Syrian Public Security Police moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Syrian Public Security Police, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Control copyright icon Hello Martimix! Your additions to Hassan al-Ghabbash have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 16:14, 22 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions. It seems that you may have added public domain content to one or more Wikipedia articles, such as Vice President of Syria. You are welcome to import appropriate public domain content to articles, but in order to meet the Wikipedia guideline on plagiarism, such content must be fully attributed. This requires not only acknowledging the source, but acknowledging that the source is copied. There are several methods to do this described at Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Public-domain sources, including the usage of an attribution template. Please make sure that any public domain content you have already imported is fully attributed. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 17:02, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, just pick a few pictures that are relevant to the article, it is after all meant to be informative, not just a gallery. After your last edit, the Schedule and Results section was broken due to the number of images on the right-hand side. I've removed some of the less relevant photos (a team photo during a qualifying match, a picture of fans and a photo of a stadium) as they do not add any information to the article. As you're making your edits on a mobile, the Section breaks may be less obvious than they are on desktop! Felixsv7 (talk) 10:29, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Syria women's national rugby sevens team

[edit]

Hello, Martimix,

Thank you for creating Syria women's national rugby sevens team.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

This article needs more references to satisfy notability for sport. What is needed are references from significant coverage about the topic of the article, and independent of it, in multiple secondary sources which are WP:RS; that is your guide. Lists that mention the team are not reliable sources.
You may also read WP:PRIMARY which details the limited permitted usage of primary sources. A more comprehensive guide is WP:SOURCES ... Providing sufficient references, ideally one per fact referred to, that meet these tough criteria is likely to allow this article to remain. Lack of them or an inability to find them is likely to mean that the topic is not suitable for inclusion. Kindly do the needful. Thank you.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Whiteguru}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from one or more pages into Syrian Premier League. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 23:17, 18 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Copy within

[edit]

You did not identify the source of the material in your edit. Presumably, it was Pantsir_missile_system

Copying within Wikipedia is acceptable but it must be attributed.

This type of edit does get picked up by Copy Patrol and a good edit summary helps to make sure we don't accidentally revert it. However, for future use, would you note the best practices wording as outlined at Wikipedia:Copying_within_Wikipedia? In particular, linking to the source article and adding the phrase "see that page's history for attribution" helps ensure that proper attribution is preserved.

While best practices are that attribution should be added to the edit summary at the time the edit is made, the linked article on best practices describes the appropriate steps to add attribution after the fact. I hope you will do so.

I've noticed that this guideline is not very well known, even among editors with tens of thousands of edits, so it isn't surprising that I point this out to some veteran editors, but there are some t's that need to be crossed.S Philbrick(Talk) 14:20, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

So you couldn't claim that it's a standard table. Hope you could make a distinction between your own actions and standards of WP.--Egeymi (talk) 16:09, 10 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Martimix!

  • We think that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time, but it requires a strong understanding of Wikipedia’s CSD policy and notability guidelines.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
  • If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please consider applying here.

Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at 3M6 Shmel, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Mr. Komori (talk) 01:22, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at AS Val and VSS Vintorez, you may be blocked from editing. Loafiewa (talk) 17:48, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

For 3 mistakes in editing? Thank you very much... Martimix (talk) 20:50, 26 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Loafiewa and Mr. Komori are right: don't add unverified information. It seems to me (Loafiewa, Komori, correct me if I'm wrong) that a lot of editing on these armies and guns articles are done by hobbyists who have very little regard for WP:RS, and if they cite anything, it's fan blogs and websites. If, in addition to that, you don't explain what you are doing, you should not be surprised if you get reverted and warned. Drmies (talk) 18:54, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
A year later, and you somehow still haven't grasped the basics of the sourcing policy. Please actually read WP:SPS before editing further, or I'll have to take this to ANI. Loafiewa (talk) 12:36, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Drmies (talk) 18:51, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the article. consider adding additional references to the article. Is it also called the Republic Cup? If so that should be in the article. It is in references but not the article.

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Warning: Misrepresentation of sources

[edit]

Please stop misrepresenting sources when editing, and take greater care to ensure that your claims are matched directly to the source supporting them. This is twice now that we've had to revert edits from you that claim one thing, but whose sources offer no such support for your claims. For instance, this source -- ignoring for a second of whether it even qualifies as a reliable source -- does not claim that Zelzal-3 is a tactical SRBM, nor does it state that Zelzal-3 has GPS and GLONASS support.

This seems to be a longstanding problem, so I'll be blunt -- if it continues, there's going to be sanctions. Either be more careful, or don't edit in this topic area. SWATJester Shoot Blues, Tell VileRat! 17:28, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, I will be more careful... Martimix (talk) 22:19, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
