E104421

Hi. I noticed that you placed E104421 (talk · contribs) on parole, but I think the activity of other edit warriors on the same article also deserves attention. Please have a look at the reverting activity of VartanM (talk · contribs) within the last week on the same article about Shusha: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]

Please note that the last 3 rvs were made yesterday, and if E104421 gets punished for making 3 rvs, it would be fair to also look into similar behavior by other users, considering that VartanM has recently been officially warned by another admin to stop edit warring: [6] I believe users should not be treated differently for the same offense. Regards, Grandmaster (talk) 08:33, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • My edits are related with the "cultural life" of the city and sourced by Encyclopedia Britannica. I provided the quotations into the talk page. In addition, i explained my edits in the both WP:AN/I and the Shusha talk page. VantanM constantly deletes the sourced information and quotations from the article, claiming that i'm causing disruption. In my opinion, his aim is to prevent everyone to edit. Yesterday, i did my first edit into the article in my wiki-life, but this was the first time i confronted with such kind of aggressive manner towards sourced editing. Instead of discussing constructively, VartanM defocuses the dispute resolution into my previous block log which were due to my long term factual disagreements with Tajik. My last block is dated 1 April 2007. I'm so surprised that i'll be accused of my previous case of conflicts which was ended up with ArbCom and on totally different issue (Eurasian nomads). Humans make mistakes, but accusing people for their past issues is not fair. That case was closed. I want my name to be extracted from the parole, since i'm not a party of that dispute. Btw, I've already took your message as a warning. Regards. E104421 (talk) 10:33, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Note: Please check my contributions again: Here is my first edit to the Shusha article in my wiki-life: [7] and its spell-check [8] immediately after the first.
  • 1st revert: [9] 09:15, 20 November 2007
  • 2nd revert: [10] 10:24, 20 November 2007
  • So-called 3rd revert: [11] 20:43, 20 November 2007

The third one is not actually a revert, since i added extra sources and quotations. In addition, i restored the previously removed sourced material, and added the missing see also link that VartanM suggested in the talk page. VartanM, on the other hand, just deletes the sourced information, but creates artificial reasons to accuse editors. Placing me on that parole is not fair, i think. Your comment for me "History of edit warring on Armenia-Azerbaijan articles, has a history of blocks on a number of related articles from earlier this year" is not correct, since this was the first time i edited Armenia-Azerbaijan articles. My previous blocks were on Eurasian nomads and Nomadic Empires related topics which is totally irrelevant. Regards. E104421 (talk) 10:55, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

    • Hey, i noticed that you only placed me under the parole, but did nothing for VartanM. I shall greatly appreciate if you'd be kind enough to explain why you did so. Please, remove my name from that list, i'm not a party of that arbitration case and except yesterday i never edited any Armenia-Azerbaijan articles. Regards. E104421 (talk) 11:05, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • I want to clarify my block history. All are related with my conflicts with Tajik. In addition, all are on Nomadic Empires related articles. The list of the articles are here [12]. As you see, none of them is related with the Az-Ar case. In my edit hsitory, the only exception is Shucha. There i added a new section on "Cultural life", quotations and references. I already stated how i came to that page. It's not fair to punish me with my previous block history (the last one dated 1 April 2007, 8 months ago). Please, review my situation again. I shall provide more detailed explanation if necessary. Regards. E104421 (talk) 17:12, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Nishkid64, hope you're well. I see you placed E104421 under editing restrictions for edit warring on Armenia-Azerbaijani relacted articles. Just after you did this, I placed VartanM under restrictions for similar reasons to you. Kiril's just clarified the ruling in the arbitration case [[here and has stated that there must be incivility for users to be placed under parole and I can't see any incilivty from either of the users, so on retrospect, I think we were both wrong to place the users on the supervised editing list. Would you have any problems with me removing the editing restrictions from them? Ryan Postlethwaite 11:11, 22 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

DYK is in red alert. Only one hour but the previous one was 18 hours late (I put some of the current hooks in the next update that is on the main page 24 hours ago!). The one before than was 7 hours late. Therefore, we are 3 cycles behind or 18 lost hook opportunities. I see that you have edited within the past hour. Thank you for your help. Review requested

Hey could you take a look at this edit by Hoopsworldscout (talk · contribs)? You helped out with this user a little while back and I think the POV issues are still there. The edit he has put into this article as shown there (which was also put in in two other articles) looks like it's not neutral. It looks like it it's championing the spirit of the individuals and bemoaning the fact that the side that won the election did it through big business donations. He argues that because it's factual, it has to be in there. Thoughts? Metros (talk) 20:19, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your comment. I'm not commenting anymore 'cause I don't want to be perceived as harassing the opposers. As you say, though, I'm used to the community expecting a nom to put forth the best image possible. Paying attention to minutiae. This includes not redacting ones own comments. I've seen opposes based on that and minor typo's. I don't understand his rationale here. Thanks again. Cheers, 14:13, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

Deleted Article

NishKid64~

I am looking for the article that was entitled Building Block Theory that was tied to Nation Building on Wikipedia. I am a city Mayor in Anoka, Minnesota in the USA and am writing about Building Block Theory. I wanted to have something external to go from for my bibliography. It appears that the article was deleted, which among other things linked to external sites. Is there anyway for myself or for you to retrieve it, even if it doesn't get reposted? I would love to get hold of this information for the book I am writing about the local authority and responsability to localize.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The prices of the cars are based on Indian prices since they are in rupees and in lakhs in Mumbai. (http://www.hondacarindia.com/ownahonda/pricelist.asp) (http://2006sonata_in.in.trs.carscomplete.com/hyundai/dispatch.do). The price of the home is in actual US figures I think. But that is on the East Coast, which is much cheaper. I live in the Beverly Hills / Hollywood (Los Angeles)area now, so obviously the prices here are much much higher here since it is considered the wealthiest area in America. Hope you liked the pics from Flickr. Hope you like the Civic. Do u have one in India or the US? CheersNikkul (talk) 05:12, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm an eagle scout and I also was rewarded for establishing a school for slum children in India and having more than 1000 volunteering hours among other things. Linda Greenstein actually presented me with a resolution passed in the New Jersey Senate to commend my record of service and leadership. Re: RfA questions

I appreciate your response my freind, but I think you mis-interpret the reason for my question. I'm not after responses detailing the rationale of each decision. I'm interested in how the candidate refutes my allegations (backed with evidence both ways) that they may make bad calls. Justification of individual episodes after the fact is easy. A good response on why those kind of situations will not arrise in the future is not so easy. I await the candidates response, rather than his nominators, if that's okay. He looks good, but you yourself admit at least one of those calls was pretty dodgy. Best. Pedro :  Chat  22:44, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No worries. I always feel "protective" of my nominees (only two so far of course) so I understand! I think my point is fair though; admins going crazy with the delete button is unlikely, but bad calls do' impact the existing admin team, and if that means a candidate needs a little while longer to gain further experience then better that they get it. I'm sure he'll be fine - you're an experienced team player and I hardly think you'd nominate a poor candidate. I just need to clarify things. My question may also help should others notice those issues, and just oppose without giving the candidate opportunity to explain / expand / defend (which is often the case at RfA). Pedro :  Chat  22:54, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Regarding your recent comments on candidate votes pages, unfortunately, they are too long and should be made at the voting talk page. This determination was reached on prior consensus on the ArbCom Elections talk page. I've gone ahead and moved them appropriately, but feel free to edit my move to your liking. The reason I asked you this is because I find myself looking for innapropriate user names, removing nonsense unblock requests and providing rationale as to why they should/shouldn't be unblocked, hovering over orphaned non-free images with an unquentiable urge to delete them, and trying to mediate discussions at WP:AN/I. It used to have the highest deforestation rate but Nigeria does now ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 20:36, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:RfA nomination

First off, may I say thank you for your great support and also for waiting over a day for a reply. Really, it means so much to me that I can't even explain it and put it into words. Anyway, I've been thinking this over since yesterday and I'll think it's better if I wait until after Christmas possibly January. The main reason being I have stressful exams before Christmas and apparently, from what I've heard, Rfa's can be stressful so better to have the stress (if any) spread out if possible. There are still some things I want to do before starting the Rfa such as improving articles that I have promised myself that I would improve, create the article (that is currently userfied) in the mainspace, create some music templates (I know what articles need them badly) and do a bit more Xfd discussion participation. When I complete this list of things, I'll see how I feel about starting a Rfa but for now, at this moment in time, I'll have to decline this Rfa nomination. This is actually hard because part of me is screaming "Accept! Accept!!" but the other part is reminding me how my real life in the next two weeks will be: hectic, chaotic, insane seem to be the words that spring to mind. But it really really means a lot that you have so much faith in me and when I feel like I'm ready for an Rfa, I'll know who to go to for a nom but bear in mind it could possibly be a co-nom as a handful of people have asked me in the last two months. Again, cheers :D AngelOfSadness talk 20:41, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for being faster than me :)

That's basically it; my wife is a RuneScape player and was checking background info on its history (apparently in RuneScape Classic, one could fight PvP anywhere) when she came across the contentious paragraph that someone added as an apparent 'cry of despair', and you edited out. I was in the process of doing the same thing, but hadn't logged in to Wiki in ages so I was busy getting my password reset. :)

Thanks for your prompt and even-handed action; just thought you should know I'll be watching the page closely for similar desperate acts and have the next day off from work with little else to do. :D

Request

Hey Nishkid64, seeing as you created and worked on most of the Lists of "NFL team" first-round draft pick articles, I was wondering if you could give a couple lists I created a once over to make sure they are up to par. They are List of Green Bay Packers first-round draft picks and List of Seattle Seahawks first-round draft picks. If you had any input or suggestions, it would be very appreciated. Thanks!
Gonzo fan2007 talkcontribs 04:44, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I have been searching for a picture, but I cannot find one. I live in Arizona, so getting a picture of anything relating to the Packers is a little difficult. Ref 31 means that they switched draft picks basically, I will clarify that one. I actually think I have every draft note from the early era, the Packers didn't do much back then. The only question mark is ref 4, where there was a trade but the terms of the trade are unknown. GB is actually at FLC, and Seattle is at PR. And yeah I was actually thinking the same thing about FT status, I actually created Category:Lists of first-round draft picks by NFL team so that it would be easier to group them. If you look on the talk page of the category, I made a list of the ones that need to be created. I actually had a concern, because if you look there is List of Houston Texans (NFL) draft selections which actually lists every draft pick. Since the Texans arent that old, it is ok for now, but I was thinking that there is no way we could keep this up in 10-15 years, the page would be huge. I actually created a page for the Texans in my sandbox (the list and refs are done, not the intro) but I am hesitant to replace and move the page, since I would be deleting content. Do you have any thoughts on that?
Gonzo fan2007 talkcontribs 05:11, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

D'oh

Sorry about that, I have no clue what happened. I was attempting to add someone who had not in fact edited since that date, and had said s/he'd be gone in the near future, but I mistakenly put your name (or an alternate version of your name) down instead of the correct one. I don't know how I got so mixed up with the names, and I have absolutely no recollection of who I was trying to add to the page. Again, sorry for the confusion, I certainly wasn't trying to write your wikiobituary!--Cúchullain t/c 05:14, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think we just assigned blocks to the same page, don't mean to step on your toes:) DMacks (talk) 03:29, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Omgili Entry

Nishkid hi, A few months back (April 25th 2007), you reviewed a page I submitted for the term "Omgili". At first you removed it, but then, after some research, decided it was worthy and reinstated it. A few weeks ago, another Wikipedia editor, username HMWITH, deleted this page. I have been trying to understand what has changed since your review and am not getting answers. Could you please look into this for me and tell me what I can do about it? Thanks for your help Yoav Pridor (talk) 09:52, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Peer review

I am currently improving Gimme More for FA and aside from formal peer review, I am looking forward for some comments on the article for further improvements. Could you give me some feedbacks? Please see the talk page of the article and thank you very much. --βritandβeyonce (talkcontribs) 13:40, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

DYK

DYK is 2 hours late. Have any time to move the next updates to the main page? Archtransit (talk) 20:15, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! Even more impressive is that the "BUSY" sign is flashing but you did it anyway! Archtransit (talk) 20:40, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Numbered list

Hello Nishkid64! How are you? I noticed that you have contributed to so many freatured articles and also created so many articles. Great contributions! I have a problem. How can I nominate an article for a 'good article' status? And, I also have a suggestion: Why don't you create a numbered list? It will be easier for other users to know how many articles you have created. Regards, Masterpiece2000 (talk) 05:52, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
