Erroneous Information regarding Wycliffe Grousbeck
[edit]- Please note that Mr. Grousbeck disputes that Adam Kilcourse has ever been involved with his Celtics ownership group.

My information
[edit]Believe it or not, the information I have compiled has come from the Trivial Pursuit Millennium Edition PC Game. All the information I have added to Wikipedia is legitimate information. --Mr. Brain 23:41, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
- I didn't say it wasn't; but you still must cite your sources. --Golbez 23:58, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
Nellie Ball
[edit]I don't see anything wrong with saying "Nellie Ball has a fair share of opponents" as opposed to your version ("Nellie Ball has more than a fair share of opponents"). It seems that you're just trying to overemphasis the opinion that Nellie Ball does not work. Can we please just stick to the former version. Next time you change it please explain why. Thank you. Bash Kash (talk) 02:12, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
My apologies, I'm truly sorry
[edit]Sorry about that, my mistake. It just seemed to me at the time that a vast majority of basketball purists have criticized Nellie Ball. Incidentally, though, I must tell you that I originally wrote "Nellie Ball has a fair share of opponents," and at the time it didn't seem strong enough. Now that I look back, it did seem to overstate the case. What I wrote about Nellie Ball is true, though(I did contribute a lot on the article), especially the part about the offense's deficencies and other facts about Nelson and the offense. I ask that this information not be deleted from the article.Mr. Brain (talk) 04:43, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hey, no problem. I appreciate your work on the article, actually. I have seen all your additions though the history of the page. Yes, all of the information you added is indeed correct. One way to ensure that your info does not get deleted is by citing your sources. Also see WP:RS. Cheers, Bash Kash (talk) 05:15, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Error in the "Lead guitarists" category page
[edit]I notice that George McCorkle's name is above Yngwie Malmsteen's name on the page when it shouldn't be. "Malmsteen" comes before "McCorkle." Can someone please help show me how to put Malmsteen's name above McCorkle's? Mr. Brain (talk) 14:59, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
Chuck Schuldiner
[edit]The lead guitarists category is, in many current instances, an outdated one; from a time when a band had one guy who played the leads while the other guy played rhythms. In the case of Schudliner and Death, both guitarists (as the band has always had another guitarist besides Schuldiner) are constantly playing single-note parts, rhythms, and 'solos'. To call Schuldiner a 'lead guitarist' is to call all modern metal guitarists 'lead guitarists'. If he was lead, who was following? A Sniper (talk) 16:42, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
If I remember correctly...
[edit]Well, Schuldiner should be considered a lead guitarist for his unique guitar solos, which were complex, intricate, and very melodic/symphonic yet lightning fast. If I remember correctly, during his time as frontman of Death, Schuldiner primarily handled a majority of guitar solos on all Death's albums. Whoever was Chuck's co-guitarist on a particular album would handle rhythm duties. True, the co-guitarist would get to play solos occasionally (Andy LaRocque on Individual Thought Patterns and Shannon Hamm on The Sound of Perservance as examples), but Schuldiner played the majority of solos. Please do not use styles that are unusual or difficult to understand in articles, as you did in Mike McCready. There is a Manual of Style that should be followed. Thank you.-5- (talk) 04:18, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
Excuse me, but I was just merely spotting a mistake....
[edit]I don't mean to be rude, but under the category "Lead guitarists," I spotted a simple spelling mistake. Mike McCready's last name came before Daron Malakian's name, which was incorrect. Mr. Brain (talk) 04:22, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
I understand your edit was in good faith, but please see Wikipedia:Categorization of people#Other exceptions. Thanks.-5- (talk) 04:28, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Bango (mascot)
[edit]A tag has been placed on Bango (mascot) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Bongomatic 13:31, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Hangon tag on Bango (mascot)
[edit]Just to let you know that there's no need for the {{hangon}} tag on this page as the speedy has been declined. I see you re-added after both the speedy and the hangon was removed. This was unecessary as once the speedy tag was removed the hang on had nothing to apply to. Once a speedy has been declined it is normally not eligable for speedy (see WP:DP#Speedy deletion) so there's no need for the hangon to remain. Dpmuk (talk) 10:41, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Articles for deletion nomination of Curse of Chick Hearn
[edit]I have nominated Curse of Chick Hearn, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Curse of Chick Hearn. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.
Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Tagishsimon (talk) 23:49, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
- Whereas you can certainly find all manner of good references for events happening during the duration of the alleged curse, I put it to you that you will not find any good references for the alleged curse, and so your effort will all be in vain. Still. So long as you enjoy the pursuit, there's no harm done. --Tagishsimon (talk) 00:29, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, sadly a reliable source has been found for the curse, so it looks like the article will stay. I've added said source to the article. --Tagishsimon (talk) 10:34, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Userfication and invitation
[edit]Are you familar with userfication? It is the wonderful way of developing articles with less risk of deletion? You can create any article with [[User:Mr. Brain/NAME OF ARTICLE]] Also, you can retrieve the old articles which were deleted:
The article you created was just deleted?
All is not lost. Here is what you can do right now:
Many administrators will be happy to give you a copy of your deleted article, either by putting it on a special user page for you (a process called userfication) or by e-mailing you a copy.
Once you have the article, you can try to resolve the issues why it was deleted. If you've repaired the article, or you believe the reasons for deleting the article were in error, you can dispute the deletion at Deletion Review. Generally, you must show how the previous deletion(s) were in error, but this is the place to resolve disputes about whether a deletion was wrong. |

Here is the official welcome :)
Hi, Mr. Brain, welcome to the Article Rescue Squadron! We are a growing community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to identifying and rescuing articles that have been tagged for deletion. Every day hundreds of articles are deleted, many rightfully so. But many concern notable subjects and are poorly written, ergo fixable and should not be deleted. We try to help these articles quickly improve and address the concerns of why they are proposed for deletion. This covers a lot of ground and your help is appreciated!
If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the talk page, and we will be happy to help you. And once again - Welcome! Ikip (talk) 03:11, 12 September 2009 (UTC) |
How to retrieve your articles which were deleted
[edit]RE: Definitely interested in having some of my articles retrieved.
You don't need the article rescue squadron to retrieve your articles.
Just ask one of these editors for your article:

If you have problems, or have any other questions, let me know. Okay? Ikip (talk) 03:14, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
- there are four versions of your article which were deleted. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ellen%27s_Stardust_Diner&action=edit&redlink=1 ask one of the admins above for the four copies, if you like. No one "has" your article. Only admins (there are 1600 admins) can see and copy and paste deleted articles, regular editors can't. Ikip (talk) 06:25, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Rocky (mascot)
[edit]A tag has been placed on Rocky (mascot), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}

Antiheroes
[edit]I agree that the character is an antihero, but Wikipedia's standards require reliable sources, not editor's opinions. I'd suggest looking for reviews of the show and see if one refers to the character as an antihero. Edward321 (talk) 04:30, 3 September 2016 (UTC)

I need help creating an article...
[edit]I want to create an article titled, "List of programs broadcast by TNT." That's TNT as in Turner Network Television. There is a list of past and present shows TNT has broadcast on its' Wikipedia page, but I truly think the list of shows needs a page of its' own. Please let me know if you can help me. Thank you. The A&E Network's "Classic" Logo.
[edit]Excuse me for asking a stupid question, but is there anybody out there who can help me retrieve the "classic" A&E logo that the network used from 1995-2008? I've always loved that logo, and I've seen it on Logopedia, but can anyone help me put it on Wikipedia the right way? I would appreciate some help in that regard. Thank you. The Wooden NCAA National Championship Trophy
[edit]Can someone please help gathering some reference notes regarding the Wooden NCAA National Championship Trophy? It's named after legendary college basketball coach John Wooden, and it's awarded annually to the winner of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship. However. I don't see any article about this trophy. In order to create an article, I really need reference notes. Please let me know if you can help me. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. [edit]Hello, I'm Anchorvale. I noticed that you recently removed content from Gary Kubiak without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. [edit]I'm trying to add more names to the template called "Modern liberalism in the United States," because in my opinion, the template is under-populated name-wise. However, I don't see the V-T-E options on the template, so I can't do any necessary editing. I hope somebody can help me fix this problem. Thank you for your understanding & cooperation. [edit]Hello, I'm Meters. I noticed that you made one or more changes to an article, List of sex symbols, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. There is no need to remove a valid ref just because the link does not work. Replacing it with a reference that does not support the claim is a bad idea, and marking that edit as minor is even worse. Please read WP:MINOR. Meters (talk) 02:48, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
Please do not add or change content, as you did at List of sex symbols, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. That source does not say that he was a sex symbol. It says he had lots of sex. Not the same thing. And even if it did say that he was a sex symbol it would not be usable as the Daily Mail is not considered to be a reliable source. See WP:DAILYMAIL. Meters (talk) 04:16, 28 March 2018 (UTC)
April 2018
[edit]Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did to List of sex symbols. This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Stop doing this. You asked about it on my talk page and i explained it to you. We don't care if, as you say, "In my opinion, Gal Gadot, the latest Wonder Woman, should be considered a sex symbol." We care if reliable sources sources say she is. Meters (talk) 03:01, 4 April 2018 (UTC)
- Is there really a need to be so harsh, Meters? With all due respect to you personally, I'm starting to feel like this is getting a little too personal. I hope there's a more peaceful way for us to talk this out. Mr. Brain (talk) 03:42, 4 April 2018 (UTC)
- I'm not being harsh. You are simply not getting the point. You have been warned about it before, and you asked on my talk page and I explained it to you, and yet you keep on doing it. Read the links that have already been provided to you, and add WP:OR to the list. If you keep doing this you will likely be blocked. Meters (talk) 03:46, 4 April 2018 (UTC)
- And there is nothing personal about it. If you understand what the problem is but continue these edits then you are being intentionally disruptive. If you still don't understand what the problem is, then, while you may be acting in good faith, you may still be blocked for making the edits. Eventually WP:CIR will come into play. Meters (talk) 03:54, 4 April 2018 (UTC)

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you add unsourced material to Wikipedia, as you did at List of sex symbols. A user-generated post on IMDB is not a reliable source. See WP:USERGENERATED. It specifically mentions IMDb as an example of a non-reliable source. Meters (talk) 20:15, 5 April 2018 (UTC)
- Meters, instead of the IMDb article, I spotted an article about Vin Diesel talking about being a "sex symbol." The article was courtesy of www.filmmonthly.com. I haven't added it yet. If that's an acceptable source, please let me know. Here's a link. "Vin Diesel Goes X-Rated". Retrieved April 5, 2018. Mr. Brain (talk)
- I'd prefer to see a ref to one of the articles where he is actually called "Hollywood's latest sex symbol", rather than an interview that says he is called that elsewhere without specifying where, but this one is probably good enough. Meters (talk) 03:58, 7 April 2018 (UTC)
- On second look, I would not accept this source. Film Monthly accepts submissions from anyone, and does not edit the submissions. Thus the postings cannot be considered reliable sources. See http://www.filmmonthly.com/about Meters (talk) 04:03, 7 April 2018 (UTC)

Alphabetizing of categories...
[edit]Can someone please help me find a section here on Wikipedia regarding how to make categories are properly alphabetized? Thank you very much. Mr. Brain (talk)
I need a little help, please...
[edit]Well, I took BrownHairedGirl's advice about checking out the Wikipedia "SORTKEY", but I'm still having trouble alphabetizing the category I started on World Series-winning managers. I'm truly sorry to be a pain in the neck, but I'm fighting a losing battle here. I need somebody (NOT me) to make sure the category's properly alphabetized. Mr. Brain (talk)
- As far as I can see, Category:World Series-winning managers is properly alphabetized, by surname. All in order per WP:SORTKEY:
Categories of people are usually sorted by last name rather than first name

Talk link in the signature
[edit]Hi, I have noticed that your recent comments on discussion pages have a signature with a (talk) link which doesn't link to your talk page, but instead to the talk page of the "Mr. Brain" article.
You should fix that, which you can do by going to the Signature section in your Preferences and either
- change
Talk:Mr. Brain
intoUser talk:Mr. Brain
or
- remove the custom signature (by emptying the signature box) and uncheck the "Treat the above as wiki markup" checkbox.
(Starting from your current signature, the first option will result in the same system default signature as the second option.)
Then, make a preview of a comment with your updated signature, and click on the talk link in the signature, to verify that the link goes to this talk page.

Also, when you sign your comments, please use four tildes, so that the signature has a timestamp. Thank you. --Pipetricker (talk) 09:32, 15 April 2018 (UTC)

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Timeline of alternative rock, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Freak Out (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). 2000s decade
[edit]Hi. Your thoughts would be welcome here. Thanks. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 14:47, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for your message. The problem with the actors and entertainers sections has always been where to draw the line. If there ise a website that gives proper coverage (i.e. not just US actors/entertainers) and is authoritative (i.e. its list is based on some kind of factual measure, not just opinions of random people) then we might have a way forward here. Do you have one in mind? --Escape Orbit (Talk) 17:22, 16 October 2020 (UTC)
Well, I have a couple of websites in mind IMDb (Internet Movie Database) and Ranker. Ranker features polls on dozens of topics, including entertainment. But I wanted to run it by you first to see if you would accept those sites as reference points. This way, it wouldn't look like I was going rogue. Mr. Brain (talk) 19:40, 16 October 2020 (UTC)
For whom this message may concern, especially any fellow sports fans who may also be Wikipedia members:
I think some serious editing needs to be done on the page for the following article: Coaching tree. On the article's page, the coaching trees of Bill Walsh, Marty Schottenheimer and Bill Parcells need to be updated. It's been awhile since any updates have taken place. Also, there's a new section in the article talking about Bill Belichick's coaching tree. It is a large and far-reaching one due to the fact that Belichick has been an NFL head coach for a very long time now. Can we please find a way to create a coaching tree for Bill Belichick?
If anyone is interested in helping me, please leave me a message on this talk page of mine. Thank you.

[edit]Coaching tree
[edit]Hi, I left you a message at Talk:Coaching tree#Belichick coaching tree. Thanks! Eagles 24/7 (C) 22:14, 26 December 2020 (UTC)
- I've uploaded a new tree for Walsh, only going through the second generation and adding a reference for it. The previous graphic was not only out-of-date, as you said, but also incorrect. For example, it showed Jim Fassel as a direct "branch" for Walsh, but Fassel was never even an assistant under him. I'll work on ones for Schottenheimer and Parcells and add them to the page shortly. I realize you may be disappointed that I am stopping at the second generation, but anything past that is too massive and overly detailed. Eagles 24/7 (C) 00:46, 27 December 2020 (UTC)
