, now we will soon be approaching 7,000 despite the growing number of requests for the NPR user right. If each reviewer soon does only 2 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by every reviewer doing only 1 review every 2 days - that's only a few minutes work on the bus on the way to the office or to class! Let's get this over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.
Want to join? Consider adding the NPP Pledge userbox.
Our next newsletter will announce the winners of some really cool awards.
- Coordinator
Admin Barkeep49 has been officially invested as NPP/NPR coordinator by a unanimous consensus of the community. This is a complex role and he will need all the help he can get from other experienced reviewers.
- This month's refresher course
Paid editing is still causing headaches for even our most experienced reviewers: This official Wikipedia article will be an eye-opener to anyone who joined Wikipedia or obtained the NPR right since 2015. See The Hallmarks to know exactly what to look for and take time to examine all the sources.
- Tools
- It is now possible to select new pages by date range. This was requested by reviewers who want to patrol from the middle of the list.
- It is now also possible for accredited reviewers to put any article back into the New Pages Feed for re-review. The link is under 'Tools' in the side bar.
- Reviewer Feedback
Would you like feedback on your reviews? Are you an experienced reviewer who can give feedback to other reviewers? If so there are two new feedback pilot programs. New Reviewer mentorship will match newer reviewers with an experienced reviewer with a new reviewer. The other program will be an occasional peer review cohort for moderate or experienced reviewers to give feedback to each other. The first cohort will launch November 13.
- Second set of eyes
- Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work, especially while some routine tagging for deletion can still be carried out by non NPR holders and inexperienced users. Read about it at the Monitoring the system section in the tutorial. If you come across such editors doing good work, don't hesitate to encourage them to apply for NPR.
- Do be sure to have our talk page on your watchlist. There are often items that require reviewers' special attention, such as to watch out for pages by known socks or disruptive editors, technical issues and new developments, and of course to provide advice for other reviewers.
- Arbitration Committee
The annual ArbCom election will be coming up soon. All eligible users will be invited to vote. While not directly concerned with NPR, Arbcom cases often lead back to notability and deletion issues and/or actions by holders of advanced user rights.
- Community Wish list
There is to be no wish list for WMF encyclopedias this year. We thank Community Tech for their hard work addressing our long list of requirements which somewhat overwhelmed them last year, and we look forward to a successful completion.

Failed round-robin move
Hi, Path slopu. It looks like you were trying to move St. George's Forane Church, but you left it as a redirect to itself. I'm not sure of all the components of this intended move, so I won't try to fix it myself, but hope you can do so. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 15:03, 7 November 2019 (UTC)
- @R'n'B:Thank you ver much for the help. I am extremely sorry for the mistake. It was only the problem in the clean up (that was one of my first time round robin move with redirects, but in subsequent moves, I did the cleaning up properly.) Rectified the issue. Please check. I'll consider your advice in my future moves. Your advices are so helpful. Hope you'll help in future also. Thank you.--PATH SLOPU 13:29, 8 November 2019 (UTC)
