Userify request

Would it be possible to get all the articles I have started that were deleted to be userified so I can go through them and see if the can be salvaged by adding sources? Thank you. Mathewignash (talk) 17:50, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

{{adminhelp}}.

I notice that the most two recent two articles deleted were deleted per G5 "Creation by a blocked or banned user in violation of block or ban". I'd like input from MuZemike before proceeding.--SPhilbrickT 18:48, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
Actually, the last several pages I deleted per G5 were both AFD pages, not articles themselves. –MuZemike 18:59, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
Oops, yes. I'll look into userfying, unless I hear any objections.--SPhilbrickT 19:17, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

I'll start with

Going back to September August 2010, I see a couple others, but they are redirects. Any I've missed?--SPhilbrickT 19:48, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

Anything that got deleted and then someone else recreated as a redirect would be nice too. As far back as you are willing to go. Mathewignash (talk) 20:51, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

Autopatrolled

Hello, this is just to let you know that I have granted you the "autopatrolled" permission. This won't affect your editing, it just automatically marks any page you create as patrolled, benefiting new page patrollers. Please remember:

  • This permission does not give you any special status or authority
  • Submission of inappropriate material may lead to its removal
  • You may wish to display the {{Autopatrolled}} top icon and/or the {{User wikipedia/autopatrolled}} userbox on your user page
  • If, for any reason, you decide you do not want the permission, let me know and I can remove it
If you have any questions about the permission, don't hesitate to ask. Otherwise, happy editing! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 23:12, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

Userify request

I was looking for the following deleted pages to be userfied so I could work on them: Divebomb, Knock Out (Transformers), Long Haul, Mixmaster (Transformers) and Warpath (Transformers). Thank you. Mathewignash (talk) 02:10, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

The kind folks over at WP:UND will be able to handle this. Can you please enter your request there.  7  04:08, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

Harrassment

I know you and I don't see eye to eye on the merits of all those Transformers articles but I think the way you are being repeatedly hassled by Wiki brah and other sockmasters is appalling. Reyk YO! 09:22, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

Those book refs you found are great!

After you updated the Zartan page, I looked those up on google books, and I used maybe four or five diff citations from the three books in this article. Thanks! -- Jake Fuersturm (talk) 21:29, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

Re:Your current Transformers PRODs

Do I? Leaving useless articles languishing with "maybe this should be merged!" for months and months doesn't really help anything. If you're aware how many articles need to be merged, please, get to it. J Milburn (talk) 21:42, 18 June 2011 (UTC)

That argument would normally be fine, but the simple fact is that people have been tagging Transformers articles for years, and yet there's still no real improvement. I can't always find the most appropriate character list, nor do I necessarily know if they exist; I'll try to be aware of the possibility of merging. However, we need some activity here; I'm not sure I share your faith that, if I tag them, someone will get to them eventually... J Milburn (talk) 22:08, 18 June 2011 (UTC)
I can agree with that, and, from what you say, it sounds like you are getting a better idea of what constitutes a decent article. The trouble is that so many of the articles have so little that is worth merging. Take, for instance, Flatline (Transformers). At most, this character seems to warrant half a line somewhere. Just because a character exists, does not mean that we should feel the need to cover them; at the end of the day, it's going to be the films, books, video games and so on themselves that are most important, with a few exceptions. I've written about fiction myself, too, though it is the articles on the books/films/whatever that I focus on, rather than articles on characters/fictional elements. J Milburn (talk) 22:26, 18 June 2011 (UTC)

Merging Transformers articles

I admire the work that you've put into updating the many Transformers character articles. However, since all of the character articles have now been assessed according to Wikipedia:Version 1.0, please be sure to update the class of the article on the talk page, for any articles that you are merging. Also, all of the stub-class Transformers articles have been tagged with the template {{Transformers-stub}}. If you remove the tag because you are expanding or merging an article, please be sure to update the classification on the article's talk page as well. There is a log of everything that has been updated here, which is maintained by the WP 1.0 bot. Thanks, and I hope that the quality and importance guides will help you to improve the coverage of Transformers articles on Wikipedia! Fortdj33 (talk) 17:56, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

Your help is required....

Right i finally twigged onto how to solve the "Other incarnations" issue. Technically we shouldn't even be sticking other characters who have the same name into the same article as the way they are. Its conveniant yes, but wrong. Ideally they would all have their own articles but as we know most fail general notability for their own articles. However those that don't should be in an article with other continuity related characters.

I've started the process of creating a central article with List of Transformers Armada Mini-Cons.

I've tried to preserve as much of the information as possible such as Japanese names, mottos and images where they had one. Infoboxes for all of them would be mad and highly ditracting from the article and cause poor formatting.

For characters that have a lot of information that they maybe do merit their own article as Sparkplug (Transformers) may then we link to it as i've done in that new article above.

This would be the best way i feel to resolve the "otehr incarnations" issue and allow those characters that only appear in one continuity or the like to be described properly without fear of deletion. An article detailing all the characters of a series or kind of characters is less prone to being deleted.

I would appreciate help in moving information on the Mini-Cons into the article. I've altered Inferno (Transformers) to highlight how we should be linking to other characters of the same name. By later having movie characters together in an article, Inferno (Transformers) can end up being solely about Generation 1 Inferno etc. etc.

This would only be the tip of the iceberg, however would result in all characters to either have an article solely to do with themselves or with the rest of their comrades or series. It would also help create articles where articles can be merged too. I would like your assistence in this as well as little trouble as possible as it is in the best interests of the WikiProject. If you can help add in information for characters such as Jolt and Liftor please add it in.

The toy section can be expanded upon as well, however i think it was agreed that we don't need an indepth history of each characters toy release etc. So maybe we could focus it on the general design of the them and unique cases etc. Mabuska (talk) 21:09, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

I hope you don't mind me chipping in. I agree that different characters who happen to share the same name do not belong in the same article- so far as I understand it, vastly different characters from completely different continuities share the same name- it's not just like how there are multiple stories which include Superman, many of which contradict each other, or the way Mario pops up in games other than his own. Am I correct here? I support the use of character lists as opposed to numerous articles on non-notable characters, but you have to ask yourself what an appropriate level of detail is. For minor continuities, a brief character list on the article on the media (TV series, video game, whatever) may be preferable to a full-blown character list; only when there is a good amount of significant sourced information (IE, not just long plot summaries) is a character list required. It's also worth considering minimising the character lists- for instance, one of our stronger character lists is list of human characters in Sesame Street, which may give an idea. Again, long plot summaries should be avoided. Finally, be careful about the use of non-free content in character lists. You note that you've "tried to preserve as much of the information as possible such as ... images", but we have specific guidance codified in guidelines (see this page) about the use of non-free content in list articles. Basically, it should be minimal. J Milburn (talk) 21:56, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
Long plot summaries should be cut down and i try to where applicable. For the moment i think getting the hardly notable lesser character articles merged into list articles should be the main thing to do. After that we can focus on if there is a better way to format the end result articles, cutting down what we can. Its all trial and error and experimentation as we go. Mabuska (talk) 10:31, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
Long plot summaries could be more easily cut down if we had a page for the episodes of Armada that had plot summaries of each episodes. Then the character pages could just say what episodes the character apopeared in and link to that page. We only would need each plat summary ONCE, not once for every character in the episode. Mathewignash (talk) 12:52, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
Thats how it should be done. Usually when i see lists of episodes for a TV series, it has a table format with a brief outline of the episodes plot. But usually contains a very general overview - they aren't loaded with plot or character specifics. Mabuska (talk) 13:40, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
I'd have to think a better name for that page would be List of Transformers: Armada characters, and then you can link off to those who have full articles, while keeping those who don't have full articles on that page. Mathewignash (talk) 23:10, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
Reasons why i choose a more specific branch of Armada such as Mini-Cons for this instance is because there are quite a few and it'd stop the page becoming too long, as mentioning and detailing every character would lead to an overly huge article. It'd also allow for better formatting i think.
The Mini-Con section in the article you've provided can be replaced with a "Main article" section link. Its commonly used to link a section to an article where the topic is detailed more indepth and specifically. Those with articles that are essentially stubs with little in them would be better merged into such list articles. Mabuska (talk) 10:20, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
So are you basically splitting List of Transformers: Armada characters in seperate pages? Mathewignash (talk) 12:54, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
Depends if its required or not. Would help slim the page down. YOu know it is possible to provide a brief overview of the characters or something similar whilst providing a "Main article" link to the article where each one is detailed. Sort of like how an article lede is meant to be a summary of what the article contains. Mabuska (talk) 13:40, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
Resplitting the character lists is probably a bad idea. If the character list is too long, I think it's more likely that you're just trying to pile in too much detail. I'd imagine all but the major characters require only a line or two. J Milburn (talk) 10:59, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
I'd be against splitting the article too. SOme more biography detail can be added to the existing list page without making to too big. Mathewignash (talk) 11:05, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

Hi!

You have restored Category:Fictional robotic dinosaurs in some articles. I have removed them, because those artilces are in Category:Dinobots, which is subcategory of Category:Fictional robotic dinosaurs. I don't see any need to keep them in both of this categories.. Danim (talk) 01:58, 25 June 2011 (UTC)

Thank you!

Glad to see that Mikaela breaking up with Sam is mentioned in the book. Now if only people could stop insisting that Barricade and Bonecrusher are alive. --65.211.97.242 (talk) 15:25, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

The break up is mentioned in the movie, even if they don't mention her name i think. Ah well thats what you get for calling Michael Bay a "Nazi" without taken into consideration that the executive director is Jewish. Quite insulting. Mabuska (talk) 15:35, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
Barricade and Bonecrusher are alive in the toy line, and Barricade is alive in the comics and books. In the movies they are a bit ambiguous about it, could just be reused CG models in the fight scenes as generic Transformers. Mathewignash (talk) 15:56, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

Transformers articles

Well, you said I didn't discuss things, so now I am. I've just finished fixing "C" and "D" in the Decepticons subcat. I won't do anything else until Wednesday (6 July) at which point I'll start on the same category starting at "E" - two letters per day. So you've got until then to fix the problems, and I'd far rather you did them than I had to. Black Kite (t) (c) 00:43, 3 July 2011 (UTC)

3 images as one

Please read my reply on my talkpage, and don't revert again - I really don't want to report you to 3RR - seriously Mathew, 3 separate frames is 3 non-free images - I had to remove the whole thing as they've been uploaded as one image, but if you can find a single image of the character, that's fine ... Yeah!

But that's because Frenzy had a SPARE body under his head. Bonecrusher did NOT! So I guess Megatron, Mixmaster and Shockwave are still alive. They must have survived decapitation. Also, the decapitation survival of Optimus Prime, Waspinator, Fortress Maximus, Beast Wars Megatron and Inferno, Jhaixus, Shockwave, and many others happened in the CARTOONS. Not in the MOVIES. Spare me your fan boy edits. Your favorite character is dead. Get over it. I have provided a fair compromise. Except it and move on. You can't win. Non-free rationale for File:Misfire-slugslinger.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Misfire-slugslinger.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Canvassing

I would have thought that you would be aware by now that canvassing users to !vote on an AfD is against policy and a blockable offence, when you only notify those who you think will !vote in your favour. Please remove your canvassing on Colonel Warden's page before you find yourself at WP:ANI. I don't even understand why you did it, considering the AfD is almost certainly going to end up as no consensus. Black Kite (t) (c) 18:41, 16 August 2011 (UTC)

  • That's fine - glad you understand why it can be a problem. Don't worry about the IP, it's fairly obvious from its contributions that it's a sock of a well-known banned user, so its contributions will probably be struck out soon. Black Kite (t) (c) 22:47, 16 August 2011 (UTC)

Primal Prime

The last time I saw a Primal Prime page, it was here. Then it's now deleted. I had to restore the page. Please don't delete it! It needs some more work done. Also, I found out that a user named Twctinc1 has been doing some vandalism on Wikipedia because I typed in Twi because I wanted my username to be Twin1 but I saw Twctinc1 and clicked on it just to be noisy. Also very weird, he made a wiki calledwww.twct.wikia.com. Links100 (talk) 23:32, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
