List of deceased pro wrestlers

Hello! I just noticed that you took away all of the red links on the List of deceased professional wrestlers page. I linked all of those because alot of users who create wrestler pages do not take the time to find everywhere it needs linked and it is very time consuming to go throught the "Professional wrestlers Category" searching for new additions and then adding links. I figured it would be alot easier for the links to already exist so that it will be linked when somebody creates one of those articles.

I was actually trying to save alot of work. Please let me know what you think. I have not gone back and added them. I would like your input first after you see why I put the red links there in the first place. Thanks!

--- Phatcat68 | Talk 22:26 20 Jul 2005 (US ET)

  • Thanks for the reply! I totally understand what you are saying. There will be alot of red links. Sorry if my working on your page has caused you any hassle. I figure it might be a little harder making sure you don't duplicate any of the names I added. Sorry, man!

By the way, I love the page on the deceased wrestlers. I thought about it a couple of months ago but didn't want to do the work that you have put into it. Good job!

Genichiro Tenyru

I just noticed that you have "Genichiro Tenyru" on your To Do List. I always thought that was the correct spelling but there is an article under Genichiro Tenryu, so I don't know what the correct spelling is. I just didn't want you to go through the hassle of doing it when it is already there.

--- Phatcat68 | Talk 22:37 20 Jul 2005 (US ET)

Thanks for the link! I saw that earlier today and couldn't figure out how to get it. I have 9764 edits! I never would have guessed even half of that!

Thanks, man!

WWE/WWF TV Show Results

I think that is a great idea. It would be really cool to be able to go to a page and see all of the results of the shows. I do think it should be broken down by years though...it would be too much for one page. It may need to be broken down by months or 3 months or 6 months. However you see fit. I would do them if you have the info! Cool idea & thanks for sharing it with me!

--- Phatcat68 | Talk 17:39 21 Jul 2005 (US ET)

Sure, I can help you out with links. I am sure you will do just fine though...but I will check it out and help you out. Have fun making those!
Good job on the Saturday Night Main Event page! I checked it out and was fixing some links but somebody else must have accessed it before I finished so none of them saved. I will check it out later or tomorrow. It really is a cool idea!
That's OK...it's not the first time it happened in my Wikipedia career! I will get back to it. I am finishing up some links for my NWA Southeast Tag Team Championship history right now. That is the first title Arn Anderson won in his career. Anyway, I will get to the Main Event soon enough! Keep up the good work!
Hello SWD316! Good job on you results pages! I have worked on some of the links. I finished the Shotgun Saturday Night links and the Saturday Night Main Event links. Nice pages! You are not bothering me with messages about your updates. I actually wasn't even on here much yesterday...I was busy getting a job! I have been unemployed the last few months and the money finally is running out, so I had to get another job. I was anxious to get back to work anyway and do my part. Anyway, good job on the articles. Also, I noticed on your to do list the wrestler Just Joe...he is done under his real name of Joseph Hitchen. That's one you don't need to spend your time doing. Thanks for the updates! Later!

Phatcat68's To Do List

Hello! The first two lines of my "To Do List" are pro football & old west oriented articles to do. All of the rest are pro wrestling. I do a little bit of "Old West" stuff and some NFL and Major League Baseball, but I have been sticking mainly to doing 1980's era pro wrestling and the title histories of the NWA Titles. That is what I grew up on and the era I still prefer. Most of those are from that era, but a couple may be newer. Anyway, all but the first two lines are pro wrestling and you are welcome to put them on your to do list.

I recognize most of the names on your "To Do List" as newer wrestlers so I probably won't be doing many of them if I come across the info because I really specialize on 1980's era wrestlers. You do have Scott Casey who wrestled in World Class Championship Wrestling, but I don't know as much about the other guys as you probably do beyond basic stats.

Anyway, good job on these results pages! You are welcome to link any of the red links on my "To Do List" that you want to.

WCCW Parade of Champions

Hello! I appreciate you doing the results page for that particular event. It helps alot! It also makes better sense to combine all six into one like you did.

I did a few of the red links on our pages...I can't remember them all but you will see they are now blue. Cool!

Thanks for your help!

--Phatcat68 12:12, July 26, 2005 (US ET)

WWE Hardcore Title

Good job on the WWE Hardcore Title history! That is exactly why I put that on my To Do list because it needed the actual history done. Good job!

Also, thanks for the congrats on the 10,000 edits. I did not even realize I got there yet. Thanks!

--Phatcat68 07:08, July 27, 2005 (US ET)

Velocity Pages

Hey there! Good job on the Velocity pages and the List of professional wrestlers sections. I remember Robbie Brookside from World Championship Wrestling. I don't recognize many of the other names though. I don't like it too much these days...it is funny, I recognized 99% of all wrestlers in the big time or the independents in the 1980's and 1990's but I don't know much about the newer wrestlers of the 2000's. I really have never been a fan of the WWE (I was Jim Crockett Promotions and WCW) so I am glad that you are taking such an interest in doing these WWE articles. I think they are good articles and nobody else seems to be doing much with them these days.

Also, I noticed that some people are being a little rude to you in their messages. Just let it roll off your back. I have had many rude people about things I didn't know I even did wrong until they blasted me. I just answered as nice as I could and they left me alone for the most part. I have really been getting blasted on some discussion pages because I attempt to defend my born-again Christian beliefs, but you just have to not let it bother you and keep doing the best you can. I think you have been doing an excellent job on these pages so don't let anybody keep you from working on them!

--Phatcat68 08:48, 28 July 2005 (US ET) P.S. I am sorry that I have not had more time to help you link the wrestlers on your pages. You are a machine with those pages! Several a day! I just can't keep up!

Good job again! --Phatcat68 08:55, 28 July 2005 (US ET)

Wrestling Rosters & AWA

Hey there! No problem on the AWA Superstars roster. It is kind of confusing since they changed the name a little bit. I did some new wrestlers today so you should have at least one blue link among your red links now. I noticed Extreme Blade on your red links. Elix Skipper once used that name but I don't know if it is the same one or not. Also, I moved the individual current rosters from the Professional wrestlers category and left the List of professional wrestlers link there. It looked very crowded with all of the current rosters there so I figured it would look better to have the link to all of them instead. That way, somebody can click on the List of professional wrestlers and see all of your roster lists. The others listed in the Professional wrestlers category are all of the former wrestlers for defunct promotions or your former WWE employee lists. I hope that makes sense to you after seeing what I did. If not...sorry to mess it up! By the way, good job on the current roster lists! I like those waaaaaaayyyyyyyy better than that list that seemed to last miles and miles to read it all. That is part of the reason I never added any wrestlers I created because it took 10 years to find where they went on that ridiculously long old list. Good job on replacing it!

Later! --Phatcat68 09:18, 30 July 2005 (US ET)

Darren Jowalsen

I think it would be better to put a link to a results page from one of those wrestling archive sites at the bottom of the show's Wikipedia page than create an article which is mostly just copying and pasting.--Darren Jowalsen 19:48, July 22, 2005 (UTC)

I guess this is my little section so I'll just put my comments here. I see you have "Manuel Partida" as the location for the Halloween article. That is not correct. People in Spanish countries usually take the last name of their father and their mother with the father's last name being listed first and the mother's second. "Partida" is actually his mother's last name and when you refer to someone, you almost always refer to them by their father's last name, in this case, "Ortiz." Usually I would say put this under "Manuel Ortiz" but when I looked at that, everything that links there refers to a boxer so to avoid cumbersome disambiguation, put the article under "Manuel Ortiz Partida." Usually I would just put the first name and the paternal surname but we can make an exception here.--Darren Jowalsen 18:39, July 24, 2005 (UTC)

Rude comments in edit history

User:McPhail left some rather rude commentary within the edit history of the Scorpio Sky article regarding our edits. I've dropped him a line expressing my displeasure. Hall Monitor 16:44, 27 July 2005 (UTC)

Wrestler profiles

There's some things I'd like you to change when creating wrestler profile articles.

  • Please change "Finishing and Favorite moves" to "Finishing and signature moves".
  • Also please add metric height and weight when creating those articles. You can easily convert the units with google, just type in "6 ft 2 in to cm". You should also use ft/in instead of '/". See Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers)#Measurements for why.
  • When adding Japanese people please see their prefecture's page, and find the correct city/town article from it. For example I found the city from Miyagi Prefecture for Jun Izumida.
  • Please add the wrestlers whom with the person had it debut match, if that information is available.
  • If possible please double check the data on obsessedwithwrestling.com from another source also. This is because I've encountered some false information on their site. Most notably the date of birth for Mark Briscoe.
  • Please add the title categories as shown in the Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Professional wrestling/to do
  • Could you please research the moves lists and provide links to the moves articles?

Archiving Phatcat68's Page

Good job on the new wrestling rosters! That is cool! I think archiving my page would be a great idea. I have way too many links on it...you are right when you say it is lenghty! However you need to do it...just jump in on my page and archive away or tell me how...whatever is best and easiest for you. By the way, your archived page looks really cool! Thanks for your help! phatcat68 12:48, 31 July 2005 (UTC)

Phatcat Archives

Good job on archiving my page! Thanks for putting a link to the number of edits too! I forgot about doing that! I appreciate all of the hard work you have put into archiving my page. Sorry it is taking so much of your time because I have edited way too many wrestling articles! No problem on the delay with those. Sleep is way more important than my user page! Thanks again! I really appreciate your help with this! It looks way better and easier to navigate now. That is crazy that my wrestling edits archive will have their own archives! phatcat68 11:31, 1 August 2005 (UTC)

Phatcat68 Archives

Hello! I really appreciate all of your work on this. I can finish linking those wrestlers on my "Articles I have contributed to" archives if you want me to. I should do something...you have done alot! Anyway, let me know so I don't start linking them when you are causing an edit conflict. I can finish that so you can move on to your own edits...again, thanks for doing this for me! phatcat68 11:27, 2 August 2005 (UTC)

Phatcat68 Archives

Cool deal! Go ahead with them...I will do some edits on my pages created section that I wanted to do. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!! phatcat68 17:47, 2 August 2005 (UTC)

With as much work as you have put into these Archives, I think it was life and death! Sorry I was interfering with your progress! I really appreciate you doing this. It looks way better and will certainly be easier to navigate. Thanks!!! I owe you! phatcat68 18:42, 2 August 2005 (UTC)

List of Wikipedians by number of edits

Hey! That is pretty cool that I am #161. I never in a million years would have guessed that! It is pretty funny...I quit my job in March and discovered Wikipedia within a week of that. I have been editing like crazy ever since. With no job, I have had alot of time to edit. Never thought quitting a job would boost my editing ranking on Wikipedia!

I am going to get a new job within the next couple of weeks, so I will have no choice but to slow down on here. Oh well!

Thanks again for archiving my pages. I really appreciate it! I remember that anonymous message about my wrestling pages...it was kinda weird because they never signed it. It must have been an old school wrestling fan because that is basically most of the pages I did.

Thanks for telling me about that list of Wikipedians by edit. That was pretty cool!

Phatcat68

Hello SWD316! I appreciate your message asking me not to leave. I also appreciate the praise for my articles, but I really cannot stay on Wikipedia right now. I have always taken my Christanity seriously and I really get aggravated when people challenge it, I prove it and they still bash it even though the facts are right there. I am not taking what people are saying directly to me to heart, it is what they are doing to water down my faith that really is getting to me. I had that issue a couple of weeks ago about Tariq Aziz not being a Christian by what The Bible says and was ganged up on...even by some other people claiming to be Christians. So, I left it alone and put that message on my page about not being involved in it. But I was really bugged that there was no way to put what The Bible interprets as "born-again Christians" in a category, so I thought that if I made up my own category, they could have theirs and I could have mine. But they wouldn't allow that either, so I just cannot stay on a site that makes a faith that has saved my life on numerous occasions, got me out of jams and given me internal peace be attacked like it is here.

I really enjoy working with you on the wrestling articles and think you do an excellent job with them, but I really have to leave. I left my last job because of these types of things. I attempt to stand up for my beliefs and hope that people will be tolerant enough to deal with them. But I am finding that most people who claim to be tolerant are not really tolerant of Christians like me. Anyway, I have really enjoyed working with you and I hope that you will keep up the good work and exceed my number of edits by far! I will keep checking my messages occassionally, at least for awhile. You never know, I may feel the need to come back at some point in the future. If that happens, you will be the first to know. Thanks again for your concern and also thanks for fixing my list of categories I created! --phatcat68 12:29, 10 August 2005 (UTC)

Howdy!

Hello SWD316! I just checked out your revamped user page and decided to revamp mine too. I still don't know if I will come back to editing on here or not. I did get some backup on my Christianity-related articles finally and am praying about whether to come back to fight the anti-Christian Wikipedians or not. We shall see!

I did put my links to do back and saw that 3 of them have been done since I left a few days ago. That is cool! I also saw that you did a very needed category for American professional wrestlers. Good job! I was too lazy to do that because of the amount of work it would take...I was not suprised to see that you were the one who came up with it! I will keep in touch! --phatcat68 00:22, 13 August 2005 (UTC)

SWD316, I'm in total agreement with you. Thanks for coming to my aid in the first place and adding some weight to my line of argument. This guy looks to me like he wants to just make tension, you know, but a lot of peoples backs up and create lots of bad feeling. We don't need people like him (I'm going along thinking it's a him, we can never be sure though can we) in Wikipedia. Give it a few more days, our messages will probably give him something to say. Then I say we give him a block, make it either a week or a month, not permanaent as yet though. I've been involved with Wikipedia for a long time and I've seen this sort of thing happen. If he is simply a guy out to make trouble, a period of time where he can't do anything will put him off coming back, a permanent block means nobody can use the computer he uses to edit Wikipedia and that's not fair on them. One thing though, giving him a link to the page he has already vandalised will give him a simpler way of getting to it in future. Check my comment on the deletion vote here. Protection

Hi, SWD316. I just wanted to let you know that I removed the {{vprotected}} template from your user page. This template should only be placed on protected pages (which means that non-administrators should never need to use it, although they may remove it from non-protected pages). If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page. — Knowledge Seeker 05:54, August 21, 2005 (UTC)

I, too, have removed this template from most of your subpages. I will not revert any further changes, but I want you to know that I strongly oppose use of the templates in this way. ral315 06:15, August 21, 2005 (UTC)
I just removed it from User:SWD316/Archive useful too. Incidentally, I am not sure if you intended the "watchlist" link on your user page to display your watchlist, but it will simply display the watchlist of whoever clicks it. — Knowledge Seeker 06:48, August 21, 2005 (UTC)

RFA

I just wanted to let you know that I removed your nomination from the RFA main page. Oppose votes were only piling on at this point. Don't let this discourage you from either editing or nominating yourself in the future. Try using the preview button when editing and mark your edits with an edit summary. If you do these and wait until your current account is at least three months old, you'll have a more successful nomination. Good luck. Acetic Acid 01:06, August 22, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks.

I see we are doing the updates lol Great job on helping me out with the updates. Its called Team Work :)

Knowledge Seeker

Hi, SWD316. Don't worry about it; I realize you are still new to Wikipedia. I hope you will continue helping out here, and won't be too discouraged by your recent request for adminship. I can be quite tough to be selected as an administrator; the voters can be quite picky. In particular, candidates need to have a good amount of experience on Wikipedia—I'd say the absolute minimum would be 1000 edits, over at least 3 months. Many want more than that. In addition, one has to be very familiar with Wikipedia policies and such. After you are here longer and understand how Wikipedia works, you may want to seek the position again. On the other hand, you may not—many are quite happy with contributing to Wikipedia as normal users, not administrators. Administrators have some extra powers to help keep Wikipedia clean, but a lot of it is maintenance or drudgery. I personally find writing articles far more exciting. — Knowledge Seeker 20:10, August 22, 2005 (UTC)

Phatcat68 Farewell

Hello SWD316! Thanks for helping to keep me out of trouble on my user page. I wanted to tell you that I did some serious editing on the wrestling articles but found some serious issues that I just do not have time for that really bug me. I also found that even though I got help on the Christianity related arguments, we got overruled on them and Wikipedia is still incorrect on it's articles on Christianity. I am leaving Wikipedia. I give you my full permission to create any articles I have not created. I will check my talk page every now and then to keep in touch with you (unless somebody wipes out my viewpoints on my user page-then I will leave for good). I know you guys will be OK without me on the wrestling articles. Have fun & thanks for all of your help! --phatcat68 12:13, 24 August 2005 (UTC)

Yes, I figured something like that out today, and I was about to take it away myself. Thanks for the precisation.

Human Rights Servey on Wikipedia (The final post of I_sterbinski)

Dear all,
Wikipedia was recently a subject of intensive research of an huge international human right organization. A team of people from different nationalities and ages were acting on Wikipedia for 20 days, investigating previously noted anomalities of Wikipedia free editing and forming a final report, which (between the others similar reports) will later be a guide to all future moves of the organization concerning Wikipedia. Acting under an account of a real person, their privacy is to be held private. Therefore, very few private information will be revealed.
Also, this is a result of the lack of final possition of the organization concerning Wikipedia and human rights, which was still not formed.
The team's final post on Wikipedia, where they explain their actions can be found on the following addresses:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:I_sterbinski

The team would like to thank to all the persons who took part in the correspondence with us.
We also want to appologise for keeping our identity secret for a longer period.
Best regards,

I Sterbinski

That's odd...A google search for I Sterbinski Ilyanep shows nothing (however might link to my page due to the message on my talk page)... The guy recently e-mailed me with a long topic about macedonians and greeks and POV on the concerned articles and I told him a few proper venues on wikipedia to help him (through e-mail) and wished him luck. Recently, there was a post by him (anonymous I think) at the VP. So is this now a project or something? I didn't get to read the whole thing, but this seems odd. Wish I could help, but I don't think I can. Maybe their project actually yielded something too... Best wishes. — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 03:48, 28 August 2005 (UTC)

By the way...Your user signature boils my blood. I have been bred with the wikireflex to automatically hate red links. I shall eliminate the red link forever!!! MUOHAHAA! (sorry...had to do that... ;) Hope you didn't take that seriously, lol) — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 03:49, 28 August 2005 (UTC)

We would just like to appologise for any unrest we caused to you. We only followed given instructions and we have no information why you were pointed out as a person to message our final post to.
We are not allowed to keep posting any further comments about our final post and our report, no matter of the intence of the comments it caused and it will cause in future here on Wikipedia. Therefore, we will not be able to give you any further information.
We will point out that no further messages will follow, no matter of your future comments and critics towards us. Actually, critics are highly welcomed by our side.
We appologise again.

it looks like a red link to me! ;)

Although i can tell that it's meant to be creative, i think you should change it back to blue so people know that you really have a userpage..

also, I have a couple of questions for you :-)

  • How do I find out how many edits/contributions I have made without manually counting them on my contributions page?
  • How do I edit my signature that comes up when i type the four tildes?

If you can help me out I'd be very appreciative :) splintax 08:22, 7 September 2005 (UTC)

Lost password

If you've changed the password, it might be difficult to get your account back. The usual next step would be to have Wikipedia e-mail you a new password. However, either you haven't specified an e-mail address or else you have disabled mail from other users. If the former, there isn't much you can do except maybe persuade a developer that you are who you say you are and to have him or her change the password for you. I'm not really sure how one would go about doing that, though. You're sure you changed the password? — Knowledge Seeker 00:39, September 8, 2005 (UTC)

SWD, I got your odd message about my attacking Phatcat68. I can assure you that I have not even heard of Phatcat68, let alone communicated with or abused him/her. A look through the list of [[ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Arno | my contributions]] will confirm this.

I've now located the posting you were talking about. It was not me but some anonymous villain using my name. Phatcat68 has been left a note explaining this. Arno 03:39, 11 September 2005 (UTC)

Arno

Hey SWD316! I just checked my Talk Page and found messages about Arno. I then went to Arno's and posted him a message telling him things were cool. I appreciate you watching my back though! Also, I copied a couple of things to update my user page-your table of favorite things (I am a Steelers fan too-they are winning right now) and the location map. I altered the favorite things a little to suit me (I don't play many video games but I do have an old SuperNintendo system) and that map is really cool. Thanks! phatcat68 18:47, 11 September 2005 (UTC)

Hello SWD316 (David)! I just logged in to check my talk page and saw your message. Sorry that you are leaving too. I agree that there are too many vandals and thickheaded people. Too many of the articles I created have been messed up by them and when I fix them, they just change them back or else it is so much fixing, I just didn't have time. It is kinda counterproductive to have to deal with people like that. I appreciate you calling me a nice user...many others don't seem to think so due to my Christian views! It was nice working with you when we did on those wrestling articles. You were the easiest person on Wikipedia to deal with and it was smooth sailing working on those articles with you! I have found that not being on Wikipedia is less stressful and I have had more time for other things. I actually only logged in this morning because of the Arno thing but I think it is dead now. Arno seems like a pretty cool user. Anyway, good luck with everything you do. If you want, you can email me at xxxxxxxxxxxx@xxxxx.com to keep in touch. (I would appreciate it if you would delete my email address from this message as soon as you get it!). Wikpedia is losing one of it's best editors by you leaving! phatcat68 11:17, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
