Hello, Mushroom. According to the deletion logs, you deleted the article HAZMAT Class 1 Explosives under CSD G12 for blatant copyvio a little over a week ago. I just came across a whole series of similar articles, and tagged them for the same, until I noticed that the page I was citing as the source states that the content of the article(s) are in fact "excerpts from the Code of Federal Regulations Title 49 (49CFR) and the "Emergency Response Guidebook""... which would mean that as a government work, it's in the public domain. I have a sneaking suspicion this is the case with the article you deleted as well, so would respectfully ask that it be restored, as it does not qualify for deletion under G12. I may, at some point in the near future, nominate the collective pages for deletion through AfD if they don't get cleaned up, but I'd much like to be able to give the author a chance to do so. I'll send him an email if you agree to this request to let him know of the situation - hopefully he'll come back to work on things. Thanks for your time, and happy editing as always. Deletion detail request

Hi, you deleted Image:YasuoFukuda.jpg. When it was up, it had a link to some sites on the domain the picture was from that were purported to allow use of the photo. Anyway, the site was in Japanese, but do you know what the details were, and under what logic it was deleted? I didn't have the proper encodings installed at the computer i was at earlier in the day so I haven't had a chance to check the statement either, but could you provide me the text of the rational from the deleted image? Thanks! -Theanphibian (talkcontribs) 00:17, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Oh, I see the discussion on the talk page now. Issue was taken care of elsewhere, sorry to clutter your talk page. -Theanphibian (talkcontribs) 06:45, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

pip Thomas

Hi Mushroom,

Why did you delete the entry on Pip Thomas?

Thanks 193.117.37.194 16:20, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

Because Wikipedia has notability guidelines for people, and Pip Thomas doesn't meet them. Mushroom (Talk) 16:22, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

Complaint About Entire Programming Language Listing Deleted

Hi Mushroom: You flagged my entire programming language platform as being spam. Ref: Visual DataFlex I expect that you would delete anything objectionable IN the listing, but leave the important platform information there. I challenge you to google for Visual DataFlex. This is a valid programming language which SUPERCEDED "DataFlex for DOS". I am a programmer in this language, and I take personal offense at you deleting the ENTIRE LANGUAGE from wikopedia. What can we do about this? May I ask your guidance in getting the Visual DataFlex page restored? Maybe together we can work this out. Else: could you refer me to your supervisor? Sincerely, Applause14, Peter. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Applause14 (talkcontribs) 19:23, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

I have restored the article, removing all linkspam and copyrighted text. Mushroom (Talk) 01:02, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

Middlesex Senior Charity Cup

Hi Mushroom. You added an unreferenced tag to the Middlesex Senior Charity Cup because it did not have any references. I am relatively inexperienced on Wikipedia, but I have added some references. Please could you have a look to see whether this is now acceptable, or whether I need to do some more? --Coyets 18:53, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Hena, again

Hi, can you make sense of this discussion regarding use of the "hena" (erhu) by Chthonic (band), at http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:8cR29azZx68J:s8.invisionfree.com/Chthonic/ar/t117.htm+erhu+hena&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=3&gl=us? Someone is giving Chinese characters for "hena," but I can't read them. Badagnani 23:04, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

Here is the interesting line:
In Taiwanese, its popular name is pronounced in "han"()"na"() (Stress on "na", but it's just a kind of modal word). Han() means string.
This seems to be true. Google finds the word on 707 websites, almost all of them Taiwanese, so I guess it is only used in Taiwan. Here's what I found until now:
傳統上以胡琴類樂器領奏,領奏琴師稱為「主弦」、「」、「頭手」,傳統上有「4大件」:殼子弦、大廣弦、月琴、台灣品仔(台灣笛)和「3大件」:六角弦、台灣三弦、洞簫的說法。
  • This website is selling a box set of erhu music called 戀戀弦琴套裝 in Taiwanese, and Formosa Mood on Erhu in English.
  • Another instrument's name has the same characters in it: it is called or (T'ie-hsien zai), and it is described here and here.
Maybe we could ask Taiwanese Wikipedians about it? Mushroom (Talk) 00:43, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Jim Fyffe deletion

Hello,

I was about to edit the page on Jim Fyffe (knowing that it needed work) only to discover that it has been deleted. Having read the original article, I fully understand why it was deleted. This is just to let you know that I will be recreating the article on Jim Fyffe and resubmitting it, along with sources. It will, however be a work in progress and I will be adding content and references over the course of at least several days and, possibly, several weeks. So, please be patient.

Pscampbe 11:42, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for contacting me before recreating the article. I promise I will be patient :) Mushroom (Talk) 11:53, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

Page moves/redirects

Please remember to check for double redirects after you've done a page move - your user page says one fot he things you like doing is fixing redirects after all... There were a number left after your move to Philip Howard (cardinal) yesterday. David Underdown 13:47, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Sorry about that. I moved a lot of pages in the last few days and I tried to fix all the double redirects, but I guess I missed some of them. Luckily there are at least three active bots (User:Alexbot, User:RussBot and User:Scepbot) that do just that. Mushroom (Talk) 13:58, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
I realise about the bots, it was only seeing one of them fix one of the redirects that alerted me to the move in the first place - it does seem that it can take them a while to get round to fixing all the redirects related to a single page (presumably down to whatever list they work off). David Underdown 14:08, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
I think that list is Special:DoubleRedirects. By the way, thanks for warning me. I should be more careful. Mushroom (Talk) 14:11, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Hiren's Boot CD

(The mediawiki team really should add a feature to show if something in your watchlist was deleted)

I do not feel that Hiren's Boot CD was blatent advertising. I do feel that after the reintroduction of that whole list it became like an advertisement, but I do not feel that the smaller revisions were adverstising. Can you tell me what exactly in that article was advertising? Jacques Pirat Talk 22:53, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Nightwish Genre Correction

Hello. I wasn't sure how to leave a message so I left it here. Nightwish isn't symphonic power metal if you actually ever listened to their music and lyrics. Lyrics are similar to Within Temptation's. Here's a source to justify Nightwish's genres: http://rockdetector.com/artist,77642.sm

Whoever keeps putting symphonic power metal should listen to Aquaria or Kamelot since those are bands of that genre. Again Nightwish is gothic metal. Please reply back. Thanks-

Hello i have personally visited and know the sites very well. im not spammer or advertiser. can u please revert ur changes on Marathi (Stateofart 14:19, 18 October 2007 (UTC))

I have retained the only links which im sure of. Please believe me that those are really notable websites and not spams. Marathi newspapers websites top the list of marathi websites and are often gateway to marathi internet sites. The online portals are notable one and other fact tags have been removed and sources are given/ possible pov is removed. (Stateofart 14:40, 18 October 2007 (UTC))

Ok, but please remember that all external links must follow Wikipedia's external links guidelines. Mushroom (Talk) 15:07, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Atheism

atheism = "the belief that God does not exist" <-- There are people who do not believe in God and who self-label as agnostic, not atheist. You might not make this distinction, but other people do. For the source cited in the Watson article, it is best to just report what Watson said rather than make assumptions about how to label Watson. I view your assumptions and use of the label "atheist" to constitute original research. Why not cite a source in which Watson self-identifies as atheist? --JWSchmidt 05:23, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

I have replied on the article's talk page. Mushroom (Talk) 05:48, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Author credentials

What efforts does Wikipedia take in validating information based on the credentials of individuals submitting information? How does Wikipedia prevent plagiarism? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shannon bohle (talkcontribs) 16:50, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Editors don't need any credentials, since any article should be properly referenced to ensure verifiability. Unsourced or poorly sourced information is usually removed. To avoid plagiarism, there are many editors and administrators who constantly monitor new additions and remove any copyrighted content or delete infringing articles. Sockpuppets

Hi Mushroom, these accounts are obvious sockpuppets:

Would it be possible to take these to check user and do some kind of range block? My concern is that more accounts could be created and that it may take up to a dozen edits before being blocked again. Spellcast (talk) 11:20, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Yes, of course. I will make a checkuser request. I have also found the original account of the sockpuppeter: it's User:Random-5000. Mushroom (Talk) 11:22, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Pro Anima article removal

Hi,

May I ask you if what caused the deletion of Pro Anima related article you made today? If you have never heard about this ensemble this still does not mean that it should not be listed in Wikipedia! Believe that if Melodiya (monopolist grammophone company in former USSR) have released thier recordings, this means quiet a lot! And previously to submit the article I have added the reference to List of early music ensembles where you can find many other links to pages that remain empty until now, probably because of administrators like you! Please do NOT delete any article that do NOT fall under your area of interests, but let it to other admins specialized in Classical Music and moreover in Medieval Music, I think they should know much more about really outstanding interpreters on Early Music like Pro Anima.

Hope this helps,

regards,

Early Music

Hi again and thank you for restoring the article regarding Pro Anima ensemble,

One more question: recently I have submitted an article regarding Hortus Musicus and now it is active, but the link to it from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_early_music_ensembles still takes to editing page! How can I change this?

Regards,

aaleksanyants —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aaleksanyants (talkcontribs) 10:25, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi. The article was at Hortus musicus (lowercase "m"), and the link was to Hortus Musicus (uppercase "m"). I have moved the article to Hortus Musicus (uppercase "m"), so now Hortus musicus (lowercase "m") has automatically become a redirect to it. For more information about redirects, you can read the Help:Redirect page. Mushroom (Talk) 10:32, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Juan Pablo Aldasoro's webpage deletion

Hi Mushroom: My name is Constantino Carlos Reyes Aldasoro, my grandfather, Juan Pablo Aldasoro was a pioneer of aviation, he started flying in 1909 and was the first man to fly over the statue of liberty, I think this is of interest for the wikipedia. I created an entry on the wikipedia based on an older webpage I had done myself a long time ago and you deleted it. Since I did both pages I would not consider that any copyrights were violated, could you get it back? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.167.162.22 (talkcontribs) 11:04, November 23, 2007

Yes, of course, but you should send a confirmation of permission to "permissions-en AT wikimedia DOT org", providing a declaration of consent and including the URL of the website (which is http://www.geocities.com/juanpabloaldasoro) and the one of the article (which is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juan_Pablo_Aldasoro). In the meantime I will undelete the article. Mushroom (Talk) 11:12, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Malachy Tallack

Hi there - you appear to have speedy deleted a page I was actively working on earlier with the comment "(CSD A7), was an article about a band, singer, musician, or musical ensemble that didn't assert the importance or significance of the subject.. using TW"

Could I ask that you explain further the reasoning behind this? The article in question was verifiable, and was about a person who is not just a musician but also a publication editor and weekly columist for the new statesman (so as a person is probably more notable than say a band like the pipettes, who have their own personal pages as well as a band page and have only released one album). If you had looked at the edit history, you'd have seen that I had already done several updates to the page since I created it and as such it was a work in progress. Indeed, I was attempting to save more information into the page when it told me that it was deleted.

I would also expect that as an administrator you would have the courtesy to inform me, as the creator of the page, that you were considering deleting it, or perhaps actually giving helpful advice on how to improve the article to your required standard. C2r (talk) 18:24, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

delete question

Hey, you deleted my recent addition of P.D.Q. Bach and Peter Schickele: The Jekyll and Hyde Tour due to copyright infringement. While I cannot disagree with this reason, I modelled this page after currently existing pages on other PDQ Bach albums, all of which could be argued also contain copyrighted information. It's bacically nothing but a list of artists and the tracks of the album. Please reconsider. Thanks. (I know it's my first new page, but I need to start someplace..) Dgeph (talk) 21:34, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

I don't think it can be considered copyvio since lists of data cannot be copyrighted, so I have restored it. Mushroom (Talk) 02:57, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
