I couldn't find anything about this particular species in my books. However, I did find some info on Arius type fish. In the book they refer to them mainly as "shark catfish". It is very in depth, but doesn't have the specific info for Arius berneyi. If you want the info, message me and I'll copy the important parts with references and message them to you.Drew Smith 00:43, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
- Ok. Here are the main points and references. Keep in mind, I'm directly quoting the book, so don't copy paste anything.
- "Most people regard catfishes as purely freshwater fishes but there are marine and brackish water species as well. Imported under the names Arius seemani and Arius jordani, they are collectively known in the trade as the shark catfishes, and have been a regular, if somewhat seasonal, import over the last twelve years or so. Their common name probably derives from their vague resemblance to sharks when they are swimming."
- Further on is...
- "Shark "cats" are found along the western seaboard of the Americas, from California down to Colombia. Young specimens are imported at about 5-10 cm (2-4 in) in length, and these will love for a while in fresh water, but as they grow they require more saline conditions so in this respect the are ideal for a brackish aquarium. They are gregarious and very active. Don't be tempted to keep young shark catfishes in your community aquarium, even on a temporary basis, while you prepare a suitable tank for them. Athough they will love it, you will find your other fish stocks become seriously depleted and the shark "cats" will have a smile from whisker to whisker."
- And further is...
- "The colour on the fishes becomes more intense if they are in a group and they are more active. Indeed, they are one of the few catfishes that are not nocturnal. Provide a sandy substrate and some rounded peices of bogwood to decorate the aquarium, rather than rocks on which these "naked" catfishes (they have thick skin and no scales) may damage themselves."
- And...
- "They become very listless if water quality deteriorates or water flow diminishes, and, if conditions become too bad, their barbels will start to degenerate as will their fin membranes. Regular partial water changes and maintenance of the filtration system will prevent this. Feeding is not a problem. They like a varied diet and will consume large quantities of pelleted foods, flake (for small specimens), pieces of meat, fish, and prawn, in fact just about anything. The temptation is to overfeed them and you must resist this. Feed on alternate days and only then if the fish does not still have a bloated appearance after gorging itself on its previous meal."
- And...
- "A word of warning: shark cats grow very large. In the aquarium they quickly reach 30 cm (12 in), but at this size they are only one-third grown. The likelihood of breeding them in captivity in home aquaria is remote."
- And...
- "As a tota aside, ariids are also known as crucifix fishes."
- These can be referenced to "The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Aquarium Fish & Fish Care" by Mary Bailey & Gina Sandford. Pages 223 and 224.
- This is about all I've got. If a particular part strikes your interest, message me and I'll send you the rest of that part. I left out only the parts that I didn't think would be appropriate to put on wikipedia, or wasn't really pertinent.Drew Smith 01:59, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of New York City ethnic enclaves
Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know I am glad to be reviewing the article New York City ethnic enclaves you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 14 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. SilkTork *YES! 15:39, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
- Hi. I've put the review on hold until the end of May to give a chance to look into the structure issue. I will keep on eye on it and may make suggestions if needed. Regards SilkTork *YES! 14:06, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Ottoman History
Hi, Mynameinc. I have believed that Wikipedia needed an Ottoman History project for some time now. Thank you for starting Wikipedia:WikiProject Ottoman Empire. Please be assured that I will participate. Anatolian and Balkan history is a great interest of mine. Sorry for being so quick to revert: vexillogical anachronism is a pet peeve of mine, and the Sultanate of Rûm has be subject to some serious tendentious editing over the last months. Once again, nice to make your acquaintance. Please let me know what I can do: I have a good a library. Regards, Aramgar (talk) 04:25, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Orphans and Foundlings Project
Myname since the project was created there has been some debate over the name. There is now a proposal on the table to change it to either Orphaned, fosterees, and adoptees, or Orphaned, fostered and adopted children. Do you object to this? By the way, good luck on the Ottoman History project.Tobit2 (talk) 14:08, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Hey
Thanks for your adoption offer, i accept. But i'm not sure what to do next. I don't even know if i should be writing here in this tone. Anyways, nice to meet you. Talemon (talk) 16:39, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Cumberland
Thanks for taking a look at Cumberland. I'll work on those suggestions. It looks like Cumberland totally re-did its website in the last couple of years, which would explain the dead links. But I appreciate the work on it. Thanks very much!Sweetmoose6 (talk) 01:39, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
Re: GA Sweeps
Just like all other to-be participants that I'm not familiar with, please provide a couple of reviews you have done so that I can evaluate your review skills. The selection should consist of some that you passed and some that you failed. Keep in mind that you do take heat from those people that saw their favourite/frequently edited/created articles demoted. OhanaUnitedTalk page 03:48, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Black Knight Article
I had provided a valid reason for deleting the "Historical significance" section in that article, a reason which I explicitly noted in my edit summary. And the reasons I provided were not just my own opinions, as can be seen on the articles talk page where several users point out how this particular section in the article makes no attempt whatsoever to cite any sources to back up any of the many claims that are made within it, meaning that all of it is 100% original research. If this is not reason enough to delete this section, then I do not know what is. As long as this, or any other misinformation exists on Wikipedia, it will only further propagate the inaccurate portrayal of Wikipedia as a website with information that is based solely on the beliefs and opinions of its users. And it's because of so-called "recent-change patrollers," like yourself, who quickly revert any changes that they deem to be "irrational" without even looking into the issue, or even bother reading the edit summary, that blatant misinformation is kept and even maintained on Wikipedia. –Nahald (talk) 20:51, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

- :: Reply I respect your opinion, but what nobody seems to be able to tell me is "why" these references are not considered to be reliable sources. They seem to meet what could be considered at least minimal guidlines of an otherswise vague and very subjective criteria Ivanhoe610fa (talk) 15:44, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
French Army in WWI article
I copied this from the article discussion, so that you see it. I saw that you added the suggested revision of the first paragraph to the article; okay, but you needed to do a bit of work...for example, I had inserted "x" before problems because I really don't know how many problems there were. You need to really organize this, and give "x" a value. Your chapters on organization then "fit" into this "topic" of the larger subject, but there is more work to do on the battles. For example, what did these specific battles contribute to how the army was operationally reorganized? How did specific battles reflect the change in strategic principles that governed military operations? What role did the new weaponry play in this? Which battles reflected "old" methods, and which ones showed that the army had responded to changing strategies of the Germans, for example; which other ones showed them responding to British shifts in operations and tactics? There is a lot of encyclopedic information on battles in many articles, the who what when where why how of them, but the appeal your article has for me is the " so what...." as it relates to French army operations, structure, etc. --Auntieruth55 (talk) 00:16, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I've removed the speedy deletion tag from Nations Afire. I looked it over and considered it for speedy deletion, but it has claims of having members from other notable bands. I have no objections to an AfD. Who then was a gentleman? (talk) 22:33, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

GA nomination of New York City ethnic enclaves
Hi Mynameinc. As indicated earlier on the review page, I have failed the GA nomination for New York City ethnic enclaves. My feeling is that there are two articles there. A list of New York City ethnic enclaves, and an article on immigration to New York, a nd currently they are merged together uncomfortably. Regards SilkTork *YES! 10:50, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Comment you made
You put a message on my talk page about the welcome template that I had made, and was welcoming people with. It was located in my sandbox, which was moved to a template namespace. When I was done with it, I didn't realize that whenever I changed something on my sandbox, it would change on that user's page. I am very sorry for any trouble that I have caused, and trust me, it was not intentional. GandalftheWise : Talk Page 21:37, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
World of Zoo
I have physical proof of the animals going in the game. The trailer and screenshots are proof. I want to see the list of animals be exepted, and if I need to put where the animal is from (screenshot or trailer) I will. All the zoo tycoon games have lists of animals, so this game should too. —Preceding unsigned comment added by CoasterZooFreak (talk • contribs) 18:12, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
