Category:LGBT comedians from England
Hi, Thanks for joining wikipedia and I hope you enjoy your time here.
I've nominiated for deletion here. This is on the grounds of the editing guideline Wikipedia:Overcategorization and Wikipedia:Categorization/Ethnicity, gender, religion and sexuality. As your new here you might not be up to speed with the many guidelines we have here and its worth familiarizing yourself with these. You are welcome to the discussion. It might be an idea to slow up on your categorisation work until the discussion has run its course, it would be a shame for your work to be undone.--Salix (talk): 19:03, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
Hoaxes
Hoaxes like the addition of "He died June 2012 after duelling with a polar bear" to a biography of a living person are not funny at all. Even if you remove them yourself later. Don't do something like that again, please. Amalthea 18:18, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- I restored to an earlier version to remove other hoax material in the categories section etc and that was the last thing i noticed needing removed. Before I worked on the article it had far more hoax and joke material in it. Please check diffs before accusing.MaybeMaybeMaybe (talk) 18:21, 17 September 2012 (UTC)

- Notice the difference. The fake/unsourced nick name and hoax/fake categories which you left in the article are now gone. MaybeMaybeMaybe (talk) 18:24, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- I see! My sincere apologies, absolutely my mistake! Amalthea 18:29, 17 September 2012 (UTC)

Drawings by Leonardo da Vinci
I don't think that the creation of a separate category, at this point in time was a good move. There are very few individual drawings that merit a separate article., and carving them off from the category "Works by Leonardo da Vinci" is not a good way to go.
I want to comment that as a new editor, you need to confer with the regular writers of the articles before making a major change to their categorisation. A minor change would entail adding a work to an extra category such as Renaissance drawings of women (I don't know if such a category exists). But the major category in this case is obviously Works by Leonardo da Vinci, and you have set to and removed several works without, as far as I know, any discussion.
Amandajm (talk) 12:03, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
- Scrub this.
- I have observed that Drawings is coming up as a subcategory on the Works page. That's an OK solution! My apologies!
- Amandajm (talk) 12:08, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
- Glad everything is OK. I thought that when some were divided by medium there may as well be one for drawings arranged in the same way.MaybeMaybeMaybe (talk) 12:17, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
Sorry to revert your addition to Annie Lennox without any discussion. But facing similar problems of validity here, I was wondering if could you clarify whether or not you think that a WP:RS, in which a person is unambigously described as "androgynous", must be provided before that category can be added to their article. Thanks? Martinevans123 (talk) 14:31, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
- I would say that I would judge it like other categories and say the main thing is that the category is backed up by text in the main body of the article. Would these be OK as refs to then add the category to Lennox?[1][2] MaybeMaybeMaybe (talk) 15:59, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
- I'd be hard pressed to think of better ones. But my only gripe is that there should be no room for personal judgement - the description, together with sources like those two, should already be in the article. Many thanks. Annie sometimes looks more of a man that I'll ever be :( Martinevans123 (talk) 16:22, 2 October 2012 (UTC)

Why add these? What do they add? And why add an incomplete one to the DGS page? Before adding them you should seek a consensus at the project, and work them up in a sandbox until they are reasonably complete. --John (talk) 20:48, 6 October 2012 (UTC)

- So your response to a nomination for deletion of a potentially problematic category is (a) ignore the discussion and (b) create similar potentially problematic categories? That really isn't how to do things, you know. BencherliteTalk 08:11, 30 October 2012 (UTC)
Is this really worth it? I don't think so. I think you've gone rather over the top in these categories, especially as the English ones are not normally called "high crosses" (for purely historical reasons). Johnbod (talk) 22:00, 30 October 2012 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Category:Jewish American actors, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Category:Gay men by nationality / Category:Gay men
Please do not try to wiggle around the decision to upmerge all the "Gay men from Foo" categories into "LGBT people from Foo" categories by adding people to the "Gay men" category itself e.g. this edit. Such an approach is blatantly disruptive editing. Please undo all such edits at once, or I will have to ask for you to be blocked. BencherliteTalk 22:42, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
It is not wiggling out of it some of theme were in that category previously and diffused the gay men by country ones. many gay men are placed in that category when there is not a gay xx category to cover their occupation.MaybeMaybeMaybe (talk) 22:47, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
- note that I am not touching the ones with a gay xxx occupation category only looking for the ones not covered by such cats. please check before accusing.MaybeMaybeMaybe (talk) 22:49, 6 November 2012 (UTC)

- (edit conflict x2) Well, as I read the discussion, the better view was that gay men should be in "LGBT people from Foo" categories, rather than categorised as "Gay men" per se; there are some "Gay (occupation)ers" categories, but not many; and even if you're right (and I dispute that) it certainly wouldn't explain the changes you've made to Louie Spence, would it? "LGBT people from England" category removed by you, "Gay men" AND "Gay entertainers" categories added by you. Now, will you undo your changes, or will I have to do it for you? BencherliteTalk 22:54, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
- No because the likes of this http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Nigel_Wrench&diff=517765522&oldid=514577899 happened widely and they are being categorized like they were before. There was nothing to say that gay men shouldnt have any cats based on that at all but the arguments mostly seems to be against those cats by country.91.125.200.202 (talk) 23:02, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
- Apologies for the louis spence one I hadnt realised there had been an occ cat that covered him until a moment after I had put him in the parent cat.MaybeMaybeMaybe (talk) 23:06, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
- Nobody at the discussion wanted the contents of "Gay men by nationality" upmerged into "Gay men", did they? (In fact, as user:Bearcat said, Category:Gay men and Category:Lesbians are not meant to have individuals in them, they are simply containers for occupational subcategories.) In any event, upmerger to "Gay men" wasn't the outcome of the discussion, so you are disrupting and attempting to subvert the CFD process.
- And your claim that they are being categorised as they were is breathtakingly far from accurate - to give just three examples as I work through your edits:
- Apologies for the louis spence one I hadnt realised there had been an occ cat that covered him until a moment after I had put him in the parent cat.MaybeMaybeMaybe (talk) 23:06, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
- Rupert Croft-Cooke: he was removed from "LGBT people from England" by you, and he was never in Category:Gay men until you put him there
- Anthony Crank: ditto
- Nicky Crane: ditto, and as he's already in Category:Gay pornographic film actors, your claim that you're not adding "Category:Gay men" where there is an occupational category is wrong too. BencherliteTalk 23:14, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
I am not claiming to be flawless I am going to go back through the gay men cat and check for mistaken doubling up of those cats once I am done. And I said some of them were there previously not nexxesarily all.MaybeMaybeMaybe (talk) 23:18, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
- Also where does it say that the gay men category can not contain indivduals? I would dispute that as it has contained individuals for some time now. MaybeMaybeMaybe (talk) 23:32, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
- I haven't found any article which you have tonight added to Gay men that was in it previously; can you show me one? As it currently stands (i.e. after undoing your handiwork from tonight), that category has about 30 names in - do you really think that it would have so few if it was generally accepted as the category to use for all gay men unless there happened to be an occupational category for them? Recreating deleted categories
- Category:Bisexual models
- And its even more specific subcategories Category:Bisexual male models, Category:Bisexual female models, Category:Bisexual male adult models
- Category:Fictional atheists
- Category:LGBT atheists, Category:LGBT agnostics
- And their even more specific subcategories Category:Gay atheists, Category:Gay agnostics
- Category:Gay dancers
- Category:Gay Jews
- And its even more specific subcategory Category:Gay orthodox Jews
All of these categories have two things in common. Firstly, the community has previously decided at WP:CFD that these categories should not exist (either directly or by obvious implication in the case of the more specific subcategories). Secondly, you recreated the previously deleted categories – and in some cases created a subcategory structure underneath – despite the clear message that comes up when you prepare to recreate a deleted page:
A page with this title has previously been deleted.
If you are creating a new page with different content, please continue. If you are recreating a page similar to the previously deleted page, or are unsure, please first contact the deleting administrator using the information provided below.
I cannot see anywhere that you have contacted the deleting adminstrator, let alone challenged the consensus at WP:DRV. So other editors, including me, have to waste time enforcing the previous decisions of the community by rearguing the matter at CFD (if the recreation is not spotted until after the CFD nomination), or removing the categories in question if it is.
Repeatedly recreating previously deleted material is grounds for blocking. Please do not do it again. BencherliteTalk 08:35, 7 November 2012 (UTC)

All the images on commons are from a posed photoshoot. One of them is sufficient for illustrating what he looks like. The image of him with the guitar prop in that photoshoot is pretty marginal to use as an image in the discography section. A much better image for this section would be a candid of him performing, not just posing. Geraldo Perez (talk) 20:00, 8 November 2012 (UTC)

Please stop recreating articles as you did at Until You Loved Me without providing third party reliable sourcing to show that the article meets the requirements for a stand alone article. It is the WP:BURDEN of the editor wishing to add or restore material to provide proper verification from appropriate, third party reliable sources. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 15:56, 11 November 2012 (UTC)
- Hi can you take a look at it now as a managed to locate 3 sources? Thanks.MaybeMaybeMaybe (talk) 01:26, 14 November 2012 (UTC)
Prefer you didn't
It would be preferable to not add Horse breeds originating in (fill in nation) categories to the horse breed articles, for a number of reasons: First, history changes boundaries, as an example, the Lipizzaner originated within the Austria-Hungarian empire and now five different nations house the stud farms that provided the foundation stock. Second, there are nationalist issues, the Karabakh horse, for example, and the Azerbaijani horse -- get the "origins" wrong and we have edit wars. While a few people have just had an obsession with national tagging (for USA or France or Italy, or the UK, for example) and we sort of let them have their way, there is no real need to tag breeds with national origins absent some pressing faction demanding it, and if you get the nation wrong, it causes drama. So can you just not create new categories absent a clamor and demand from some specific nationalistic bunch that insists upon it? I'm not going to nom the cats fro deletion, but please don't waste your time trying to do all 350 breeds. Thanks. Montanabw(talk) 17:39, 12 November 2012 (UTC)
- Would you PLEASE explain to me why you insist on adding unneeded (and sometimes incorrect) nation of origin tags to all the horse and donkey breed articles? It appears to be over-categorization in many, many cases (Latvia? Really?). I would like to engage in discussion with you as to why you think this is necessary because it appears to serve no logical purpose whatsoever. But, I actually AM open to hearing if there is a logical argument and discussing the issue. Montanabw(talk) 22:11, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
- If you disagree with categories please nominate them for cfd rather than simply emptying them.MaybeMaybeMaybe (talk) 23:57, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
- I DO like that you created Category:Donkey breeds. Perhaps that will solve the Donkey articles problem. On the rest, I would prefer to work this issue out with you without resorting to the dramah boards which will be long, rancorous, and generally a tendentious waste of time; an empty category is automatically deleted by bot if it stays empty long enough. If you have a good case to make for what you are doing, make it. Otherwise, I'll simply revert and only resort to CfD if you insist on not communicating about the issue. MaybeMaybeMaybe, you have been editing for a comparatively short time and already received many complaints about your category-related edits. Far too many of your category creations are getting nominated for merging back into their original categories or for outright deletion; I've already had to warn you about recreating previously deleted categories when you've just ignored the previous discussion. Even when respected and knowledgeable editors like Montanabw ask you to explain and discuss, you seem to prefer to ignore them and carry on regardless. I think it's getting very close to the time when the community will need to discuss imposing involuntary restrictions on your editing, either in the form of a topic ban from categories or something even more severe, unless you learn from your mistakes and stop creating so many unnecessary categories. Images on Nico Mirallegro
Thank you for adding a picture on Nico Mirallegro which better reflects his current appearance (rather than the one that is out of date, taken when he was 17, with a fan beside him). I realise now that you originally uploaded that older photo, which is why you wished to re-add it; I understand because I have uploaded photographs myself, only to have them deleted; even when written permission had been obtained for their use. A really good further refinement now, would be to ask the owner of one of the two recent football photos of Nico Mirallegro (on Wikimedia Commons page) if a cropped version could be used, showing mainly his head and shoulders. As he is an actor rather than a footballer, this would provide an image which, while not being a professional actor photograph, would not distract from his current career of being an actor. This would suffice as a good image for Nico Mirallegro until permission for use of TV and film images can be obtained. I think most photos on Wikimedia Commons can be adapted and cropped - with permission obtained from owner - if they are not overwritten but saved as a new image.

Edit warring
I see you have engaged in an edit war on Quagmire's Dad for several days now, and numerous other related articles. Please don't, and use the talk page as appropriate. Nymf hideliho! 08:20, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
Your recent editing history at Quagmire's Dad shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 00:39, 17 November 2012 (UTC)
Hi, just wondered if you think this category was really worth creating since it only contains redirects that all point to the same article. –anemoneprojectors– 13:30, 17 November 2012 (UTC)
- I think it is worth it for now at least as some have songwriting credits or significant coverage in their own right and I was going to ask about splitting some out.MaybeMaybeMaybe (talk) 13:39, 17 November 2012 (UTC)
- I'm not sure about this category, just wondered on your thoughts. I won't AFD it! I don't think it's worth splitting any of them out though. –anemoneprojectors– 14:38, 17 November 2012 (UTC)
- It's been AFD'd now - note that at Category:Musicians by band it requests that categories are only made if at least two members have articles. –anemoneprojectors– 20:39, 17 November 2012 (UTC)

Category:Songs written by B*Witched
I have nominated the above category for deletion and as per precedent. I also note you have created a couple of categories where there is no corresponding main article which I shall also nominate for deletion in due course - unless the relevant article appears.
