Bob Olson
Some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Bob Olson may not be sufficiently well-known to merit articles of their own. The Wikipedia community welcomes newcomers, and encourages them to become Wikipedians. On Wikipedia, each user is entitled to a user page in which they can describe themselves, and this article's content may be incorporated into that page. However, to merit inclusion in the encyclopedia proper, a subject must be notable. We encourage you to write or improve articles on notable subjects. Vegaswikian 06:28, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
- The notice is the standard generic bio one. The problem with the article as written is that it in no way showed that the person was notable. This article has been deleted several times in the past. One claimed that he was a trumpet player and another was basically nonsense. So if an article is written it needs to show that the individual is notable. Vegaswikian 05:49, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
League of Copyeditors
Welcome to the League, Paradoxsociety. Rintrah 12:05, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
League of Copyeditors participation drive!
Dear League member,
We've started a participation drive for the remainder of February. If you can, please help clear the backlog by adopting the following goals each week:
- Select an article to copy-edit from the backlog. After your copy-edit, list the article in the articles ready for final proofread section.
- Select a different article to proofread from the articles ready for final proofread section.
Thanks for your help! Rintrah 16:02, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
Hi. I'm sorry to bother you, but as a LoCE member, I just wondered if you would be willing to have a look through the Sheerness article. It is currently a Featured Article Candidate and needs a copy-edit for grammar by someone who hasn't yet seen it. Any other ways to improve the article would also be welcome. Thank you very much, if you can. Epbr123 17:47, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
Your VandalProof Application
Thank you for your interest in VandalProof, Qwazywabbit. As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that: you don't have at least 250 mainspace edits. Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank again for your interest in VandalProof. Snowolf How can I help? 01:46, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
League of Copyeditors roll call
Greetings from the League of Copyeditors. Your name is listed on our members page, but we are unsure how many of the people listed there are still active contributors to the League's activities. If you are still interested in participating in the work of the League, please follow the instructions at the members page to add your name to the active members list. Once you have done that, you might want to familiarise yourself with the new requests system, which has replaced the old /proofreading subpage. As the old system is now deprecated, the main efforts of the League should be to clear the substantial backlog which still exists there. The League's services are in as high demand as ever, as evinced by the increasing backlog on our requests pages, both old and new. While FA and GA reviewers regularly praise the League's contributions to reviewed articles, we remain perennially understaffed. Fulfilling requests to polish the prose of Wikipedia's highest-profile articles is a way that editors can make a very noticeable difference to the appearance of the encyclopedia. On behalf of the League, if you do consider yourself to have left, I hope you will consider rejoining; if you consider yourself inactive, I hope you will consider returning to respond to just one request per week, or as many as you can manage. Merry Christmas and happy editing, The League of Copyeditors. |

Your VandalProof Application
Thank you for your interest in VandalProof, Paradoxsociety. As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that:
You do not yet have enough experience either fighting vandals on Wikipedia, or simply editing. We generally ask for over 250 mainspace edits, and some examples of vandalfighting.
Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank again for your interest in VandalProof. Ale_Jrbtalk 19:28, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
Welcome to VandalProof!
Thank you for your interest in VandalProof, Paradoxsociety! You have now been added to the list of authorized users, so if you haven't already, simply download and install VandalProof from our main page. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or any other moderator, or you can post a message on the discussion page. Ale_Jrbtalk 15:07, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
Userfying
I can't find the precedent off the top of my head, but ultimately it comes from a dose of WP:AGF with a little WP:BITE. In this case, it was pretty clear: User:Timgold1 created an article about Tim Gold. That clearly appeared to be an article about himself, so I went "Ah! He must have meant to create a user page instead of an article." That's why, instead of deleting it outright, I moved it to his userpage.
Note that I only do this with a strong link either in the username or page content, and only if there is no pre-existing userpage. —C.Fred (talk) 00:49, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
First off, welcome to the world of vandal-fighting! You did nearly everything correct. When you find yourself warning a particular username/IP multiple times, go ahead and take a look at their contribs and revert any vandalism you may find and warn appropriately. Also, in this particular case, you gave one extra warning. I usually think that a level 1, level 2, level 3, level 4 succession is absolutely perfect. (My usual warning pattern is level 1/level 2, level 3, level 4, block). In this case, there were two level 2 warnings (one for vandalism and one for edit testing). Escalation would have been more appropriate than an additional level 2 in that case. As for the speed, well that's just what a vandal-only account's edit pattern is. Due to the efforts of recent changes volunteers, we usually catch them extremely quickly. As for your goal of becoming a sysop, well as you probably realize, you've got some work ahead of you because of your experience and edit-count. I'd suggest, if you haven't already, taking a look at the ongoing RfAs, and the successful ones to get the idea of what the community is looking for in that regard. Also, most people who participate there will like to see some article-building contributions, so pick an article you'd like to improve and do just that. It doesn't have to be perfect, but something is better than nothing. If you've got any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. -MBK004 05:11, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
I almost lost what I was working on because of you
I was editing Executive Magistrates of the Roman Republic and you made some irrelevant spelling "fixes". But because you edited my entry while I was working on it, I almost lost all of my work. You aren't helping when you do that.RomanHistorian (talk) 05:21, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
My pleasure
It was an unfortunate misunderstanding, but I think it's cleared up now. Please don't hesitate to ask me if you ever need help with anything in the future. Cheers, Sarcasticidealist (talk) 05:30, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Wikipedia Space Edits
After taking a look at your statistics, I see have 531 edits, which is pretty good, but only 20 to the Wikipedia namespace. Since you specifically asked about that space, here's what I think about getting edits there. There's Articles for Deletion, Vandal Reports, Unacceptable Username Reports, Reference Desk, and Administrator Noticeboard. Those are all good places to get experience in if you want to gain adminship. You'll want to have a lot of edits in the places that relate to the admin areas you would want to focus on. For example, I wanted to be able to speedy delete articles in CAT:CSD, so I did a lot of work at WP:AFD to show my understanding of deletion policy and I also did newpage monitoring and tagging (however, any mistakes there will especially count against you at RFA, so be careful and don't try to go too fast). If you want to block vandals, report vandals at WP:AIV, give warnings, etc. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask. Useight (talk) 01:44, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

I've actually got a 10-22mm lens so I can help out with taking some photos too. Maybe this weekend assuming weather holds up! Madcoverboy (talk) 18:24, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Response on the DMurawski talk page
Please read my response to your response on the DMurawski talk page, and re-consider your stance on the deletion. I find it very odd that you can create this article about John W. Niddrie, with few sentences and no sources/reasons as to why its noteworthy, and yet someone's detailed article with proof of noteworthiness is considered for deletion. Hmm. 71.193.87.216 (talk) 08:40, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Sure, you can join the translation. I'm not sure where Editorofthewiki is up to, but you can probably safely work on 3.3.1 Gbagbo symbole de l'opposition. Skyplane (talk) 17:15, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
- Try to add the refs from the french article--I'll get to it once I've finished the early political career part. If this keeps up we could be shooting for an FA in a matter of weeks! Editorofthewikireview my edits here! 20:00, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
- I really don't care--it's all up to you. Editorofthewikireview my edits here! 21:56, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Requesting your input at Wikipedia:WikiProject Economics/Featured Article drive
Since you are a member of WikiProject Economics, I would like to direct your attention to Wikipedia:WikiProject Economics/Featured Article drive. We are currently deciding on an economics-related article to bring to Featured Article status and we would like your input. Thanks! Gary King (talk) 20:57, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Requesting an Editor Review
Hi, you opposed my last RFA at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Gary King a few weeks ago. I have decided to open an Editor Review at Wikipedia:Editor review/Gary King so I could receive a new assessment for my recent activity on Wikipedia. I would greatly appreciate it if you could take the time to look over my recent contributions and point out areas where I could improve. Thanks in advance! Gary King (talk) 05:21, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
Northwestern University photos
I've uploaded some of my own photos as well. I just realized that they could have gone on Commons as well (like yours), but I don't know of an easy way to do it nor do I have an account there. In any case, could you tag your photos with "Category:Northwestern University campus" so we can get an authoritative category/list of all the media together? Many thanks! Madcoverboy (talk) 18:43, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
Adam Smith has been chosen as the first article in WikiProject Economics' first Featured Article drive
I am contacting you because you Supported the decision to choose Adam Smith as the first Featured Article that WikiProject Economics would work on. If you can, please help out and make this goal a reality! A discussion on this has begun at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Economics#The Featured Article drive is now closed. Thanks for your time! Warlingham, Surrey
Hi - thanks for your efforts in general, I can see you're a busy person! On the Warlingham, surrey article where you 'corrected' some spelling, please bear in mind Warlingham is in England and here we call an establishment in which jewels are sold, a 'jewellery shop', not a 'jewelry shop'. I have a feeling you have a great respect for the non-harmful customs of others, so please use a UK English dictionary if correcting spellings pertaining to strictly UK subject matter. Thanks again.
