Where to put a nomination
Hello, at Wikipedia:Today's articles for improvement/Nominations I put Criminal transmission of HIV in society and social issues. It's in WikiProjects Crime, Medicine and Law. Would you say this is the most appropriate section? Thanks, Rubbish computer 17:20, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Rubbish computer: It's a social issue, so sure, that works. North America1000 22:33, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
Thanks. Rubbish computer 23:11, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
Thanks!
Hey! Thanks for reminding me with that one, I didn't actually know it has that rule, however, may I otherwise, like for example, can I modify a version of the original text from other sources? Will it still be validated as a copyright to add or exclude more facts for the texts? Like the car wash's history dated back to 1946, and under that is full of facts, but I changed some of it, and mixed it with other more infos, will it still be a copyrighted text? Thanks for the reminder by the way. CryOceD (talk) 06:59, 26 May 2015 (UTC)
- Hello CryOCed. I recommend that you please read Wikipedia:Plagiarism, WP:COPYVIO and WP:PARAPHRASE in entirety, which will answer most of your questions. Essentially, Wikipedia content needs to be written in one's own words, with inline citations to the sources used. North America1000 07:14, 26 May 2015 (UTC)
- I'm on it North America! Thanks. CryOceD (talk) 15:30, 26 May 2015 (UTC)
- Wait, I managed to make it in time again, but I am using my own words for this, I used a few words with the same meaning as of the old history, would you please give your compliment, if this is eligible on the Car Wash's history? Check it out in my sandbox. (My Sandbox). CryOceD (talk) 15:30, 26 May 2015 (UTC)
- CryOCed: As per this comparison using Earwig's Copyvio Detector, the version at your sandbox is acceptable, in my opinion. North America1000 16:39, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
- @North America So can I add it back? I'll add the 3 references I got from that research. CryOceD (talk) 16:43, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

New Category request
They are taking so much time to review this. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_creation/Redirects#Category_request:_Category:Bengali_fictional_characters
I don't know whether it will be accepted or rejected. Can you take a look?C E (talk) 10:47, 30 May 2015 (UTC)
- @CosmicEmperor: Accepted – I have approved your submission, which is located at Category:Fictional Bengali characters. The new category has been titled as such per precedent of category titling at Category:Fictional characters by ethnicity or nationality. Upon a review, I have added most of your listed suggestions at the nomination page to the category. I have not added the following articles from the list, because these articles are about works, rather than characters.

Problem with types of chocolate
184.149.168.84 deleted the entire Japan section and I don't know how to get this back without reverting loads of edits. This is in the revision history. Rubbish computer 16:17, 27 May 2015 (UTC) I've got it back through copying and pasting so never mind. Rubbish computer 16:21, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
Actually the section now needs some cleanup. Rubbish computer 16:24, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Rubbish computer: Fixed. I have restored the Japan section content from this version of the Types of chocolate article. The content is now properly formatted in the article. North America1000 17:03, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
Car wash copyvio
Hi Northamerica, Copyvio cleanup is not my area, so I was wondering if you could help with this. If not, do you know somebody who might have a free hand to help? I know you do a lot, so I don't want to burden you with anything extra. I think the edits were in good faith made by a new editor. Thank you! --Bananasoldier (talk) 03:46, 26 May 2015 (UTC)
- Bananasoldier: Cleaned. Copyright violations in Car wash have been removed. Of note is that upon further inspection, this Earwig's copyvio search denotes another initial potential copyvio with http://www.transformia.info/pages/seminar_reports/2_automatic_car_washing_system.pdf, but upon further inspection, the transformia.info appears to use information copied from the Wikipedia article. The content in question was in the article prior to the content at transformia.info being published in May 2010 (e.g. [13]).
- For future reference, such requests for editors to investigate potential copyvio problems can be posted at Wikipedia:Copyright problems. North America1000 07:04, 26 May 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you! --Bananasoldier (talk) 14:02, 26 May 2015 (UTC)

Portal
Hmmm. We have about 3000+ articles tagged by WikiProject Equine (WPEQ). The portal is included on the wikiproject tag at each talk page and we also have it in the {{Equine}} navbox. Generally it's not been included in the articles otherwise. Not opposed to the concept, but trying to figure out if there is a way to do so consistently and elegantly... Montanabw(talk) 20:46, 21 May 2015 (UTC)
- Montanabw: An improvement would be to include the image in the Equine navbox that's used in {{portal|Horses}} portal link (right), to make it more noticeable. It presently has the generic portal puzzle image. It may not be noticed there much, due to the tiny point size and generic image. Regarding using the portal link box on article pages, I'm for it because this informs users about an area to read related articles and attain new knowledge, improves traffic at the Horses portal and brings its existence to people's attention. Of note is that people often don't view talk pages, so they may never learn about the portal without it being present on article pages. For example, compare the page views for Mustang in April 2015:
- Mustang article: 13118 views
- Mustang talk page: 545 views
- – North America1000 15:33, 23 May 2015 (UTC)
- I thought the portal link DID have the Finnhorse image - certainly welcome to add it as needed! Or else the horse head we use for the userbox, {{User WikiProject Equine}}. I think you can just boldly add one or the other and no one will kick! I see your point about the portal on the article image, but we do have over 3,000 articles tagged for the project (and over 9000 for Wikiproject horse racing, which also has a portal, though not as good of one and not maintained.) The equine navbox is not in every WPEQ article, not sure... maybe post the idea at the WPEQ talk and see if anyone has ideas. I'm open to adding, but I think discussion would be good first. Montanabw(talk) 00:56, 24 May 2015 (UTC)
- Montanabw: I added content below to the {{Equine}} navbox. The Finnhorse image stands out much more than the horse head image at this small size. North America1000 09:06, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

Relisting of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Shirlee Smith
As the nominator, I would like to see it go for at least another week to get a consensus and allow any users to comment. SwisterTwister talk 16:24, 1 June 2015 (UTC)
- @SwisterTwister: Per WP:RELIST, "Relisting debates repeatedly in the hope of getting sufficient participation is not recommended, and while having a deletion notice on a page is not harmful, its presence over several weeks can become disheartening for its editors. Therefore, in general, debates should not be relisted more than twice." However, per your request here and in the interest of a hopeful consensus being reached at the discussion, I have undone the no consensus closure and relisted the discussion for a third time at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2015 June 3. North America1000 00:14, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
- N.b. After the third relisting, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Shirlee Smith was closed by another administrator as no consensus. North America1000 07:38, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

- My question is, is the name of the town Muara Bungo or Pasar Muara Bungo? Also, there is an image of the town on the Indonesian Wikipedia that can be copied to Commons and used on the article. ~EDDY (talk/contribs)~ 18:56, 5 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Editorofthewiki: Initially, it appeared that a page move to Pasar Muara Bungo was in order, which I performed. However, I made a mistake, because the three articles in other Wikipedia languages state (after using translation) that Pasar Muara Bungo is a district or sub-district of Bungo ([14], [15], [16].) As such, it appears that Bungo is the name being used for Muara Bungo. Also, most of the sources use the name Muara Bungo. North America1000 02:55, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
