Disambiguation link notification for January 3
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 1973 in spaceflight, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page MOM (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Difference between Category:1971 in spaceflight & Category:Spacecraft launched in 1971
@WDGraham: What is the major difference between Category:1971 in spaceflight & Category:Spacecraft launched in 1971 ? - Ninney (talk) 01:48, 23 January 2014 (UTC)
- Category:1971 in spaceflight is a higher-level category for all events in 1971 (except those covered by subcategories), while Category:Spacecraft launched in 1971 is just for individual spacecraft launched that year. --W. D. Graham 09:03, 23 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks! - Ninney (talk) 00:37, 12 March 2014 (UTC)
Multiple links
You're doing a great job with the cleanup. Just one little thing, I thing you might be being a little overzealous when it comes to removing multiple wikilinks - it is usually acceptable to link again in the text anything that is also in the infobox or a navbox; here, for example, you've removed a few critical links (Kosmos-2I, Dnepropetrovsk Sputnik) because they are also in the boxes. I'm also not sure about shortening the {{convert}} templates - we usually leave them fully expanded, especially in prose. --W. D. Graham 23:34, 24 January 2014 (UTC)
- @WDGraham - Oops ! Its too late now. I had already promised that I would be working on the OLBY part this month & the month is near to completion & I am way behind schedule (had reached only till the year 1969). After all the OLBY template creation, the task of adding it in individual spacecraft articles is what I am working - Adding Template: Orbital launches in YYYY, Category:Spacecraft launched in YYYY & my all time favorite Portal|Spaceflight. I got the AWB recently & still trying to figure out how it works exactly. It shows me a list box with Multiple wiki-links & considering it as an inappropriate WP:MOS, I removed those wikilinks. I had never focussed much on Multiple wiki-links before & not that enthusiastic. I am happy now that I need not concentrate on it at all. Anyway, what is done is done, I will try to fix those links from all the articles I had been working for past 3-4 days. Thanks for highlighting. -Ninney (talk) 00:09, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
- Fixed Added all critical Wikilinks + Removed abbreviated conversion units from prose - Ninney (talk) 01:45, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
Dear Ninney,
Thank you very much for taking the time to review my draft submission of my father A.T Moorthy's Wikipedia entry. As I am new to Wikipedia, I only just managed to find my way to the Conflict of Interest page where you provided some additional detail about your reasons for rejecting the submission.
I note in your comment that you suspect that the article was submitted by my late father himself, as you point out the "Shri" is used in India as an honorific. Perhaps I should explain that my given name is Sri Ayilavan Thedchana Moorthy, and that I go as "Sri Moorthy". This has not caused me a problem until I tried to submit an entry to Wikipedia!
Regarding your question about why the biographical entry is important and about why I emphasised the events in my father's life as I did: here I do think you have missed the most important point of the entry, to the extent of interpreting the opposite! The point of the entry was not about the service that my father did for his country, which itself was not inconsiderable, or it would not have got him to the post of Sri Lanka High Commissioner in London, but the service he did for his community, namely the Tamils of Sri Lanka, in taking a courageous stand against the Government of Sri Lanka, at great personal sacrifice (loss of a career, threats made to his life, inability to return to his home country etc). A previous editor had no issues with the content, only with the formatting and the references, all of which I have addressed.
I hope that I have addressed your concern that my (late) father had tried to create his own entry. I do also encourage you to look up the many references that I provided, especially the obituary in "The Guardian", which is one of the major daily newspapers in the United Kingdom, that only publishes obituaries of significant national and international figures, written by professional journalists. I look forward to receiving your feedback.
Kind regards Sri.moorthy (talk) 22:11, 26 January 2014 (UTC)Sri Moorthy — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sri.moorthy (talk • contribs) 22:03, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
- @Sri.moorthy -
Hi Mr. Moorthy,
Firstly thanks for clearing the doubt regarding the name Sri.Moorthy & secondly sorry if my comments have hurt you. I was very sure that the person who had over 39 edits till date & that to on ONLY this particular article for past 8 months is either himself or someone close which implies WP:COI. Even the result of my complaint discussion was COI APPEARS TO BE OBVIOUS. In Wikipedia, COI editing is strongly discouraged. But, since you had made it clear about yourself, I suggest you work on the comments of the reviews done.
I am only waiting for a short lead (Introduction), Early life, 1 liner Education details & start of Career to make the Review of the article as ACCEPTED. So, If you can provide one, do so & then mark it for review & inform me immediately. If time permits, I may also do a bit of copy editing to make sure it is fairly written and properly sourced as per Wiki standards with WP:NPOV. Better you do it, before this month ends for I am not sure about my availability in February.
Lastly, Read these as my friendly advice (Since the article is a biography about your Late Father) -
* Please bear in mind that Wikipedia is almost entirely operated by volunteers, and impolite behavior, even if entirely understandable, will often be less effective.
* Wikipedia seeks neutrality. An article that is written about you or someone close should be editorially neutral. It will not take sides and will report both the good and the bad about you from verifiable and reliable sources. It will not promote you. It will just contain factual information about you from other sources. This is a mixed blessing.
* Some accomplishment or event, good or bad, may give you notability enough to qualify for a Wikipedia article. Once a celebrity, one's personal life may be exposed. No one is perfect, so one's faults may get reported, and overreported, and reported enough to end up on Wikipedia . Even if you have lived a life free of scandal, and your Wikipedia article is spotless, at some time in the future your first publicized mistake may well end up getting into that article. Suddenly your fame may turn into highly publicized infamy. Yes, Wikipedia is highly publicized! It is mirrored and copied all over the place.
* Since all information added to Wikipedia must be verifiable, this may make it difficult or impossible to defend yourself against sourced negative information added to an article about you. If the information is added within guidelines, you cannot tell "your side" of the story or otherwise provide a response.
* Even if there is nothing bad to say about you, vandalism on Wikipedia is quite common, and most articles are vandalized by someone at one time or another. Vandalism consists of a variety of additions, removals, and other changes, often including hate speech (possibly against your ethnicity or the cause you stand for), profanity, inappropriate images, external links, or just random characters. Vandalism is generally reverted quickly, but unless oversighted, will remain permanently in the edit history. Most edit histories are likely ignored unless they bear some significance.
All the best ! Awaiting Review to be done by me for Late Mr. A. T. Moorthy's article. - ~~

No worries, I don't think you made a mistake, but in regards to your reversion in Talk:Low Earth orbit, I am curious to know if you would have left it alone had it not been for the words I unwisely chose the first edit that Vsmith undid? -Dirtclustit (talk) 08:00, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Splendors of Dawn Poetry Foundation
You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.
Thank you.
A tag has been placed on Splendors of Dawn Poetry Foundation, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an acceptable page. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item G11, as well as the guidelines on spam.
If you can indicate why the subject of this page is not blatant advertising, . Clicking that button will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. You are welcome to edit the page to fix this problem, but please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. As well as removing promotional phrasing, it helps to add factual encyclopaedic information to the page, and add citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the page will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Mean as custard (talk) 22:21, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

Konkan Railway
Why only Marathi for Konkan Railway? This Railway is in Goa and Karnataka too. Why are you against including Konkani and Kannada in the article? They are the official languages of Goa and Karnataka. Moreover, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Kerala states had participated and had made financial contributions to Konkan Railways while construction. If you have traveled throughout the length of Konkan Railway, then you will see that Marathi, Konkani and Kannada are used by Konkan Railway in different states. pdh 01:45, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
