I would really like to see better citation on event articles. If citation can not be found to support the event article i believe it should be merged into a relevant omnibus article, or deleted. In the past, large numbers of articles were marked for deletion in mass which caused quite a bit of controversy. I am going to try to take a slower more incremental approach by taking over this page. What i propose is a 3 step process. Step 1 we have a list of the articles most in need of improvement. Step 2 we nominate 5 articles for improvement here. Step 3 we give those 5 articles 30 days where everyone interested does their best to add external links, build more robust articles, and move those links into inline citations. If at the end of 30 days (when we nominate the next 5 articles for improvement) we will either be happy with all the improvements and not need to take any further action if not we will apply the {{Merge to}} or {{AfD}} templates and let nature take it's course.
Please note that this process does not in any way userp or suspend any other rules or guidelines on wikipedia. If someone wanted, nothing would prevent them from AfDing every article listed below. This is only meant as a way for us to be proactive in improving articles.
