Self reference
[edit]Hi. Thanks for trying to improve verifiability and citations on Wikipedia. Unfortunately Wikipedia can't be used to reference itself, so edits like this one https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Encyclopaedia_of_Chess_Openings&diff=prev&oldid=1145817995&diffmode=source can't be accepted. There is a brief explanation of this at WP:USERGENERATED explaining why user-generated content such as Wikipedia itself can't be used to cite claims in Wikipedia. [edit]Hello, I'm Dl2000. An edit that you recently made to Textual variants in the Book of Genesis seemed to be a test and has been reverted. If you want to practice editing, please use your sandbox. If you think a mistake was made, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! Dl2000 (talk) 22:28, 22 March 2023 (UTC)

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Chess at the 2007 Asian Indoor Games. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. CodeTalker (talk) 16:24, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
- Please STOP adding references to other Wikipedia articles. As explained above by Quale, Wikipedia itself cannot be used as a reference; see WP:UGC. Any edit you make to add Wikipedia as a reference just wastes time for other editors who need to revert your additions. Thank you. CodeTalker (talk) 16:53, 29 March 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Please stop. If you continue to add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings.
