Orphaned fair use image (Image:Dkeaton03.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Dkeaton03.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 21:11, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
Tony Sidaway and I are pretty much just arguing for sport at this point. No compromise is necessary. If you want to load up the picture of Saxon tapping on the desk as a seperate image. I will support you. Make sure to title it apropriatly and give it a good rational.--Dr who1975 14:28, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
BTW... is your name a reference to The Kentucky Fried Movie?--Dr who1975 14:30, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
- I guess not.. that was Dr. Klahn ... what am I remebering MisterHand from?--Dr who1975 14:54, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I saw the discussion and got interested enough to get involved. I'm simply not convinced that the image of an actor is a sufficient replacement for an image of a character. Based on other discussions I've seen, I think the jury is still out. It would be nice to see a policy on this (and several other "gray area" fair use questions).
- As for "Mister Hand" I get that moniker from Dark City. It's also a character from Fast Times at Ridgemont High. -- MisterHand 15:30, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Redirect of Bishopper (Fairy chess piece)
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Bishopper (Fairy chess piece), by Voorlandt, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Bishopper (Fairy chess piece) is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Bishopper (Fairy chess piece), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Bishopper (Fairy chess piece) itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 14:58, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
Deletion of Bay Area Environmental Safety Group
Will you also then delete the entry for the American Society of Safety Engineers? I think that's what I used for the template.
- I've reviewed American Society of Safety Engineers, and that article cannot be speedily deleted as it does assert notability as the "oldest and largest professional safety organization". -- MisterHand 16:27, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
How do I find what I wrote for the Bay Area Environmental Safety Group? It's gone. Is there some way I can appeal now that it's gone? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Paulburnett (talk • contribs)
- To contest a deletion, go to Wikipedia:Deletion review and follow the instructions there. I've never gone through the process, but I'll be happy to help you out if needed. -- MisterHand 16:24, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

And final
In the Revenge of the Sith, you reverted my edit where I took off the "and final", since I haven't heard anywhere it's definately the last Star Wars movie to be made, but you reverted it per WP:CRYSTAL. That to me seems a prime example of why "and final" SHOULD be taken out, since it's not reasonable to assume it is the final. After all, it's a very lucrative movie series. On the other hand, it's equally not reasonable to speculate about more movies, because there hasn't been any serious talk of another movie. Hence, the best way to go, I think, would leave speculation of whether or not there's going to be more movies out. After all, it'd be seen silly later on if after Superman IV or Star Trek VI to say there would be no more movies in their universe after those movies. I'm mainly writing because I don't want to start an edit battle. Kevin 17:15, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- I'll concede to you on this. In retrospect saying "and final" violates WP:CRYSTAL but not saying it isn't making a call either way. Good points, all. -- MisterHand 17:27, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- Very good then. Thanks for understanding and for the cooperation :). Kevin 17:33, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Riggle.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Riggle.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. 72.8.104.11 23:16, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
Cancellation
Your recent creation of a dab page at Cancellation is a problem for the philatelic links that now all point to the dab page as do most (maybe even all) of the wikilinks from Cancel. The vast majority of these links are from philatelic topics and now someone needs to correct them all when they were correct to begin with. Most of the non-philatelic wikilinks to these two words are few in number compared to the philatelic links. I think you should have left Cancellation (disambiguation) as it was and add whatever other wikilinks are necessary. An other suggestion would be to add an "otheruse tag" to both the Cancellation and Cancel articles as has been done elsewhere. This change has just created more work rather than less, unless you have some sort of bot to do the job fast and efficiently AND be sure the changes are correct. As an editor deeply involved with the Philately Project and the Philately Portal I hope you will reconsider this action because this was an unwise move in my opinion. I really don't see the point of this change unless it was just change for change sake. Cheers ww2censor 17:30, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- BTW out of about 200 links that were correct, now only 4 link correctly to Cancellation (mail). See what I mean about this not being a good solution choice if there was even a problem to begin with. ww2censor 17:34, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- I am in the process of redirecting everything over. Once it's done, take a look and let me know what you think. The problem I encountered is that there are several "cancel" and "cancellation" articles in a variety of subject areas, and that it was very hard to navigate to those articles without going through several clicks. Now, all the main terms point to one centralized disambiguation page and readers can get to the article they are interested in quickly. Like I said, I am cleaning up after myself so take a look and let me know what you think when all is said and done. -- MisterHand 17:37, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- I hope so. I still think the original Cancellation (disambiguation) was the right place to start from for all non-philatelic wikilinks. You have some work ahead of you. I will await the results!! Cheers ww2censor 17:41, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- Well, the bulk of articles linking to Cancel have now been rerouted to the correct place, with the exception of a few I couldn't edit or wasn't sure what to do with. Some where misdirected, so that's been fixed as well. -- MisterHand 18:26, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- I thought there were more than that, but it looks like you did a good job. If you have any you are unsure about let me know and I will look at them. I just hope that philatelic editors find the correct wikilink and use it. Cheers ww2censor 23:28, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

I messed up on the title for the Phyllis Crawford article, and had no idea how to fix it once the concrete had hardened. I think I understand the way to edit it. Thanks. Mandsford 23:11, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for creating the article! While there is no "rename" function, there is a "move" link associated with every article. Using it moves the article (including the full edit history) over to the new title, and turns the current article into a redirect. Very handy. -- MisterHand 11:33, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Brackenfur
Please stop adding links to the Brackenfur article. It has been redirect to the proper page, and links are unnecessary when that page is already linked to (Or will be shortly, it's still an ongoing project replacing all of the links...). ElectricTurahk 20:49, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
- Looks like we had a bit of work overlap going on. The article was an orphan when I found it, with nothing linking to it. So I did a search and created the appropriate links. At the same time it was turned into a redirect. And so it goes. Thanks for the heads up! -- MisterHand 21:06, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

Image:Guy Goma.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Guy Goma.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sancho 21:34, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Transportable Ferris-wheels in Germany
A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Transportable Ferris-wheels in Germany, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Image:Akaufman1.jpg
I have tagged Image:Akaufman1.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. MER-C 10:28, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
The article clearly meets WP:NOT#INDISCRIMINATE, as it is an "indiscriminate collection of information" (results, in this case) selected from already existing articles. The article was already proposed for deletion. --Angelo 14:11, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks, you're ahead of the ball on this one. Thanks for the follow-up! -- MisterHand 14:13, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
Angie Y.
Unfortunately Angie may be correct in her tagging. The tag does state "If you are familiar with the subject matter, please improve this article by adding citations to reliable secondary sources to establish its notability or by merging it into a parent article.", the articles she tagged unfortunately don't cite the secondary sources to establish notability -- though they're notable for being episodes of their television series. Matthew 15:26, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- I would argue that notability is, in part, determined by coverage by secondary sources. And, as you state, if they're episodes of notable television programs that also contributes. Of course, if there are concerns about a particular article my opinion is that the best approach is to discuss them specifically on the talk page (rather than a "drive by" tagging). -- -- MisterHand (Talk to the Hand|Contribs) 15:36, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

You may not have noticed the explanation in the comments along with the template that you removed. We use this template every week on the article page instead of an {{underconstruction}} tag. This week's article is possibly the most high profile page we have tackled at WP:CHICOTW. It is also one of the more developed pages we have addressed. The arguments may be slightly less germane as a result. However, I believe they still hold. The template will be on the page for about 6 more days, unless we can get a WP:DYK out of this topic in which case, they may remove the template for about 6 hours. Let me know if you would like to discuss further.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 20:08, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

However, rather than going back and forth in the article itself, I've posted a comment on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject. I won't revert further on this template until comments have been gathered from a broader audience. -- MisterHand (Talk to the Hand|Contribs) 20:18, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:David Marciano.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:David Marciano.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use media which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. High on a tree 16:56, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Mysocalledlifecast.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Mysocalledlifecast.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Tubetends (talk) 03:51, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:Nadine Velazquez.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Nadine Velazquez.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

I have tagged Image:Michael_Parks.jpg as {{replaceable fair use}}. If you wish to dispute this assertion, please add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}} to the image description page and a comment explaining your reasoning to the the image talk page. Garion96 (talk) 20:37, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
Image:Richard_Bright_(actor).jpg
I have tagged Image:Richard_Bright_(actor).jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 19:38, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Jay Karnes.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Jay Karnes.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 16:47, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Dvdtalklogo.gif
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Dvdtalklogo.gif.
