- The article is about a derogatry descriptive word so is nessasarily negative. The article was created by a consesnous of edditors who consider it to be from a netural point of new.
While i don't have sources to hand, from what I can remember some of Bruce Lee's fight took place in public. do you have any sources to back this up?
>So, you don't have sources at hand? Because there are no sources for ANY Bruce Lee fights. Good luck, if you find them, please share with us.--Bigzilla 06:45, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
- the book "Bruce Lee Fighting Spirit" by Bruce Thomas ISBN 0-330-34930-9 has various accounts of fights, on page 30 it mentions that he was repetedly reported to the police. On page 29 it mentions him fighting in the 1958 boxing championship involving 12 Hong Kong schools defeats the reigning three year champion, Gary Elms. Info from here [1] as for the Hong Kong police, dont' think they have an equivilant of fredom of information so biographical reports will have to do.
To be honest I can't be bothered to dig out sourece for you if you want to belive it it's up to you, even if you only take him as a popular MA flim actor it it quoted as an opinon held by him.Nate1481 17:59, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
Just because u haven't heard of someone dosent make them "Completly Unknown" see google[2] for Jon Bluming.
>I can google Mickey Mouse and get more hits than that, but that does not make Mickey an authority. Maybe you have heard of him, maybe I have heard of him, but the mass majority of martial artist have no idea who he is, unlike Mickey.--Bigzilla 06:45, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
- It was an appropreate example for the context, he is more well kown then many Martial artists, you are however free to disagree with his opinion but saying he is completly unknown is inacurate. My point is that if soemone wants to find who he is then they can. Nate1481 17:59, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
Could you please give sourses of "Mixed martial arts is the worst of all. It is a mess of exagerated stories and claims"
>Could you give me examples of where MMA is not? Myabe I'll change my opinion if you can show me enought that are not "mess of exagerated stories and claims"?
Wikipedia policy is that if you want something in an article you are the one required to produce evidence, you can have whatever opinion you wish.Nate1481 17:59, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
As the modern sport of MMA has been widely televised (Does this count a records?)
>No.
Some MMA coaches can trace there linage (if they claim any) to schools that have produced competative fighters or use their own fight record, considering that MMA is effectively a new disapline this is all the lineage that might be required.
>Then their lineage comes to a grinding halt. That's not all that is required to have a lineage in martial arts, but I guess in MMA you can just make up the rules as you go along, oh wait, MMA is not supposed to have rules because everyone is a tough guy, silly me :)--Bigzilla 06:45, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
- What else is required? Is older/longer linage (so more chance for alteration) nessasealy better?
- Most modern MMA does have rules to protect the competetors, but to allow for diffrent modes of fighting these are kept to a minumum. see the Mixed martial arts article. Most MMA people don't care that much aobut lineage they use their fight record, the complaint is about false claims of lineage and effectiveness, and not about the lack of itNate1481 17:59, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
The comments on qualifications are also probably unjustified as there are martial atist of various styles who contribute to the teaching of MMA unless you can site sources of this it should be removed.
>According to your "bullsh***" article, would not "martial artist of various styles" by part of your so-called "bullsh***" myth? Do these "martial artist of various styles" have authentic lineages? Or are they part of the group that likes to cross certify eachother with Kinko's generated certificates?--Bigzilla 06:45, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
- No i'm refering to the fact you get BJJ, boxing, Mauy Thai, Judo coaches teaching people who compete in MMA BJJ.org has linages for BJJ as to the others Judo as a regulatory body and coaches can trace a lineage to Kano so to various Japanese JuJitsu ryu. Nate1481 17:59, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

YAS
Info not ment to be promotional. Alot of the stuff i'm using is taken straight from the WYMAS article, know some people who wrk with them & hav gathered that it was more a take-over than a merger so was working from there. Nate1481 15:04, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
Articles should be based on verifiable information, so what you've heard from mates, isn't really usable as a source. The tone of the article, regardless of your intentional, was vaguely PR style - with unsourced statements like "Services are controlled from one of the most up to date Communication Centres in Europe" and vague and effectively meaningless ones like "YAS activities are centred around two the core ones of: Accident & Emergency (A&E) and Patient Transport Services (PTS)" - does that differ from any other ambulance services in England? Morwen - Talk 15:09, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
- That part was a direct copy from WYMAS. I've not included any mention that it was more of a take-ove in the article as it's unsourced, however assuming that it was true in the whymas article it would seem logical it is still being used by the expanded service . Welcome to WikiProject Kayaking!
Hi there! I would just like to extend a warm welcome to WikiProject Kayaking. We have lots of open tasks if you would like to help out. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask on my talk page. Cheers, Bennyboyz3000 08:26, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
Nate - please take a look at this. I am not quite sure what to do with it. Its a classic Soke Mill with quite a bit of misrepresentation - dare I say a con.Peter Rehse 02:59, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
Thanks - that is probably the best approach.Peter Rehse 04:43, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
Titles
Nate - I'm not that anal about titles and they are just guidelines but there are instances where it wasn't clear whether it was a title or first name (confusion point 1 - although not obvioulsly with master and grandmaster) or worse way too much variation as to what constitutes what. I think the latter is the reason for the consensus about avoiding the titles. I usually trim the beasts if I have another reason to edit. I have to say there is a real competition between Korean and Filipino martial arts as to the number of grandmasters.Peter Rehse 02:49, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
Excellent work on Wong_Shun_Leung. I appreciate your edits to help get the articel in a state of less then 5+ pastel-shaded boxes! 68.39.174.238 15:10, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
External Links and BJJ
Hi. I've removed the links because no explanation is needed. Those links doesn't conform to the WP:EL policies. They are blatantly not eligible for inclusion in wikipedia and not notable enough for that matter. In fact a lot of other links there should also be removed. I'll be cleaning the other non-conforming links soon but those two strike me as the most obvious to delete without causing controversy. See the boxer article and you'll see how External links are to be handled: no linking to forums, personal sites, blogs, fan sites, etc. The best way to have a site linked in the article is to confirm that it is reliable and notable enough and, better yet, use it as source for something that add values to the article and proper reference it on the references section. Now what I'm not saying is that the links deleted weren't interesting. They are! But they just don't fit in wikipedia. Regards Loudenvier 14:47, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- The funñy thing about it is that when I remade my edit after your undo, I just did another undo then I've cleared the Edit summary provided by the undo function to explain why I was removing the links but inadvertently I've hit enter... What would have you thought if you saw once again another edit by me, removing the same links, without providing an Edit summary? ;-) So I needed to remove another link just to be able to write down the summary. The radio link I left untouched because I did not have the time to evaluate its notability... yet. Regards Loudenvier 15:31, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
Looks like you have your hands full. Not much I can help with. I'ld get some sources - the BJJ article is a little short on those in any case. A little advice (which I usually do with difficult cases) is do your revert at least an hour after they have finished. Best to click on his contributions rather than watching the one article.Peter Rehse 09:38, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
OK I did a bit of editing that might help things out a bit - or not.Peter Rehse 11:10, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
By the by I don't consider waiting an hour game playing. It allows both sides to cool down a tad which I think avoids a major source of edit wars. Certainly works for me. Glad to see the BJJ thing is under control - it seldom is one man against the Neandrathals (oh sorry were talking BJJ <----joke). In the process I tagged the Mitsuyo Maeda article for cleanup - the chronological paragraph format really has to change.Peter Rehse 06:14, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
Don't worry I didn't take it as derogatory. Hey I'm an aiki guy - we evade, redirect and then hammer. Cheers Peter Rehse 00:06, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
I just submitted the article for Featured Article status - great if you could provide a bit of help for the final push.Peter Rehse 03:04, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the effort - of course I expect a massive revert when next he logs on. Cheers.Peter Rehse 08:56, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
Nate - you need to get an admin on board for the BL problem.Peter Rehse 09:38, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
Barry Ley and Blaggers articles
Hello, I noticed your interest in the B. Ley and Blaggers articles which I suspect of being mostly advertisements for Ley and his book. I'm pretty new at this wikipedia thing but I was wondering if you were interested in keeping some pressure on these pages to provide sources, as you seem to have done in the past? Or whatever the appropriate protocol for these things is. For starters I'm replacing the tags in the Ley article that you placed and were removed by DrParkes, who recently borderline vandalised the BJJ article with advertisements for Ley, De La Riva, and false info on BJJ's origin (along with replacing all instances of "Japanese" with the Spanish version "Japonese"). If I'm maybe overstepping things I'd appreciate advice, we seem to have similar interests. FlowWTG 15:58, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
More info about this subject
- This was posted on my talk page while I was blocked as a reminder to post it here afterwards... here I go
Well, I've found some strange things. I went to inspect this book entry on amazon. I've found only good reviews, all looking the same, with the same written style. Strange... But stranger yet is the surname of two such reviewers: Parkes... Hum... Remember DrParkes? Now the links for the reviewers:
I think this DrParkes is a spammer, perhaps he is even Barry Ley himself... Too much coincidence. Wikipedia is not promotional media. I think his autobiographic article should be deleted or heavily changed. He also fails to state that he is Bisexual as he states in the end of the book (just read the amazon.com reviews). Regards Loudenvier 17:39, 13 March 2007 (UTC) How could this be a best seller if its amazon sales rank is #1,480,420 in books? Best Judo from Isao Inokuma, never an internation best-seller ranks an order of magnitude better at #174,665. Dom Casmurro, by Machado de Assis, a brazillian book still fares better than the international bestseller blaggers... I will change that when my block expires (ridiculous block!)
Also Barry Ley is a BJJ blue belt!!! He is a blue belt! He talks like he was one of the best BJJ in the world. He still has many years until he is able to wear a black belt. Unless his teachers are lenient and irresponsible. Here in Rio at a Gracie academy he would hardly earn a purple belt in one or two years from now. Overseas BJJ progression is much easier because the professors do not want to loose students because BJJ is too hard... But believe me, BJJ is too hard... A black belt is an enormous prize... See the youtube channel for him: [3] Loudenvier 18:01, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- I have moved this conversation to Barry Ley and Blaggers pages, let's talk there so that any editor analyzing there notability will learn from our conversation. Regards Loudenvier 20:27, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
Barry Ley nomination
FYI I have nominated Barry Ley for deletion Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Barry Ley. You can vote and post resonings there if you wish. Regards 15:58, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Hey man, this is wallywombat. Iv got a very strong emotional connection with Wikipedias selfharm page, and iv contributed an image. Someone keeps on deleted my hard work for no aparent reason, can you please take action? thanks, Wally :)
Judo kudos
I see that you and Loudenvier have been working on the Judo page. Looks very good. Your improvements are appreciated by the readers (at least by me). Spoxjox 16:34, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Interests...
Hi Nate. By reading your user page I discovered that we share a lot of things in common! Nice to know that. We both read Asimov, we both are martial artist (although this term is completely misleading since nor BJJ or Judo are martial arts, in fact there may not be many martial arts today, maybe Krav ma ga, or some other military systems...). Now that we were able to prevent harm to the BJJ page, just take a look at the Mitsuyo Maeda page, you will certainly like the complete rewrite I and a few wikipedians have done. Regards Loudenvier 17:40, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
Wrestling \ Grappling
Not a big deal. I didn't understand the scope of the grappling article when I first stopped by the article. After hearing these new perceptions about the word grappling, it was not my place to say if the scope of the grappling article was right or not. So as our argument magnified, I realized the work and effort I was putting into the research of grappling was better suited for the wrestling article. Penciljunk 13:07, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Judo modifications
I reverted one of your changes and redid the descriptions to (hopefully) reduce redundancy. The reason I reverted is as follows: I like the pretty graphic, which conveys the info succinctly. However, not everyone will be able to see the graphic. Some will also have trouble recognizing the colors, since color monitors vary widely, and some will be colorblind. If the graphic is their only source for knowing the colors, they're out of luck. For that reason, I think the written description is important. However, I redid it so it's less verbose and the Senior descriptions for USJF and USJA are combined. Let me know if you think that's sufficient. (It's difficult to combine the Junior descriptions in that manner, since the USJA doesn't use the traditional kyu names.) Spoxjox 16:26, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- Now you've got me dinking around on that judo page again...Please! Stop me before I edit again! Spoxjox 18:09, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Keichu Do Page
Can you find the resources to nominate this article for massive revision, since it's now being used as free advertising? I don't want to do it, as I'm already involved enough with KD.
--Scb steve 01:58, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
What are you talking about in terms of advertising?
If you are referring to the list of schools. I was told to list the schools, because if a Martial Arts Organization is wide spread it is a good indication that the Organization is not fraudulent. It was under this guidance, and ONLY this, that the schools were listed. I could take out the street addresses and telephone numbers, that would seem like a decent comprimise to your objection.
I just want to make it clear that they were not added with any thought of advertisement
This came directly from the individual who was responsible for editing it in the first place.
Thank you for your time. Quo tsv 21:43, 06 April 2007 (UTC)
Liuhe Bafa
No need to apologize to me. Its fine. I was just frustrated because this one new user (who has been previously blocked) was back and making the same edits that got him the block in the first place. VanTucky 15:45, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
DrParkes may be back as Jonnytickets
We will have to concede that he does not give up easily :-) I will keep an eye in the BJJ article. Regards Loudenvier 14:35, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
external link to AFW-W on MK Dons page
I've deleted it again. Although it is reasonable to have a "see also" wlink to the AFC Wimbledon wiki article on the Milton Keynes Dons page, it is not reasonable to add an external link to its web site. That is a step too far and completely out of step with wikipedia norms. No other article does it. --Concrete Cowboy 12:17, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
Could you help me write this article?
Hello,
I was wondering if you would be willing to help me write either Seikichi_Iha or Shorin-ryu_Shido-kan. Tkjazzer 21:48, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Lost in translation

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners categorization
Since you mentioned you have some experience with BJJ, can you please help with Category_talk:Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners? This probably needs to be renamed, since it implies people who practice Jiu-Jitsu from Brazil. Then, there need to be subcategories containing the equivalent of Category:Brazilian Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners, including Category:Canadian Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners and others. Maybe rename all Jiu-Jitsu categories to "Jiu-Jitsu (Brazil)" or something similar? --Scott Alter 13:12, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
I am aware of the differences between Jiu-Jitsu and Jujitsu, and that is not an issue. So would renaming all categories of "Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu" to simply "Jiu-Jitsu" be appropriate? Then, "Brazilian jiu-jitsuka" would be people from Brazil who practice Jiu-Jitsu. Simply changing practitioner to -ka makes it sounds better and less confusing. --Scott Alter 16:58, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
