Bye Bye Boris

I remember playing that game but I sure have had a heck of a time trying to find it. It was probably on a Reasonable Solutions "Graphic-Less Games" disk. Sarsaparilla (talk) 22:01, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I may still have that game somewhere, on a 5 1/4" disk! If I find it, I'll post it on the Internet. It must have been shareware or freeware. Sarsaparilla (talk) 22:03, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
if it was in fact an important game (as stated in the article), than there should be some information out there. Perhaps the title is in error? -- MisterHand (Talk to the Hand|Contribs) 22:05, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's necessary to make some assertion of importance in order to avoid issues with CSD A7. Importance is in the eye of the beholder, though. Sarsaparilla (talk) 22:06, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with you that this article has problems, but I did see some assertion of notability in that it's asserted he is the author of articles, etc., and thus I have declined the speedy deletion tag that you applied. However, I do urge you to use the PROD tag or submit it for Articles for deletion, whichever you think is more appropriate. I do apologize for substituting my judgment and if you have any questions or problems, I'm at your service on my talk page. Accounting4Taste:talk 22:19, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for understanding, and my apologies for causing you extra work. I'll keep an eye on the article and boot it when its five days are up, if required. Accounting4Taste:talk 22:32, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bloody Hell

[edit]

Just a friendly heads up on Bloody Hell. The article had already been prodded before, and that prod was contested, so it can't be prodded again. Feel free to take it to AfD if it needs to go (which it probably does). --Fabrictramp (talk) 22:49, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

about the deletion of article Apache papa 2.1(Part Scandal)

[edit]

Hello MasterHand,

I saw you tagged my article for fast deletion and it was deleted before I can even write any explanations. What you are stating in your message is because the content is identical to the first article that was deleted. There was a problem with the first article (I got a message from Shoessss about that) and I have reedited the article according to your requirements. Therefore I request undeletion of the article as I don't agree it was identical to the one deleted previously. Please give me some advice how to proceed if I don't get it right. Thanks --Accuse La Banks (talk) 21:49, 18 January 2008 (UTC) Accuse La Banks[reply]

In order to request that a previously-deleted article be restored, please visit Wikipedia:Deletion review and follow the procedure. I haven't done it before myself, but feel free to contact me if you have questions and I'll help as best as I can. -- MisterHand (Talk to the Hand|Contribs) 22:00, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Lg barqs.jpg

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Lg barqs.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 00:04, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Quentin&kit.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Quentin&kit.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 13:01, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Klinton_Spilsbury.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Klinton_Spilsbury.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 16:43, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale added. -- MisterHand (Talk to the Hand|Contribs) 02:58, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've nominated this article for deletion. It still has no sources besides the book itself, and having got hold of a copy of the book, I find that it actually makes no claims to be derived from an authoritative survey, so I see no notability. Since you've edited the article or participated in the old AfD you might like to comment. As there has been confusion about the book's actual content, I'd be happy to back up all the assertions I've made by Emailing you scans of the relevant pages. My opinion doesn't matter. The talk page doesn't matter. What matters is that the sentence isn't referenced. If it can be backed up by a reliable source, we can add it back in. -- MisterHand (Talk to the Hand|Contribs) 16:59, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Template:CATNAME

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Template:CATNAME requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Thanks. --MZMcBride (talk) 01:43, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Restored PROD

[edit]

Hi there - a while back, you tagged AWISSENET for deletion under WP:PROD. After 5 days, I deleted it. Today I received a request from an editor to restore the article, which I did as is customary. I'm just letting you know the article is back up; it presumably still has the same issues that led to the PROD, so if you want to go further then the next step would be to list it for WP:AfD. Thanks for uploading Image:Akaufman1.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:C-3PO's.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:C-3PO's.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Typo redirect 6063 alumninium

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on 6063 alumninium, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because 6063 alumninium is a redirect page resulting from an implausible typo (CSD R3).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting 6063 alumninium, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Image permission problem with Image:Lionell Atwill.jpg

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Lionell Atwill.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Gwnz52 (talk) 20:15, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dear WikiProject Video games member,

You are receiving this message because you have either Category:WikiProject Video games members or {{User WPVG}} somewhere in your userspace and you have edited Wikipedia in recent months.

The Video games project has created a member list to provide a clearer picture of its active membership.

All members have currently been placed in the "Inactive" section by default. Please remove your username from the "Inactive" listing and place it under the "Active" listing if you plan on regularly:

Ideally, members are encouraged to do both, but either one meets our criteria of inclusion. Members still listed inactive at the beginning of November 2009 may be removed. You may re-add yourself to the active list at any time. Thank you for your help, and we look forward to working with you.

You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Non-free rationale for File:World sports competition screen.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:World sports competition screen.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

A tag has been placed on A Christmas Carol (2007 film), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from an implausible typo.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you believe that there is a reason to keep the redirect, you can request that administrators wait a while before deleting it. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Global account

[edit]

Hi MisterHand! As a Steward I'm involved in the upcoming unification of all accounts organized by the Wikimedia Foundation (see m:Single User Login finalisation announcement). By looking at your account, I realized that you don't have a global account yet. In order to secure your name, I recommend you to create such account on your own by submitting your password on Special:MergeAccount and unifying your local accounts. If you have any problems with doing that or further questions, please don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Cheers, —DerHexer (Talk) 17:12, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Barncluith, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

it would make sense to move the page to which this currently redirects (Barncluith, Hamilton) as no other Barncluith currently exist which require the DAB content. (DB-R2?)

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Replaceable fair use File:Richard Bright (actor).jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Richard Bright (actor).jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 00:10, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Straw man (literature)

[edit]

The article Straw man (literature) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced orgional research

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
