Dominic Clementson
[edit]- Yes, it was for creating the article Dominic Clementson. Wikipedia takes articles that disparage their subjects very seriously, and deletes them on sight. Do not use Wikipedia to take the piss out of your friends. -- Merope
- Ah, I see that now--"DuncanDisorderly" was mentioned there in the list of pseudonyms. I will say that while creating articles about yourself is discouraged, every editor has his or her own user page where you can list personal information. You're free to put stuff about yourself there (within reason; see WP:Userpage for details). Your user page would be at User:DuncanDisorderly. Anyway, sorry about the confusion. I've removed the warning message from this page. Happy editing. -- Merope 12:53, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
Response to your message
[edit]It's no big deal. :) One becomes an administrator by submitting a request for adminship. You have to answer a few questions and then the rest of the community debates whether or not you should be entrusted with extra responsibilities. Typically, users have to be very active for over four to six months and have logged several thousand edits. It's an extremely rigorous process--you have maybe one hundred editors combing over your entire history on the site, judging you and your contributions. Being an admin isn't a big deal, though--it just means that I have access to a couple of extra features that it's not a good idea to give to everyone (like deleting articles and blocking users). Editors are what makes Wikipedia run. If you're interested in becoming one someday, you can check out WP:ADMIN for more information.
I also wanted to add that you should put ~~~~ at the end of your posts on talk pages. This automatically adds your username and the date and time. I'll also stick a welcome template your page that includes some helpful links about WP and its policies. -- Merope 15:57, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
