Love sickness...

Be strong, like Spock... And then perhaps you'd get someone truly deserving... --Nlu (talk) 01:23, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

Aww, dear SWD...

Sweet SWD, I'm so very sorry that we did not get to talk before you actually declared her your love... sometimes rl can get in the way of our communication here :( I'm truly sorry about her reaction, but believe me, there may be little you could have done... it is impossible to have control over the heart of those we love. I can only offer you my friendship, my support and my sympathy in this sad moment. However... unlike me, you know her, so - isn't there a chance that you could give her a big surprise on Valentine's Day, just to give it a try? Sometimes, beautiful flowers and a small poem is all it takes to completely change a girl's heart... A big, big virtual hug to you from your friend Phædriel tell me - 01:42, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

I also want to offer my sincere condolences, I know what you're going through. Rest assured, though, that you will find your true love. Trust me — I'm usually very materialistic, realistic, cynic and sceptic, but even I believe in true love. You'll find it, too. Take care! Cheers, —Nightstallion (?) 08:54, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
Just saw the notice on Esperanza about your problem. I won't say that it will get better soon, but eventually (it may take some time) it will. Don't feel the need to be happy/better/or anything for anyone else. Take the time to make yourself feel better, for the time being make it all about yourself. Hope that you are better. If you need to talk, leave me a message on my talk page.  :) Prsgoddess187 20:19, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

I'm really sorry to hear about that...For what little comfort this may (or may not) give you, I've (two weeks ago) gone through something horribly similar, although, a little better since I wasnt directly involved...Anyway, if you ever want to chat, my talk page is always open. Cheers (remember, there is someone else out there, and you will find her oneday.) Banez 20:51, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

Sorry things are not going well. :( I don't hope to proffer advice, but I do hope that everything works out. I'm sure it will, even if it takes some time. -- Natalya 12:31, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

Pardon my spelling. I saw your recent revert on the article. I was pretty much on the verge of finishing a minor formatting fix of the quote, when I got the little edit conflict box. Nonetheless, go or no go on the quote. --Jay(Reply) 23:20, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for zapping the unproductive comment on my talkpage. I wasn't even aware anyone in Canada disliked me that much ;x

Back to my regularly scheduled talentless pretentiousness :) Adrian~enwiki (talk) 21:12, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

Hey, thanks again for the revert. The funny thing is, that IP and I don't even have any overlapping edit history (I think) -- I can't imagine what their beef is.
I just noticed your talkpage/userpage header RE: lovesickness, and wanted to extend you my support. I don't know what's up in your life, or how it affects you, but I know how similar situations have affected me -- I broke up with my partner of several years some time back, and it's still hard. But humans are adaptable, and faith manages. Don't forget to breathe, and smile every now and then.
We don't really know one another, but I'm around if you ever want to talk or vent. Adrian~enwiki (talk) 01:54, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

Another Esperanzial note...

Hi again Esperanzians! Well, since our last frolic in the realms of news, the Advisory Council has met twice more (see WP:ESP/ACM2 and WP:ESP/ACM3). As a result, the charter has been ammended twice (see here for details) and all of the shortcuts have been standardised (see the summary for more details). Also of note is the Valentines ball that will take place in the Esperanza IRC channel on the 14th of February (tomorrow). It will start at 6pm UTC and go on until everyone's had enough! I hope to see you all there! Also, the spamlist has been dissolved - all Esperanzians will now recieve this update "newsletter".

The other major notice I need to tell you about is the upcoming Esperanza Advisory Council Elections. These will take place from 12:00 UTC on February 20th to 11:59 UTC on February 27th. The official handing-over will take place the following day. Candidates are able to volunteer any time before the 20th, so long as they are already listed on the members list. Anyone currently listed on the memberlist can vote. In a change since last time, if you have already been a member of the leadership, you may run again. Due to the neutrality precident, I will not vote for anyone.

Yours, as ever, Esperanzially,

Quoi?

Your assessment of my edits as vandalism on a page was a misinterpretation of the point I was trying to make. I welcome your comments on how best to make the point on the page or where the best place to include this argument would be.

In particular, "figure skating", "gymnastics", or "diving" are not a sports. Rather they are performance arts because each competition lacks a quantitative basis for scoring. While the event is physically demanding, the basis for success relies solely on the assessment of judges. This "scoring" places emphasis on style and form, which may vary wildly depending on taste and body-type.

Certainly real sports like football do have a qualitative component in the form of referees, their judgements only impact the score peripherally because they do not determine the amount of points given for a specific action. The measure for win/loss or success is based on the quantitative score at the end of the game.

Ergo, my edit, while brief, is not appriopriatelly labelled vandalism, rather a sloppy attempt at including a precise definition of "sport". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.109.161.145 (talkcontribs)

Thank you for reverting within seconds 70.19.66.105's two spam attacks on my talk page in the past few minutes. I just hope that (a) another hasn't been tried whilst I'm posting this; (b) no further attempts will be made; and (c) you're not finding yourself following this spammer around Wikipedia.

McFly

I got an email message from another user who uses Focus Broadband, so have unblocked the range. I'll do a little more work on this. It is possible that the range is divided up by apartment complex served so just keep blocking McFly and we will eventually get all the addresses at that apartment house. Focus Broadband offers broadband services to a number of apartment complexes across the country. I have his address down to a particular apartment complex. (although he could just be in a neighboring residence as it is a wireless deal.) Fred Bauder 16:28, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

OH! Well, that certainly explains it all, doesn't it? As you see, my dear Dave, sometimes, the reason why it may not work is not you - it's in the other person. I hope this has put your mind at rest, at least a little bit. And as I told you before, I have no doubt that a beautiful soul is just waiting for you, and you will find it... and I'm sure you will remember these words when your lives become intertwined and see how happy you are. How do you use Logos...

When you leave me a message, it has the HIM logo. I was wondering how to leave a logo sign on my user page, like the pantera logo, florida gators logo, and the Marlins logo. --Gators222 23:44, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

If you looked at my page, i set up alot of userboxes, the wikistress, and lots of pics and logos. I will do more. They count as one edit so, I think that is cool also. C'ya. --Gators222 01:19, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

Hi. The image Image:Ritsuobi.JPG should include a proper source in it's image desacription. For example "this is the cover of blah blah blah". The specific book should also be actually be duscussed in the article it is included in for it's use to qualify as fair use. I question if the image is actually even a book cover. It is quite strange to see a book cover without any text on it. --Martyman-(talk) 02:40, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

I am happy to let it stay, I would just like for it to be better described and used in a manner better fitting with fair use. If you could follow up on it it would be great. Thanks. --Martyman-(talk) 02:49, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

Hey, David! :D Your new heading tables look very nice (though a bit familiar). ;) Just one thing: Instead of using <h3 style="-moz-border-radius-topright: 10px; -moz-border-radius-topleft: 10px; background: #8FBC8F; text-align: center; padding: 3px;">...</h3>, try <div style="-moz-border-radius-topright: 10px; -moz-border-radius-topleft: 10px; background: #8FBC8F; text-align: center; font-size: 138%; padding: 3px;">...</div>. Thank you!
Hi Moe Epsilon/Archive 7. On behalf of my right eye, I'd like to thank you for giving me your support on my recent RfA. It ended with a final tally of (73/2/2) and therefore I have been installed as an administrator now, and I'm ready to serve Wikipedians all over the world with my newly acquired mop and bucket. If you have any questions, do not hestitate to forward them to my talkpage. Once again, thanks for your support. SoothingR 20:42, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

Karmafist's Election Proposal

I have a request of my fellow candidates, and of the voters -- that all candidates give a vote to every other candidate.

It may seem that this request goes against the idea that leadership and potential leadership of our group should be neutral, a precedent that has been followed since the beginning of Esperanza by JCarriker, but I beg to disagree.

For one, mathematically all votes would be cancelled out, but unlike if we stayed silent, we are showing an affirmation of our support for each other.

To me, that's what Esperanza's about. I've had disagreements with many people in Esperanza, but i'll always support them in some form or another as long as I believe as they'll do the same for me -- as long as we're unified in a belief that kindness can cure the ills of Wikipedia as a whole.

You recently left a comment on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ruin Mist about articles related to the author Robert Stanek. You may like to know that the page on the man himself is now up for deletion; Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Robert Stanek. I avoided merging the two together as I felt that the arguments for deleting the pages on the fiction didn't quite apply to the page on the writer, but thought it best to let you know in case you wanted to participate in this related discussion. To give you a fair shot at my support vote, I added more questions at your RFA. I felt so bad about giving you a oppose vote. :-( They are optional of course and you do not have to answer them but it could help your chances at adminship. Moe ε 06:32, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

No problem, I have answered them now. I fell for your new message trick also :( haha. - cohesiontalk 09:24, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
Glad my answers helped change your mind, just out of curiosity what are your feelings on bv vs test3/4? That question seemed kinda specific, and I have never heard anyone's opinions on it really. - cohesiontalk 19:26, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
Oh, I got these questions from my previous RFA, and I thought those questions were specific enough for true admin material to answer lucratively. Anyways, IMO, the test3/test4 should be used for newcomers that are vandalizing. Although that is sort of broad, it does seperate from the usage of the bv template which should be used on a returning/repetitive vandal or against a user making racial and homophobic slurs. Wait a second... why am I answering these questions? lol Oh well, good luck in your nomination. ;-) Moe ε 19:35, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
Ahh, ok. Yeah, I did think the questions were good, that one was just so specific I thought there might be some issue I wasn't aware of regarding it :D Anyway, thanks for the support and see you around :) - cohesiontalk 19:38, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

24.53.135.46 block request

Did I make an error requesting a block for this IP at WP:AIV? You removed the request mentioning a block in the edit summary, but the IP is not currently blocked. Its block log lists an expired block from a week ago. The user is back vandalizing pages again. Phr 20:02, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

The IP has not stopped vandalizing. See here and here. Phr 20:52, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
Please examine the two diffs that I cited. They are both from today and they are both vandalism ("push it to the limit"). See the edit history of Limit (mathematics) for dozens of reversions of this same vandalism. Phr 21:05, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
I am sorry but WP:AGF does not apply here. There is no plausible way to interpret those two diffs as good faith edits. They are vandalism. WP:UCS. Phr 21:15, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
I don't see how to interpret WP:AGF except "in the absence of clear evidence to the contrary, assume so-and-so's edits are in good faith". Here, so-and-so is that IP address and examining both that person's edit history and the two edits from today both are clear evidence of bad faith. You said to re-list the person if he came back and vandalized today, which he/she did twice. Now you say leave it alone because he/she hasn't vandalized in the last few hours. If he comes back and vandalizes again and I don't spot it within 5 minutes, are you going to say AGF because the person hasn't vandalized in the last 5 minutes? Just how much does it take to say enough is enough? That person has been around for months and has made dozens of edits, and as far as I can tell, every single one of them is vandalous (some RHPS expert will have to check the "Brad and Janet" one). Phr 21:26, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

Anon

Normally I'd agree (and you'll note that I removed the earlier anon [1] saying two vandalisms wasn't enough to block), but this anon just came off a week block and immediately began vandalizing again in the exact same fashion. To me that suggests a static IP, and the same person, who doesn't need four warnings again before a block is handed out. IMO, it's clear that this person is the same one who was blocked for a week and already knows precisely what he's doing and that it's not right. · Katefan0(scribble)/poll 21:33, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

No sweat. ;) I'd rather someone call me on what they feel were mistakes than let me make them again · Katefan0(scribble)/poll 21:39, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
I agree with the above post from Katefan0 and with all due respect to Moe Epsilon, I think Moe's recent comments at User Talk:Phr understates the situation with the now-blocked IP. The person has made dozens of vandalous edits over several months, two clearly vandalous edits today. Keeping that "push it to the limit" plague under control is a huge pain in the neck: while the obvious targets like Limit (mathematics) are easy to keep an eye on, it shows up in other places where it would be easily missed except by checking the contrib history of IP's that propagate it anywhere. WP:COOL and "we're just talking about two edits" doesn't apply. There are hundreds (thousands?) of these edits all over Wikipedia and the people propogating them are sockpuppets or meatpuppets and should be responded to as such. WP:SOCK. (Update: saw Moe's response on Kate's page, am glad it's straightened out now.) Phr 21:44, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

AGF and COOL

Excuse me but I think you need to examine your own actions in this matter. The repeated AIV posts you complain about was because your original removals of those posts were erroneous, as you yourself admitted on Katefan0's page. You did not notice that the person had previously engaged in similar vandalism because you didn't examine the person's edit history as I requested. You repeatedly said the person had made "two edits" when there were dozens. You said to re-add the person if he re-started vandalizing today but you squawked when I did so. Your errors were presumably themselves in good faith but they were errors nonetheless, and I feel that you could engage in AGF more deeply by assuming, when someone reposts an AIV with a request that you review the record more carefully, that the requester might be onto something and so you should actually review the record before removing the AIV post. If you didn't want to act on the AIV, that's fine, but you should not have impulsively taken it down before someone else could examine the record and decide whether to act. Please be more careful and try not to make so many errors. Phr 22:20, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

Saw you listed at Esperanza

User:Jenmoa/stress =( --User:Jenmoa 22:24, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

re: agf

Again, you said to re-add the person if he started re-vandalizing today. He vandalized before he was blocked, the block expired, and he sure enough started re-vandalizing today, so I re-added him. It turns out you meant something different by "re-vandalizing today" and it turns out I didn't guess the correct interpretation. Again, AGF: I did what I thought you said to do. Ultimately, my relisting was the right thing to do, since Katefan0 reviewed the record and blocked the person and you agreed that the block was a correct one. In reviewing the record which you didn't bother to do, Katefan0 acted as a more conscientious admin than you did. As for your feeling unpleasant toward me, well, if you don't want me replying to you, then stop hassling me. This is a pain in the neck for me as well as for you, and it's your lack of conscientiousness that caused this exchange to use more energy than the vandal used. Please try to follow Katefan0's example and be more conscientious in the future. Phr 22:39, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

Heartagram

How are you the "creator of this work"? File:HIM logo.jpg This is as clear-cut a case of copyright violation as I've yet seen on WP. It's the intellectual property and trademark of HIM, which in turn Bam Margera has sub-licensed for a fee. Just because you drew a copy of it in MSPaint doesn't mean you created it, much less have the right to release it into the public domain under the GDFL - what if you did the same to the McDonald's M? You even gave it the filename "HIM logo". There is a tag for "logo" which you should immediately apply to this image. Copyrighted images can only be used on WP to identify the artists and works they belong to, which does not include being part of a WP editor's signature. This is exactly what all the picture licensing controls are designed to avoid. ++Deiz 05:07, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

Any image based on the HIM logo is a trademark infrigement; it is almost certainly a copyright infringement as well. It does not matter how the logo is created; if it is designed to mimic their logo, it is a derivative work of their logo. Such images could only be fair use when used in the band or logo articles. Including it on your user page or in your signature is not fair use. Superm401 - Talk 06:35, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
