For Honor
AdrianGamer Look, wiki pages should be about information as accurate as possible, if any media mentions or uses references from any area which exists in real life, then those information should be evaluated because they hold water, for example; in this game they use Vikings as one of their armies, this is not make-believe so if they use facts from history, they should take criticisms if any arises, if you feel like it doesn't apply to this game, then you are acting in a bias way towards the game developers, not only is this wrong, it also misinforms the game's players as to what the Vikings actually looked like (or what history has taught us what they might have looked like) by creating this wiki page, you have made an agreement not to be bias and take evidence where-ever it lays, if you say that this does not apply to the game itself, then add information instead of writing 'Pretentious nitpickery' as this shows blatant disregard to wiki's intentions to publish true information and to the people who want to learn, either stick to wiki rules or you will be reported — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hogyncymru (talk • contribs) 15:24, 17 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Hogyncymru: they should take criticisms if any arises - If there are criticism, this can be added. I don't mind, as long as it is not an independent criticism section, and is talking about the game instead of all these history stuff. But there isn't any. It isn't our responsibility to cover the truth, our responsibility is to cover what the sources says. Verifiability is more important than truth. The "Pretentious nitpickery" heading was not written by me. It was written by an IP. Currently there is no source claiming that there are inaccuracies, and claiming that it has is original research, which is a Wikipedia policy that everyone should follow. AdrianGamer (talk) 16:00, 17 June 2016 (UTC)
@AdrianGamer: they use 'viking' as their source, that's all you need, if they called them something else, then this conversation would not happen, my edits will remain but, because you want things differently, I'll mention more about the connection, i'm sure neither of us want this to go further, so that's the compromise, I hope that will settle our disagreements.
- @Hogyncymru: - No, we need to have sources that say "For Honor has inaccuracies". Without that, everything there is original research. And to be honest, this is a fantasy game. The game's basic premise is absolutely not based on history. Apollyon manipulating the three factions, Vikings attack Samurai and fight with the Knight? I don't know why we need a section to talk about Viking not wearing a helmet. AdrianGamer (talk) 16:11, 17 June 2016 (UTC)
- @AdrianGamer: Hey, I iunderstand where your coming from, 'game equals make-believe', I get that, what I'm conserned about is the use of the name 'Viking', they used a real reference and then twisted it, therefore no longer becomes Viking, that is why I mentioned that there is a difference between game and reality, nobody is saying there is inaccuracies in the gameplay itself, all I'm saying is, there were inaccuracies in the research of what a Viking looks like from an artistic point of view, I'm not taking anything away from the game itself, I'm only pointing out that there is hard evidence to support that this make-believe vision of Vikings has been used for over 150 years and it is this that I'm referring to, please see what I see, I cannot make this any more clear, thanks

Quantum Break
Hello, AdrianGamer, I'm a member of the Guild of Copyeditors Thnidu (talk) 04:33, 15 July 2016 (UTC)
I really did let the page go for a couple of weeks, being very busy with my daughter just back from Asia and going back there soon, but I'm working in finishing it up now.
Got a question for you. From Quantum Break § Release:
- Alan Wake, along with its DLC The Signal and The Writer, as well as American Nightmare, would be available for free for players who purchased the game through backward compatibility.[1]
What the **** is "DLC"? The DAB (disambiguation) page DLC has nothing helpful about it, and the source cited for the statement doesn't mention the abbreviation. --Thnidu (talk) 06:58, 31 July 2016 (UTC)
- @Thnidu: Thank you very much for working on the article. It is actually downloadable content (DLC). The source calls them "add-on packs". AdrianGamer (talk) 07:03, 31 July 2016 (UTC)
- Great, thanks. I'll pipe-link it. --Thnidu (talk) 07:08, 31 July 2016 (UTC)
- AdrianGamer, it is done. Whew! Please check it over, because I don't know the game and am not a video gamer... though I just might be interested in this one! --Thnidu (talk) 08:16, 31 July 2016 (UTC)
- @Thnidu: Thanks! However, the reception section does not seem to be worked on. Would you mind copyediting that section as well? AdrianGamer (talk) 08:29, 31 July 2016 (UTC)
- @AdrianGamer: Not surprising, I was jumping around all over. If I can stay awake (4:30 am local), otherwise when I'm awake again (tomorrow personal :-) ). --Thnidu (talk) 08:31, 31 July 2016 (UTC)
- @AdrianGamer: "The platforming section received mixed reviews."
What's that?--Thnidu (talk) 08:37, 31 July 2016 (UTC) Never mind, I'll link it. 08:46, 31 July 2016 (UTC)
- @AdrianGamer: Computer very slow, have to powercycle it. And myself; finish tomorrow. --Thnidu (talk) 08:57, 31 July 2016 (UTC)

Game genres
I've always written down genres into video game articles from what the sources say, but where should I write the genres as based on gameplay? Lead, infobox or gameplay section, or all? Just to clarify. Cognissonance (talk) 15:14, 4 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Cognissonance: - The genres listed in the infobox should be game genres, stuff like action-adventure game, action role-playing game, racing game, interactive movie etc. It should be based on gameplay, not its theme. Stuff like "neo-noir" and "thriller" should be mentioned in the lead. AdrianGamer (talk) 15:27, 4 August 2016 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Avalanche Studios exterior.jpg
Thank you for uploading File:Avalanche Studios exterior.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:46, 9 August 2016 (UTC)

Open world category
Hi AdrianGamer, just wanted to let you know that the category is out of wack. I've been having an issue with user TheDeviantPro, because I've been double checking to see if the games in the category have sources, and couldn't find any to support Grand Theft Auto and Fallout 2, so I took them out. He's been adding them back stating that they don't need sources because they are open world games. I don't know if he had anything to do with the page getting all out of wack, but I don't know how to fix it. Since you're one of the senior editors here, I came to you to ask how to fix it. Warcraft Film Good Faith Revert
Hello,
I know this is delayed, but I wanted to ask you about my edit that you reverted in July. I'm not really an avid Wiki editor or anything, so please forgive me if I'm going about things the wrong way.
I edited the Warcraft film article to reflect the moviegoer response as well as critical response, and after your revert, I read up on the reasoning why. I think I understand it, but I was hoping you could help answer some questions for me if you have time. It looks like webpages based on primarily UGC are not reliable sources. Is it the entire web page themselves or just the UGC in those webpages? I feel like since the reviews are aggregated by the website, it is a measure of the UGC, and not generated by users. At the very least, I think it's important that despite negativity from the critics, there should be some way to convey that the general population was NOT dissatisfied with the film, no? If we leave only the critical response, it's misleading.
I did realize as well that what I wrote was under a completely incorrect category - public opinion obviously shouldn't be under critical response, but I suppose I wasn't sure if critical meant "professional criticism," or "critiques in general."
Finally, I think another reason why I thought the content and placement was legitimate was because there is an edit in the same section that indicated audience response, and that edit was never removed. It's still there. Why is that edit okay, but mine is not?
Anyhow, I apologize for the long-winded questions, I'm just trying to understand why my edit was reverted, and how I can get these facts across within the rules of Wikipedia. In looking at all the history of edits on this websites, I'm really noticing all the effort folks like you put into making this information source what it is, and I would like to thank you for that.
Looking forward to your response.
- @Cnguyen989: - WP:UGC states that editors should not use any user-submitted data, but the sources that provide user-submitted data can be used, but for other purposes. For example, we can use Metacritic for its metascore, but not its user reviews. We mainly avoid using the UGC in these pages but we do not avoid using these sites, unless they are considered as unreliable sources. User reviews/UGC can be used, but only when they are mentioned by reliable secondary sources. For instance, Deadline.com reported that audience gave the film a B+ rating, then this can be used. Thanks for asking and I hope this helps. AdrianGamer (talk) 13:16, 27 September 2016 (UTC)
- @AdrianGamer: - Thanks for your response and help. Not sure if I'm replying correctly so I just copied the ping prefix. I think everything you said makes sense. So would I be able to cite the Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes ratings through this Forbes article? The article indicates audience scores in its intro.
- @Cnguyen989: - That is correct, but there are special cases. Forbes has something called "contributors", whose articles are considered as user-submitted, and unreliable. In this case, this is a UGC citing a UGC. However, if the author is the official staff from Forbes, then the UGC can be cited. AdrianGamer (talk) 10:49, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
- @AdrianGamer: - I see. It makes much more sense now. Thanks very much for you help and explanation, it is very much appreciated.
Spec Ops: The Line
Hey, since you basically brought Spec Ops: The Line up to GA status, just wanted to let you know that I removed the 4th non-free image from the article (the White Phosphorus picture in the reception section). I wasn't sure if the WP picture or the concept art with the sandstorm-ravaged Dubai should be removed. There's a convincing argument for either side (respectively: spoilers, or redundancy compared to the 2nd image - the one showing Walker shooting out a sand window), but I'd like a second opinion on this. I was also considering taking a new WP screenshot that shows the soldiers, but I think you might have had a rationale behind omitting that. (There's another option as well - we could add the sandstorm description to the 2nd image and add the WP picture back.) Liar's Lair (talk) 21:47, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
- @Liar's Lair: - Adding the sandstorm description to the 2nd image and adding the WP picture back seem to the best option in my opinion. AdrianGamer (talk) 14:27, 2 October 2016 (UTC)
- Aight, thanks for the feedback. I'll try to implement that when I have the chance to. Liar's Lair (talk) 04:21, 3 October 2016 (UTC)

Hi AdrianGamer, you closed a Peer Review on this article because it was, according to you, currently in a GA review. You were mistaken. I had opened up the GAN page, but only to tell reviewers not to start reviewing it because I was ordering a source to add to the article. I kept the article listed in GAN due to the long wait times, which meant that had I done nothing the article would likely not have been reviewed by the time I received my source.
Currently, the article is neither going through a Peer Review or a GAN, and has been through neither throughout the article's existence. I would therefore ask for the Peer Review request to be reinstated.
Thank you, Coin945.--Coin945 (talk) 08:25, 31 October 2016 (UTC)
- Sorry for my late response. It seems that your source has arrived already, so I don't think I need to reopen the PR. To be honest, instead of leaving the article in the GA queue, the most ideal way is to withdraw your GAN when your article is not truly ready. AdrianGamer (talk) 12:32, 3 November 2016 (UTC)

New Page Review needs your help
Hi OceanHok,
As an AfC reviewer you're probably aware that a new user right has been created for patrolling new pages (you might even have been granted the right already, and admins have it automatically).
Since July there has been a very serious backlog at Special:NewPagesFeed of over 14,000 pages, by far the worst since 2011, and we need an all out drive to get this back down to just a few hundred that can be easily maintained in the future. Unlike AfC, these pages are already in mainspace, and the thought of what might be there is quite scary. There are also many good faith article creators who need a simple, gentle push to the Tea House or their pages converted to Draft rather than being deleted.
Although New Page Reviewing can occasionally be somewhat more challenging than AfC, the criteria for obtaining the right are roughly the same. The Page Curation tool is even easier to use than the Helper Script, so it's likely that most AfC reviewers already have more than enough knowledge for the task of New Page Review.
It is hoped that AfC reviewers will apply for this right at WP:PERM and lend a hand. You'll need to have read the page at WP:NPR and the new tutorial.
