Problems with upload of File:Meteorstorm poster.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Meteorstorm poster.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from, who created it, or provided a license tag. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, select the appropriate license tag from this list, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the information to the image's description. If you can't find a suitable license tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 18:05, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Meteorstorm_poster.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Meteorstorm_poster.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 06:33, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Arran Brindle hitting on leg at NatWest Women's Twenty20 Quadrangular Series (England v Australia).jpeg

Thanks for uploading File:Arran Brindle hitting on leg at NatWest Women's Twenty20 Quadrangular Series (England v Australia).jpeg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 08:04, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

The article 2012 Australian Open – Boys' Singles Qualifying has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

As per decision last year - the tournament is notable, the qualifying is not. See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2011 Australian Open – Boys' Singles Qualifying

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. The-Pope (talk) 14:06, 24 January 2012 (UTC)

Hi. When you recently edited Day-by-day summaries of the 2012 Australian Open, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Wayne Arthurs (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Actually, I had copy - pasted the whole stuff from the main article since the article had been too much voluminous. I should have thoroughly checked all the links before posting. As of now, I had corrected the link -

Removing AfD template

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles, or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion debates, as you did with List of adjectival and demonymic forms for countries and nations. Otherwise, it may be difficult to create consensus. If you oppose the deletion of an article, please comment at the respective page instead. This is an automated message from a bot about this edit, where you removed the deletion template from an article before the deletion discussion was complete. If this message is in error, please report it. Snotbot  t • c »  09:43, 29 January 2013 (UTC)

Article request

Hi! Do you know Marathi? If so, are you willing to write an article in Marathi about a Canadian subject? WhisperToMe (talk) 07:28, 8 April 2013 (UTC)

Yep ! I had mentioned the same in my Hobbies & Interests page. Do let me know the article so that I may start drafting the same at earliest. Thanks ! - Ninney (talk) 08:47, 8 April 2013 (UTC)
Okay! Thanks for the cat lover badge :) - Anyway the article requested is Peel District School Board - it's a school district in Canada with a large Marathi-speaking population. If you need help translating English terms to Marathi there is a Marathi language website that the school board operates. Other Marathi-speaking Wikipedians are aware of the request. If it's already started at a point you are welcome to contribute more to an existing article! The Peel Region has a lot of immigrants from India, and the school board has websites in Indian languages, so having Wikipedia articles on the board in Indian languages is important. Hi Ninney! I closed the AfD you started as it seemed you never actually intended to nominate the main article, only your userspace draft. Delivered by EdwardsBot (talk) at 09:15, 3 December 2013 (UTC)

Dear Ninney, Thanks for taking an interest in this article.
Gunking round the internet a little, I am (initially) finding only the sources cited. As I see it, the problem here is temporal. This was a good little boat produced for several years, all of which antedated the internet.
I would say (WP:OR and WP:Synth that I expect that this is a notable boat. It comes from extremely good lineage, good builder O'Day boats and a very important yacht designer, Philip Rhodes. He designed Weatherly, for God's sake!
I would suggest that there was lots of intrinsic notability, but that it needs to be found in reviews, commentary, test sails, etc. at the time. Presumably that would be in print media, primarily magazines. That would be my initial suggestion.
I found this note on line. Henderson, Richard (1981). Philip L. Rhodes and His Yacht Designs. Camden, ME: International Marine Pub. Co. ISBN 0-87742-128-5. Retrieved December 5, 2013. "I think this is the book I looked through quite a few years ago and if it is it had quite a lot of information about his designs in it. I don't remember just how much detail it gave on the various plans, but I think it gave a fair amount. I was able to find my father's boat (one of his lesser designs..the 23' O'Day Tempest) and as I recall they had a profile drawing for it tucked away in the back of the book, and that they had considerably more information on the bigger and more. It is, of course, long out of print, but maybe you can get a copy through inter-library loan, or if you've got plenty of dough, pick up a used copy." I think this might be a good WP:RS and would go a long way toward establishing notability. If one ferrets around in the lines in the Phillip L. Rhodesarticle, there appears to be a trove of relevant information waiting to be uncovered.Mystic Seaport library has primary and secondary material on this boat. O'Day Sailboats & Yachts Collections Catalog: GG Archives]
I've not been personally involved in reviewing articles that are newly submitted for publication. Hypothetically, if this were a question of deletion, I would think that it is probably notable enough. As I am not sure of the standard — I am fairly confident that notability could be established if one could go to the library (particulary the Mystic Seaport Library) and devoted unlimited amounts of time to find the print media and original sources — I am not sure that we are over the threshold you are operating with.
I doubt that I can find the time to do the hard copy research, if that is what it takes. Maybe the original creator will do that.
Alternatively, you could weigh the long term potential of the article. And then do what you think is right. Happy editing. 7&6=thirteen () 02:26, 6 December 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the info ! Notability won't be an issue ... you mentioned ... father's boat ... if possible can we have a photo, I had already marked image needed in the Talk page.
The "father's boat" was part of a text I quoted from something I found on line. I have no connection with this boat, other than I ran into a call for assistance on a project page. So I don't have a picture. 7&6=thirteen () 23:01, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

You have been removing links to the Strangers and Brothers series of books by C P Snow in many articles (see your contributions list). There are so many that they must have been done by a bot. You falsely claimed that The Conscience of the Rich, which you had edited, was reviewed & accepted and you redirected article links to Strangers and Brothers to the now non-existent The Conscience of the Rich. Please restore these links. It seems to me that you deliberately subverted Wikipedia's processes. Can you explain your conduct? I remind you that users who show that they are unable to edit Wikipedia competently may have their editing privileges revoked. Xxanthippe (talk) 21:48, 12 December 2013 (UTC).

@Xxanthippe: Oh ! my apologies for the same. Though it may seem deliberately done but it was a mistake by me while using check boxes when I was trying to remove the redirect link of The Conscience of the Rich with Strangers and Brothers. The action went topsy-turvy completely while using Twinkle which has a good provision, I mistakenly kept the check mark instead of unchecks & while I planned to undo my actions after I completed the Review process of The Conscience of the Rich, the review process failed for some unknown reason. I tried thrice to mark the article The Conscience of the Rich as reviewed but thrice it showed the same error.
I am an user who assumes good faith, especially when it comes to editing Wikipedia trying to do what I really think is best. Its nothing about lack of competence or some kind of mischief but a pure accident. Alas ! but the damage is done.
At the end of the explanation, I apologize for the inconvenience of the damage done & not reverted my changes & Thanks for the trouble of reverting them. - Ninney (talk) 16:10, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for the explanation. Please would you revert the remaining ones. Xxanthippe (talk) 21:45, 18 December 2013 (UTC).
@Xxanthippe: Reverted all S&B links as listed in my contribution list. Also, the review process of C. P. Snow's The Conscience of the Rich is done. Do check the article & see if you can add some valuable inputs in the article. - Ninney (talk) 13:13, 19 December 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for making these changes. Best wishes. Xxanthippe (talk) 21:52, 19 December 2013 (UTC).

Hi Ninney, I noticed you just altered [1] the Food and Drink Project template on the talk page for Gingerbread house. I'll be the first to admit I don't know much about templates at all and I had been confused when I first put the Project banner on the article talk page as it inserted a number of categories: "Food and drink articles needing attention to referencing and citation"; "Food and drink articles needing attention to coverage and accuracy"; "Food and drink articles needing attention to structure"; "Food and drink articles needing attention to grammar"; "Food and drink articles needing attention to supporting materials"; and "Food and drink articles needing attention to accessibility". I raked about a bit and it seemed that if I added the parameter "category=no" it didn't then add all the categories given (as I don't think they apply to the article). Was this wrong? @Sagaciousphil: No, I had simply marked the article as START class but if we think that the article is way beyond the class tagged, then we need to Refer Wikipedia:WikiProject Food and drink/Assessment -
01. Any member of the Food and drink WikiProject is free to add or change the rating of an article.
or
02. Request an assessment on WikiProject Food and drink. Refer Wikipedia:WikiProject Food and drink/Assessment#Requesting an assessment.
I am sure the article is well written and much more than the Start class.
Good Luck & All the best & do let me know the outcome.

Hi, the article was already marked as start class. My concern is that the change you made (i.e. removing the parameter "categories=no") means that a load of categories have been added to the talk page that really do not apply - the article certainly does not require attention to grammar, referencing etc but your change means it is appearing in those categories. Does the inclusion of that parameter cause a problem on the template? It is due to appear on the main page DYK section on Christmas Day as the lead hook, so I would rather this was addressed. @Sagaciousphil: Refer Category:WikiProject banners with formatting errors for more info. I think the parameters class & importance have to be removed then the article would be marked as unaccessed. Do whatever is best. I tried removing class parameter & then importance parameter. The article is worth a DYK nominee, the formatting errors can be tackled in the first week of Jan. See to it that all your efforts (edits) is in best interest in making the article in DYK. All my support & all the best for the DYK. - Ninney (talk) 14:06, 22 December 2013 (UTC)
@Sagaciousphil: After going through the article, I had assessed the rating parameters as Class B with all B1-B6 parameters as positive. Check the category section now. Did it got nominated for DYK? - Ninney (talk) 13:19, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
Yes, thank you, Ninney; it was kind of you to sort that out. The DYK is currently sitting in the Queue as the lead hook (with the image of the gingerbread house) to appear on the main page starting from midnight on Christmas Day for 12 hours (UK time). It is Hafspajen's baby really, with copy editing helped along the way by Eric Corbett and Yngvadottir - two of our very best editors, so that's why I knew there weren't any grammar problems etc! The categories on the talk page look much better now! SagaciousPhil - Chat 13:45, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
[Blushing horribly] Eric yes, me not so much. But thanks, and good Yule to you both. Yngvadottir (talk) 13:52, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

Hooray ! Gingerbread house appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know? column today.

Congrats !! SagaciousPhil, Yngvadottir & Hafspajen
