Your edits to Expand language templates are incorrectly removing the page name in the other language

Saw a couple of these pop up on my watchlist (this and this). Note that after your edits, the text of Template:Expand reads A model attribution edit summary is Content in this edit is translated from the existing Chinese Wikipedia article at [[:zh:]]; see its history for attribution. You should also add the template {{Translated page}} to the talk page., where the intended output is more along the lines of A model attribution edit summary is Content in this edit is translated from the existing Chinese Wikipedia article at [[:zh:周悼王]]; see its history for attribution. You should also add the template {{Translated|zh|周悼王}} to the talk page.

I see you've made quite a number of this kind of edit, which makes it unclear how any editors performing the suggested translation are supposed to include the required attribution.

Can you kindly go back over your recent edits to this template so as to restore the deleted page name, while retaining the topics you added? Folly Mox (talk) 08:08, 4 March 2022 (UTC)

I just made an edit request at Template:Expand language that would automatically fix this problem. --Numberguy6 (talk) 18:17, 4 March 2022 (UTC)

Request on 11:41:42, 23 March 2022 for assistance on AfC submission by DCLawwyer

{{SAFESUBST:Void|

Dear Numberguy6

You declined https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Theo_Alc%C3%A1ntara Your reason was "Written like a résumé/CV." You referred me to 'What Wikipedia is not'

1. There is no "What Wikipedia is not" that supports "résumé/CV" as a ground for refusal. Are you enforcing a Wikirule or a personal preference? (I deal a lot with a federal agency where a lot of decisions are made on personal preference, rather than the law, and my whole career is about pulling those decisions back and getting them re-made on proper legal grounds -- I'm pretty sensitive to that.)

2. The closest item in What Wikipedia is not is "Wikipedia is not a means of promotion." Promotion is about the future. Biography is about the past. "Promotion" is "If you need a conductor in the future, then call Theo out of retirement." The article is just historical facts. Historical facts are not "promotion." Or rather, any definition of the word "promotion" that embraces a catalog of the notable historical accomplishments of a person is not a useful definition of "promotion" and conflicts with the requirement of "notability."

3. Whatever standard you're applying, are you applying it in a rational, context-sensitive way? Mr Alcántara is an orchestra/opera conductor. For most conductors, life is a series of one-night gigs, hoping to get lucky and land one of the few permanent appointments with a single orchestra. A 35-year career of permanent appointments is a real rarity! It's that series of appointments and one-night gigs that any reader of this article cares about. It's the orchestras/operas he's been invited to conduct and record that makes him notable.

4. This is standard biographical dictionary entry for a musician. Back in the days of print, Nicolas Slonimsky's Baker's_Biographical_Dictionary_of_Musicians was a standard work. Its entry for Mr Alcántara is here [1] If that's the standard biographical entry form for the standard biographical compilation, why would it be inappropriate for Wikipedia?

5. A blanket rejection is not a helpful response on your part. How does it get fixed? No one reacts well to "no" but anyone will be grateful for "Here's a suggestion for what you do next." (And I suspect that if you thought about what to do next, you'd convince yourself that there is no notable "next step" except to accept the article.)

Thank you

Your recent spate of GA nominations

Numberguy6, we appreciate your interest in nominating articles to be GAs. However, if you wish to nominate articles that you have not made significant contributions to, the GA nomination instructions say you need to consult regular editors of the article on the article talk page prior to a nomination, something you have not done. There is something of a consultation going on with your nomination of Iceland, though it would be worthwhile to broaden the discussion to see whether the regular editors feel there are other areas of the article beyond the templates you dealt with that need work to meet the GA criteria.

You will note that all of your overnight nominations were reverted; in this case, the editor who did so said they were far from ready. Indeed, looking at Hekla, I can see that large sections of the article are completely unsourced, which is basic: the nomination would be quickfailed for verifiability issues. Note that doing so would take a volunteer reviewer's time, and means that another article that is better prepared has to wait that much longer to be reviewed.

Before you do any further nominations, I'd like to suggest that you better familiarize yourself with GA criteria and how they apply so you can better assess the condition of articles you're interested in nominating, and go through the Iceland review so you know what's involved as a nominator addressing issues raised in the course of a review. (Nominating is a commitment to make the necessary improvements raised by a reviewer as part of the GA review.) Best of luck. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:16, 29 March 2022 (UTC)

@BlueMoonset: @2001:4455:30B:6C00:195B:B2A6:FCD5:EEDF: I specifically checked all of the articles to make sure they didn't have any maintenance tags. If the articles need maintenance tags, can you or someone else go and add them? Numberguy6 (talk) 16:14, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
Numberguy6, it's not about maintenance tags. A great many articles on Wikipedia do not meet the GA criteria or even come close, not just those with maintenance tags, but no one has gone through them all to see what maintenance tags are needed, or what sections need better (or any) sourcing, or ought to be expanded, or whatever. Sometimes there isn't any maintenance to be done, but a significant expansion is needed in order to meet the "Broad in its coverage" criterion. If you're truly interested in nominating those articles and shepherding them through the GA process, you need to do those talk-page consultations first. BlueMoonset (talk) 23:28, 29 March 2022 (UTC)

Request on 00:23:32, 6 April 2022 for assistance on AfC submission by KennyGOf Aus

Dear Numberguy6, Thanks for your review but I need guidance about whether the page will ever be published regardless of any changes I make. I ask because AppO sits at the junction of a number of corporate/government processes and systems, and we believe it to be the only tool thus far that effectively ties them together in a pragmatic approach. In other words, in these matters, we are breaking new ground. To explain how I prepared the article, I found an article on Wikipedia at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decision-making_software I thought this page was out of date so I wanted to include AppO, which meant I needed to edit it but I noted that the other software listed had links to other Wikipedia articles about that software, which caused me to create the article in question so that I had something to link to. The first software mentioned on the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decision-making_software page is 1000Minds with a link to an article on their product at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1000minds This was the article I styled mine from. I actually think this is a very good product in its market niche, but NOT in business transformation where AppO sits. I could basically duplicate that page (with links to 89 articles, very many of them insignificant and not referring to directly applicable substantial research in the University of NSW that does not support their product/argument) but change the name then add the bits that make our software different but again, We have moved on from that offering, which was developed 20 years ago, and consider ours to be more advanced with a very different approach. We believe AppO to be the first product that strongly supports Strategy Development (no article on Wikipedia) and aligns it with Strategy Delivery, otherwise known as Project Portfolio Management (Part of an article on Strategic Management on Wikipedia) and then bridges those to operations (Operations Management is an article on Wikipedia). BTW, the misalignment of strategy development and strategy delivery costs business and government around $2.3 Trillion per annum (roughly the GDP of Brazil). We are the first to link strategic drivers at the top level all the way down the value measure hierarchy to production statistics, including planned program benefits (known as Benefits Realisation Management on Wikipedia). These value measures include all of KRAs, KPIs, CSFs and Balanced Scorecard (all have articles on Wikipedia). We are the first to attempt automatic inference of likely consensus among stakeholders with differing views of what exactly constitutes business value and also the first to attempt to identify, in detail, where stakeholders will need to compromise to come to agreement on their portfolio of business transformation (there is an article on Business Transformation on Wikipedia but I would suggest that it is not only externally driven since Strategy Management is an internal process albeit it does consider external drivers). We are not the first (second actually and developed entirely in isolation) to be able to consider the views of external stakeholders (customers, investors, third-party experts etc.) on what is of value and enables the organisation to understand where changes might have to be made to ensure success of any and all transformation initiatives. We are definitely the first to focus on providing corporate and government a pragmatic tool to enable consideration of matters like the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (Articles on Wikipedia) or The World Business Council for Sustainable Development's Greenhouse Gas Reporting Protocol in evaluating a project portfolio. This means we are the first to be able to ensure "Greenwashing" does not occur. Since nearly all developed countries ascribe a fiduciary duty to Directors to protect shareholder value and there is now a proven inextricable link between accurate sustainability reporting and share price we are the first to be able to protect the directors in their decision-making. The other benefits to an organisation arising from our software in this regard include boosted customer and employee engagement, attraction and retention of talent, improved social licence, reduced operational risk and, increasingly, enhanced investment return. We are the first decision-making software to provide a likely 100% fit to corporate and government governance and gating processes (there is an article on Wikipedia called Corporate Governance but it does not describe the context of governing transformation activities, we need to look at the article on I.T. Governance for that so a more general article is needed) thereby significantly strengthening and supporting the business cases arising from it (article on Wikipedia on Business Cases covers the context but not the governance and gating processes and erroneously talks about considering only cost and benefit in $ terms). In my view things have moved on quite a long way from where it seems nearly all of the current articles are that touch these subjects on Wikipedia. Thus I am asking, if we are the first to develop such an encompassing solution, with a number of unique inventions (Revolutionary vs Evolutionary) and we do not want to disclose any of our I.P how can I include references to material located outside Wikipedia without referring to our own material and how can I write an article styled on another that does not sound like an ad to people who are not specialists in Business Transformation please? I am not trying to be difficult, I am honestly asking because you may not have noted that I tried very hard to avoid any opinions, just offering fact. Also, my apologies, I have my head stuck in detail and I can be a bit of a pedant at times like these AND I have absolutely no background in writing articles for an encyclopedia. I also have no real skills at sales or marketing so that may be why I have accidentally created an ad. BTW The article on Decision Making Software does not include Transparent Choice from the UK (very capable, aimed at Project Management Offices) OR Perfect Choice from the U.S. (also very capable, aimed at general decision-making and part owned by Thomas Saaty the mathematician that developed the Analytic Hierarchy process, one of only two that are considered appropriate to develop project portfolios). Collectively, in my view, Transparent Choice, Perfect Choice, 1000Minds and AppO are the only viable alternatives for commercial, highly complex decision-making. The others mentioned on that page, by and large, are academic solutions arising directly from Decision Science at various universities and almost all have a narrow solution focus. In this context 1000Minds is the only competitive and truly capable decision-making software listed on the page. In my view this article needs a really thorough review but probably not by any of the stakeholders in Transparent Choice, Perfect Choice, 1000Minds OR AppO. Please, can you help me in any way? Cheers Ken

Request on 15:32:35, 19 April 2022 for assistance on AfC submission by Quinnbe

Hey, my entry for the G2 Ops page was recently rejected for reading more like an advertisement than a neutral article. I understand it was very positive, but I took almost all the information about the company available on the internet from neutral and reliable sources. I am not sure how I can make it sound less like an advertisement. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. I believe their multi-million dollar status and recognition in the defense industry should make them notable enough for a short page.

Hello Numberguy6, I am inquiring about how to make our submission acceptable for AmeriSave Mortgage Corporation (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:AmeriSave_Mortgage_Corporation).

It has been recently rejected by you (and previously) for sounding too advertising-like and not containing reliable sources. The last submission was drastically cut down and edited from a prior version and all sources cited are third-party links so we felt we had addressed the issues originally presented.

Can you please provide some specific guidance or examples in our submission on how to remedy this so that it is acceptable? We've been trying to get this published since last year.

Thank in advance for any specific insights you can provide.

Your recent article submission has been rejected. If you have further questions, you can ask at the Articles for creation help desk or use Wikipedia's real-time chat help. The reason left by Imzadi1979 was: This topic is not sufficiently notable for inclusion in Wikipedia. The comment the reviewer left was: Do we really need one article of this sort on every state in the union? Can't we start with a national article and see what needs to be split out per WP:SIZE concerns in line with our preference for WP:SS?

Notice

The article 2010 in Hungary has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:NOTDIRECTORY

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
