Good luck with your RfA!

I know it looks pretty close right now, as a few votes in the other direction could easily swing the vote percentages. I just wanted to wish you best of luck with your RfA, and I really do hope your RfA will pass. Too many people make concerns about experience, and I really don't think that's valid anymore. I made almost 99% of my edits from June onwards, and I successfully became admin just last week. --Nishkid64 00:21, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Heh yeah. I learned a lot about myself during that week of my RfA. What was strange about my RfA was that I didn't get oppose votes based on my inexperience, but more of my response to some negative comments posted by another editor on my RfA page. It totally blew up in my face, and I realized I had to maintain my composure if I wanted to be admin. (and this was the first time on Wikipedia that I wasn't exactly civil) This doesn't really apply to you, but I just wanted to remind you because it happens to all of us. --Nishkid64 00:26, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I didn't know you weren't an admin! I just tossed in my vote as well. Getting my adminship was the toughest row to hoe I've ever been through. There ain't no justice if you don't get your well-deserved promotion. - Lucky 6.9 15:18, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • ROTFLMAO! Yes! You just hit the nail on its exploding head! Lots of folks - myself included - take this whole project a bit too seriously at times. I wish you luck. It's looking good so far. I won by an overwhelming simple majority the first two times I put myself through the wringer; not quite the "consensus" they seek. Yours is looking good. - Lucky 6.9 15:28, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there, hope the RfA isn't stressing you out too much (although from where I'm standing, it's looking pretty darn good). — riana_dzasta wreak havoc|damage report 10:59, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Haseler

I've put my question on my web page, because another person has come and that seems the best place for my question Mike 16:31, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Inara BBS wiki page.

Unfortunately, I was not given enough time to modify the article in question before it was deleted. I was unable to point out how that it is, in fact, remarkable, in this day and age, for a new text based, telnet reliant BBS to form and gain popularity.

For those who are aware of the history of internet discussion groups, instant message, etc, it is obvious why this is significant. Unfortunately, the article I spent an hour writing was gone before I had the opportunity to modify the content. This is AFTER an appropriate link to this bulliten board was deleted from another wiki page, and AFTER I was threatened with permanent ban for puposeful "vandalism."

If this is supposed to be a "free encyclopedia", significance and remarkability should not be decided by one person. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cg2112 (talkcontribs)

The Black Swans speedy deletion

I created a page for the band The Black Swans and recieved a message from you stating that it was tagged for speedy deletion. I want to protest that on the grounds that they are notable because they have done multiple national tours in the U.S. and have been reviewed by numerous prominent music guides such as All Music and Pitchfork. If you could help me out with this, that would be great. Thanks! YoungRed 19:06, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I wanted to let you know that this Dr. Wilson fellow has his recreated the autobiographical article you deleted, not once, but twice: as GODWIN WILSON and Wilson, Godwin. In both of the latter cases, the content is identical, bearing more of a resemblance to a resume than an article. I tagged the 2nd article for wikification, etc., before learning that it was a repost. An AfD has been started for GODWIN WILSON, but so far no one has voted. Can they both be speedied as db-repost? He seems like a decent enough chap, but these are not articles in the strictest sense. ---Charles 19:25, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Are you purposely trying to cause problems?

Dear Merope,

Why did you block the Norbert H. Kox page as a copyright infringement? In other articles there were mentions of Norbert H. Kox on Wikipedia but no "page". I took the time to put up an article page for the benefit of those interested. It took a lot of time and trouble. I have the copyright of the material used and there is no infringement. You have now made it so that I would have to go through much hassle to prove it. I do not have the time to invest, so thank yourself for cheating people out of the chance to read this article. You have wrongfully blocked an article of interest, and it will soon be removed completely from the Wikipedia files thanks to you.

I am going to revert your reverts of my edits. I disagreed with your changes when you made them, but waited to see what other people thought. Congratulations!

Big congratulations on obtaining adminship. I have no doubt that you'll do a great job! As for my trust, you already have it, along with my support should you require it in any moment.

Being an admin is tough, you do all the work, handle all the flames and disputes, and most of the time get none of the gratitude. But often, the most gratifying thing about a thankless job is the job itself. Also you have a sizable group of supporters who value you and will be there to support you should the job ever get to you, which was my concern; I'd hate to lose a good user like you to the hordes of trolls and vandals.

So once again, congrats, and keep doing a good job (because hey, you already were!). Be reading you! Roadmr 16:24, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wreckhouse

hello, i have recently written an atricle about the development of an independent studio not intended for vanity or advertising purposes. the studio i am writing about has gotten acclaim from New York City to upstate New York to New Jersey to Pennsylvania to Georgia to California and has produced many commercials and songs that get heavy radio play on local radio stations and internet radio stations all around the country. With that said i believe that article i written should not be deleted because of the volume of people that inquire about wreckhouse studios every month and your very reputable webside provides them with the perfect medium to obtain that knowledge they seek about our studios. i assure you i will never use the site to advertise or for any vanity purposes and all of the information i have submitted is 100% accurate, but i would like to elaborate a bit more on some of the information. thanks you in advace for your consideration Rudolph Anthony —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wreckhouse238 (talkcontribs)

RE: Re: My RfA

Hi Merope! Thanks for the detailed comment to my participation in your RfA! I stand by my opposition for the most part, as I think that you should've been more aware of your diction and how it was probably perceived in your nomination. However, it seems as if you've been doing a lot of good work in your very short time as an administrator and I see no cause for concern (actions speak louder than words, of course). Plus, you had a lot of support from a lot of Wikipedians whose opinions I value. Given the outcome of your RfA and your work so far, it's quite obvious to me that you can be trusted with the buttons. Re: Dhank's talk page

Thanks for the note. I'll hold off for now.

My rationale is that he is an inactive editor except for his insistence on removing the warnings. His original activity consisted solely of promoting a software project of his (which is why he earned the warnings), and removing the warnings that he earned (which got him more warnings). I know this is in general a grey area. Given the compromise of archiving the contents of his Talk page, and considering his purpose here and consistent antisocial behaviour, I haven't had much sympathy for his pleas to have his page blanked though. Regardless, I'll hold off. — Saxifrage 02:28, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good to me. Now that it's been called to my attention, too, it's easier to see that reverting was becoming more a matter of principle and habit than utility, as he indeed hasn't been doing anything but blanking.
And, tangentially, I grinned when you said "thank you" for being reasonable. As a member of the anti-spam project I've gotten used to bile in response to an instructive message, and I get the same feeling of pleasant surprise when they're reasonable that I detected in your thank-you. Thank you for your gentle tone and for doing these usually-thankless administratorly duties. — Saxifrage 02:39, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of professors

I disagree with your edit summary here that "professors are generally notable". That doesn't seem to apply to the article and some other professor articles I've stumbled across clearing the CSD category. They all have to teach and specialise in one discipline or another, and that's what the article basically says. Awyong Jeffrey Mordecai Salleh 09:27, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm shocked. You quoted WP:BIO which mentions the "professor test" in the Alternative tests section:

The professor test: If the individual is more well known and more published than an average college professor..., they can and should be included.

In other words, the average professor is non-notable, contrary to your interpretation:

One of our criteria for determining if a person is notable is whether they're as notable as a college professor.

There is a gulf of difference in meaning: "More well-known... than" is stricter than "as notable as". The criteria for notability as written in WP:BIO is stricter than what you've understood it to be. Awyong Jeffrey Mordecai Salleh 17:36, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

deleting my userpage

hey, I have seen that you deleted my userpage under user:sheehan.Lake I was only joking about my friend, and he saw it and thought that it was funny. I was also thinking that because the page was not true and only for a laugh for the people who know him, I could keep a note/message at the bottom of the page saying that this information is not true. This way, people will not think that there is auctually does this, and so that it can only be in a way, fun and not hurt anybody. I just wanted to say that I was not attacking him, for he is my best friend and we were only playing, infact we both made the page together. Is there anyplace that I could do this joke? And even if I can not have the page reposted, can I have what I wrote so that I can print it out, because it took us a very long time to write all of that information, and we want to show it to people. I am very sorry for this inconvienence, and was just trying to clear up the problem. Thank you- Sheehan Lake and Joey Sparks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sheehan.Lake (talkcontribs)

You told me to leave a message

You said to leave a note. Anyways, Salamander Square is a band famous among rabid Zelda fans for making remixes of Zelda music and whatnot. Information on the band itself is hazy, for they seem to no longer make music, but they have made a collection of songs, so I just thought I'd make a page on them. When I went to Nsider one day, I saw that a user was making a video using a song, so I contacted him about it. If you want, I'll cite my sources, which would be "last.fm" for the discography and the post that one user made on NSider, providing proof of the video being made. Would that work if I did that? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lewahi (talkcontribs)

Oh, I see what you mean. Sorry about not understanding that. Do you have any ideas on how I can prove them being worthy enough on a page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lewahi (talkcontribs)

I have an idea. If this video described on the page wins an honor on Youtube, which is where it's said to be hosted, would the page be able to exist since the band made the music used in the video? Oh, and did I sign correctly? Lewahi 00:26, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see. It might be a bit difficult for a page to come, since the band exists only online. But, 'tis life. Thanks for the welcome message, by the way. :)

My intention now is to slowly ease into using those additional buttons on my page. No use being over eager and mucking up the works. Longcroft School and Performing Arts College

Hi,

It is not the case of e-mailing the history at all. We would like the history to be deleted from the article. We are are getting comments from other pupils that have started to find out about the incident, and would rather have it deleted before parents start to read the Article History.

Thanks

Question about blocking

Please check the page I deleted here. It is obviously vandalism and an attack/threat page. My question is what is the appropriate sanction considering the nature of the threat and the fact that some information that might be able to used to identify the target was revealed? Thanks for your feedback, Irongargoyle 15:05, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I checked through the article again, and there is definitly no assertion of notability. All it does is list their albums, how the album sounded and a in a couple of cases what they wore on stage. The Kinslayer 15:50, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Elena Paparizou (Untitled International Album)

Although I nominated it, I just realised I made a mistake in nominating the above. If you'll notice I also requested the history to be merged of this article into The Game of Love (it's actual title - it had been cut and pasted). SO: me being stupid, I nominated the redirect for deletion too soon, so if you could either undelete it or merge the history yourself (since I've explained to you what happened) then that would be great. Thanks (and sorry for the inconvenience) - Рэдхот 16:03, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of article on Betterware

Hello: You thought my article on Betterware was advertising.

This is not the intention, and to further emphesis this I added negative points of view about the company.

I created it because there is an article about Kleeneze, a company offering similar products in the same marketplace that operate's illegally; and no article about it's nearest legitimate equivalent.

Please reconsider or advise what I should leave out.

I think there should be an article about this, since it is a prominent and well-known UK company.

Frank Hogan

Hi. I noticed your change of the tag. I checked the speedy page and I thought it was a valid candidate. Under "articles" at point 7 it says "Unremarkable people, groups, companies and websites." So why was my listing incorrect? There is no information on google or the article that says there's anything noteworthy about this person. By the way please reply on my talk page. If anyone thinks I'm just paranoid about John Smith's, look at the Frank Hogan article, its a topic that John Smith's knows nothing about a Ny DA,and senate candidate, who has had several important biographies written about him. But because I was the creator of the article John Smith's tagged it with nonnotable. Look I didnt want to believe that John Smith's was pursuign a vendetta against me I wanted to beleiev that it was just a coincidence and that he was just very active in China related articles, but the NYDa has nothing to do with his "expertise" it was clearly done simply to "punish" me, it is IMPOSSIBLe that it was a coincidence.

ME and John Smith's had an argument at the MAo unknown story talk page. John Smith's has sought childish retriubtion by going after ALL articles Ive edited. --Gary123 14:45, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

ResortQuest International, Inc.

Shame of it is, if I hadn't noticed all the redirects showing up in the Recent changes list, I wouldn't have tagged his main article as spam. His mistake ;-) Fan-1967 18:40, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please advise regarding ResortQuest International, Inc.

The article "ResortQuest International, Inc." has been deleted based on redirects that were created today. Please reinstate the article, as the both the company's parent and sister companies have lengthy, legitimate Wikipedia articles. The ResortQuest International article itself contains factual historic and industry-related information and contains no external links except for a single link at the end of the article to the offical ResortQuest website.

Regarding the redirects, they were created in an attempt to access the article when searching on similar terms, such as the more common "ResortQuest" or "Resort Quest" and variations thereof. Is there a better/simpler way to ensure that such searches find the "ResortQuest International, Inc." article? Prior to the article being deleted, such searches did not result in finding the actual article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Limnologist (talkcontribs)

Thank you for the advice on submitting a review. Would you consider re-posting the article and allowing me to revise the content? You mentioned that it did not adhere to the policy of neutral point of view. I am familiar with the policy, but I do not know what in this particular article you believe to be biased; please elaborate so that I may edit.
Also, would you kindly respond to my question about ensuring that searches find the correct article (so that redirects are not necessary), or point me to a Wiki article that better explains this process? Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Limnologist (talkcontribs)

SMFR

Please see my comments about SMFR on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/UngBDSM. Also, please note that I also created an article about Turun Baletti, where similar notability concerns apply. Myself, I think both organisations are notable as being the only public BDSM organisations in Helsinki and Turku, respectively. The article List of BDSM organizations (gosh I hate typing that "zee" every time) originally had over 92% of its organisations in the USA, so I created articles about two Finnish organisations to counter its apparent geographic bias. Deletion of The Beefeaters

Hey -- I was just going to de-speedy this article and prod it when you deleted it. I know you're a new admin -- I just wanted to mention it. I felt that the article didn't meet CSD A7 because it talked about them "set[ting] the standard for the Chicago based punk scene and paved the way for bands such as The Ninny's and The Dermits just to name a few." A7 should be very restrictive -- any importance (not just WP:MUSIC or WP:BIO "notability") should be enough. Anyway, if you end up agreeing with me I'd still leave it deleted unless the author shows up requesting undeletion... WP:SNOW and all that. Mangojuicetalk 19:47, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

With regard to the removal of the speedy delete tag from Todd marriott, although that article asserted notability, its claims were fake, having been adapted from the first few paragraphs of the article Phil Collins. "Marriott" even had the same song titles as Phil Collins. I don't believe that the speedy delete criteria should be so restrictive that obvious hoaxes are entitled to a five-day reprieve. Otherwise, there would be no way to speedy delete an article along the following lines:

Metro Politan90 is the 44th President of the United States, having been elected in 2004 and taking office in 2005. He was previously the Governor of Texas and is married to Laura Politan90 and has twin daughters, Jenna Politan90 and Barbara Politan90.

That would assert notability, and it's not patent nonsense, but it certainly isn't the kind of thing Wikipedia needs to keep around for five days either. --Metropolitan90 06:31, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion question

I would like to know please why you deleted the article I was writing on. I have just organized a team of 6 people to fill in the pages with the facts and statistics necessary to keep the article going.

The subject is a very important topic and one that has historical significance for the Filipino people.

Kindly inform me of the reason for the deletion, and what I need to do so that the article will not be deleted again.

Thank you and God bless —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mjsc (talkcontribs)

I started an article called "Barangay Health Volunteers, Philippines".

I saved it to test that it is already published. Then proceeded to edit it to add more information. When I tried to save the new information I put in, you had already deleted the article, with no reason given.

Kindly explain. Please help me navigate through these, because this is a very important first step to get our Health Volunteers into globalization.

I will re-create the article now. And request that you allow it time to digest, distill and grow. And at anytime you feel strongly about deleting it again, kindly warn us, so that we can explain why it is "notable".

I will also assure you as a professional that the article is notable and is relevant to over 100,000 Health volunteers in the Philippines and an equal number of professionals who support and have faith in them.

Why Simviation.com deleted?

My website Simviation.com was deleted by you on Oct 06.

Yet my competitors are left untouched. We never added our site - I presume it was originally posted by your staff & has been on Wiki for several years. It was vandalised on several occasions -

We never had any warning of this deletion & would like to know how to get this deserving site back where it deserves to be - on Wikipedia?

Thanks

I noticed you deleted Kitty-Yo, a German record company, apparently as an A7. As a noted independent label that's distributed albums for acts such as Maximilian Hecker, would you consider restoring the article? I don't think A7 would have qualified. Is there some appropriate way for me to deal with that user? I am considering simply removing my messages from his archive rather than letting them sit in there being modified by him. Dan Ochsner deletion

I was adding pages for radio personalities and shows in St Cloud, MN. This one (Dan Ochsner) was added and I was going to get biographical information this week. Is there a way for me to do this without being subject to quick deletion? Should I have made it a stub instead? (Though I am relatively new to doing this stuff, which is why I just did 'Create Article' from the help pages.) Should I have instead added the wiki holdon tag?

Actually, there is something you could do for me

There's an IP user, 84.9.193.208 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log), who has been moderately but consistently incivil at Talk:Lancashire who I asked to be civil yesterday. (I'm not involved with the page, I followed some Talk comments above there.) The result of my (rather long) messages on their Talk page has been this exchange: User talk:Saxifrage#Abuse. Since they've claimed to being banned user Irate (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log), could you review this and maybe talk to the blocking admin about the possibility that this user is telling the truth, and evading a block? Entirely besides that, I think they'd be blockable for extreme incivility, but if it's the case that they're evading, it's nice to have an overkill of reasons for blocking. Thanks! — Saxifrage 20:11, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do U think I'm the only Wikipedian of Wikipedia that has that message post?

Until there is a new Wikipedia rule, or if an Administrator actually says it's against wiki policies, then I'll remove it. Dragonball1986 20:49, 11 October 2006 (UTC), believe it!!![reply]

I have no ongoing quarrel with him; this appears to have been a stupid one-time test that he was running. But at some point in the future, I'd really like to be able to tell the next Wikilawyer that he does, in fact, have to maintain a link to his archives on his main talk page, and that he can't use fancy archiving as a loophole to make talk page warnings disappear. -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 23:46, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have the highest of respect for Wikipedia, I just wasn't aware of the policies regarding these types of articles. Of course I will abide by them. I hope that you can accept my apologies for my mistake in trying to create the article, and I hope that you'll accept the fact that my respect for Wikipedia is genuine.

All the best,

restore the article

Yes I'd appreciate it restored to my namespace. But I fail to see how I can get any more "credible" than by stating facts that I myself know are true (seeing as how I have been involved with the forum in question since the day it was created) and the fact that I had both the current and past administrators of the forum assisting me with the details. Will it make a difference if I actually say this at the end of my article?

Thanks! In the future, please tag the article with the original deletion criterion; {{db-repost}} is for articles that have gone through a deletion process (like AfD). No, I think you're right. Usually I do something else besides New Page Patrol, but not today. I've had my userpage vandalized four or five times today, and there's just a constant stream of crap being created. It's not even a full moon! But I did get to delete an article that asked if I was sexy, so I'm in a fairly good mood about it. -- Merope 18:40, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I suppose there are much worse questions one could be asked. I was left a message sometime in the last 24 hours asking if I do anything else with my time other than look for vandalism on Wikipedia. As it happens, I do (I actually just finished a show this past weekend, for example), and I am spending less time on Wikipedia lately than, say, a month ago. Still, I am proud of the garbage I have deleted, and make no apology for the time I spend here. ---Charles 18:47, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi- I tried to provide an historical account of our company. The reason for this is that there are other companies with the same name, and I wanted to create something online that people can go to, to research the differences, and determine which one we are. I don't consider this advertising, but research. Can you please let me know if this is acceptable? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Solderguy (talkcontribs)

Sorry, I did not read your comment carefully. Good to know that I can still contribute to wiki community. In addition, they put ni some type of a watchlist or something like that and can you help with that? They are assuming that I am a sock puppet of another E European scholar User:Bonaparte. This, in fact, sounds kind of Xenofobic to me, but it is my personal opinion, which I will keep to myself. I hope you won't subscribe to the point of view, that E Europeans are nationalists who try to purvey the NPOV on wiki. I promise to leave the Khoikhoi, Ghirla, Mikka and Co's page. As I've pointed out elsewhere, we're not farmers here! I hate DST. I go along kicking and screaming, looking forward to the last weekend of October. I just didn't think the wiki tag about loathing it was strong enough. In my heart I don't observe it. Glad to meet a fellow traveller! Hi, Bob Justin is a museum collected award winning and whats the term, registered artist? He has had his work toured around the world and shown and sold in galleries on the New York City and other points in the country and collected by notable collectors such as the American Folk Art Museum, the New Jersey State Museum of Art and the Johnsons of the Johnson and Johnsons. I was intending to add some of this to the article as I went along getting a full description added, though maybe not the Johnson and Johnson bit - thats kind of personal IMO. If necessary I can link to a newspaper article online, not sure how much else is online to verify the above. Thats kind of the point, putting stuff online about his work. Is being museum owned not notable? How much do you need just to have an article on wiki? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Yelloone (talkcontribs)

I see you just delete Joe Peppermint, which was listed on CSD. Did you notice that there was a "holdon" request on the talk page asking for some time to get some additional facts added in? --StuffOfInterest 17:47, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, thanks. I was just starting to look into it when the article disapeared out from under me. --StuffOfInterest 17:51, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
My only concern with deleting the short ones too quickly is that the author may be actively trying to work on it. I've seen a few come and go in just a couple of minutes. For a newbie this could come across as a bit of a slap. Still, certainly with this one, it was justified if the article was patent nonsense. --StuffOfInterest 17:55, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not saying you were not being careful. :) Just sharing my view. Glad to see it is a common one. Unrelated, there seems to be a bunch of by name pages showing up in CSD all of a sudden. I'm not sure how much to go after the creators of these or just kill them off and be done. How do you like to handle them? --StuffOfInterest 17:58, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I like the "test2article" template. Unfortunatley, I don't have access to a tabbed browser where I'm at during the day which makes it more tedious. Oh well. Anyway, thanks for the quick conversation and ideas. Back to work. --StuffOfInterest 18:05, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hiya, I concurred with the prod on the article. Also, I had a question, since I'm trying to improve my knowledge of some of the subtleties of WP:CSD. Can you explain why you feel that the article was not a speedy-delete candidate, under A7 or G10? That will help me to better tag these kinds of articles in the future. Thanks. --Elonka 18:14, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your reply.  :) On second reflection, I think it might make more sense to change the article to a redirect to Spongebob Squarepants, since there's already a mention of the parody there. Would you support that? --Elonka 18:28, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I recently posted information (including a notable history) on RockResorts and am confused as to why it was deleted.

Please understand my confusion.

Could you help rollback more of these?

Regarding this editor who you reverted a few. Please see [11]. Gotyear 01:47, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I saw at least one which was definitely a correct template, as I mention on AN/I. I'm pretty sure from my opinion and the others who replied that many of the templates are incorrect, but I respect your uncertainty. I did several and stopped, mostly because it's a lot of repetitive work. Gotyear 02:26, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why the harsh message. I'm not abusing the {{helpme}} template at all. I am coding a bot, IN bootcamp (where the {{helpme}}'s are shown) and they know about it, and they know that I don't need help. I have several people (including helpers from bootcamp, a bootcamp op, and even the bot co-coder) that can easily back me up, that I am not ABUSING the template. Take a look at User:Deon555's history and User_talk:Deon555's history (look two or three threads above ur message), and you will see I have used the {{helpme}} template numerous times. I am a "Helpme helper" myself, and I'm in bootcamp, to help, to code, and to let the other helpers know that I don't need help. If you are/were actually in bootcamp you would have seen this. — Deon555talkReview 02:47, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I too apologise, my tone probably wasn't the best.. But after staring at a black screen all day, you start to get Tcl and Python on the brain :P. Thanks :) — Deon555talkReview 03:13, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Context tag

On 18 Oct, you tagged (and edited) the article Action Heroes with a context tag. The page has received a fair ammount of content since then. As the content dispute was yours, just wondering if you would mind stopping by the page and see if you believe it is still an issue. Creol 12:35, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You were right and I was wrong.

I'm sincere in that statement, though I bet you wish you heard that more often. :)

I asked you to help me rollback, since you'd done a few, but you said you weren't sure if you were doing the right thing. I understood your reluctance, but especially with Gimmetrow's reasoning "Many of the blank ones have history that may be worth saving." and Grandmasterka's assistance and rebuke "It's disruptive to mark a lot of images as "corrupt or missing" when this is clearly not the case.", I felt it would be prudent for me to finish the task.

The full explanation and hopefully a template change so more good faith editors won't misunderstand and panic is being discussed at AN/I, here, to be precise. Please weigh in on the template wording if you have any thoughts. Gotyear 10:16, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yorkshire hip hop

Hi there, you've decided the article Yorkshire hip hop doesn't meet the criteria for speedy deletion, and removed the template - that's fine. But does the scope of an admin extend to suggesting ways of sorting pages out? Can you nominate it for deletion the usual route. The problem is no-else is bothering to look at this article, take steps to fix it, or suggest other alternatives. My concern that if an admin deletes the template without entering the discussion it doesn't do anything to improve the article, and it's easy for many to miss the fact that is was ever nominated for deletion. I appreciate admins are busy people... but we all are, so something more constructive would be helpful. Please don't reply to me personally, but add your comments to the article's talk page. sasha grey

I have prepared an article about Sasha Grey that seems to me to satisfy 2 notability criteria as stated on the respective page for pornographic actors. I hope you will find the time to read it. I apologize for the mistakes that I might have done. I am not an English native speaker. Thank you.

P.S. Unfortunately, her first appearance in the Los Angeles Magazine is not featured on the magazine's website. Fortunately, the title of the article is visible on the cover for the november issue of the magazine, as posted on http://www.losangelesmagazine.com/ME2/dirmod.asp?sid=14D5B253DB1D499F9AD38F459D8E926A&nm=&type=Publishing&mod=Publications%3A%3AArticle&mid=8F3A7027421841978F18BE895F87F791&tier=2&did=0DB6970EC6C941C4B0B92F4BF70F4444&dtxt=November+2006

Sasha Grey (born March 14, 1988, Sacramento) is an American pornographic actress.

Pornographic film career

A rising star in the adult film industry, Sasha Grey started her career in 2006 in a scene with one of the most important adult male stars, Rocco Siffredi. The movie, a blockbuster shot in high def, is Fashionistas 2, a sequel to the movie that had spawned the Las Vegas show bearing the same name. She followed that with 13 more titles, establishing her reputation as an adult actress ready for any challenge, ready to push the boundaries or even break them. Days after she celebrated her 18th birthday, but almost a year after starting her research about the wolrd of pornography, Sasha found herself an agent, moved to LA and started her career. Her beauty and passion for sex helped her achieve in less than a year what other girls can't dream of when they start in the adult film industry. On top of her acting, Sasha recently agreed to write a column for the adult publication Fox. She is featured in an article in the November 2006 issue of Los Angeles Magazine, her first mainstream media appearance..

Quotes

Sasha Grey: "... I was already having that kind of sex you saw in porn. I was just bored with my sex life at that point. Some of the porn I was watching wasn't very arousing and didn't get me off. I thought, 'if they can do this, maybe I can add a little something extra'." (http://www.xrentdvd.com/Porn_Star_Interviews/Sasha_Grey.html)

Apparently, there are several greek media people on wikipedia i.e.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julia_Alexandratou)of the same caliber. Thank you for your time and contributions. Please respond to Organismos discussion page.

Yes, but i don't see any connection between the two cases. Can you please explain me? Thank you for your time.

Hi

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Canada Malting stub deleted.

Hi there, as you probably noticed from the article I was trying to put in, I am new to Wikipedia. Can you give me a couple of hints as to why you deleted it? I thought I was doing OK with it... Thanks!

Federal Bison

I guess i'm not too clear on this

I was attempting to make a page for my band, the notability being we are a rock band from CT who isn't just trying to change the whole rock scene in the state, we are changing the rock scene in the state.

"Has become the most prominent representative of a notable style or the local scene of a city (or both, as in British hip hop); note that the subject must still meet all ordinary Wikipedia standards, including verifiability."

We are Connecticut's Best Original Rock Band

this can be verified by The Hartford Advocate see http://www.hartfordadvocate.com

Also "Has been the subject of a half hour or longer broadcast on a national radio network"

this can be verified by WCCC 106.9 FM AND Ultraradio.com

please let me know what i have to do to get a page up on the great Wikipedia

Thank you very much

Gabe

Apologies

Hi,

I'm sorry to have you waste your time and go through this. I wasn't too clear on the rules and regulations of Wikipedia when i started making the page (however i do believe we count as Notable Musicians). I was sort of confused and when the Federal Bison page was deleted, the interface on Wikipedia made it even more confusing for me. I'm a first time user, and again my apologies.

Gabe

Federal Bison (again)

I edited up my Federal Bison page just about as best i know how to. If there is anything that shouldn't be on there (tour dates? or anything else) let me know so I can do my best to remove it. Also, i guess just inform me when you can about how to get it actually up and editable (?) We are excited to be a part of the Wikipedia Community and thanks for your time!!

Gabe

I didnt really know how to go about Citing sources, do you want me to put the article sites from the newspaper at the bottom of the page too?? or is INTERNALLY LINKING it good enough?? ha, sorry man. I am totally new to this.

I asked a buddy of mine if he knew who Gary Hoey was, because we are playing a show with him soon, and he said he didn't know, but then he sent me the Wikipedia page for Gary Hoey and I thought it was the coolest thing that I could just edit it and whathaveyou. Okay I'm done yappin

Lemme know whats good! Thanks again  : )

Deleted my page

I was working on an entry for The Parson Red Heads. They are an up and coming band in LA - this was all noted on the page. They are a band. They are releasing a new record in early 2007. They are starting to get a lot of attention. I don't know why this isn't enough to make a page "notable". It is notable because they exist - they are in the public eye, they have a history, and it deserves to be learned about it people would like to learn about it. I thought that's what this website was all about.

I had written quite a bit of the entry already, when you decided to delete it. I'm upset that I have to do all that work again. Honestly, I shouldn't have to. When I DO re-enter it, I'd appreciate it if you don't delete it. It upsets me that you would claim to know what is notable and what isn't notable in the first place.

Vandalism

Please see your user page, and the history of User talk:Isaactret, paying particular attention to this oldid.Crimsone 21:52, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Happy to help. It was funny though I must admit - unacceptale, but funny none the less :) Crimsone 22:03, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

In the entry I was writing up, I stated that Dane Garrard, our bass player, is also a member of the band The Tyde. This band is on a VERY important indie label - Rough Trade (with bands such as The Strokes and the Fiery Furnaces). In your criteria for notability, it states that if a member of the band is also in, or was in, a band that is nationally acclaimed, then that qualifies the band as being notable. If you look up the Tyde's myspace page, you can see that Dane Garrard is a current member. You can also see that they are on a national tour, and that they recently played huge festivals in Japan.

If this does not meet criteria for notability, please let me know.

Moving pages

Thanks for fixing this. I have noted how to move/rename pages for future reference. Bordeaux2000 21:57, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RE-Submission

Sorry to bother you (again) but i don't quite know how to ReSubmit my article. When i type Federal Bison in the Search it says the page has been deleted and protected to prevent re-creation. I'm so new at this again, but i'll learn I SWEAR. And thanks for reformatting the page for me, much obliged!

FROM ISAAC

HELLO ME ROPE! soory about all the craaaazy stuff thats going on! I think you have a sense of humour but i cant really tell, what did you think of those changes to the user talk:isaactret stuff earlier, pretty funny, hey?

and now its all about the self messages, this place is like prison, im gonna take my self-talk to WORD!!!! muhahahahaha

you wont know whatever im planning until its already too late! paperclip

ooooooooh down here it says: "Please note: If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly or redistributed by others, do not submit it. "!!!!!! i love wikipedia wording —Preceding unsigned comment added by Isaactret (talkcontribs)

Please stop it. This is going to get you banned for disruption if you continue - it really is unnessecary. Yes, Merope (and I too) has a sense of humour. We also have a sense of responsibility, a sense of duty, and knowledge enough of the rules, policies, and guidelines of wikipedia to wikilawyer with the best of them. It's not going to happen. In the interests of any other person reading your quoted statement, please note that it applies according to the GFDL and Wiki policy only. Please also note that user talk pages are not owned by the user holding the account (though greater discretion is given, but are in fact a resource given, taken, and used for the benefit of the community. mmmm

Although i do occasionally doubt that my sense of humour gets to some people, i have a belief that it reached you on some level :|

Vandals are fundimental to the project, they create a viable reason for more administrators, who do not become bored, and in turn create possibilities of a bigger community within the project. dont mention it. Its the Wikicircle of life, there are vandals and administrators, my volunteer work is getting hard, so im going to quit, hopefully a vandal with a good sense of humour and a respect for administrators will succeed me.

p.s. i worked out the whole "if you dont put a headline it looks like the last person did it... eventially —Preceding unsigned comment added by Isaactret (talkcontribs)

The Parson Red Heads

So, I re-vamped the Parson Red Heads entry. Tell me if it needs changes - if no, could you assist me in putting it back up?
