Embryonics Project page
Hi. On 1st of March you edited the Embryonics Project page with the two tags copyedit and wikify. As I'm quite new to wikipedia, i.e. only 2 pages written and the first without many comments, I would like to know if you have some suggestions to improve the Embryonics page. Thank you in advance for your response. Tarpedien (talk) 14:45, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
WP:DATE
Is it better to use "onward" or "since 1996"? Dark Prime (talk) 12:29, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
- WP:DATE states:
- Dates that are given as ranges should follow the same patterns as given above for birth and death dates. Ranges that come up to the present (as of the time that the information was added to the article) should generally be given in ways that prevent their becoming counterfactually obsolete, e.g. from 1996 onward (as of October 2007), not from 1996 to the present; "the present" is a constantly moving target. In the main text of articles, the form 1996– (with no date after the en-dash) should not be used, though it is preferred in infoboxes and other crowded templates or lists, with the caveat that they may need to be examined by editors more frequently to see if they need to be updated; it is helpful to other editors to add an HTML comment immediately after such constructions, giving the as-of date, e.g.:
<!--as of 10 October 2007-->
. The form since 1996 should be used in favor of 1996–present in article text and infoboxes.

Farrah Fawcett
So, despite the fact that the documentary about Fawcett Farrah's Story was viewed by 8.9 million individuals the night it debuted and the documentary's popularity increased by 1,888% [1] in the week following her death, she is not important enough to be included in current events? I mean, i know 8.9 million is small in comparison to the total global population, but she was kind of a big deal to a LOT of people. (RFL8188 (talk) 07:49, 1 July 2009 (UTC))
- She is listed at Recent deaths. Portal:Current events has a policy that states:
- Do not list the ordinary deaths of prominent persons here. That's what recent deaths is for. Exceptions to this rule are made for persons of extreme prominence, such as Ronald Reagan, John Paul II, or the Queen Mother.
NPOV
This shows an inappropriate move from "political crisis" to "coup". To use admin tools in pushing a POV has lead to desysops by ArbCom before. I ask you to restore the neutral title instead of this having to go through the next step of in dealing with an inappropriate admin action. Ottava Rima (talk) 20:00, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
- I did not move the article from "political crisis" to "coup". I moved it from Honduran coup d'état of 2009 to 2009 Honduran coup d'état, for consistency reasons. The person who moved it to "coup" was User:Homunq, as you can see here. If the consensus is to move the page back to its original name, you can request the move at Wikipedia:Requested moves. Mushroom (Talk) 04:13, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- Consensus does not apply, BLP does. A coup is a crime and no international courts have made a judgment on the matter. Ottava Rima (talk) 11:57, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
Campo del Cielo
Thank you so very much for catching my errors in the Campo del Cielo article today (23 July 2009). Of course I should have not have added "squared" at the places I did. Writtenright (talk) 22:02, 23 July 2009 (UTC)Writtenright
Campo del Cielo (continued)
By the way, since you seem to be such a bright fellow, perhaps you can tell me whether this sentence (in section 2 of the article) needs editing (and if so, how), or do you find it acceptable as you left it: "The size of the main body is estimated as larger than 4 meters." It seems to me that a simple linear measure is inadequate here. Is the main body estimated as larger than 4 cubic meters or is it estimated as larger than 4 meters in diameter? Question
I am new to Wikipedia and enjoy it very much.. I always have used it as a reference in the past but being able to edit and comment with other users is so fun! Anyways, On my watchlist, I see the name of the article, (diff) (hist) <name> and then (+/- a number) ... what does (diff) and the number mean? And the numbers are green for positive and red for negatives but they seem to be all over the place. Thanks for your help! Tdinatale (talk) 02:44, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
- The numbers are used to allow an editor to quickly determine what an editor has changed on the watchlist by how many charaters or either added or deleted by their edit. If the change is +1 or -1 it is unlikely to be watched as closely as if one show -1638 or even a large removal of information from an article such as -23000. You will soon get the hang of it. Please update your status with WP:VG
Dear WikiProject Video games member,
You are receiving this message because you have either Category:WikiProject Video games members or {{User WPVG}} somewhere in your userspace and you have edited Wikipedia in recent months.
The Video games project has created a member list to provide a clearer picture of its active membership.
All members have currently been placed in the "Inactive" section by default. Please remove your username from the "Inactive" listing and place it under the "Active" listing if you plan on regularly:
- Editing video game-related pages in the Article namespace
- Participating in video game-related discussions in the Project namespace (WT:VG, WP:AfD, WP:GAN, etc.)
Ideally, members are encouraged to do both, but either one meets our criteria of inclusion. Members still listed inactive at the beginning of November 2009 may be removed. You may re-add yourself to the active list at any time. Thank you for your help, and we look forward to working with you.

Dealing with a spammer
I don't understand why you reverted some spam, then ignored my final warning posted two days earlier at the user's talk page, and posted an "only warning". As a result of your not asking for the editor to be blocked, at WP:AIV, he/she spammed six more times on December 3rd before finally being blocked indefinitely. -- John Broughton (♫♫) 18:57, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Please Shed Some Light
Hi! I've got a couple of questions, admittedly a little embarrassed I don't know the answers to.
1) What is the story with the "points system" that follows each edit, and who determines this?
2) I happen to have recently deleted some comments on my personal page. I noticed that this edit incurred a rating of some -2900 points or so! Thing is, I left these comments unmolested on my page for a good six months to demonstrate my own neutrality. I did figure it was about time to remove these out-of-context irate comments from another user who thought I was accusing him of bad faith. How can I archive these comments so that they do not appear on my page, but are saved in a way that shows that I'm not trying to hide any conversations? Any help is appreciated! Thanks! Accipio Mitis Frux (talk) 06:04, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
- Hi! There is no "points system", that number is just the number of characters you added or removed. So if you remove some text it will be negative, however that negative number is not a judgment on the quality of your edits. About talk page archiving, the correct procedure is explained here: Help:Archiving a talk page. Feel free to contact me again if you need more help. Happy editing! Susanna Maiolo
Mushroom if you fully read the article on "Pope Benedict XVI meets and forgives assailant Susanna Maiolo" it clearly states "While at Subiaco she was visited by Pope Benedict’s personal secretary, Monsignor Georg Gaenswein. The Vatican said that the Pope had wanted to show his “concern for her wellbeing”. So the title that I use is correct. Changing it again would be a vandalism against the truth. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.195.56.247 (talk) 20:36, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
- Please read the article fully. She met them both, the pope in Rome and the secretary in Subiaco. The news is that she met the pope. Mushroom (Talk) 20:43, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
- I was referring to the times, it seemed more factual. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.195.56.247 (talk • contribs) 02:00, January 15, 2010

Unreferenced BLPs
Hello Mushroom! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 10 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 329 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

Hi ,
An article about "Trisha Krishnan" has been edited in a very wrong way. Also he is been using abusive & non- sense words. Yes I looked at your edit. Do you understand what a reliable source is? Do you understand what notability is? A couple of references to a MySpace blog, (of unknown authorship) and promotional bumph from record companies are neither. Lame Name (talk) 14:58, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
- Yes I do. That MySpace blog is written by the band itself, so your claim that its authorship is unknown is patently false. Blabbermouth is a notable and reliable source, BBC is of course even more notable and reliable, Candlelight Records is a notable label. Given that the article already has these three sources, adding a fourth primary one is consistent with WP:RS. And by the way when you revert my edits you should keep the improvements I made to the article instead of reverting everything just to remove the MySpace link. Mushroom (Talk) 15:07, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
- Nonsense! I have taken the article off my Watch list as I am not particularly bothered either way. What is of concern is the undermining of the overall quality of Wikipedia by crap articles such as this one. Wikipedia has a requirement for verifiability which is only interested in "verifiability, not truth". Anyone can set up a MySpace page without some verifiable sources we have no way of knowing who they are. Do you think Jimi Hendrix wrote "Jimi Hendrix's Latest Blog Entry" on his MySpace page? The BBC page says "We currently have no biography for this artist." and then refers back to this article. Which is about the measure of this band and this article. Where are the "multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent from the musician or ensemble itself"? Lame Name (talk) 06:03, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
- That MySpace page is confirmed as official because it is linked by the band's official website, their current label's website, and their former label's website, so there is no doubt about the author. I also think the band is notable according to WP:MUSIC (#5 two albums on a notable label, #6 a notable musician). However I'm not saying the article is OK as it currently is, and it is my intention to improve it as much as possible in the next few weeks. I suggest you visit the page again in two weeks or so and if you still think it's crap feel free to nominate it for deletion. I will vote against it but in the end it's not up to me to decide. Why did you revert my edits?
Why did you revert my edits on List of sole survivors of aviation accidents or incidents? I spent several hours researching Google Archives and the ASN database to update this list. There being no article in Wikipedia on specific plane crashes does not mean that these crashes never occured.
Rather than reverting edits, you should take the time to verify yourself, through Google Archives, whether the information I put in is accurate. In the meantime, I cancelled your reversal and I plan on referring to the sources I used to get the information. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 132.204.34.216 (talk) 22:31, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

You should create the page in your userspace, for instance at User:Lexysexy/NAME where NAME is the name of the article, then when it is finished move it to article space. Most people won't edit the page while it is in your userspace, since it is good form not to do so without permission. Mushroom (Talk) 09:34, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

Non-free rationale for File:MFVF5wu.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:MFVF5wu.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. It appears that I accidentally reverted one of your edits, and, worse still, called it vandalism! I have no idea how that happened, at all ... I certainly didn't mean to do that! My most profuse and grovelling apologies; please forgive me! Pesky (talk) 06:16, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

- Thanks! It's my first (hopefully of many). I know it's the oldest excuse in the book, but it's actually not beyond the realms of possibility that I left that page open on history, and a wandering feline trod on my mouse ... I shall have stern words with them! (And, more to the point, remember not to leave pages open on the history tab, with Twinkle available, lol!) I positively cringed with mortification when I saw that – what a horrible shock to wake up to! Pesky (talk) 09:15, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
- Actually I have cats too, so I understand completely. Just the other day one of them sent some incomprehensible, apparently random (but who can tell?) Skype messages to a friend of mine. She probably thought I was out of my mind! Well there's not much you can do to stop the mighty felines – when you're away, the cats will play! Mushroom (Talk) 17:07, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
- You have to love them, though :o) We have one 17-year-old moggie, and two gorgeous Maine Coons, the bigger of which is just a shade under 4ft long, nose-tip to tail-tip, and weighs around 10Kg ... he's a very big cat!

- Also, I was wondering if there was any sort of community I could join or participate in. I do not want something too intensive, but if I could contribute a half hour a couple times a week or so, that'd be a good group for me. I have a decent background, knowledge, and interest in politics, law, and history, so I would prefer if it could relate to something along those lines. Anyways, I just want some way I can feel a little more involved in things. Thanks! --~ScholarlyBreeze~ 01:55, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
- Yes of course! You can try a WikiProject, for instance WikiProject Politics, WikiProject Law, or WikiProject History (more here). You may also find something interesting at the Community portal, which lists various ongoing projects, collaborations and open tasks. Happy editing! Mushroom (Talk) 08:24, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

Article about Radha Thomas
I am currently working on the Wiki page for Ms Radha Thomas. She is an Indian jazz singer and songwriter. In fact, she is known as a diva in the Indian jazz scene. She previously was with the band Human Bondage and has sung and performed globally. The article is still under development. I haven't completed it or submitted it for review yet. You can have a look at it at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Radha_Thomas. I will be requesting your help and advice (as usual) in making it conform to all Wiki standards. If you do a Google Search for Radha (https://www.google.co.in/#hl=en&output=search&sclient=psy-ab&q=Radha+Thomas&oq=Radha+Thomas&gs_l=hp.3..0l2j0i30l2.1190.3159.0.3385.12.12.0.0.0.0.282.1949.0j11j1.12.0...0.0...1c.dYmnNUlMsQM&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=f6ee012440c72a74&biw=1024&bih=509) you will find dozens of articles and links to her work. As of now, the article is still under development and I will come bug you for help soon! Varunr (talk) 06:46, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

Talk:Help on previous page deletion: Ecoute
Hello there, would you please be able to help me ? Previously you have deleted a page called "Ecoute". I would like to create a page with the same title but for a software application. I am not sure I did it correctly as i called it "Ecoute_(application)" and it can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ecoute_(application). Are you able to assist ? Should I delete the one I have created and recreate another one with the simplest title "Ecoute" (and easier to search for readers) ? Furthermore it is the title of the software (as opposed to Ecoute Application). Thank you for your input. :-) Ludopedia (talk) 23:24, 26 February 2013 (UTC)
- Hello, the previous article was about an unrelated non-notable band. I will move your article to Ecoute, it seems the best thing to do :) Mushroom (Talk) 12:43, 27 February 2013 (UTC)

I am a bit converned though because since yesterday there is an IP address (23.23.86.226) that keeps vandalizing the page. Actions for the past 48 hours evidently indicate vandalism (removes all content of the page & by adding sexual content (words) that are out of place and not appropriate with the subject). The source
The source I used does not seem innappropriate to me although of course better known sources can be found to be used as references. My sincere apologies for any trouble I may have caused. That was not at all my intention. Mythic Writerlord (talk) 22:44, 13 March 2013 (UTC)
- Well I think it is inappropriate because it is not a well-established news organization as defined in our reliable sources guideline. The website was created just a few months ago, it doesn't name its editorial staff, and the owner of the site self-identifies as "a journalist in training". Please don't add it back. Mushroom (Talk)
- You seem a bit overzealous. The source isn't really all that bad is it? It can be used to reference some articles. Maybe not when better sources are available but still. Mythic Writerlord (talk) 23:15, 13 March 2013 (UTC)
- PS: The Chris Packham source came from an interview with the man published on that site. Mythic Writerlord (talk) 23:24, 13 March 2013 (UTC)

Accent for Daniela Santanchè
Hi Mushroom,
I spent a fair amount of time trying to figure out whether the accent should be acute or grave. Both versions are attested. Probably I went with acute because a grave accent on an e at the end of a word really looks pretty strange (the single-letter word è has a grave accent, but I can't immediately think of another exception, and all the conjunctions that end in ché have acute ones). Do you have a particular rationale for this choice?
By the way, I asked this question at it:discussione:Daniela Santanchè and never got a real solid answer. --Trovatore (talk) 06:17, 14 March 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Trovatore, here's my rationale:
- The "è" in Santanchè is pronounced /ɛ/. Italian grammar mandates the use of the grave accent for /ɛ/ and the acute accent for /e/ (though, as you can see, not everyone follows the rule — often not even the newspapers!).
- Santanchè's official website, Facebook profile, Twitter profile, and her husband's website all use the grave accent.
- There are some Italian words ending in "è", for instance tè, caffè, bebè, cioè, lacchè, and given names Noè, Mosè, Giosuè.
- The final "è" is quite common in place names in Northern Italy: Almè, Arsiè, Bianzè, Carrè, Cuorgnè, Dolcè, and so on.
- Many surnames from Northern Italy also end in "è": Maffè, Mattè, Bescapè, Germogliè, Caritè, and so on.
- The Santanchè family is from Northern Italy. Daniela's former husband Paolo Santanchè was born in Turin, Piedmont.
- I hope this clears it out. Cheers! Mushroom (Talk) 21:39, 14 March 2013 (UTC)
- OK, fair enough. Glad to have a definitive answer. --Trovatore (talk) 23:27, 14 March 2013 (UTC)

Secondo te un redirect come questo, scorretto in italiano e non attestato in alcuna fonte, va mantenuto o no? Lo chiedo a te, così so come regolarmi in futuro qui su en.wiki.
Mushroom (Talk) 21:55, 7 April 2015 (UTC)

Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins
Hello,
Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. A new user right for New Page Patrollers
Hi Mushroom.
A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.
It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.
If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:47, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Martine van Loon
The article Martine van Loon has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Previous AfD was closed as no consensus only due to lack of participation. Should have been treated as a PROD, so PRODing this now.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ~ Rob13Talk 00:40, 20 November 2016 (UTC)
