User:Ajrocksalot inappropriately removed?
[edit]I apologize if you aren't the correct person to address this, if there's somewhere else I should be addressing this issue please let me know. As far as I can tell from this diff, the user was removed from the Administrator intervention against vandalism page inappropriately by the bot. Am I correct about this? I did not want to re-nominate the user in question incorrectly. Thanks in advance for your help. -- BeezHive (talk|contribs) 13:39, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Deletion of Algoryx Simulation Phun 2D Physics Sandbox et.al.
[edit]Howdy, I have added references on the Phun 2D Physics Sandbox page, that you marked for deletion. I would appreciate if you could review and respond. Best regards, Kenbon (talk) 16:24, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
I understand and respect your point about verifiability, but it is not entirely easy to define 'what' needs to be verified in this case. There aren't really any claims made on the Phun page, more than that it exists (I'm mainly asking for my own education on this subject). I hope I don't have to verify that Phun 'exists'... The display at IDF is 'not' a press release. Intel choose a handful of applications they think represent "Inspiring Innovation". Though Intel isn't exactly Science coverage, they are in this case independent of the displayed applications. My point is that something displayed like this at IDF should be of enough public interest to have a wikipedia page. Another aspect is that the Phun video at Youtube is one of the highest rated and all time most watched in "Science and Technology", and while Youtube isn't at all a source for verification of anything (that I can think of), this at least shows that Phun is of great public interest. Quick question regarding Titleblacklist
[edit]Just a quick question regarding this edit. Did you want to block titles containing "is.stretched.by" from being created? If so, you'd need to use the regex ".*is\.stretched\.by.*, since the "." means "any character" when used as a regex, so your addition would also block "is-stretched-by" or "isAstretchedAby", for example. It's no big deal either way, of course, and you probably know all this already, but I'm just curious. :) --Conti|✉ 01:08, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Hi,
In the user creation log I just spotted this username that just registered a few minutes. The user also appears to have vandalized today's featured article; see the user's contributions. Would you be able to put a block on this user?

New pages - prodding afding csding
[edit]Hey there! I was going over some new pages and i marked a couple of patent nonsense ones as PROD. I am not sure if that is the best thing to do. I notice that the blueberrypie article was speedied. How should i mark an article for speedy? feel free to RTFM me :P , i have obviously not tried to look it up yet. Titleblacklist again
[edit]Hey, can you explain this edit? I'm a bit confused, since (unless I'm missing something, which very well might be the case) your edit didn't really change the result of the regexes at all. --Conti|✉ 15:20, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm, if you wanted to include punctuation, adding "." isn't the way to go, since "." means "any character" in regular expressions. You could use "\.", but that would only catch "." (Full stop). I don't think there's a way to include all kinds of punctuation without actually writing them all down one by one. --Conti|✉ 15:50, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

DC-8 & 727 page

- I you worked in the airliner industry then the 747 would be called a Whale - the 737 is commonly called a Pig, the 727 a three-holer and the DC-9 a Beercan - the F-16 Falcon for the longest time was called the Viper, and the A-10 is called the Hog - the Manufactures name is what counts and should be used when ever possible Davegnz (talk) 15:52, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Hi NawlinWiki. Unfortunately, your attempt to encourage Davegnz to seek community input rather than engage in disruptive page moving was unsuccessful, and I have filed an RfC/U to gain input from the wider community on the (unfortunately not isolated) incident. Why are you doing this? Reverting it is sufficient, no? Why delete the whole article, then restore it, just to hide simple, childish vandalism? SQLQuery me! 04:07, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
- I'd also ask that you stop doing this. It really is unnecessary. - Rjd0060 (talk) 04:07, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
- Regarding your comment on my talkpage regarding this (keeping it here, in one place is fine, by the way, I watch every page I touch), For instance, here there is no link to a malware site, and, wikipedia as you well know, is not censored. What was the point of doing that? SQLQuery me! 04:12, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
- Looks like the link was cut off the end of that one because the entry was too long. It's usually there. And "not censored" means that appropriately adult topics use adult language and illustrations, not that every page's edit summaries include references to massive etc. NawlinWiki (talk) 04:15, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
- Fair point, however, it's not feasible to remove every edit with a summary that contains some rough language. I'm still not convinced that there is a good reason to be doing this. SQLQuery me! 04:17, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
- Personally, I'm in favor of the deletion, simply because the two links he usually provides (see his recent "edit" to Kim Kardashian if you need reminding). The one link is to his entry at E.D., and the other one (nimp) is to a page that will crash your browser. I'm of the opinion that one does not leave a live grenade (i.e., nimp) where the unsuspecting will discover it. Although, if you ask me, better yet would be the ability to somehow redact those links from the edit summary... Tabercil (talk) 04:52, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
- I'd like to request a cease to the selective deletions also. It's obvious vandalism: Preventing someone from copy-pasting or retyping a link at the cost of doing selective deletions isn't worth lagging the project. Instead of doing this, support and encourage the developers and sysadmins in implementing the newer deletion system. If nothing else, someone'll click on a nimp link only once. Kylu (talk) 06:08, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
- If I may interject I'm actually quite glad he's doing so in this case. I don't know about you fellows but I'd rather not check an article's history when on my laptop in a public place only to find "HUGE TITS" etc in glaring red on the page for any passerby to notice...--Kung Fu Man (talk) 11:50, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

you deleted this article a while ago. I wrote about the same subject in German (see de:Swarm of the Lotus), and I guess, it's notable enough for English Wikipedia as well. Could you take another look at the article? Protection of article needed
[edit]Hello, NawlinWiki. I noticed days ago that you indefinitely semi-protected the articles Kelly Ripa and Vanessa L. Williams, making it so that those articles will not be unprotected until another administrator sees fit to unprotect them. Well, I was wondering if you would not mind doing the same for the Jesse McCartney article; it gets way more vandalism and really needs long-term semi-protection more so than those other articles. Deletion of Dead Confederate?
[edit]Hello, I was planning on creating a page for the band Dead Confederate and noticed that this had recently been attempted by another user, only to be deleted by you. You claim that the article did not make clear why the band was notable, but if I were to make an article I would be sure to point out they are scheduled to appear on Late Night with Dave Letterman and recently appeared in Rolling Stone magazine's "10 bands to watch". Additionally, Dead Confederate is signed to "The Artists Organization" label, a label created by Gary Gersh, the same guy who once signed Nirvana and Sonic Youth. If I am sure to outline these things in the article, do you think it fits notability standards? Thank you. TheUnionBlood (talk) 04:47, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
Yesterday, an article was created at Michael Hsing, regarding a township councilman and Independent congressional candidate in New Jersey. As it was my view that this individual is non-notable under WP:POLITICIAN, I left a message to that effect on the article's talk page. Today, I went to leave a notice on the talk page of the creator of the article, User talk:Hellokittysun, so that the editor could respond at the article talk page if he/she wishes. At that point I saw your notice, left on August 8, stating that an article about the same person (which had been created by the same editor) had been speedily deleted. Obviously I do not know how the deleted article compared with the current article, but the current article does not resolve the notability issue. I did leave a note for the editor but also mentioned that I am notifying you. I think my comments on the above two talk pages are self-explanatory. Please let me know what you think the appropriate action is. Thanks. Neutron (talk) 22:17, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
- Deleted again, campaign ad. NawlinWiki (talk) 23:08, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, that is what I thought would happen, but I did not want to make any assumptions. I am still a little concerned that the editor in question may read your notice (on his/her talk page) and conclude that if the article is rewritten in a neutral and non-promotional manner, it can be re-created (although I see that another admin has now protected it from re-creation) and remain on Wikipedia. I do not think this is the case, because unless the subject of the article wins the election for Congress (which is very unlikely due to his third-party status), he will remain non-notable, regardless of how neutrally an article about him might be written. I'm guessing that you did it this way because a deletion for non-notability would require a "prod" or AfD and could not be done by speedy deletion. If that is your rationale, it seems reasonable, as the speedy deletion is the most efficient means of getting rid of an article that should not be here for several different reasons. - See WP:BAND for notability requirements for musical groups/musicians. If you'd like to contest a deletion, register an account first then visit WP:DRV and follow the process there. You'll want to note that decisions are made by consensus, and emotional pleas and vote-stacking will not help change the outcome, only logical discourse and adherence to our policies will. Deletion of PrintGlobe, Inc.
[edit]This is a notable company that included legitimate references. There are several comparable printing companies listed on Wikipedia including; Absorbent Ink, Print100, InfoPrint Solutions Company to name a few. I placed {holdon} tag on the article and I would very much appreciate any guidance and assistance you could offer to help make this article encyclopedic. Synapse8(talk)
If the promotional tones are removed and the article is edited accordingly would you evaluate it for possible re-submitting? Thank You, Synapse8(talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 16:39, 23 September 2008 (UTC).
Thank you so much, I will do that. Your help is greatly appreciated. Synapse8 (talk) 16:50, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

Deletion of Brotherhood of Battle
[edit]Well, I created a reasonable article. I made improvements per the request of others. I created a talk page and made a reasonable argument to contest speedy deletion. Instead, the article was deleted nearly three times in less than five minutes, as well as the talk page, without any reference to the argument made. I also made reference to other existing articles which--over the course of their existence--have grown into solid articles. The deletion is contrary to the spirit of the wiki community and I'm frustrated with the haste of the action as it makes it difficult to improve/create organically. Thanks for listening. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cancerstick (talk • contribs) 02:24, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
