Your draft article, Draft:Rider (Fate/stay night)

Final Destination 3

Hello:

The copy edit of the article Final Destination 3 your requested from the GOCE has been completed. I have found two issues I want to draw to your attention.

Plot

"Several weeks later Kevin tells Wendy about an aircraft explosion and the subsequent deaths of the survivors, believing they might be in a similar situation."

Why would this on its own make him think they may be in a similar situation? Did something else happen? If so it should be added. As it stands now this seems like an odd jump.

Themes

In this section, the first paragraph is a problem. It opens with "Three critical theories about the Final Destination franchise have been discussed in scholarly works." The films refer to the history of horror which is theory one.

But why is this a discussion about the themes in the series? Shouldn’t it only be about the themes in FD3?

Then we have: "Second, the films—particularly The Final Destination (2009) and Final Destination 5 (2011)—have been examined for their visual effects.”

This is not a theory as this is written. This needs to be clarified if you feel the series should be discussed, or specifically linked to FD3

Then we have: "Third, the franchise has been criticized for being cynical and reductive. For example, film studies scholar Reynold Humphries dismisses the franchise as "obscurantist nonsense whose only 'idea' is that death is an agency that has a 'plan' for each of us".

This is not a theory as this is written. It is simply criticism. Same comment as above re FD3.

I would suggest that this whole section be moved to Final Destination which discusses the franchise specifically, after the problems with the first paragraph are fixed.

The Theme(s) section should then be rewritten specifically for this article including only direct references to themes in FD3 in the sources.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Best of luck moving forward with this.

DYK for Power of the Primes

On 15 April 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Power of the Primes, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the figure of Jazz from the Transformers toyline Power of the Primes drew controversy because the text on its sticker, when translated from Cybertronian, spelled the acronym MAGA, associated with Donald Trump? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Power of the Primes. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Power of the Primes), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

WikiCup 2018 May newsletter

The second round of the 2018 WikiCup has now finished. Most contestants who advanced to the next round scored upwards of 100 points, but two with just 10 points managed to scrape through into round 3. Our top scorers in the last round were:

  • Scotland Cas Liber, our winner in 2016, with three featured articles
  • Republic of Texas Iazyges, with nine good articles and lots of bonus points
  • India Yashthepunisher, a first time contestant, with two featured lists
  • Cascadia (independence movement) SounderBruce, a finalist last year, with seventeen good topic articles
  • United States Usernameunique, a first time contestant, with fourteen DYKs
  • San Francisco Muboshgu, a seasoned competitor, with three ITNs and
  • South Carolina Courcelles, another first time contestant, with twenty-seven GARs

So far contestants have achieved twelve featured articles between them and a splendid 124 good articles. Commendably, 326 GARs have been completed during the course of the 2018 WikiCup, so the backlog of articles awaiting GA review has been reduced as a result of contestants' activities. As we enter the third round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed in round 3. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them. When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met; most of the GARs are fine, but a few have been a bit skimpy.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. DYK for The Haunting of Amphipolis

On 5 May 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article The Haunting of Amphipolis, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Xena: Warrior Princess episode "The Haunting of Amphipolis" was changed at the behest of the writers from focusing on a murdered man and his daughter to featuring the demon Mephistopheles? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/The Haunting of Amphipolis. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, The Haunting of Amphipolis), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Draft:List of Nitro+chiral video games, a page you created, has not been edited in 5 months. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Thank you for your attention. HasteurBot (talk) 01:32, 14 May 2018 (UTC)

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 18:03, 25 May 2018 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited The Flash (2016 comic book), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Godspeed (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:23, 30 May 2018 (UTC)

WikiCup 2018 July newsletter

The third round of the 2018 WikiCup has now come to an end. The 16 users who made it to the fourth round had at least 227 points. Our top scorers in round 3 were:

  • South Carolina Courcelles, a first time contestant, with 1756 points, a tally built largely on 27 GAs related to the Olympics
  • Scotland Cas Liber, our winner in 2016, with two featured articles and three GAs on natural history and astronomy topics
  • Cascadia (independence movement) SounderBruce, a finalist last year, with a variety of submissions related to transport in the state of Washington

Contestants managed 7 featured articles, 4 featured lists, 120 good articles, 1 good topic, 124 DYK entries, 15 ITN entries, and 132 good article reviews. Over the course of the competition, contestants have completed 458 GA reviews, in comparison to 244 good articles submitted for review and promoted. As we enter the fourth round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 3 but before the start of round 4 can be claimed in round 4. Please also remember that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them. When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met. Please also remember that all submissions must meet core Wikipedia policies, regardless of the review process; several submissions, particularly in abstruse or technical areas, have needed additional work to make them completely verifiable.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Since you created the draft for season 4 (which I have now brought to the mainspace), would you also be willing to develop season 2's draft? You please just dump the sources, and I'll expand content using them. --Kailash29792 (talk) 11:15, 13 July 2018 (UTC)

@Kailash29792: I'm sorry man. In theory, I'd love to help you with it. I'd say Legends is my favorite Arrowverse show. But right now, I'm just not feeling like working on an article. Has been the case for quite some time. The GLAAD Award for Comics being the one exception, which was easy to make since it wasn't really an article as much as a list. FAC you may be interested in

Hi! I'm gla(a)d to see that GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Comic Book reached FL status. Since you seem to be interested in LGBT media, I thought you might be interested in an article I've nominated for FA, "San Junipero". If you've not heard of it, it's an episode of Netflix's Black Mirror, and a love story about two women.

The FAC nomination is here and the article is here, but I'd recommend that you don't read the article before watching the episode if you think you'd be interested in it, because reading the plot might spoil the experience of watching. Also, if you're not interested or don't have time to review the article, no pressure. You can ignore or delete this message, no hard feelings. Bilorv(c)(talk) 02:30, 23 August 2018 (UTC)

@Bilorv: Funnily enough, even though I don't watch Black Mirror, I have seen "San Junipero". A couple of months ago, my college's Film Club decided to watch a couple episodes of the show and I suggested "San Junipero", cause I'd heard it was good and knew it had won multiple awards. Oh, and de gay shet. I'll look at it within a couple of days. Hopefuly my review will be done in that time too. PanagiotisZois (talk) 16:11, 23 August 2018 (UTC)
Yeah, it's a good show to dip into for a couple of episodes because they're all completely standalone and even though the main theme is unrelenting bleakness, there are a couple of exceptions and a variety of tones. There's almost no-one I wouldn't recommend "San Junipero" to. Thanks for taking a look at it. Again, no pressure and no rush. Bilorv(c)(talk) 17:24, 23 August 2018 (UTC)
(By the way, if you're still interested, the FAC was archived due to inactivity, but I've renominated it here.) Bilorv(c)(talk) 20:46, 6 September 2018 (UTC)

WikiCup 2018 September newsletter

The fourth round of the 2018 WikiCup has now come to an end. The eight users who made it to the final round had to score a minimum of 422 points to qualify, with the top score in the round being 4869 points. The leaders in round 4 were:

  • South Carolina Courcelles scored a magnificent 4869 points, with 92 good articles on Olympics-related themes. Courcelles' bonus points alone exceeded the total score of any of the other contestants!
  • Hel, Poland Kees08 was second with 1155 points, including a high-scoring featured article for Neil Armstrong, two good topics and some Olympics-related good articles.
  • Scotland Cas Liber, with 1066 points, was in third place this round, with two featured articles and a good article, all on natural history topics.
  • Other contestants who qualified for the final round were Marshall Islands Nova Crystallis, Republic of Texas Iazyges, Cascadia (independence movement) SounderBruce, Wales Kosack and United States Ceranthor.

During round four, 6 featured articles and 164 good articles were promoted by WikiCup contestants, 13 articles were included in good topics and 143 good article reviews were performed. There were also 10 "in the news" contributions on the main page and 53 "did you knows". Congratulations to all who participated! It was a generally high-scoring and productive round and I think we can expect a highly competitive finish to the competition.

Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. It would be helpful if this list could be cleared of any items no longer relevant. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck, and let the best editor win!
