Question
[edit]331dot (talk) 09:33, 16 July 2014 (UTC) hello, this is ellis horowitz. I submitted a draft of a page entitled Ellis Horowitz and was informed that it was reviewed, but I cannot determine what the comments were. My interpretation is that they want more references, but I don't see that specifically cited. You recently left a message on my Talk page, but it has lots of general information, but nothing that I can see that is specific to my draft. I would be grateful for any help you can give me that is specific for what is needed to make my article acceptable. Thanks, ellis Ehorowitz1 (talk) 15:35, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. I saw your participation therein. Would you like to carry Wendy González, a (IMHO) nn actress, there? I have had some bad luck in several nominations lately and prefer to ask help from more experienced people. Thanks. --Why should I have a User Name? (talk) 08:29, 13 August 2014 (UTC)
- @Why should I have a User Name?: Hello. I assume from your message you would like this article listed at AfD. I have done so and you can see the discussion here. If I misinterpreted can you please tell me here. Thanks NickGibson3900 - Talk - Sign my Guestbook 09:42, 13 August 2014 (UTC)
- While it is not against Wikipedia guidelines, I find Why should I have a User Name?'s request here rather troubling. That editor has initiated many AfDs, I think too many, so he is not asking about HOW to initiate an AfD. If he has doubts about whether the article is suitable for an AfD he should have just left the article alone - not initiated what, in effect, is you now acting as his proxy in starting that AfD. [edit]I don't know if you have of experiencing in reviewing articles. I review new articles, mostly from the oldest end of the list. I try not to hurry through the review process. I have reviewed an article and have tagged it for deletion. I spent quite a bit of time assessing the references and found them to prove that the subject of the article is not notable. I am asking you review the article Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Paul Jarvis (author). We can't seem to reach a consensus.

[edit]It may take a few minutes from the time the email is sent for it to show up in your inbox. You can {{You've got mail}} or {{ygm}} template. at any time by removing the
dormant/dead project links
[edit]removing them from the list is a bit like removing red links from main article space - they might not exist - but hey, really to leave them in might encourage newer or not so new users to actually do something... satusuro 04:00, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
- I only removed links to project's like Hobart because the link redirected to Tasmania and Tasmania was already in the list. I removed Darwin because it will always be the same as Northern Territory. Also, creating wikiprojects isn't something I associate with new users - but, hey as you said maybe it could be. NickGibson3900 - Talk - Sign my Guestbook 04:04, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
- Looking at my edits again I really don't see what is wrong - I removed Hobart (it redirect to Tasmania anyway), Rugby (because it is an overall project not an Australia project), Darwin (project doesn't exist and, really what use would it be as Northern Territory covers it all (the NT WikiProject doesn't have a massive amount of pages)), Darling Downs (covered by NSW, never been a discussion about having one). Also Darling Downs was added by a user in February 2014 without consensus. NickGibson3900 - Talk - Sign my Guestbook 04:16, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
- Fair enough - there is nothing necessarily wrong - it depends on how you look at things - I was not trying to be specific about each edit - it is just the issue of whether some of projects are worth reviving or re-jigging sometime in the future - also it is useful for the larger projects history to see where things didnt work - (hence a definite issue about keeping user names of long quit editors who aligned to various state projects) - if they are linked to larger similarly almost dead projects that is fine.. - so really nothing 'wrong' - just a way of looking at the overall project history it is worth keeping things to see where things went or didnt. satusuro 04:42, 23 August 2014 (UTC)

August Blitz
[edit]Hey Nick, I don't know how to find out how many words are in an article so I can put it down in the information in the blitz. Can you help me out? I already tried using the page size thing, but it doesn't say how many words are there. Thanks, Mirror Freak 12:29, 25 August 2014 (UTC)
- Hey MirrorFreak. Can you find the "page size" tool? It is in the left hand bar in tools at the bottom. If you can find it click on it. When the numbers/words come up look at the fifth point. It says: Prose size (text only): 3442 B (604 words) "readable prose size" (those numbers are for my talk page). Where in says 3442 B (604 words). The 604 words is crucial, that is the word count. Hope this helps. NickGibson3900 Talk Sign my Guestbook Contributions 06:04, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for accepting the draft. There were a couple of points you didn't notice, not that anyone will die from it, and we all miss things all the time anyway . One is the large number of embedded urls in it. For me that is normally a reason to push back to the author if I spot it. The other is that the AFCH script version you are using seems not to migrate the draft talk pages, a hangover from the time when drafts were in Wikipedia talk: namespace. It's darned hard to notice that the draft has a talk page in the first place and to move it across. I think the latest rewrite of the script moves talk pages, but I will need to check myself when I have one with a talk page to move.
The overall decision to accept was correct, obviously. Just giving you a nudge to be even better. Fiddle Faddle 08:32, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
- @Timtrent: Thanks for the advice, I only got the AFCH script a few days back so I'm not sure why it didn't move. I'll remember to check next time and I'll check AFC extra carefully. Thanks for the advice, NickGibson3900 Talk Sign my Guestbook Contributions 09:03, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
- I spend my time here learning more and more about our arcane processes. Do, by the way, get yourself the Rewrite version of the script. (I forget how, but it's probably obvious!)
- There's nothing in the Romero article that the community can;t tidy up in the main namespace. It does need a bit of work, but it's an autobiography, so that is not surprising. Fiddle Faddle 09:38, 26 August 2014 (UTC)

Remark
[edit]Hi. I saw your message and I wasn't given 5 minutes to edit my page before the recommendation to delete the article. Based on being Fair or not, I have edited the information to be very close and similar to another bank. Kindly check again, and i'd be waiting your feedback. Kind regards.
- @89.249.209.149: CSCBank When I saw the page it said: This is a test. The standard practice is to speedily-delete tests as they don't contribute to the encyclopaedia. After about ten minutes I noticed that you had expanded the page and I nominated it for AFD. What I mean by that is that I don't think it was notable which is the main policy for inclusion in Wikipedia. To prove notability you need coverage from reliable sources. It will be at AFD for 7 days where users will comment on weather on not they think your article should be deleted. You are aloud to vote once. Also your username breaks the username policy because it promotes a company or organisation. You may be blocked if it is found a breach of the username policy.
