Hi Nate - I know that one normally shouldn't link every occurrence of a word, but I added the extra links in that case because the lists read better when every item is highlighted in the link colour. (I just made up a new Wikipedia 'rule'!) --David Broadfoot 15:01, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Archive

"/archive" pages are totally unnecessary. They get picked up by Wikipedia scraping programs and are liable to get spread across the web. Have you never seen article histories? This is the "/archive" version which is just as accessible to editors as if it were in a separate article. -- RHaworth 11:36, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

  • I created it as I was intending to do more work on it and wanted to be able to pull bits of text out and not duplicate them. I know there is a automatic version kept but wanted to be able to remove sections that were never going to be used in a revised version. P.s apologies for the pun... --Nate1481( t/c) 12:08, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

If you want a working version, user:Nate1481/sandbox is a much better title - irritating people like me are very unlikely ever to notice it. -- RHaworth 12:11, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

Removal of Iai(do/jutsu) clubs

Hi,

I spent a reasonable amount of time and effort cleaning up the Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu external links section and organizing the clubs by country so that people interested in learning Iaido could find a club. I noticed on checking back that you had not reversed my changes but instead deleted the entire section containing all the club links that had previously been in the 'External links' section.

I have reversed your removal of my work and moved the links back under the 'External links' section which is where they originally came from before I cleaned them up and mistakenly put them under their own heading. The club list is quite large however so I will make a collapsing table of it so it's not so intrusive.

If you would like to discuss my changes you can contact me at ****@**** (removed to avoid spam)

Regards,

Ian Jones

I don't understand why you keep taking out the BJJ directories. Please advise. Or is it that this an american Wikipedia? bjj.eu.com is not an advert. What a totally peculiar sentiment. It's constant censorship is completely at odds to the Wikipedia spirit of dissemination of information. BJJ.eu.com is the only BJJ directory source in Europe. You have edited it out as a schools directory and as a source for BJJ information. This is a most peculiar censor... it needs to be clarified and of course if once understood your censorship will be accepted. And if you do wish to censor, where would the only European BJJ source be included? —Preceding unsigned comment added by GrapplingArts (talkcontribs) 19:59, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Hi GrapplingArts. Firstly, bjj.eu.com is not the only BJJ directory on Wikipedia servicing Europe. Also, your directory is just a forum, not a real directory, and includes discusison posts. Also, your link did not even point to the directory forum, but to a general list of forums. Other bjj.eu.com links have been deleted for other reasons, including quality. For example, the link you added for "upcoming events" only listed events that has already passed. No it's not an "american Wikipedia". Directories already included cover BJJ schools worldwide. I believe that Nate is trying to further rationalise the list of directories - you can join the discussion on the BJJ talk page. --David Broadfoot 14:14, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Monkey Kung Fu edit identified as vandalism

Hi Nate - Chan Sau Chung is referred to as the Monkey King and I noticed that that had been removed so I re-inserted it. This is honestly not vandalism. I think you made a mistake. Please advise if you think otherwise. CHEERS!!! Debon 23:24, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Sambo conflict

Sorry, my latest Sambo edit wiped out some of your changes to the organisations. Can you redo them? (Why did you delete those organisations?) --David Broadfoot 16:06, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

regarding the message you sent me

One does not have to cite information that comes from first-hand experience. I'm sorry and will try to alter my contribution and resubmit it. The last time I made a correction to the same page and did not cite it there was no problem.--M. Xavier 04:15, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Notability Guidlines

Nate - am travelling at the moment so not much time to look more in depth. However, from what I've seen so far I like the way it is developing. I'll keep and eye on it and contribute when I can. It definately needed to be done.Peter Rehse 15:24, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Not quite sure how to deal with this. More down your alley I think. On November 5th I return to the land of banned Wikipedia. Enjoying it while I can.Peter Rehse 10:47, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

I just posted a short stub on the temp page to replace the original stub that has copyright issues. How do I request that an admin review the situation and make the swap? I appreciate your help with this article. p.s. I also had some trouble coding the last reference so it was a second reference to ref#2 -- For the moment, I've listed the whole ref out again so that the sentence is properly sourced, but if you could help me with what I'm sure is some foolish sytax problem, I'd be grateful. Hi Nate, What is the best way to handle a spam linker like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/91.76.29.15

Usually, when I see a spam link added, I go to the user's contributions page and reverse out all their other spam links at the same time, but there are so many with this perosn spending the last 1.5 hours adding off-topic links to some book for sale. --David Broadfoot 10:04, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

The O2 advertisement tag

Hi. I have noticed that you tagged the The O2#The O2 arena with {{db-spam}} a while back. I am planning to rewrite the section of the article. Although im pretty sure of which bits are blatantly not written from a WP:NPOV, I would like a few other opinions to ensure that it can be rewritten from a neutral point of view. Since you tagged the section, I would be grateful if you could drop a few thoughts at Talk:The O2#The O2 arena written like an advertisement. Thanks. Tbo 157(talk) 17:21, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your input. I have removed some of the parts which sound like advertising but it probably needs a bit more work for compliance with WP:NPOV. Could you take a quick look when you have time. Thanks very much. Tbo 157(talk) 19:00, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

I am disappointed that you reverted my description of the above as a "retail purveyor of raw and cooked meats". Don't you realise that the page is meant to be a satire on such overblown puffery as our Seppo friends have perpped (such as at Ernest Emerson) and all those interminable pages about their sports people? Albatross2147 05:48, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Looks like a sense of humour deficit is "in" this year. Obviously I tried too hard. Maybe I better pick a real no-hoper next time around, perhaps a gravedigger notable for leaning on his spade with meaning, or even a wikipedia editor notable for their lack of a sense of humour and relentlessly dull editing style! Excalibur 01:33, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
How on earth did this Montreal Screwjob get to be a featured article? Albatross2147 23:05, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick response and its nice to see another MMA, BJJ interest out there. Anyways the comment "but Wikipedia is not here to promote any sport just to report it exists and describe it." Wikipedia is here to report something exists or you wouldn't need to have a wikipedia page if noone wanted to learn more about it. Just saying that I dont understand why americantraceurs.com would be removed. do a Control F on the page and American Traceurs comes up quite a bit. Look up Australian Parkour on the page and nothing. I'm not saying remove Australian Parkour, but no need to delete something that is relevant to the article. Also, I'm not promoting American Traceurs to gain a profit. They have nothing for sale, just an informative site for Parkour Traceurs. Hope you understand my view. Best Regards. Figured so. :-) It seems like exactly the sort of funny case that really needs plenty of attention from people who are knowledgeable about martial arts. I tried to figure out how notable the claims were and just couldn't, I just don't know how major the competitions he's won are, for instance. --Stormie 21:39, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Dont know what your talking about please explain?

You left the following on my user page: Quote:

"== October 2007 == Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, we remind you not to attack other editors, as you did on Choi Kwang-Do. Please comment on the contributions and not the contributors. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Also the criticisms section is relevant. Nate1481( t/c) 12:39, 5 October 2007 (UTC)"

ketsugo Jujutsu

The article is there, but is new and apparently not linked in yet. If you type ketsugo jujutsu into the search box and click go. It's not meant to be vandalism, I'm just expanding. Let me just add that you should be really careful with tools like TWINKLE and auto-reporting vandalism. You may want to check out WP:AGF --SaltyDawg 18:04, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

No problem, I didn't mean to imply that you did anything in bad faith. I appreciate your apology and I apologize if you think I was being too harsh. I kind of take it as a personal mission to revert vandalism, so I'm a littel sensitive when I read the word vandalism in response to anything I've posted.--SaltyDawg 13:24, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Shingitai Jujitsu

Please note that your notability debate is flawed. Shingitai Jujitsu was founded by John Saylor. Please note his biography per his website,"John Saylor is a former 3-time National Judo Champion, 2-time Pan American Medalist, and coach of the U.S. National Judo Training Squad at the Olympic Training Center for 7 years. In 1987 Saylor was voted Coach Of The Year by the United States Judo Association. Today he coaches submission wrestling, jujitsu, self-defense, and mixed martial arts fighters at his “Barn Of Truth Dojo” in Perrysville, Ohio."

It's philosophy is best described in the University of Tennessee website about Shingitai Jujitsu: http://web.utk.edu/~utmaclub/juji/history.php. A sampling of additional clubs that teach Shingitai Jujitsu philosophy are:

http://johnsaylor-sja.com/ http://www.welcomematjudoclub.com/ http://asianma.com/jujitsu.html http://www.midohiomatclub.com/ http://www.lawrencegrapplingclub.com/ http://selfdefensecenter.com/umac/index.html http://www.thefightfarm.com/ http://www.westshorejujitsu.com/ http://www.kc.net/~jujit/index.htm http://combatjiujitsu.tripod.com/index.html

I request the page be reinstated. The consensus was based on incomplete information. Ooda 0402 (talk) 06:00, 20 November 2007 (UTC)ooda_0402

Thank you for your response. I understand that notability is not inherited. Please understand that Shingitai Jujitsu is not a club, but a philosophy of jujitsu application and training. The sample of clubs that utilize this philosophy is evidence of the notablity. Perhaps the article listed in the weblink at the University of Tennessee's website would be a better submission to wiki to describe the notablilty of this form of jujitsu in detail. I will look into contacting that author to post it. Ooda 0402 (talk) 03:39, 21 November 2007 (UTC)ooda 0402

Music listing in the article The O2

Hi again and sorry to keep bothering you like this. I have noticed that you removed the music events listing from the article, The O2. I will try to rewrite the section to include just notable events but I just thought I'd point you to the folowing articles of venues from around the world, some of which include comprehensive lists of all performers - Manchester Evening News Arena, Sheffield Arena, Wembley Arena, Staples Center, Earls Court Exhibition Centre. Tokyo Dome and Madison Square Garden. Thanks very much. Tbo 157(talk) 12:03, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Hello. You do realize your recent edit to List of Martial Arts didn't actually "undo" anything I added, yes? Atari400 18:45, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

Nate1481 never said that he undid any of your edits - he reverted six edits done by two vandals, restoring the page back to the last version by you. --David Broadfoot (talk) 23:19, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
Oh wait, I see what happened. Sorry about that. Atari400 00:17, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

ACCS

I had a poke around, and the 5 commenters on that discussion page do indeed seem to be puppets of some kind - one even had a go at tagging Matt Larsen for advert and even AfD (perhaps as some kind of tit-for-tat attack?). -- Medains (talk) 10:57, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

This page is showing up in many categories. Would it still work for your purposes if it was surrounded with <nowiki> tags?--BirgitteSB 22:20, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for taking care of that.--BirgitteSB 19:14, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Moo Duk Kwan

That really was a singularly unhelpful response on the Moo Duk Kwan issue, wasn't it? :) "Please help us resolve a conflict." "Just delete the article." Omnedon 19:01, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
