On your info on Myles Gaskin, you have his yards per rush in college at 102.4, that’s impossible. You might want to check that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:9001:190D:F300:E4E2:53AF:288B:D562 (talk) 15:56, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
- Fixed it, should have been rushing yards per game. Thanks!

[edit]Many thanks for creating the article on the mathematician! [edit]On 23 July 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Sergei Nikolaevich Chernikov, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that mathematician Sergei Nikolaevich Chernikov already had the first of his five department chairs before defending his DSc in 1940? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Sergei Nikolaevich Chernikov. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Sergei Nikolaevich Chernikov), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. File source problem with File:Arazmadze.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Arazmadze.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.
If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 09:25, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you. The source, as stated twice in the description, is Wikipedia itself (ka.wiki); the image is taken from the article about Razmadze in his native Georgian. [image here]. You would know better than I which category of fair-use that falls under, but it didn't seem clear from the upload page, nor from the pages above. However, if the image is fair-use on ka.wiki, I would assume it is fair-use on en.wiki as well, because "English language pages, are hosted on a server in the United States, so U.S. law governs". I am probably not the only person who will ever have this question, so perhaps an FAQ about using other.wiki images would be helpful? Oceanchaos (talk) 14:38, 25 July 2016 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:Arazmadze.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Arazmadze.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
ATTENTION: This is an automated, BOT-generated message. This bot DID NOT nominate your file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 03:00, 29 July 2016 (UTC)

Giant grouper page update
[edit]Dear Oceanchaos,
I recently found out through a google search that I'm now famous as a journal article I wrote has been cited on Wikipedia! Turns out that it was you. Would just like to say thank you for updating the giant grouper page and an even bigger thank you for reading my journal article. I'm a PhD student and haven't published much at all yet, so it is nice to know that at least someone other than my supervisors and my mum read it haha.
I clicked on your link (obviously) to find out who had made the edit and am very curious about you. We have a lot in common. Would you be averse to me getting in touch via email? I've just made a Wiki account and don't know all the ins and outs of communication between users so hope this is the correct method to open dialogue.
Kind regards, Dave

DYK hook for This Tender Land
[edit]Hey, I wanted to respond to your question here, because typically when a DYK is promoted editors are discouraged from having a conversation on that page. I don't think readers will assume that the book was written in the 1930s, as there are many books that are written recently that take place decades in the past. I typically like shorter hooks because I think they will keep the audience's attention more effectively (with our tik toc generation, short and snappy hooks tend to be better). I don't mind adding the year back in, but I would probably just put it back to where it was. With all of this considered, would you like to have 2019 placed back in the hook? Z1720 (talk) 01:22, 8 August 2022 (UTC)
- I think yes. The phrase "depression-era novel" still reads as ambiguous without context to me. Oceanchaos (talk) 03:03, 8 August 2022 (UTC)
