Hi Nohansen. I understand you adressed all the pointsfrom Squillibob regarding the Prose and context ofThe Big O. Would you mind replying in detail? What I usually do for thesethings is that I put an answer in bold at the end of each bullet, explaining what I did, or why I think the request is inappropriate. This way it makes it much more easy to check for the reviewer. See the GA nom in talk:Serial Experiments Lain for an example. Thanks!--SidiLemine 10:44, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
- Hi there! Just letting you know that I passed The Big O. Congratulations on the great work! Do you intend to push it to FAC, or do you have another GAC in mind? I am starting to push NGE to GAC, in case you don't know what to do next ;)! --SidiLemine 16:51, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned fair use image (Image:Good Guys Wear Black.JPG)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Good Guys Wear Black.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Dear Nohansen,
You may not remember sending me a message, probably because it was over 2 months ago, but you said thanks for the info about The Big O, even though you deleted it because it didn't go well with the article and was too much without a spoiler warning, and that you thought I might help any pages here about The Big O. I am extremely sorry I didn't send anything sooner. I didn't even know that we, as users, could receive messages through wikipedia. I'm not very good with wikipedia, so it might take me a while to get used to it all. Hope to hear from you again, and I'll be happy to lend anything I know to help out. :) Andymauldin
License tagging for Image:Giant Robo - The Animation.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Giant Robo - The Animation.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 21:08, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
Musical Allusions in The Big O
[edit]Hi there Nohansen. I think we can move forward on adding a piece about musical allusions in the show. Give me a few days to put together a draft or two, using that quote you provided. Cheers. Kelvingreen 21:49, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:Dorothywayneright.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Dorothywayneright.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:03, 2 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 12:03, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Dorothywayneright.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Dorothywayneright.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 12:03, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Outlaw Star
[edit]Can you please not just go around deleting whole sections of articles without consulting anyone? You deleted such things as the link to the episodes page among other sections that I've had to restore. Not to mention there was no reason to duplicate information from the characters page into the main article as that's what the separate article was created for. Next time you feel that such major changes need to be made to an article please use the discussion page first before you just up and completely start gutting the article.
Phoenix 2772
[edit]I appreciate the enthusiasm, and I understand some of your points. However, some of the changes seemed to be a bit too extreme and also detract from the main theme of what's going on. Furthermore you are also making the changes without checking to see if they would be agreeable to the people who care about these pages since you are subtracting information instead of just adding.
And I disagree, I believe the Animanga Infobox IS necessary if it is to comply with the standards for the Wikiproject Anime and Manga. It can be both Film AND Animanga. I went to the trouble of uploading separate VHS boxes to help illustrate and define the uniqueness between the two. Allowing them BOTH a chance to exist. As for what you did to Metropolis, I WILL be undoing that.
Also, List of Osamu Tezuka anime is [i]NOT[/i] a clone of [Category:Osamu Tezuka anime]. The List is a comprehensive "one stop shop" if you will of all of his work, even the ones that haven't had pages built yet, something [Category:Osamu Tezuka anime] can't provide. If you want to move links about Tezuka to his page, that's fine by me, but at least explain that as the reasoning for why you are moving them.
Lastly, I noticed that there are others who are unhappy with what you have done on other anime themed pages. While your enthusiasm is nice, I think it'd be better to confirm with some of the people who invest a lot of time on these pages about what you WANT to change BEFORE you actually make them. You can easily submit requests on the Discussion page. Also, if you want to add something, go ahead, but moving and removing things is something I think asking permission for first would be better.
Once again, I appreciate the help, but please ask before removing things next time. Thank you.
OtakuMan 23:50, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
You are NOT part of the Osamu Tezuka anime category!
[edit]Alright, I just noticed you have added the "Osamu Tezuka anime" category to the bottom of your page. That is reserved for ARTICLES of or about Osamu Tezuka anime. It is NOT for people who are contributing as you are NOT about Tezuka anime NOR a Tezuka anime yourself.
Please remove that immediately. Thank you. I would hate to complain to an administrator about that.
OtakuMan 23:53, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
Reply to Re:
[edit]- Okay, I can see that your User Page isn't in [Category:Osamu Tezuka anime], but your discussion page is! Please remove it. I dunno if it got added by accident or what, but please take remove it as only the person whose User Page it is can remove something like that.
- Alright, I owe you an apology on that one in that you weren't the one who made that change. However, upon reviewing that page, I STILL undid that change as I felt it was uncalled for.
- And yes, I do expect other people to edit it within reason. The problem is that your edits aren't really within reason at all! It's the same problem with the Outlaw Star page!
Now then, I'm going to get back to working on the Phoenix 2772 page soon.
OtakuMan 13:45, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, I'm going to drop the whole thing with Outlaw Star, but I still hold up that I disagree with your take on the Phoenix 2772 and Metropolis pages. I think that what was removed is important considering that these works fall under the WikiProject Anime and Manga, and also fall under the current template being used for handling everything under [Category:Osamu Tezuka] which is the ultimate project goal.
- However, I can't see how I could have added you to the Osamu Tezuka Category since I shouldn't even have that capability as I'm editing your User Talk page to add a new message. Only the specific User of said User Talk page can remove it. I can't, and I've tried too.
- So let's bury the hatchet and just let it go.
- OHHHHH, NOW I see how it's getting added. Man, that is crazy! Removing engaged!
Thank you for shortening the Grendaizer article by removing redundant information! Kouban 04:03, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
White Wing
[edit]I see you PRODed Iuppitr and it was one of a number "comics" added as part of the White Wing publisher. That was deleted a while back but this entry (and others [1]) have hung around for a bit. I have tagged them all with notability tags a few months ago and nothing seems to have come of it (hit and run adding of promotional/hoax material? We never did get to the bottom of it) so PRODing does seem the right way forward. Anyway just a quick FYI and I'll see how those goes and then look at the others again. (Emperor 16:14, 1 September 2007 (UTC))
Heya. When a prod is removed, it shouldn't be put back up. No reason needs to be given to remove a prod. Instead, send it over to AfD. I've already done that, feel free to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dagekimaru|weigh in]]. --UsaSatsui 20:39, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit]I read your changes, and although I see why you removed the categories of powers (he is a fictional robot with such inborn abilities) I'm curious as to why you removed the maintenance tags, the additional external links, as well reworded the first few paragraphs. So, can you explain? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 02:20, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Category:Rape anime and manga
[edit]I've nominated Category:Rape anime and manga for deletion at your request. The CfD process isn't actually hard in normal cases, by the way. All you have to do is put on the category page, and then there's a line that will appear at the bottom of the template telling you what to do next, which is a simple copy-paste job. It only looks complicated on the directions because they also have to cover other situations like mass nominations. --tjstrf talk 05:12, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Black Jack (character), and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://anime.fansub.tv/encyclopedia-article.php/Black_Jack_(manga)/Summary. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 00:58, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

As in "AnimenFo enciclopedia" right?
[edit]- Per WP:EL, "avoid linking to a website that you represent [...] please consider mentioning it on the talk page and let independent editors decide whether towhether to add it.
Sure, the same editors who link to AnimenFo and even call that an enciclopedia when most titles don't list even a director or just name a couple of main characters, not to mention mission/non english reviews (just being annoying, don't kill me).
I rather not try, since Anime editors at Wikipedia are too biased towars sites they like (at AnimenFo speed del talk someone even mentions "I don't know it, so delete". ... great argument!)
In a final note, for future references use "avoid linking to fansites" or "avoid linking to insignificant sites" as one would think that WP:EL mentions site ownership, and that is not true ;)

Thanks for helping shape up my fledgling article! Do I take it you're planning another article on Kamui Shirō, as you made that a direct link (instead of List of X characters#Kamui Shiro)? Dave-ros 20:29, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Alright, can you cite where they say that in the project? Because otherwise the page needs to be moved. And I know how to move a page, but what you obviously don't know is that you can't move a page to a redirect, the redirect has to be deleted. List of Blood+ characters, List of InuYasha characters, and even List of Astro Boy characters are all in this format, as such your claim is void, I will though put List of The Big O characters up for speedy deletion so that we can move the history. -Sox207 19:24, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for saying that those pages exist. I looked at this page and there were no links to the articles, so I figured that we weren't doing that for The Big O. Could you keep the pictures on the character page temporarily until we can move them to the episode pages? I don't want them deleted as "unused". -The Big X 22:33, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- What would you say about this? -The Big X 02:32, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
Whatever I guess its fine, it actually looks really good. Do we really need the new category or should we just put them in Category:The Big O and categorize them like:
|Act:01
? -The Big X 23:41, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
Done. The category is made and in the correct categories itself, every episode page that exists is categorized, etc. Also did you see what I have been doing for the past hour on Category:Screenshots of The Big O? The CAT was sort of abandoned, but I went to every single image used for The Big O and categorized them. Though there are CD covers, DVD covers, and book covers in the mix, I will keep them there until we can move the category to something like Category:The Big O media.
Also from earlier... I guess we are both control freaks, and both driving each other crazy, but what matters is that we keep our cool and are still keeping our cool, and that is what editing is all about! -The Big X 23:54, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Champion RED
[edit]According to many online stores, including Amazon Japan, the magazine is a seinen manga magazine, but these sites are not always right. Though the magazine has manga with an adult content (this might be the reason why so many online stores mention it as a seinen manga magazine), but according to Akita Shoten (the publisher of Champion RED), Champion RED's manga are shounen manga.
Go to Akita Shoten's site, and go to the publication search page: http://www.akitashoten.co.jp/search/index.html then go to search by title (click second option), enter for example any manga that was serialized in Champion RED that has some volumes released, lets take for example Princess Tutu, enter these プリンセスチュチュ in the textbox, and choose: "dansei muke comics" = "comics for men" from the combobox, and search... you'll find nothing. again the same thing but choose from the combobox: "shounen muke comics" = "comics for boys", and search... success you found the Princess Tutu manga volumes.
Any manga that comes from Champion RED and its sister magazine Champion RED Ichigo, you'll be able to find under "shounen muke comics" in Akita Shoten's publication search.
When Akita Shoten puts Champion RED's manga under "dansei muke comics", I'll start calling the magazine a seinen manga magazine, but for now I'll stick with what the publisher has on its site. --ChuChu (talk) 19:18, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

- Because it was unnecessary. It was sourcing something that didn't needed sourcing ("Hellsing is a Japanese animated television series produced by Gonzo"). Those are cold, hard facts. Furthermore, it was a dead link.--Nohansen (talk) 04:05, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Edit to Samurai Champloo page
[edit]Nohansen,
Thanks for your contribution to the article, Samurai Champloo. I was working on it for a while but went on a bit of a wiki-hiatus recently. I'm finding that it happens a lot that users change the demographic field to suit the category they think a manga/show/movie belongs in. It's much more consistent, rather, to stipulate that the demographic is that which has been denoted by the producer of the work -- publisher for manga, studio/production company for anime. Further, I hadn't much thought of the fact that, historically, only mangas have been broken down into these taxonomical categories by their producers. (I was reminded after reading the thread you linked to in your edit summary.) Thus, designating a demographic for an anime -- however true you may know it to be -- is likely to be your own opinion (i.e. original research) and, in any event, is asking for lots of conflict over of what the right demographic for a particular anime is.
Needless to say, many users have been trying to change the demographic field in the Champloo article to seinen from shonen. Originally, the demographic field in the infobox was in the top of the box, indicating that it meant the demographic of the original work of which the article was primarily intended. So, for a while, we allowed both shonen and seinen to stay up there -- shonen because of the shonen mag in which the manga is serialized and seinen because of a dispute over whether the show was "intended" for younger audiences or not. Personally, I like consistency so I was against eliminating the shonen altogether, an action that some users boldly suggested because they, thinking of Naruto and One Piece, didn't believe there was anything remotely similar or shonen-like about the show (which, technically, is the focus of the article--not the manga). Well, in any event, I'm glad that demo field has been moved down to the manga part of the infobox and that someone caught the double labeling. Sorry to be so long winded. Please do contribute again to the article if you have the time and inclination! Cheers! ask123 (talk) 03:07, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Re: Elfen Lied
[edit]Hello, I replied to your proposal of splitting the article on a talk page. To be honest, I don't think it's a good idea, as:
- I can't find enough information for the anime alone, not even the manga.
- The manga hasn't been released in English.
- The story is almost exactly the same as the anime with a few minor tweaks.
- How many references are we gonna find (in English) to put citations in if no-one who doesn't speak Japanese can understand them?
- Most importantly, I'm seeking the help of Juhachi and trying to turn the article as well as the list of episodes into an FA or at least an A-class, and depriving it of more information won't help.
Along the lines of that, I ask, could you help me in adding/revamping the article so we can nominate it for Peer Review/FA? ætərnal ðrAعon 10:46, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
I just found out about WP:R2D (can't edit the redirect for some reason in the software). And about the new cat, did you nail every article? Also, why use "Chanbara" over "Chambara"? Please reply on your talk page. Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 17:24, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- No, I don't think that's all of them. I just categorized the ones I remembered off the top of my head. Others I can think of are Lady Snowblood and Ninja Resurrection.
- I chose "Chanbara" over "Chambara" because it seems to be the convention when it comes to the romanization of Japanese in Wikipedia: "senpai" instead of "sempai"; "Tenpō" instead of "Tempō". Personally, I prefer "Chambara".--Nohansen (talk) 17:36, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Please see discussion in Lady Snowblood. I have matched the Manual of Style with the relevant information. Appreciate your input to improve the article. I agree with the new graphic novel table format but hit "undo" and can't restore with affecting the changes I've done. Please put in the table for the volume again. Thanks! Are the genres and categories there about right? For instance, is it not a wierd west? And I can't figure out which came first, the anime or manga. Please reply below, Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 04:53, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
- The anime came first. The current categories (and genres) appear correct. As for my recent addiction of Category:Western anime and manga to Cowboy Bebop, see the definition I wrote at the category's page. My intent is to include all varieties of "Western animanga" (Weird, Space, Scifi, and all in between) in the category until the time comes when we'll need to refine it further.--Nohansen (talk) 04:59, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I thought the anime was first. Would it still make sense to include Category:1998 works? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 05:12, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
- I guess. But actually, there are two manga series: one started 1997, the other in 1998. That would mean including Category:1997 works, too.
- To avoid cluttering articles with categories regarding various installments of a franchise, I proposed categorizing the redirects. Three editors agreed, no one objected. For examples of this, see my edit in X (manga) and X (TV series); and Doceirias's edit in Spice and Wolf and Spice and Wolf: Holo's and My One Year.--Nohansen (talk) 05:27, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
- Then the manga was first? BTW, is this correct? If so, the category needs to be updated. Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 06:09, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
- It seems a manga adaptation was published before the anime premiered, yes (I didn't realize that). Both manga were published in Asuka Fantasy DX, so they're both "shōjo".--Nohansen (talk) 15:23, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
- Where exactly did you hear that? I don't see anything about it on the Wikipedia article (aside from the infobox), or on ANN. Thoughts? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 04:41, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

- The earliest vintage I see is still 1998. Where is the '97 reference? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 05:40, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
- The Shooting Star manga started in 1997.--Nohansen (talk) 14:42, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
- This should definitely be sourced in the article, as this is probably wrong. My other concern is, are there any other reliable sources confirming the year? Perhaps the book itself? A google search turned up some fan sites and a MySpace link, not reliable by any chance. Thoughts? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 19:02, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

It's barely visible but, if you look closer, the image in ANN's Shooting Star page reads "Asuka Comics DX". Here's a bigger image (link).
I don't know the exact issue when each Bebop manga began, but I can give you an approximation based on the fact that it takes an average of six months to publish enough chapters to fill a tankobon.
The first Shooting Star volume was released on May 1998 (ISBN 4048529358), so it's safe to say that the manga began on November 1997 at the latest. The second manga's first volume was released on April 1999 (ISBN 404853078X), so it probably began on October 1998.--Nohansen (talk) 21:04, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for helping me figure things out on that infobox page (was a BIG misunderstanding). Now back to this, are there any accessible records of Fantasy DX publishing the manga in late 1997? (Seems your first ISBN is broken). Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 21:25, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
- The ISBN is not broken. Search in Google, you'll find it (I did). The only accessible record I have of a Bebop manga being published in 1997 is ANN. But, like I said, it is entirely possible since it takes an average of six months to publish enough chapters to fill a tankobon and the first volume was released on May 1998.--Nohansen (talk) 21:34, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, I saw it. In light of this evidence, it's time to update Cowboy Bebop. Want me to do the edits or do you? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 21:48, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

- I'll take a look.--Nohansen (talk) 18:17, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for that insight. If what you say is true about the level of crime, why isn't crime fiction listed as a genre? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 06:41, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- Maybe it should. I just never got around to it because I sort of sneaked in the "Crime" category as part of a minor cleanup.--Nohansen (talk) 06:49, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- Guess I'll add it in. I noticed that one of the categories you put in Cowboy Bebop (manga) was 1998 works. Didn't you say it began in late '97? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 06:56, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- Shooting Star began in 1997. Cowboy Bebop (the manga) began in 1998. We covered this already:
- "The first Shooting Star volume was released on May 1998 (ISBN 4048529358), so it's safe to say that the manga began on November 1997 at the latest. The second manga's first volume was released on April 1999 (ISBN 404853078X), so it probably began on October 1998."--Nohansen (talk) 06:26, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
- Nohansen, what are you doing here and here? Thought we agreed that the manga was released before the anime. So how can the comic be based on the TV series? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 18:45, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
- The same way Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (novel) is based on Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Just because the manga started serialization before the TV series premiere doesn't change the fact that the manga is based on Shinichirō Watanabe's idea. This happens everyday. Read The Big O#Adaptations to see what I mean.--Nohansen (talk) 19:06, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
Categories and sub-categories
[edit]Category:Star Wars films is placed in a bunch of genre categories so it doesn't have to be repeated in every single film of the series. That's no different from what I did with the Once Upon a Time in China films. I replaced "Category:Cantonese-language films", "Category:Hong Kong films", "Category:Kung fu films" with "Category:Once Upon a Time in China series" (with itself is in the Cantonese, HK and kung fu categories).--Nohansen (talk) 16:54, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
- I see your point, but if you look at the articles for the individual Star Wars films, there are categories repeated across the films ("Films directed by George Lucas" for example). I guess the point is, that if someone was to look at a particular film, they should immediately be able to see which categories that film belongs to, without having to click through category links and see what categories those categories are in.
- I totally agree that Category:Kung fu films should be a subcategory of Category:Marital arts films. The reason I left both on the OUATIC articls is because there can be some confusion as to what constitutes either category.
- You will find that many HK film articles have either one or both categories (or neither!). I suppose they should be standardised as best as possible, but it might be a bit of a task, particularly as it would need to be determined which films are actually "kung fu films" (i.e. a film featuring a depiction of Chinese kung fu) versus what is not a "kung fu film", but is still a "martial arts film". Although it's a good place to start, it's not quite as simple as saying all Chinese / HK / Taiwanese films featuring martial arts are classed as "kung fu films", and films from anywhere else are just classed as the more general "martial arts films".
- Plus, some films might contain both kung fu and non-kung fu martial arts (particularly things like Ninja in the Dragons Den and Shaolin versus Ninja where you have Japanese vs Chinese martial arts) - should these fit into both categories? I don't know what the answer is.
- Anyway, apologies if I came across a little abrupt when undoing your changes. Keep up the good work. Gram123 (talk) 22:16, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Case Closed Movies
[edit]Sense you helped us when we decided on Case Closed genres, I thought I'd ask if you wanted to paticipate in this conversation/survey about changing the names or not. The aurgemnt is should we keep the movies named "Detective Conan_____" until the are licenced into english THEN change the titles to "Case Closed_____" or should we stay consistent with name titles and keep them all "Case Closed_____" . If you don't know too much about the show though it's ok. Just trying to get more people's opinion on this. - Prede (talk) 02:55, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
Occult detective
[edit]Would YuYu Hakusho, Bleach, Tokko and Kekkaishi fall under this? I was also going to say Hellsing, but I'm not too sure about that one. Thoughts? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 18:08, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
- YuYu Hakusho and Bleach are bangsian fantasy. Yusuke may be called a "spirit detective", but I don't remember any actual detecting or investigating going on in the TV series. Same with Bleach.
- I haven't read nor seen Tokko or Kekkaishi, so I can't say what they are or aren't to a certainty.
- I think some episodes of the Hellsing TV series veered into "occult detective" territory, but the OVA is more action. I'm assuming the manga is also action oriented, since Ultimate is said to be the more faithful adaptation.--Nohansen (talk) 20:38, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
- There actually are more detective-related events in the YuYu Hakusho manga. Does that count? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 02:10, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
- I started a discussion in the article's talk page.--Nohansen (talk) 04:55, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

If there is a main protagonist, as you claimed, why isn't he mentioned? Inclusively, I left a reply back here. Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 06:18, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
- "Devilman" is the protagonist's, Akira Fudo's, demonic alter-ego. He is mentioned in the following line: "[Amon's] possession of Akira causes Akira to transform into Devilman".--Nohansen (talk) 06:27, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
- I mean like a characters section, with him above. One would think there'd be something like that. Thoughts? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 06:31, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I suppose. The article doesn't get too much traffic (it has been edited less than 300 times), but someone might get around to it one of these days.--Nohansen (talk) 06:42, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Should this apply to all of the Dragon Ball mythos or just the manga? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 20:07, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
- I placed Category:Dragon Ball in Category:Works based on Journey to the West to avoid any confusion or conflict. As I understand it, since Toriyama had Journey to the West in mind when he created Dragon Ball, then all of DB is based, influenced, or inspired (in one way or another) by the novel... no matter how much the mythos had drifted-off by the time of DBGT. It's the same way Miyuki-chan in Wonderland is considered an Alice in Wonderland derivative, even when later chapters don't necessarily reference Lewis Carroll's work.--Nohansen (talk) 20:17, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
- That makes sense now that you mention it. Thank you Nohansen. Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 20:25, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

If consensus agrees your versions are fine on those three articles, then they can be redone, but right now your reverting isn't just undoing the MoS fixes, but also fixes to cats after a rename, and fixing Non-free image violations on [[The Big O]. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 04:23, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

Bleach genres
[edit]Someone started a discussion here. I have just left a comment there in regards to something you said. Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 03:34, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
As a result of the recent merger, there is a category mess on the page which goes against the teachings of WP:MOS-AM#Content. I have a favour to ask of you: would you mind sorting it out with the redirects Dragon Ball (anime), Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball GT (like you did to Trigun Maximum, Cowboy Bebop, and Cowboy Bebop: Shooting Star)? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 21:07, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- And I'm unsure if there is a need to create/categorize Dragon Ball Z (manga) since Viz made it a separate collection. Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 21:10, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- I want to help, but I'm not going anywhere near that article until the post-merger discussions cool down (I even removed it from my watchlist).--Nohansen (talk) 15:02, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
- They're just a bunch of whiners. But I'll let you know when it settles. Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 15:57, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
- I discovered the same problem on Sailor Moon, see this edit made by Nihonjoe. Thoughts? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 03:24, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
- Am I reading this wrong or does the MoS support multiple year categories if there are multiple releases? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 03:49, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
- Those MOS instructions are kinda outdated. When Nihonjoe created sub-categories for Category:Anime of the 2000s it was discussed how best to handle articles on series with multiples releases or seasons. I suggested WP:Categorizing redirects and the users still participating in the discussion found it acceptable. After a week with no objections, I categorized X (TV series) and X (1996 film).
- It seems other users like having series listed under their full name (See: Gunslinger Girl). The problem is they don't know how to do it because WP:MOS-AM doesn't tell them how it is done.--Nohansen (talk) 04:54, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
- What would you suggest at this point? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 18:59, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
- Keep categorizing the redirects. Nihonjoe's doing it, too: Mobile Suit SD Gundam Mk I, Mobile Suit SD Gundam Mk II, Mobile Suit SD Gundam Mk III...--Nohansen (talk) 22:13, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
- Is (s)he aware of his error on Sailor Moon and others? If not, we should let him know. Thoughts? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 00:38, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
- Seems the discussion died down after new consensus (think you can watchlist Dragon Ball again). BTW how was this edit? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 02:15, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
I don't think Saiyuki is wuxia. For one, Sanzo carries a gun; wuxia heroes are swordsmen and women. Wuxia adventures are usually set in the "martial arts underworld"; Saiyuki takes place in some weird fantasy world (if I'm not mistaken). And then there's the fact that the source material, Journey to the West, isn't wuxia at all.--Nohansen (talk) 04:05, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
- What do you suggest? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 16:15, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
- Keep it simple: Adventure, Fantasy.--Nohansen (talk) 16:29, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
- I'll get right on it. Can you do the cat fixes to the Dragon Ball links? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 16:31, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
- Saiyuki also has multiple anime cats. What to do there? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 16:36, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
- Why did you categorize Dragon Ball (TV series) and not Dragon Ball (anime)? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 04:23, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
- Because there is more than one "Dragon Ball anime". There's the three DB films (the first of which was originally released as plain Dragon Ball); there's also The Path to Power and the upcoming Dragon Ball: Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return!!. All those films are officially named Dragon Ball, with only a subtitle distinguishing them. While I "should" have categorized the article that ended up redirected (i.e. Dragon Ball (anime)), the truth is the article name of "Dragon Ball (anime)" could have been used for the first film or an article on the animated franchise. I think it was best to use the redirect that only applied to the TV series (i.e. Dragon Ball (TV series))... Too long an explanation? Yeah, I think so too.--Nohansen (talk) 04:40, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
- I completely understand. Thanks man. Oh, and Saiyuki? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 04:46, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
- I was going to do Saiyuki too but, since there's an open merge discussion (from July!), I decided against it. It's best to see if Reload ends up merged or not.--Nohansen (talk) 04:53, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
- Whoops! Thanks for getting that. So, where's the merge discussion? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 21:08, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
- And what about Sailor Moon? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 22:22, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- I think we should also address the category problems on Hell Girl. And concerning this, which do we actually use: or ? What was the consensus? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 21:50, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
- What's the problem with Jigoku Shōjo?--Nohansen (talk) 03:24, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- It just has one too many anime cats, like Sailor Moon. Could you also take a shot at it? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 03:37, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
I was using for manga until I found we have a ; that's why I changed it in Cutey Honey's article. But that will be a thing of the past, as Nihonjoe is preparing to sub-categorize the "Manga by decade" categories.
Oh, and I'll take a later look to the Sailor Moon categories. I might even do a complete restructuring, like I'm doing to Category:Gundam.--Nohansen (talk) 03:24, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- Mind taking care of Trigun as well? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 04:52, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
- And Devilman. Did you want to personally do any of these or should I take care of it? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 06:56, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
- If you want to do it yourself, I won't stop you.--Nohansen (talk) 03:31, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
- Did Devilman. How do you order the categories? I ask because you changed them around in Trigun. Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 06:03, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
- I like to place related categories together. I don't like seeing, say, "Adventure anime and manga" so far from "Western anime and manga". Also, I sort them by "importance"; for example: the eponymous category (Category:Trigun) is always more important than the category of the company that licensed in series in Australia and New Zealand (Category:Madman Entertainment anime).--Nohansen (talk) 16:49, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

Shouldn't this be created as a redirect to Lupin III? If so, what categories go here? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 04:22, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
Lupin III: World's Most Wanted...
I think that's it.--Nohansen (talk) 04:33, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
- Done. Can you take care of Sailor Moon (manga) and Sailor Moon (anime)? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 04:52, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
- I'm done, too.--Nohansen (talk) 05:08, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, I just don't understand something. Why didn't you nail the two I mentioned above? And what should become of Sailor Moon (TV series)? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 05:15, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
I was thinking of using Sailor Moon (manga) for the manga categories, but then I figured they could just as well go in the main article since the franchise started with the manga. Sailor Moon (anime) and Sailor Moon (TV series) could be used as disambiguation pages.--Nohansen (talk) 05:22, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
- How so? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 05:29, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
- There's more than one Sailor Moon anime (five TV seasons, 3 feature films and the random animated special); just like there is more than more Sailor Moon TV series (again, the five anime TV series and the live-action one). See #Saiyuki for a similar situation.--Nohansen (talk) 05:36, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
- It's just that you lost me when you suggested that "they should be disambiguation pages". Maybe I'll get a better understanding once you do the edits? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 05:44, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
- No, no, I said could (not "should") be used as disambiguation pages, "could". Because the name is too ambiguous to be used as anything else... like I told you about Dragon Ball (anime).--Nohansen (talk) 05:49, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, sorry about that. Guess I'm too exhausted ATM. I'll probably try something tomorrow. Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 05:51, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
- Since you have more experience than me at this, could you see if this edit was indeed incorrect? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 17:34, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
- It wasn't incorrect; in fact, I considered doing the same thing. But like I already told you: "I figured [the manga categories] could just as well go in the main article since the franchise started with the manga."--Nohansen (talk) 23:40, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
Powers and abilities (From Talk:Ganon)
[edit]"Right now, the question is whether the character is a deity".
No, it isn't. The question is: Why do we have to remove perfectly valid categories from articles? Again, I find your logic of "fictional demons and deities can potentially perform any superhuman/paranormal/supernatural ability" to be faulty and unless there are reliable sources backing that statement (I believe) you're falling into a sort of backwards WP:OR: interpreting and synthesizing in order to remove information.
I'm not advocating a cfd for the categories in question. But what's the point of powers and abilities categories if we can't use them? If any given character is recognized for using magic, why can't we place it Category:Fictional characters who use magic. Because it's a "demon"? Not buying it when there are comic book demons with no magic powers like Hellboy.
Most superpowers come from somewhere, they're not all innate. The source is a character's power shouldn't be a factor. Spider-Man has accelerated healing, precognition and superhuman speed and strength all thanks to the bite of a radioactive spider. X-23 has accelerated healing because she is a clone of Wolverine. And Superman is "Superman" thanks to the yellow sun.
What's the next step? Removing Nightcrawler (comics) from Category:Marvel Comics characters who can teleport because the only reason he can do it is because he is a Category:Marvel Comics mutants. I don't think so, because he is recognized --nay, defined-- by his power. Like Superman and Captain Marvel. Those guys are as close to gods as you can get, but I don't see any of us removing them from Category:DC Comics characters with superhuman strength precisely because the two are widely recognized for their superhuman strength.
Maybe I was right. The only solution might the radical one: send the powers and abilities categories to WP:CFD, starting with the most trivial.
Sorry for intruding. I just wanted to make sure you knew what I thought.--Nohansen (talk) 23:58, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:02, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Non-free rationale for File:Roger's Theme (Big O).ogg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Roger's Theme (Big O).ogg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
