I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Eskap, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. - Tiswas(t/c) 15:24, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Globalcom: The Whole Story

[edit]

I'm new to posting information here and was wondering if you are the individual that suggested our company be deleted from the Wiki - Globalcom [1]? We would like to know what criteria you used to exclude Globalcom while the majority of our competitors (some smaller) are still listed. For your information Globalcom is one of a handful of integrated voice and data providers that caters strictly to businesses in the Chicago area. With a customer base of 7000+ business customers and annual sales in excess of 50M we think that Globalcom is a relevant listing for the Wiki.

Globalcom is an interesting company. It's a successfull, growing CLEC in a field which is getting smaller and smaller, as the ILECs merge and merge again. Globalcom has been a legal thorn in the side of Ameritech, SBC and now AT&T for years, and the struggles between Globalcom and these telecom monopolies has helped define the telecom situation in Chicago and the country. We're an important part of that story.

Globalcom is also one of the most successful privately-held companies in Chicago and has been for years. We're an important part of the late-nineties telecom boom and bust story, because we didn't go public, or explode out across the country and therefore didn't implode like so many players in the telecom field.

Yes, it's true most individuals don't know about us, but in Chicago, thousands of businesses depend on us for their telephone and data services.

We're small, but we're profitable and getting bigger. We're also moving into VoIP solutions in a big way. As all telephony moves in that direction in the next few years, we'll be seen as a pioneer in the field of commercializing VoIP to buinesses with solutions that actually work.

We'd like to remain in Wikipedia, and even expand our entry. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Globalcom (talkcontribs) 19:45, 7 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

BKT

[edit]

At first i want to thank you for your kind words, I really appreciate them and I really hope to be helpful. The reason that i wrote an article about BKT is that while i was browsing through the pages i saw an incorrect information about Albanian Banks. Actually in the list of the Albanian Banks was the name of National Commercial Bank, which in albanian language is Banka Kombetare Tregtare (BKT). When i followed the link on that list of the Albanian Banks, i could see that National Commercial Bank was a bank in Saudi Arabia and it has no connection at all with any Albanian Bank. That's why i edited that page and i entered some info about BKT. It was no intention of mine to make any kind of publicity or other, I just wanted the info on that page to be correct. After i wrote that article, i saw that it was proposed to be deleted. Right now i am not sure about the reasons for this proposal and i want to know why. It has to do with the style of editing or something else. I would be very grateful if you help me out on this issue. Best Regards (Aigest 07:06, 24 May 2007 (UTC))[reply]

How do i add footnotes?

[edit]

How can i add numbered footnotes, with a number next to the word and explanations at the end of the document that are hyperlinked with one another? Thanks —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Theopapada (talkcontribs).

Hi - I though that I might answer this, as I was passing by - WP:CITE has a good guide on footnotes etc... Let me know if you need any pointers on top of this - Tiswas(t) 12:59, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A "{{prod}}" template has been added to the article Firm service, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. Re: Matthew Pruden {{{prod}}}

[edit]

Hmm... strange. I didn't find any prior proposed deletion, afd discussion, or csd tagging. Of course, I have been known to be blind at times. :P The article also has no entries in its deletion log. Though, I could just be looking in the wrong place. If you reverted it due to 68.7.70.134's (who, afaik, isn't the creator) reversion of the original prod tag, he almost certainly reverted it due to me accidentally adding the {{{prod}}} tag to the vandalized version of the page, and not the actual page itself (since the page was very recently being vandalized, hence how I found it while on RC patrol). Thus, when I found out that he, too, wasn't just a vandal removing the tag, I made an "oops" edit to add the tag to the *actual* page. Of course, if I'm missing the ball completely and the non-notability of unpublished high school teachers isn't {{{prod}}} criteria, then never mind. Anyway, I'm just curious on this one so I can avoid making you and others do extra work. :P Cheers, and have a good one =) --koder 21:54, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I was referring to [2]. I suppose you could be right that it wasn't intended as an objection to the deletion, but on the safe side I wouldn't assume that. I noticed your "oops" edit but didn't take it as any particular interpretation of the other editor's intent. Anyway, sorry about any mixup. NickelShoe (Talk) 00:32, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you want, delete Crank 2 because I know about it, and I dont care too much if everyone else does, especially since they may cancel the proposed plans.

One thing though, I did cite my sources, 2 of them in fact for just like a sentence or two.

But I am not going to stop you or anyone from deleting, not because i think i can't, but because i dont care that much.

Quotations Part 2

[edit]

Thank you again of course.

I have added some quotes from people who's words enhance what I have already written. I have kept only one quote by Marisol, as it is affiliated with the New York Times. I think the tag box now makes the quoted references as seen as not reliable. If you wish to keep the box, can the wording be changed to just include third party publications...Perhaps taking out the second or possibly third sentence in the box? You have been so helpful to me. Marilyn Frye

[edit]

NickelShoe,

Hi! I just re-applied the LGBT category to Marilyn Frye, because yes, she's definitely a lesbian (her book Willful Virgin includes more than one essay in which she directly states that she's a lesbian -- and I had the random experience of meeting her and her partner a couple of years back, through a "friend-of-a-friend" situation). I also added a few other things! Sorry I didn't respond to your note sooner -- I haven't been on here for a while. -- Hyperjoy7 21:30, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Will do! Might take a couple of days, because my book and I are not in the same place just at the moment. :) -- Hyperjoy7 21:40, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: New articles

[edit]

I read your message on created articles. I realize that is pretty obvious that it has been created when I start it, but what else do you want me to say. Additionally on the Czecholslovakian lugers, I am going on the information I have about the person because it does not say whether the person now lives in the Czech Republic or in Slovakia since the country split at the end of 1992. I will do the best I can on that. Chris 21:43, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Glenn Ulrich

[edit]

I recieved a message that I may have a conflict of interest in the articl. I assure you I am not related to Glenn Ulrich or involved with his company. I am a wrestling fan and a fan of BODYSLAM Wrestling. Glenn is the youngest professional wrestling owner and promoter in the history of professional wrestling. I also found out at the last show that he is a member of the famed cauliflower alley club whose members include Roddy Piper and Vince McMahon. I can get more links for you. I know he has been written about on wrestlingclothesline.com and doiwrestling.com. Please don't delete his article.

Glenn Ulrich

[edit]

OK, thanks for getting back to me. I have never used this before and I dont see a talk option next to evilclown's user id like I see next to yours. How do I contact him? Also, I am not sure what I need to do to get him to undelete the article. Would providing other links to information about Glenn be enough or is there a certain type of informatiomn I should provide? I could change the link from the BODYSLAM Wrestling website that is just about him if that would be better than the general website itself. I have met Glenn and his family at the shows so I know who they are but I am not friends with them other than at the shows. I only know what is said at the shows and written about in the programs or on the web. When I did the article I looked at other wrestler's articles like Harley Race and Roddy Piper and tried to include similar sections. Should I have left out his personal information?

Dark Wind Blowing

[edit]

Hi NickelShoe

The page I created on Dark Wind Blowing has had a subtantial part of the page deleted. Basically, a range of headings students would use to define the text and present an encyclopedic reference of the text as one in a range of literary perspectives on bullying.

It was the same as the page I have creted for Originator: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Originator_by_Claire_Carmichael

I was using the page in the upcoming weeks with my class at school teaching them how to create an encyclopedia entry in Wikiepedia and to leanr the value of research and the power of intertextuality.

Is there any specific reason the headings were removed?

I would like to put them back so I can start with my students tomorrow.

I'm not exactly sure why you've chosen to address me, since I wouldn't know how to create a bot if I wanted to.
